    Winter has arrived in SW Michigan and she's super angry. Blowing snow with whiteout conditions and temps are going drop below zero and the wind chill is scary. I'm huddling inside and grateful I work for myself and don't have to travel to work.

    That does sound scary. Living in the deep south, every snow (and there certainly aren't many) is cause of celebration and buying of milk and bread. But that is only because we don't have to deal with much. But living with it for months and having to get around in it; that can't be much fun. Grab some hot chocolate (if it fits your macro's ;)) and curl up on the sofa under a nice warm blanket. Or even better, do a Walk with Leslie. That is IF you still have power. Hope it blows through soon.

    Polar Vortex day 3. We didn't leave the house today. I'm barely dressed but am watching all the blowing snow from my sofa covered in blankets, downing cups upon cups of tea. We have record lows and I think records wind chills. Hubby started the car a little while ago just to make sure it works. Schools here are starting to cancel classes for the rest of the week. No mail until Friday, maybe. The Winter Warning was supposed to end at 1 pm tomorrow but has been extended to 7 pm tomorrow.

    Somehow, I did manage to meet my monthly goal of 70 miles, so yay on that. Can spring start in February???

    Well, Canada came through a bit more intensely than I might have asked for, but it's all good. It is currently -13F (-25C) at my house in MI! :laugh: The Post Office is not even delivering the mail so you know something has to be crazy since they deliver in sleet, freezing rain, hail and all other manner of terrible weather. We are even getting instructions from our furnace companies about how to manage our heat to put the least amount of strain on our furnaces so they make it through. :neutral: A lump of salt that fell off the running board of my truck has frozen to the floor of my garage! :noway: However, I actually have this one beat as my husband and I were in Old Forge NY in 1979 snowmobiling when the temperature dropped to -52F (-46.7C). When it is that cold, the air is very still so there is very little sound. We had to walk to the Firehouse for food and we could not hear our boots crunch on the snow or hear the sound of our snowmobile pants and jackets rustling as we were walking. It was surreal!!

    To make all this even more bizarre, we are expecting temperatures of 47 degrees here for Super Bowl Sunday-that is only 4 days from now!! We'll need to get out our shorts and swimsuits to cool off from all that unexpected heat!! :sunglasses: The good news is, there is not much to do but workout with Leslie to get warm!

    Stay warm Deeder and get your summer clothes ready for Sunday! :laugh: It is going to be a zoo at the stores on Friday when every one can get out again so be careful! Cabin Fever does strange things to people-especialy mothers of school age children who have unexpectedly been home all week!! :laugh:

    OH MY GOODNESS!!

    I ran into Meijer this afternoon and it was already filling with zombie-fied cabin fever people. I stocked up on food Tuesday so I can hold out a little longer. I'm seeing lots of Mom's on FB going stir crazy with the kids being home all week.

    We dropped the temp in our house per the Gov. orders, can't wait to get back to 68 degrees tomorrow.

    Ann I had never experienced anything like it before. Both my husband and I thought we had a problem and we said almost simultaneously, "Can you hear me walking?" Even our voices were very muffled. It is something we do not think about, but sound requires air and when it is that cold, the air is extremely still. Strangely, it did not seem to bother our snowmobiles one bit! :laugh:

    Deeder I went to Kroger today to avoid the mad rush tomorrow and it was a laugh riot! So many people were just standing and looking at food like they had no idea what to choose first! Oddly, the store was rammed, but the check out lines were small. I think people went to Kroger to have some new scenery! :laugh: Our advisory has been extended to 9 AM tomorrow so most of the schools here are still closed. The colleges, however are opening tomorrow. It is still -3 in Grand Blanc with a wind chill of -15 so it has not yet moved on. Can you believe it will hit 47 on Sunday! :noway: Geez!

    Results for January. 3.2 lbs lost. 3.75 inches lost. Hate to admit it but the extra workout seems to have been a good thing. So, continuing 3 strength workouts a week for February.

    I feel stronger and some parts of me are firmer. :)

    I forgot to check in at the end of the month but my goal for January was 90 miles and I totaled it today and I got 117...I am so proud of myself and I am 6 pounds down.

    January 9: 60 minutes gazelle with higher intensity/ power surges during all commercials
