We are awaiting the snow which is predicted to be 3 to 5 inches. Time will tell. "Eat well with Green Chef. Get $50 Off" is the banner on the page now.0

I grew up near Gettysburg. When Eisenhower was president, and he'd visit his farm, there would be secret service everywhere. They'd even close off the battlefield towers to tourists.
Trivia:
My grandfather planted rhododendrons at the Eisenhower farm.
My dad coached a grandson (David?) in a summer rec baseball league.0 -
SNL's "reporting" of Trump's bizarre CPAC speech:

According to the newspaper, Pence is only here for the weekend. Previous visits have been for a week. I was surprised to read this was such a short visit. Maybe we can watch the motorcade leaving. Years ago, President George H W Bush came to my town on the Cape. He came in November but it was unseasonably warm that day. Many of us waited on the town rotary, waiting for him to drive by. The Secret Service had blocked off the roads to the rotary. When the limo got there, they went around it from the wrong direction. He had a sound system in the limo and spoke to the crowd to thank us for welcoming him. I remember thinking that was the closest I’d ever get to seeing a president. And indeed it was. It was exciting even though we didn’t actually see him.0

The cold open for SNL last night was one of their best. It was their recreation of the Michael Cohen hearing and it was hilarious. Even my staunch Republican DH laughed several times while watching it. I don’t have a link but you can probably find it on YouTube. I saw hilights from the CPAC speech on the news and couldn’t believe how bizarrely he was acting. The hugging the flag bit was especially weird.0

Pam - I'll definitely have to look for that!0

I think this link will take you to the segment. It’s about 10 minutes long, but worth the time.

I found it on you tube. Hilarious!0

Pam, how are the strength training exercises going? I have PT today. We do a little bit of strength training. It’s an area I need to work on. I have 4 sessions to go. Dan measured my range of motion last week. I was about the same as in January but I had improved since December. I was surprised to be the same as January. Maybe that’s all the range I ever had? I’m much better reaching behind my back than when I started. My right arm is noticeably less flexible than the left arm. Raising my arm straight up or raising it to the side is where the weakness shows up. I’ have to ask Dan if using light weights on my own after therapy ends would help to improve strength and range of motion.0

Helene, I have to admit I’ve not been as consistent lately with my exercise regimen. Last year I think I was doing it pretty consistently at least 4-5 times a week. I think now I’m averaging about 3 times a week. I probably should get back to 4-5 times a week and I still am not doing much cardio. However, I’m not having back pain so I guess I’m doing enough to maintain and I’m pleased with that.0
-
Not having pain is wonderful. Since you’ve been away from your regular workouts, starting slower and building back up to the number of sessions you did last year is a good strategy. Certain arm movements cause me discomfort but the pain I had when I started therapy is gone. I hope to improve a bit more but if this is as good as it gets, I can live with it.0
-
Pam/Helene - I'm SO glad your pain is better!
I lost 2 pounds last week. I'm not being as diligent as I should be but I'm trying. And I've had the stray thought that maybe the reason I yo yo so much is my "diligent" is just too much to maintain long term so I always "break", "cave" whatever you want to call it. Is there some flaw in me that I can't cut back just enough to lose say a pound a week and keep it going long term. Rhetorical question, I know.0 -
Man went to great lengths - including standing with a sign on a street corner - to try to find a lost dog's owner (owner was found but later): https://cheezburger.com/7870981/man-was-standing-on-the-street-for-two-days-with-a-sign-trying-to-reunite-lost-dog-with-owner0

What a nice dog story. I believe most people are good and kind. We don’t see enough stories about the goodness of people. Incivility and mean spiritedness get the bulk of news stories. Give me cat videos, cute kids doing charitable projects and such. My local ABC news program does a positive story in the prime time news Monday through Friday. We need more of that positivity.
Maryanne, I share your flaw of making progress and then self sabotage my progress.0 -
I think that an occasional “cave” is ok but the challenge is to not let occasional become frequent. I’m doing a lot better this time around on maintaining because I try really hard not to let myself get more than 2 pounds away from my lowest weight. When I do I immediately go back to rigorously watching the calorie counts of all my meals and consciously choosing the lowest calorie options I can until I get back to my desired weight. I weigh myself every day and that is key for me. I can catch myself before I get too far off track and make necessary adjustments quickly. I try to stick to my eating plan about 90% of the time, and allow myself at least 1 splurge per week when I eat out or at a friend’s home. So far this seems to be working for me.0

I finally finished watching season 4 of My 600-lb Life (on the treadmill). I think I need a break from that show. I tried to watch the latest update on Melissa and just got bored. I feel for her though. From 650+ to 150, then 3 pregnancies and a divorce, and now 250. She was heading to a conference to speak with Dr. Now. He was being very encouraging and helping her try to get back on the wagon.0

Pam - love it!
It's SUPER cold here today. Indy is super freaked that the cat porch isn't open this morning. I keep telling her she's lucky to not still be living in a tree behind Pep Boys but right at the moment when she's wants OUT it's a tough sell. I'll be off to the grocery store since my morning conference call cancelled. Then settling down to work.0 -

Snow closed half of the state's schools. Big oil truck slid, and jackknifed on a steep hill near me closing the road. He was almost empty and supposedly no oil spilled. On the Intestate, a similar incident occurred with a fuel truck.

I am tired, have been fighting a slight cold. I've lost motivation to lose weight. I'll try to regain the motivation after the trip but right now, I'm too tired to care about fixing healthy foods, exercising, etc.0

Jean, I didn’t realize you had a trip coming up. Where are you going.0
