Day 2 of effort to be healthier dawns....

I wasn’t surprised that Reem chose the Island. She has a chance at redemption by going. It seemed very important to her not to be first person sent home. Plus she’s still pretty fresh after only 3 days in the game. Someone who’s been in the game a couple of weeks, weak from lack of food and physically beat up might just say I’m going home and not going to that island. Reem seemed very strong minded and she has a need to show the tribe that she’s made of stronger stuff. It will be interesting to see what she has to do there and can she make it back.0

I haven't seen Survivor in years.
I still can't get over the chair thing. The only way that would work around here would be for the person to occupy the chair; otherwise, said chair would get moved.

I made it through day 2 without eating anything I shouldn't. Discovered to my surprise that Tuffy likes chicken livers. Our current crop of cats simply don't eat people food so that was a surprise.0

We had to have our sewer line repaired in the last month (what fun in a one-bathroom house - NOT!). Smart DH had sewer line coverage on our home owner's insurance so we're getting a check. Erie called to tell us and the guy who called was all curious about the coverage, said it's not readily available and he'd like to add it, but his wife prefers USAA. Hmmm, dude, I don't think you're supposed to be saying that when you're on Erie's payroll. LOL!0

Our snow from Wednesday is already mostly gone. We have had a lot of rain but limited amounts of snow and ice. I'll take it!0
-
The weather report at Noon said we may be seen hit a record for amount of rain. It has been a daily thing.0

The Spanish teacher is organizing a trip to Peru. The escorted tour comes to over $4000; of course, the organizer doesn't pay that. I think I will pass on this.0

7-Layer Fat-Fighting Dip
I love a good dip and this one has health benefits too!
Ingredients:
4 cups shredded lettuce...
3 medium ripe avocados mashed and mixed with 2 tbsp lemon juice
1 1/2 cup Greek yogurt mixed with 1 package low-sodium taco seasoning mix
1 can black beans
3 medium diced tomatoes
2 cans sliced olives
8 oz 2% cheddar cheese
Directions:
Starting with the lettuce on the bottom of a bowl, add each layer on top of the next, ending with sprinkling the cheese on top. Alternate one celery stick with each whole grain chip to cut your calories in half.
Enjoy!!!0 -

Love the non matching cat. That dip sounds good. I like 7 layer dip. This version sounds a lot healthier.0

Sorry the vacation was less than great. Feel free to vent. We’ve got your back.0

Pam--Sorry the vacation didn't go well. Time drags when things don't live up to expectations.
This Winter is really odd. We have a day of sunshine finally after all the rain, but the temperature was 58 degrees at 10am. This is Winter? If Winter was like this most of the time, I could handle it. We have only had a dusting of snow but 50 miles away, they have had measurable snow twice.0 -
Unfortunately, the weather really didn’t favor us while we were there. We saw sun the day we arrived, then had continuous cloudy, misty, foggy days the rest of the week. The temps were a little on the chilly side and it was very windy, so spending time on the beach wasn’t very appealing. The fog was so thick that at times we couldn’t even see the water from our condo. So since the beach wasn’t an option, we spent most of our time driving around and/or shopping. I enjoy shopping, but not every day! We did spend one day driving farther east to explore some of the beach communities in Florida, thinking we might want to try a new area for the next trip. We didn’t do much cooking, other than breakfast a couple of days, and usually ate a fairly large lunch while we were out each day. For dinner we usually just snacked or ate leftovers and that worked out well. It was nice not having to cook and clean up like we usually do when the rest of the gang is with us.
By the time we were headed home I was really ready to have some space from my SIL. We get along pretty well and even share similar views on many issues, but she’s also one who steamrollers over people to get them to do what she wants. I can stand up to her if I have to, but in the interest of maintaining a pleasant relationship I generally don’t unless it’s something that really matters to me. By the end of the week I was really tired of “going along to get along” as the saying goes. On the drive home she was already planning future trips for the two of us, which I am not sure I’d want to do anytime soon. I just told her I couldn’t really plan anything for the rest of this year due to other commitments with my family and some friends that I’ve already agreed to.
I was fairly happy when I got on the scale this morning. After 8 days of eating out daily, I was pleased that I was only up 2.5 pounds from when I left. I would have been happier if I wasn’t up at all, but considering how and what I ate while I was gone, it could have (and probably should have) been much worse. So today I’m back to eating the way I should and I got back into my back and core exercises. Hopefully those pounds won’t stick around for long.0 -
Pam--It sounds as if you did have a miserable time. Great job on not gaining much. I'm sure part of the weight is water retention which you will soon lose.0

So much for planning the effective dining method:

SIL sounds like an exhausting person to spend extended time with. Too bad the weather was so uncooperative. You probably need a vacation from your vacation.0

"NEW FOR 39 Canadians can now apply.
The cast for the thirty-ninth season has been finalized and will leave for Fiji the second week of March. It is a cast comprised of all-new players. Filming is expected to begin at the end of March.
There is currently no solid information on the theme, though there have been rumors online about some sort of Indoor vs. Outdoor (or City vs. Country) concept. The idea suggests a group of outdoorsy-types facing off against a group of homebody-types. Or perhaps a tribe of people used to working in the outdoors versus city slicker types. However, Inside Survivor hasn't been able to confirm any of this information, so take it with a huge pinch of salt for now."
Boy, I could be an indoor/homebody type. Hee hee.....
But I know darned well I'd hate actually being on survivor (my idea of roughing it is a Holiday Inn). Now a reporter visit or something like that? I could do that.

Hi just joined I have four pounds to go to be on maintenance0

Hi, Sarah!
It sounds like you've done a fantastic job. Four pounds till maintenance!!! Tell us a little about you.
I'm an employee benefits attorney in Baltimore who runs a cat rescue in my spare time. Just in the last few days I'm working on getting back on the diet wagon (and the treadmill).

Hi Sarah! I’ll be happy to have a fellow maintainer around!
I’m a retired licensed professional counselor in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I lost 20 pounds last year and am working hard to stay within 2 pounds of my lowest weight. My recent vacation put me at the high end of the range, so I’m trying to kick those pounds to the curb ASAP.
Today I’m catching up on laundry and a few other chores that didn’t get done while I was away. DH seems to have forgotten how to run the washing machine.1
