I was in the mood for a taste of home so for dinner we had BBQ sandwiches (my mother's recipe) and turkey corn soup (frozen after Thanksgiving). There are a lot of foods I grew up on that I've never tried to make but these I can handle!!

I lost another half pound last week in spite of not eating well. Dang, decluttering must burn some calories. Maybe I should start a business decluttering for people and lose all the weight

I'm still slogging through Fosse Verdon. I thought I'd love it a lot more than I do. Somehow it doesn't seem right that I can't enjoy it without reading 4-8 articles on each episode, explaining it to me. But it got something like 19 Emmy nominations.

I started watching in FL but it didn’t hold my interest. I got 2 or 3 episodes in. I expected it to be more interesting too.

I'm on an NCIS binge via Netflix. I was going to Columbus today with a friend to eat at the Cheesecake Factory but the possibility of storms and 100 degree temps changed our mind.

Jean - hilarious! I love how they show you all these gadgets to keep your fat cat from eating the other cats' food. I can see it all now. Smokey walks toward the feeder. Her collar opens it. Tuffy barrels in, forcing her out of the way, and eats her food. So much for the opener on collar idea! I can pretty much mentally demolish anything they can invent.

A friend sent me some memes of jokes for older folks. I don’t know where they came from or how to repost. The funniest was a man asking Alexa to play some Mozart. A voice from the next room says Alexa is the living room. He’s talking to a tuna fish can.

The cherry tomatoes have started to ripen so I'm going to make this for dinner: https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/08/marinated-mozzarella-cherry-tomato-basil-salad-recipe.html

I could never find white balsamic vinegar in our stores so this always looked muddy when I made it. But then it occurred to me to look on Amazon! What did we ever do before Amazon?

DH keeps asking for BLTs and I tell him he needs to get the "T"s to ripen. LOL! He actually told me to buy one. He usually makes fun when I buy a tomato. The store had a display set up that was supposed to look like they were selling local tomatoes. It would have been a lot more convincing if they'd removed the "Canada" labels from the tomatoes themselves. (And why, might one ask, can't we get local tomatoes this time of year if Canada is growing tomatoes????)

I enjoyed my day yesterday. One of my friends and I enjoyed a mini spa day at a local spa. We had facials, massages, and a detoxifying body wrap. The body wrap was a first for me, and a little weird, but overall I enjoyed the day. Afterward we went to a nearby restaurant and had mojitos with chips and salsa and chatted for awhile. It was very nice.

Today I am cleaning house and getting ready to go to my sister’s home on Friday. She has all three of her adult daughters and their families visiting for the first time in a long time and she invited us and some of our cousins who live in Texas to come for a cousins reunion. Should be an interesting get together. We will be staying in a motel for the night, as are most everyone else. I baked a couple of cakes to take with us for dessert and we will be cooking burgers and hot dogs Friday night. I’m not sure if anyone else is bringing anything, but I’m sure there will be lots of food. One of my nieces and her husband and child will stay with us for a couple of nights so they can visit with his family who live near me but don’t have room for them to stay with them, hence the housecleaning on my part, lol! Then next Wednesday DH and I are driving down to Houston to spend his birthday with his family. So the next couple of weeks will be fairly busy for me.

I have an appointment tomorrow with my orthopedic doctor about my hip. I hope he can figure out what’s causing me pain and come up with a treatment plan, other than hip replacement surgery. I really don’t believe I’m there yet, or even close to that neighborhood.

Cat missing 9 years returned after his microchip was (finally!) read (we actually had one show up about two years after being lost thanks for a microchip; the original owner agreed to let the new owner keep him):

Waiting to see if the heat warnings become a reality. Right now, it is overcast.

I went to the supermarket and when I pulled out my wallet, I saw that my favorite card is missing. Not to be found anywhere, I notified Chase to get a replacement for a card I use big time and pay off each month. In the meantime, I lost double points for groceries.

DH is prepping for the heat (don't ask).

Jean - sorry you lost a card! Hopefully not too much hassle.

The only place I can buy Egg Beaters Southwest is at Walmart so trotted off there today. At first I was very disappointed because it didn't look like they had it. BUT then I noticed they changed the carton. It's now a plain purple. Walmart's own brand of plan EB is now in a yellow EB looking carton. How's that for thinking about marketing slyly in even the smallest item? And having the power with suppliers to make it happen?

Our local supermarket doesn't even carry Egg Beaters. Like you, I like the Southweest version. I normally get mine at WalMart but didn't want to travel that far today or until the heat lessens,

Just got back from seeing my ortho doc for my hip pain. He diagnosed it as bursitis and ordered a steroid shot in the joint. He also recommended a few PT sessions to work on stretching and strengthening the muscles, so I’ve got that evaluation scheduled for a week from Monday, unless they have a cancellation sooner. Hopefully the steroid injection will help quickly.

Forgot to add that the doctor said he saw no evidence of arthritis in my hip and that a hip replacement does not appear to be in my future. Whew! That was good to hear.

Pam, great news about the Otho doc’s opinion.
Jean, I made the WW key lime pie. I’m serving it tonight. I’ll let you know if DH likes it. key Lime is his favorite pie.

The key lime pie is a keeper. Plus it was simple, no bake. I’d like to try it again with different yogurt flavors. We pick up the new truck this afternoon. It’s a busy day. We have to drop the old one off this morning so they can transfer some added equipment we had on the old truck. We’re meeting a friend for lunch and then going back to pick up the new truck.

Verizon is coming today. Again. They've totally messed up our phones. We have three lines coming into this house, residence, business and fax. And they're all messed up. If you call our home number you now get a weird combo of answering machine and fax noise. We can't get incoming faxes. What's truly weird is everything but incoming faxes was fine Tuesday. They haven't been here since Tuesday but it's gotten messed up. Seems like it had to have been done in their computers - not online - but they insist on coming in person. I'm so tired of this. It might not be so bad if it was because of something we requested but no, it's because THEY want to replace copper lines with fiber optics. Along the way I've lost options I've had for literally decades. And spent untold time online and here at the house. Basically they have no one who knows anything. They just have millions of people who do what their computers tell them to do regardless of whether it make sense.

I had to call Comcast yesterday for help pairing a new cable box with a new smart TV. I had no luck figuring it out on my own. I wanted to do an online chat but it looks like they dropped that option. I clicked on call me and surprisingly, I had a call in 30 seconds. A nice young women walked me through several possibilities. It took about 20 minutes but she helped me get everything working. My expectations were low so I ended up impressed.
