Well, this is a first. I get to write a check from CROM to a Catholic church. Never imagined that in a million years. The post office charged their account for some of our mail and helpfully provided a receipt to us. LOL!0

What were the circumstances of writing a check to a church. We would have the vet trim Cheyenne's nails a few times a year. We bought clippers but were too chicken to use them. Cagney liked to use scratching pads and kept her nails short on her own. It sounds like you could use a scale update. Getting that feedback of tenths of a pound is so uplifting. With your's you could be down four tenths and it wouldn't show any loss. I got my scale on Amazon for around $20.
I've used sugar free jello cups with a squirt of whipped cream as a sweet dessert without a lot of calories. Mixed berries as well as watermelon chunks are great dessert choices.0 -
When our mailing goes out, it says on the front "Return Receipt Requested". That's a post office code phrase. It means "if this person no longer lives at the address shown, please look them up in your system, and send back to us with their new address, if you have it, or whatever other information your have - e;g. person is temporarily away, person is deceased, or person just can't be found". They charge us the cost of a first class stamp for each returned piece of mail. This time they charged this church's account instead. Even included a printout that shows their name and address along with the payment address.0

The party last night was a lot of fun. I received some very nice gifts, including a gift card for Nordstrom which I will enjoy spending when I get home.
Today was a busy day. I did laundry, wrote thank you cards for my gifts, and packed. And answered a million questions from DH while I was trying to pack. I finally gave up and waited for him to finish his packing because I couldn’t complete a thought without being interrupted and I knew I wouldn’t do a good job of my own packing that way.
My cousin is having another craniotomy tomorrow. About 2 weeks ago they found a mass on or near the site of the surgery he had last Christmas where they removed a 10 cm tumor. The doctors aren’t sure what this is, as it could be a recurrence of his cancer or it may be scar tissue. I hate that I am leaving with this uncertainty, but he has assured me that he wants us to go and not worry about him. I’ll stay in touch with family to find out the verdict and any updates.0 -
Pam - I'm so sorry about your cousin. Hopefully he does great!0

The timing of your cousin’s surgery is too bad. I hope all goes well for him and that you are able to enjoy your vacation. Wishing you safe travels.0

My cousin’s surgery went well. It was a long surgery, but the verdict was scar tissue and not a recurrence of the cancer. They will do a biopsy of the tissue to confirm this, but the doctor felt confident that it was scar tissue. He will be in ICU tonight and is expected to go home on Wednesday. What a relief to know this before we leave. Thanks for your well wishes — I do appreciate them.0

Pam--Hopefully the biopsy will verify the hopeful good news. Enjoy your travels!0

Jack and I went to the dentist this morning. Jack is the cat from PA who donated a kidney to our late Gordy. He's had upper respiratory issues for years and two years ago had a nosectomy (which is exactly what it sounds like). His general practice vet was uncertain about doing a dental on him but told me that if it can be done he really, really needs it.
Both his specialists (internist and surgeon) were pretty sure he could have a dental and they also suggested a nasal flush while he's out.
I made a lot of jokes about veterinary dentists and their utter lack of purrsonality but I really liked this one. She's sharp. I think we have a plan of attack. I've written it up and faxed to all his doctors to make sure no one has any objections or suggestions. Because the plan involves him staying with the critical care docs the day before and the day after we can't schedule until those folks get their November calendar ready in the next couple days. Then she'll call me.
While she wrote up an estimate she sent her resident in to check him out. Neither of them had ever seen a cat post nosectomy. (He's black so it never - even in the beginning - looked as bad as the photos on the internet.)
P.S. spell check suggests I change nosectomy to vasectomy. Nope, he already had that. LOL!0 -
I just lost a long post. Ugh. We ran errands yesterday and I walked up and down store aisles. I got 3000 steps in and my knee felt great. I’ve been trying to gradually up my count. I started around 500 steps a month ago and my best effort before yesterday was around 2000 steps. I thought my knee might be sore so I took ibuprofen at bedtime.
My therapist is very pleased with my progress. I have 2 sessions left. I have more range of motion and much less pain.
I stopped at my chiropractor before going home. I developed a touch of vertigo over the weekend. This is my third time in 6 years. The first time was really bad. I was bouncing off the wall trying to walk down the hallway. The second time was milder and my chiropractor did the Epley maneuver on me. It cleared up in a couple of days. He worked me in today and did Epley again. If it’s not gone in a few days, I’ll go back for another treatment. I’m hoping wenipped this in the bud. I’ll know when I roll over in bed tonight.0 -
I had book group this morning at the library. I usually take the elevator upstairs and down to spare my knee. I decided to challenge myself by using the stairs going up. It's 24 steps with 2 landings. I made it upstairs with no protests from my knee. Going downstairs is harder for me. I guess it uses a different set of muscles. I'll do the elevator down today. Maybe next time I'll try the stairs in both directions.0

Helene - sounds like you're making a concerted effort to improve your progress. I can see why both you and your therapist are pleased!0

I’m just so thrilled to have almost no pain in my knee now. It’s too bad I waited several years before I decided to see if I could improve my condition. There were many activities I passed up doing because I was afraid to trigger the pain. But I guess better late than never.0

Happy aHalloween everyone. I didn’t buy any candy this year because we never get any kids. And I end up eating what I bought. So this year, I decided to skip the temptation.0

Helene--I didn't buy any candy this year either. After the community parties started for kids, the trick or treating stopped but I bought a couple of bags just in case. I decided I would treat myself by not buying it as I knew what I would do with it. I never buy candy at any other time of the year.
I do think you are making significant progress with your overall health, and that includes the decreasing knee pain.
We are spending Halloween with severe storms, rain and tornado warnings in some areas.0 -
The local paper actually warned against trick or treating because of the threat of severe weather.
We never get trick or treaters either.0 -

A client took THREE MONTHS to respond to a simple question I had about their project now they want it ASAP. It's that time of year.0

Maryanne, can you quote Jean. I still can’t see her posts.0

I walked 3200 steps yesterday. That’s my high so far. I have one more PT session left.My therapist wrote up a progress report for my follow up doctor visit on the 11th. I went from 115 degrees of motion to 125 degrees of motion. And my pain level is so much less. I’m glad I did it.0

We are having a fantastic time in Greece! The trip included 2 days in Athens, then we started traveling through the countryside, visiting various historical sites. The Parthenon was a highlight as well as the original site of the Olympics, including the original stadium. Today we traveled into the Dolomite mountains to see the Temple of Delphi. Along the way we crossed an isthmus and made our way along a coastal road that was breathtakingly beautiful. As we wound up into the mountains I was so grateful for our very skillful professional driver because the hairpin turns were quite something. At one point I was looking down over a spot where the turns literally crossed over each other twice before straightening out for a bit. I certainly couldn’t imagine driving a full size bus (with a standard transmission) over that kind of road. Tomorrow we will make a couple of stops and then head back to Athens where we will have a special dinner near the port of Piraeus then tomorrow we will board the ship for 4 days of visiting islands, including Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes, Ephesus, and 1 more that I can never remember. Then it’s back to Athens for one more night and home next Saturday. Internet service has been spotty, but tonight I have a good connection so I’m taking advantage to get caught up on emails and checking in on friends and family. Tonight our hotel is a ski lodge and our room has a king size bed on one floor with a fireplace, and a loft above with another king size bed. The accommodations have all been very nice.
Thanks for your concern and good wishes for my cousin. He is doing well, recovering at home, and has a good prognosis. They don’t expect the scar tissue to return, so that was very good news.0
