2019: We Are Making a Difference!

I’m down 4 pounds since I started Noom and 17 pounds since I left FL. While I lost most of the weight on my own, it took 5 months to lose 13 pounds and 4 weeks to lose 4 pounds on Noom. I do better with the group support method. On my own, there were weeks and weeks of no movement or even gaming back weight. Some people can do it alone but I guess I’m not one of them.0

Congrats, Helene! Knowing what works for you is the key, and it sounds like you’ve found it.
We are continuing to get ready for our trip. Today I’ll be notifying credit card companies and the bank that we will be out of the country so our cards don’t get locked due to suspicious activity. I also need to obtain a PIN for my credit card since our travel company advised that in Europe most card transactions require a PIN. If I ever had one for my card, I certainly don’t remember it. I know my PIN for my debit/ATM card, but I’ve never used one with my credit card.0 -
Sometimes, I get an urge for sausage gravy and biscuits which I haven't had for a year which I did at a hotel. I try to limit how much of that I eat. Yesterday, in the local supermarket I found a frozen Bob Evans Suffer Biscuit with gravy. One of them is 270 calories with 6g of protein. High in calories but as a rare treat would be acceptable.0

I successfully managed to squirt the pre-filled syringe of antibiotics into Midnight's mouth last evening. I prepared to do it again this morning but he retreated off to sleep before I could do it. I didn't have the heart to disturb him but I should as he likes to get me up at night.0

Helene--Congrats upon your weight loss. You are doing what works for you.
Pam--Good on notifying the card companies. I never remember my PIN numbers as I never use them. Perhaps I should get one for the cards that don't have foreign transaction fees as those are the ones I use on my rare international travels.0 -
Well, trying to be proactive in notifying the card companies was a waste of time. Apparently, now that our cards have the chip embedded in them, the card companies no longer need to be notified in advance, and PINs aren’t required either. I hope this all proves to be accurate. We will also have our debit card and DH will check with our bank to ensure there are no surprises when we use it.0

Pam, could you quote Jean"s posts for me. Thank.0

We were able to get Euros at our bank today. It turned out to be a better deal than doing it at the airport because our bank waived the transaction fee since we have accounts with them, and their exchange rate was better than the place at the airport. So I think we’ve got all of the details handled now. I’ll start packing on Sunday and we leave for the airport mid afternoon on Monday.
Tomorrow my friends here are having a birthday party for me. My birthday was early in the month but this was the first date where everyone was in town. I know it will be fun and lots of good food.0 -
So it will be a birthday and vacation send off party. Have fun. Good deal on the Euros.0

I’ve made Hungry Girl egg mug dishes before. They come out pretty good and are easy to make. Make the egg recipe without the sauce and see how you like it. You wouldn’t have to buy a lot of extra ingredients if you just do the eggs, spinach and Laughing Cow. It’s important to stop at one minute to stir. That makes sure the cooked bits mix in with the still liquid bits. And if you don’t stir, it can explode all over your microwave. I’ve never had a problem with exploding if I stirred. And stay your mug with Pam so it comes out easy.
Yeah, if you can explode it I probably would, so thanks for the tips!! I started looking at this because yesterday I had one of those new "crack into the plastic cup" egg things that they've started to sell. Better than the last time I tried it because I replaced their (to me) sour onions and pepper with my own. But suddenly made me remember you mentioning the mug ones and thought I'd google it.0 -

Good job! Might be easiest to get him when he's napping, before he fully wakes up?0 -

Pam--I get my foreign currency at AAA with no transaction fee. Exchanging at the airport is a very bad idea unless necessary. Do enjoy your trip.
Maryanne--I tried grabbing Midnight while napping and have a scratch to show for it. I think I'll call the vet and have them give him the cortisone shot instead. It is far easier to put him in the carrier.
I lost 3 pounds this week. I kept calories at the 1200 range each day. I doubt that I will lose any next week as there is not much difference in the calories required to maintain and 1200.0 -

We aren’t AAA members and I don’t even know where a AAA office would be locally, so the bank is a really good deal for us. It’s good to know there are options besides the airport or using foreign ATMs once we arrive.

Jean, good job on losing 3 pounds this week! I think I keep losing and gaining the same 2 pounds.0

Jean, put some antibiotic cream on that scratch so it doesn’t get infected. We always had a hard time giving the cats pills. They seemed to know when it was coming and they’d make themselves scarce.I would tell DH there was something in his tone of voice that told them trouble was headed their way.
I’ve been hovering around that 1200 calorie mark for the last 5 weeks. I have four pounds lost to show for it. I’m pleased at that rate. I’ve never been a fast loser so steady works for me. I love the new scale I bought. It measures in tenths where the old one show two tenth increments. That doesn’t still sound like much but I seemed to be stuck on the same weight for a long time. I like seeing the tenths click off. I also started a new decade range of weight yesterday. I’m only three tenths of a pound into to it but entering that new range makes me feel great. My next milestone will be twenty pounds lost, including what I lost on my own last summer. I have two pounds to go to make it. If I don’t slack off, I could be there in two weeks or so.0 -
Helene--A tenth of a pound lost shows progress, so having a scale that measures tenths is great. Two pounds to go is not that far so keep the goal in sight. I'm one that likes to see progress and not patient when the scale or tape doesn't show progress.
Maryanne--I just tried using towel on Midnight but bless his little heart, he managed to sneak a paw out and inflict a wound that bled. I put washed it and put antibiotic cream on it followed by a band air. I just hope it doesn't develop an infection like the finger did this Spring when he bit me.
Pam--I keep losing the same pounds also; it seems that when I reach a certain number it doesn't want to go lower.0 -

My ancient scale only does half pounds.
Congrats on getting into a new decade range!!! Do you remember those threads on the nutrisystem board titled things like "Race to the 180's"? I always enjoyed those.
I always seem to want sweet after a meal. For some reason your fruit comment stuck in my head. No context or anything. Just floating around. Then I snitched a small piece of DH's watermelon. It suddenly occurred to me I could have a small piece of fruit after meals instead of a small piece of chocolate and save calories. And it would even work after breakfast. So I bought myself some watermelon chunks. Working pretty well so far.0 -

It shouldn't get so infected. Bite marks can get infected because their mouths have bacteria. Doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful with a scratch.
Sounds like a vet claw clipping may be in order.
I'm so lucky right now because the vet clipped Tuffy's claws this week while they had him.0
