I have decided that the best diet aid is to watch Dr. Pimple Popper when starting to snack.

Maryanne--Thanks but how is your kitty doing that you took to the ER Vet? Midnight ate some this afternoon--about half of one of those small cans of Fancy Feast and then nibbled on his Hills ID dry food.

I picked Big Guy up yesterday morning and drove him to my regular vet with a long to do list. They'll work him in as they can. I'm sure he's terrified.

Maryanne--Love "cats are like music" comparison.

I am off to the city tomorrow for an eye exam. It seems that it has been some time since I last had a checkup. At that time, my eyes hadn't changed enough for a prescription change.

Jean, our first cat was Midnight as well. She went through a spell when she wasn’t eating. The vet prescribed an appetite pill. After she was on it a bit, he went back to eating normally.

Jack takes the appetite stimulant mirtazapine (spell check wants to make that mirthfulness, say what?????).

Well, so much for the eye appointment. I didn't go to sleep until late and then when I did, I overslept. I got my six hours of sleep in but missed the appointment. Now, it is on Monday and rumors are that the weather might not be the best.

I did something a little crazy on Christmas Eve. I usually liked most of the NS dinners and the snacks too much. Since my first and most successful experience with NS came from a Today's Special Value on QVC, I decided to see what they had as various offerings. I can easily do breakfast and lunch, but wanted an easy approach to dinners especially if Winter ever comes.

I went to the QVC website and discovered they offered dinners and snacks on the Weekends Off approach. The package is designed for two to last two weeks. Since there is one of me and Midnight wouldn't be eating it, I looked to see what was included and decided Iliked most of them and a package designed for two for 2 weeks would last one for 4 weeks.

Price? $125 plus $10 shipping and tax. It was under $4 a day for the dinner and snacks, so I ordered it on December 24. It arrived yesterday. The first thing I did was to check expiration dates but all is good. Today is day one using it.

What a PITA!! We're supposed to get rain here. Almost no time at all below freezing in the next week.

Sounds like you've started the new year off already. Good job!

I likely won't get serious until after New Year's day, unfortunately.

Mushrooms? Spicy? Just NO...... BUT glad you like it!!

I had a bunch of white bean chili here (I think all the lines have it - South Beach, NS, JC). Discovered I have a friend who really enjoys it so she got them all!!

Maryanne--Our tastes do differ. I wouldn't eat "hot and spicy" often but I enjoy it once a week to wake up the taste buds.

I had the instant maple and brown sugar oatmeal for breakfast. Off to use my egg cooker to make some hard boiled eggs.

I added exercise today and was on plan the full day. One day at a time!! Tomorrow, I have the optometrist appointment. I'll have lunch out but will make it an acceptable one.

We are back from visiting DH’s family in Houston. For the most part it was a good visit, but I would have liked to come home a day earlier. Five days in a small house with this gang is a little too long for me!

I’ve been eating everything in sight for the past couple of weeks, so it’s definitely time to get back into a better routine and add some exercise. I need to give some thought to what is realistic and doable for me in both areas.

Pam--Glad the visit went well but there are times that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. You are a good planner so I'm sure that you will get back into a routine that works for you.

I didn't have the instant oatmeal for breakfast as I ran out. Instead, I had a serving of the Premier Protein drink which has 30g of protein for 160 calories, pllus 1g of sugar and 3g of fat.

I got the Noom email again offering me 80% off plus 2 week free trial. I checked it out and after the 80% was deducted, the fee was $139 for a full year. The special was not applied to periods less than a year. That $139 could buy another month's supply of NS dinners and snacks if I should desire to do that.

I've definitely had the "too much of a good thing" holiday this year.

Do the protein drinks satisfy you?

Maryanne--I really enjoy those Protein drinks. Yes, with 30g of protein, they definitely satisfy you. I got started on those when a person who had gastsric bypass said her surgeon recommended them. Then, I saw the science teacher and coach brought them to school for lunch. They come in a variety of flavors. The caramel is great!

Jean, great job getting a jump on 2020. I’ll be recommitting myself today. I’m in my 16th week of Noom. I’ve loosened up the last two weeks. Realistic, I knew I’d be eating holiday meals and some treats. I managed to maintain but I’m ready to push forward again. I bought 2 new bathing suits last week so I can get some pool exercises in.
