March (2019)
WELCOME to all walkers!
It is already March, 2019, and time to start a new monthly challenge! Spring is right around the corner, if not here already for some walkers! So let's make March another extraordinarily awesome month while we continue to walk each month together. There are still so many possibilities and opportunities for a healthy year, no matter what the first two months may have brought us so far this year. Every month is another opportunity because we are walking strong, not just for the current month, but hopefully for a lifetime.
Are the trees beginning to leaf out, or are tiny flowers or bulbs peeking up through the snow for you, because March is coming in like a lamb? Then getting outdoors to walk your miles will ensure that we won't miss any spring flowers or the beautiful budding trees as they begin to announce spring is finally here. Walking outdoors is an important part of fitness walking, when possible, for those who enjoy walking some miles or minutes outdoors when possible.
Or, if March is coming in like a lion where you live then having Leslie's, or other walking DVDs, to pop in the player continues to be a great alternative to walking outdoors.
This group is open to any and all walkers. The majority of us use Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVD and/or other walking DVDs by favorite instructors. Or other kinds of DVD workouts, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, or on the treadmill.
Please post when you discover other great DVDs so that we all can benefit from them also.
All of these many options count toward our miles and minutes. However you get your walk in. Post your miles or minutes that you have walked or exercised, however you did it... it is all good! With spring on the horizon don't forget that yard and garden work definitely counts as working out :flowerforyou: .
We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that this challenge will always motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you!
Set your personal goal for how many miles and/or minutes that you want to walk or exercise, indoors or out, this month. Or whatever your goal is this month, if it not actually in "miles/ minutes". This is your own personal goal
. Post your results daily, weekly, or whenever you like or have the time to post it. Even when life gets busy and you can't post as often as you would sometimes like to, keep on walking or working out! Stay strong! And post later on.
If you find this challenge in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goal to reflect what you want to walk/ workout for the remaining days in the month. You are always welcome
!
So, if you are new to the group please feel free to start today so that by the end of the month you will be that much closer to your health goals. It is never too late to join in.
It is always fun to read which DVD, whether Leslie or another instructor, that you used. Or whatever form your walk took, whether outdoors or on the treadmill or anything in between. We all could use some new inspiration sometimes, or inquiring minds sometimes just want to know . So please share if you would care to
.
Come on in and let us start walking the Monthly Walk Challenge together. I know that I say this each month but I am truly very grateful for each one of our precious walkers who continue to inspire and motivate mile by mile, and step by step, each month.
I know that we are all excited to see our long time faithful walking friends
join us for yet another amazing month together, and we are always awaiting the opportunity to welcome newcomers to this month's Walk Challenge!
And now, no more chit chatting.... let us lace up those fitness shoes and get some water... as we begin to walk into March! Can you believe it
. It seems like we blinked and winter is almost gone away. Even if you have a snowflake or two still on your lashes ![;) ;)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Please join us as we turn yet another calendar page... and walk our way to a Happy and Healthy March.
Let's walk strong, and with the determination, as well as a smile on our faces
!

Spring has not come to MI yet-it snowed all day today! Temperatures this week will be below 0 F (-17C) again and get to 10 F (-12.2C) during the day. :noway: The hilarious part of this is that our "spring break" begins this week! I am heading to NY to warm up as it is going to be at least 11 F(-11.6) there!!! Mother Nature is full of jokes at our expense!

Looks like March is surely coming in like a lion! The freezing cold weather is now making its way south. It had been in the high 80s two weeks ago and now freezing this coming week. Trees and plants have already been budding/ leafing out and growing like it was the beginning of spring! Oh, no :noway: ! At least we will only get down to the high 20s , so I won't be complaining. Stay warm y'all.
You all are doing some awesome mileage and exercises during our first three days of March. And some more great goals being made!

Happy Monday. Leslie is doing a "Spring Training" challenge this month on her app. Each week ( M-F) increases by 1 mile and includes a bonus strength training on Saturday. This week starts with 2 miles. I don't have the app but I have enough videos to follow along. I did 2 Mile Belly walk today.
@damselfly7981, Myself, and @zichab are both Michiganders too. I'm in Grand Rapids. Where are you?
@zichab, Oh the warmth of NY's 10 more degrees. Enjoy your spring break and think of us back in this frozen tundra of the mitten state. I'm currently showing a wind chill of -5.2 -

Same here, Mary. I had to cover my daylillies yesterday. 20's at night and 30's for day time highs. After a "warmish" start to winter I was lulled into believing we might have an early spring. Sigh. But, like you I'm grateful it's not getting any colder!1 -
I do feel for all you Michiganders!

@Deeder522 Leslie's app is on https://yourdailywalk.com/ it is only $50 a year to join and you have access to all of her video's. I joined in Feb. and have to say I love it. I have Roku on my TV so I can watch the app on the TV too. It is great. Hope this helps. This week her Spring Training is 2 miles a day. I did the 2 miles and then added next Monday's walk too, to make a 5 mile walk1

2 Miracle Miles done, ha ha ha.
I don't know why but I always want to say that in the voice of the Count from Sesame Street. lol
@knjstolt , Thanks, I know but I just can't afford to part with the money. I have a lot of DVD's and the library to use along with youtube. I sat down last night and went through the calendar on the website and there are only a few days later in the month that I can't cover. So I figure I just substitute with combo video of 2-3 miles.4 -
