@cyndiesstuff don't think of it as one more day to stress but one more day to prepare. Good luck!
I like your circle goals too.2 -
Yesterday I did not take that bike ride. Got side tracked by planning how to help a blind woman relearn to crochet - my project for tomorrow. I found a simple scarf pattern that is just single crochet and chain stitches. Hoping she will at least remember how to do those. I think she can feel the stitches to find where to make the next single crochet. What do you think, @GingerPwr ?
I stayed close to my calorie goal, did eat the ice cream and added walnuts to it so I got the nuts in. I got 7,056 steps plus 45+ minutes water aerobics. I consider that a good day.3 -
@pacsnc6 omgosh you are sooo right. I need to practice what I preach!! thanks for the remind. your the second person today to remind me to be more positive. I think it was a great day, and sometimes walnuts have to have ice cream!! you could try to swap out your ice cream with sugar free pudding and put your nuts in there.
or try these,
Ingredients
•5 ripe bananas
•¾ cup sweet diced strawberries (can use other fruits, nuts or mini chocolate chips, I have also passed on the fruit and added 1/2 all natural peanut butter)
•11 sheets of graham crackers
Instructions
1.Slice bananas into disk.
2.Place in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
3.Freeze for 2 hours or until frozen. (don't skip this step, I did once and the sandwiches were hard as a rock)
4.Place banana slices in a food processor and blend until creamy.
5.Scoop banana into a large bowl and fold in dice strawberries.
6.Line an 8 x 8 dish with parchment paper.
7.Spread banana mixture into the pan in an even layer.
8.Freeze.
9.Cut banana mixture into squares (use a graham cracker as a pattern)
10.Assemble ice cream sandwiches.
11.Wrap in plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag to store.

This was on my table when I came back from a break. Uh uh...I turned around and put them on the table behind me. I love this candy but no way!3 -

@cyndiesstuff good luck for your interview. everything happens for a reason. I loved the TED video you posted it was brilliant useful and so timely. I got myself all worked up at work yesterday and I was dreading going to work today. Having watched the video I checked my 'tude and had a better day than I would have had otherwise. 4 days into my sugar ban and I am feeling really good. Someone left homemade lemon cake on my desk. I put it in a box and brought it home. I was so hungry after teaching I made myself cheesy scrambled egg as a snack and shuned the cake. I was so busy in the morning I didn't have time for my mid morning snack. After teaching I felt a bit rung out so I went into one of the classrooms and did a 7 min yoga work out which helped me to feel calmer.

@amsandos I am glad you could use the info in that ted talk. sometimes they have some pretty great things in there. I have really been using meditation to calm my mind. and with the positive self talk I am a real work in progress!! and congrats on passing on that lemon cake. I know how hard that is for you. but every day you push that ball down the other side of the hill, the behavior becomes more automatic!!
@Mrsbell8well lol I can eat a whole handful of those, I have them in may candy dish at my office. but like @amsandos says, "Those are not for me"1 -
Check in for: Monday
Logged food: Yes, under
Water: 64oz
Steps and Exercise: 19,176 steps, 1 hour walking
Yesterday went well! I took a couple of walks outside, ate healthy, and had enough water. I’ve also been doing some thinking about what has worked in the past and what hasn’t. I took a closer look at my weights from March to May and realized I only lost 1.4 pounds in 3 months! At that rate, I calculated it would take me 5.5 YEARS to get to my goal weight! But if I lose 0.6 pounds per week, I could get to my goal weight in 1 year – sounds a whole lot better to me! Nothing like a little math to help me realize it’s time to get down to business and get this done now.
So for the rest of this month, I’m committing to staying under my calories every single day. No excuses! This is generally my daily goal, but I seem to take a day or two off a week and it has slowed my progress way too much. I eat back exercise calories, so on days that I know will be higher in calories, I’ll just need to plan ahead and make sure I get enough exercise in to compensate. This is what I did in February and had a successful month…so I think it’s worth doing again. Yesterday was Day 1 of 28 (since I started on June 3rd).
Today’s plan: Log food and stay under calories, drink 64 oz of water, 12,000 steps, 30 minute walk outside, and plan tomorrow’s meals and snacks.
@cyndiesstuff Good luck on your interview tomorrow!
@sleepymom5 Sorry to hear your hip is giving you so much trouble! ☹ Hope it is feeling better since this morning!

Daily Check in: Monday
Food: Logged somewhat, under I think
Water: good
Exercise & steps: Not much exercise; 13,123 steps
I've been busy getting my vegetable garden planted so exercise has been pushed to the back burner. The rule of thumb here in Montana is to not plant until Memorial Day so I'm not too far off schedule but I hadn't even had time to prep the garden beds or start some seeds. Was planning to scale back this year but I have a hard time actually doing that. So far I have tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, broccoli, assorted peppers and herbs. I hope to get everything done in the next day or two so I can make it to a yoga class this week. The Farmer's Market had pea shoots so I made a pasta dish for dinner with whole wheat fettuccine, mushrooms, peas and pea shoots. It was tasty but I'm not exactly sure of the calories.
@cyndiesstuff Good luck with your interview although I don’t think you need it! And remember you're interviewing them as well. No point leaving a job you hate to go to another one equally bad or worse!
@sleepymom5 I’m so sorry your hip is worse. Traveling is hard on the body in ways we don’t realize/anticipate.
@phoebe112476 Nice loss! I know you want to lose weight slowly but personally I'm tickled to see you so consistently successful. Hope your dog is continuing to improve. Poor baby.
@Shirin_K Ha I've had those months myself. Nothing like a little mathematical reality check to kick ya in high gear!
@gottagetthisdown Gosh I think prepping can be such a lifesaving tool. I would hope your nutritionist can work some flexibility into her plan.
@carlsoda I used to have a 3:00 afternoon sweet tooth. I managed to kick that but now I have a salt tooth that I'm having trouble kicking! We all have our weaknesses, don't we? And I think its perfectly acceptable to splurge occasionally when its something you love and enjoy.
@pacsnc6 Wow, teaching a blind person to relearn to crochet sounds amazing. What a wonderful gift! I've tried to learn to crochet and haven't been able to grasp it. Maybe some day...
Gotta run... wishing everyone a great day!

Later check in but better late than never! I had another running gait assessment yesterday. It went well & she pushed me to run faster, which I did. Sports massage is later this week & it will be good for me, but ouch!
@cyndiesstuff - good luck with the interview! You will do great!!
@sleepymom5 - hope that your hip feels better! Best to get it checked out.3 -
Tuesday check in
Food-didn't log and over
Water-over 80oz
Exercise and steps-none and 4652 steps
My hip is really bad, it feels like it also my lower back now too. It got worse as the day went on. Ibuprofen didn't help and I took the prescription strength. My husband asked me why I didn't go to urgent care, it just never occurred to me. I wish I did. Tomorrow(well technically today) I am leaving. If I am as bad as I was today, I am going to have to get a wheelchair in the airport. There is no way I can walk that distance. I am hoping since I did rest, iced and stretch, it will help for tomorrow. I am hoping I just pushed by walking on the beach the other day. I am going to try to get in with the doctor on Thursday. I am not sure if I even have to see her, she may just write a script for imaging since she has seen me twice for this.
I am not sure if I will be on tomorrow. I am up late so may not be up early enough to check back in. I have to check out of the hotel, go to my Moms for a little bit and then drive 1.5 hours to Orlando. I won't get back to Philly until late so I will probably go right to bed. We will see how it goes. I do have breakfast and lunch planned. Not sure about dinner. I am hoping to have lunch late so I don't have to worry at the airport.
@carlsoda Nice day! Great idea to cut out the sweets. I am sure you did this when you did the whole 30.
@cyndiesstuff That stinks! Good luck tomorrow! I like your goals, I need to sit down and do them as well. I just need to get home... I am worried about my hip too. I am going to call when I get home.
@jedaschultz I liked your long term and short term goals I find if I prelog my food, I am better with not going over with my calories.
@Mrsbell8well Great job resisting the candy!
@amsandos I am so impressed how you are working to figure out everything. You are really doing awesome! Great job passing on the lemon cake. That is one of my favorites!
@Shirin_K I like your goal to stay under every day-no excuses. I need to do that one too. I am probably doing the same as you. I need to sit down and figure things out like you did. I love all your goals! You got this Shirin!
@nstephenson01 You must have had a pretty active day with all those steps! Glad you are getting your garden finished . It is going to be nice to have such a selection once everything starts to grow!
@baby_carrit Nice loss! What a great way to start the month!
@Cafelelia Another awesome day! Hope the gait analysis went well.

Daily check in Tuesday
Food ate on plan
Water 70 oz
Exercise 30 minutes walk
Steps 12443 steps
credit worth acts for yesterday, i accomplished my goals yesterday. i did not over eat. not once. i drank my water, i got in my exercise, i made my 24 hour plan and stuck to it, i was very active with 12443 steps and i felt a little more at peace. i still haven't gotten my veggie garden planted. it is still way to wet to even prep the bed. i sure hope the dry spell continues for another day or two. but they are calling for rain today. i was really worked up yesterday about the interview, but by 10 i had shaken that feeling off. i got my hair colored last night and my friend who is also my hair dresser helped me pick the dress i was going to wear to my wedding. i have two i bought and i love them both. it is so nice to have a friend to just share these things with. you may not know this about me, but i am kinda a loner. i am not sure if that is healthy or not. as i am researching my compulsive over eating it talks a lot about how we isolate ourselves because of internal shame. hmmmm..... i am going to explore that idea a little more. well, this morning is the phone interview. i am going to wow them with my knowledge and wit!! she will be hanging up from our call saying, " Wow, she is the perfect fit for this position," and if not, it wasn't meant to be anyway.
What i will do today, it is just one day, i can manage one day.
after my interview, i will spend 5 minutes in meditation to refocus my mind.
my mantra for today is, "I am at peace around food" at least 5 time
10k steps
30 minute walk
eat when hungry and stop when satisfied
if i get snacky, i will journal about it first
bare my soul to my counselor tonite
yoga and stretching
@carlsoda joy food is a must if you are going to make this weight loss permanent. they say that it should be 10 % of your weeks food. but we need to make sure we plan it. impulsive eating is not joy food, even tho it certainly does feel joyous. i am in love with chocolate myself. i would swim in a bowl of chocolate with a bowl of chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup and chocolate chips. it is one of my trigger foods.
@sleepymom5 ohhhh no. you better rest that hip. don't push it. and get to the doctor when you get home. sometimes it is not conditioner, it is the water, they may have a water softener and it is not working properly. you probably hurt your back over compensating for your hip. don't let your pain make you give up on yourself. you can work on yourself even if your hip and back hurts.
@jedaschultz you had a very good day yesterday. and i like your 4 circles. you and me, we have been here a long time. but you know what that says about us? that we never give up. you are going to lose this weight and get healthy. make sure every morning you start your day with the positive great things you did the day before and then tell yourself I am successful. i do this even before i get out of bed and i do it out loud. this is the last time we are going to lose this weight.
@Shirin_K nothing like reevaluating your plan when it is not working. now, break that down into a daily 24 hour plan and lets make today the best day yet!!
@nstephenson01 well really gardening is exercise so you are still exercising. and your dinner sounds yummm. and i agree about interview them. i have already researched this guys branch. but the interview will be with a recruiter, not the actual branch i will be working for. thats the second interview. i have to make it past this first screening interview first.
@baby_carrit nice loss. 2 lbs!! thats great. cyndie is doing the happy dance all around her office. now. tell us about what you want to do this month. what are your goals? there are 2 exercises at the top of this thread you should pick one or do both and share your results. they are at the very beginning at the introduction to June. the more you share and participate in the group the more successful you will be. we can help you lose this weight for good but not without your help.
@eyesopennow becareful on your trip. and thanks! i am going to kill it!!
@GingerPwr that is just a small gain. you got this. what will you do today? what is the next best decision you can make?

Daily check in for Tuesday:
- Food - logged and just very little over
- Sweet - had 1.5 pancake with maple syrup
- Late snack - some strawberries
- Water - 2 l
- Exercise - 60 min weight lifting + 10 min stretching
- Steps - 5369
My plan for Wednesday:- 60 min jogging - already did 20 of them
- 20 min stretching
- to stay away from the sweets and the late night snacks
It's little hard for me to concentrate on my work today. I work from home and I get easily distracted, so I have to catch up in the evening on the weekend. So on Friday is my boy's last day at the Kinder garden, and there's going to be a big celebration. So he needs a white or blue shirt or something with sailor motives. I went to the local stores but couuldn't find something suitable. He has several white ones, but they all have stains I can't fully wash. So I decided to cut a stencil in the form of an anchor and use some of the textile paint I have to decorate one of them. Here is the test version I did on one of my old T-shirts:
It's not perfect and I'm still wondering if I should make Hubby to bye a real stencil from downtown on his way home from work... I found one with a beautiful ship, but no suitable anchors...

Phone interview done! I felt good about it. We will see. So now I call the other branch and speak to the Financial advisor and introduce myself. and then wait for word.... either a in person interview at new branch or a rejection email.11 -
As you probably have noticed, i’m a sucker for any of those 28-Day Challenge things - i find they help me stay on track and keep me from getting bored, as well as i usually get to learn something new everyday, like a new workout move, nutrition info etc which i love!
Im currently on Day 10 of the ‘28 Days To Fit, Fierce & Fabulous’ challenge which i found at a book sale and so far I’m really liking it! Each day gives a new word / mantra to focus on, a new food to try, and 2 personal ‘challenges’, as well as workout suggestions. I really like working on strengthening my mental muscles as well as my body muscles!
I’m enjoying the routine of waking up and having my tea while reading up on my daily goal suggestions before heading out the door!
Today’s outline:
Word of the day : Creative
Mantra for the day : I am an awe inspiring artist!
Fab Food of the Day : Pomegranate
Recipe Idea : Baked Salmon with Pomegranate, Cilantro + Quinoa
Fitness Challenge : HIIT Shred + Shine (page 221)
Daily Challenge 1: Awaken Your Inner Artist - set aside some time today to find a creative outlet that you haven’t had time for lately
Daily Challenge 2: Have Some Fun With Your Closet - create a new outfit from what you already have!

@sleepymom5 i’m so sorry to hear about your hip! I hope you can find some relief soon!
@cyndiesstuff i’m happy to hear you feel good about your phone interview! And now we wait...
@Moarrein that anchor shirt is awesome - great work! i think it looks just as good as a store bought stencil! if i were you I’d be like ‘Done! Another task off the list!’ lol because it truly looks really good!3 -
Here’s my goals. I found a notebook to put these circle goals in for each day.
Tuesday goals
Calories yes
Exercise yes
Water close
Steps 10,1333 -
@sleepymom5 - oh no Pam...I hope your hip is better today. Make sure you see a doctor (or chiropractor) soon. I'm sure it's scary.
@cyndiesstuff - I am so glad the phone interview went well! I am sending a ton of positive vibes to the universe for you!! I am also like you - swimming in cadbury's chocolate...yummy!! I also love the idea of "JOY FOOD" - oh my goodness new concept for me. Usually I never plan for sweets, because you don't do that when you are dieting. Isn't that the most stupid mentality in the world??
@Mrsbell8well - big ole' WOOT for the loss! Good job!!!
Tuesday check in
Food - almost on plan! I was still hungry after dinner and ate some paleo bites which wasn't on my plan. What I should have done was have more water and I likely would have been fine
Water - good!!
Exercise - 11,000+ steps and 15 minutes yoga
Today's Plan:
24 hour plan made
14,000 steps today, no yoga
no eating off plan!
I've been binge listening to PNP - oh my gosh I just love her (even with all the cursing!!). What I love most is the idea of not counting calories. This is about making a livable lifestyle for the rest of my life. Like she said - do you want to be counting calories when you are 75? Heck no! I want to know when I'm hungry for food and when to stop and cut out any emotional or boredom eating. I want to understand me! I'm still tracking on MFP, but my ultimate goal is to not worry so much about calories. I have found when you cut out processed carbs and sugar you can eat more and still lose weight. You're filling your body with healthy foods that burn more efficiently.
And with that thought...better get to work and work efficiently
Have a wonderful Wednesday group!

I have to run! I didn't realize how late it was! Have a good day everyone!
@eyesopennow You are going to be in my neck of the woods. How long of a drive do you have? What part of Philly? I am in Havertown. Sorry to hear of your loss. Safe travels.
@GingerPwr That is basically a maintain. Don't let it derail you!
@cyndiesstuff So many positives-good interview, great day yesterday, picking out which dress...I can't believe how close the wedding is!! I am not going to let my hip derail me, I don't even have an inkling of changing what I am doing with my eating plan. I am so disappointed though, I was looking forward to the summer at the shore with the kayak, bike and beach walks. I am just going to have to not get ahead of myself and see what the doctor and tests say what is wrong. (I also think you are right about the water. The same thing happened yesterday. I used all these hair products during the trip and it has only happened at this hotel)
@Mrsbell8well Awesome loss Lady! Look at you go!!
@Moarrein I am so glad you are jumping right in and posting each day! You are doing great! The anchor looks great! That will look so cute on your son's shirt! Before I read your post all the way through, I was thought that was his shirt! Lol! I was thinking that is a big kindergartener! Enjoy! I know I hated it when my kids were little but it goes fast so enjoy every second.
@twyla77 I have to get that book! That would be a good routine for me in the summer.
Although I would want you to make my journal Lol! My chicken scratch wouldn't be so appealing. I am glad that you are enjoying it! You are doing awesome!
@jedaschultz Looks like you had a good day yesterday! Keep it going! Love your goals too!
@carlsoda Still a good day even with the paleo bites but you are right, probably some water would have done it too. That is what I need to do when I feel hunger, especially at night. That is exactly why I love Phit and Phat too. Of course commenting to you, I realized how late it is so got to run! I have to check out of hotel!1 -
Daily check in for: Tuesday
Logged food: Yes, under (Day 3)
Water: 64oz
Steps and Exercise: 12,422 steps, 45 min walk
I stuck with my plan yesterday – water, food, and exercise all on target. I had a nice walk with a friend in the morning and made a trip to the library. I also preplanned and logged my food and snacks for today - feels good having that already figured out. Today is my 1st grader’s last day of school! I can’t wait to have him home for the summer!
Today’s plan:
- Log food and stay under calories
- Drink 64 oz of water
-10,000 steps
- Yoga
- Plan tomorrow’s meals and snacks
@nstephenson01 That pasta dish sounds delicious! I don’t think I’ve ever tried pea shoots, but I’m going to keep an eye out for them now.
@Moarrein I think the stencil you created looks awesome! Nice check in and goals, too!
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Late check in for Tuesday June 4
Logged: yes, but over. All was good until kids went to bed, hung out with husband watching tv in the family room next to kitchen then we had tons of snacks. I need to create a late night snack “guide”. Or just go to bed.. I get so hungry when I am tired. His usual routine when he is home is to stay up until about midnight to catch up on sports, shows he taped and relax. I have a hard time with this, my best month losing weight was because I go up at 9:30 pm, relax in bed reading news, our posts, and reflect on my day and what is in store for tomorrow. I sleep so much better and seem to have more control this way. I wasn’t doing this in May.. we had family visiting for a long time, so staying up talking and watching tv snuck back into my routine. I think I’ll track that this month.
Water: good. About 2L
Steps: 7,076
Exercise: yes. Strength class at gym
Vitamins: yes. (New goal for June. Develop habit of taking vitamins every day.)3 -
after I had the phone interview, I waited for about a half hour and then I called the branch I applied at and spoke with the financial advisor. that little impromptu interview went great. I told him that I was just reaching out to let him know that I was really interested in the opening in his office. we had a nice chat maybe 10 minutes or so. he learned a little about me and I learned a little about him. and he told me that as soon as he got the information from my phone interview from home office he would definitely be calling me for an in person interview. guess who just called....... I have an in person interview next Thursday at 10:30!!! I am as giddy as a school girl!!
@Mrsbell8well cyndie is dancing on the ceiling!! wow what a great loss. I love your recommitment to finishing what you started. we are going to do this sister!!
@Moarrein first of all I just love that shirt. you are very crafty. l love that you hand made that for your child. what a great momma!! have you ever thought about logging or making your food plan the day before or in the morning before the day starts? I make my 24 hour plan in the morning before I leave for work. its very simple. and it is on my kitchen counter so I can mark stuff off my list. this is for today:
apple
cheerios
hard boiled egg
lean cuisine
veggie bag and hummus
home made spaghetti
outshine popsicle
now I know exactly what I am going to eat today. no excuses. only put on you plan food that you are 90% sure you are going to stick to. the more you do this the more you build momentum because you are proving to yourself you can stick to a plan!!
@twyla77 I love your 28 day plans. they really seem to help motivate you to change behavior!! lol and we didn't have to wait long. I wowed that guy when I called him to introduce myself!!
@jedaschultz I love love love your 4 circles. you can totally do this. one day at a time you are going to get this done!! and it all starts with today. today is the only time you have control over. you can't change your past and you cant predict your future. but today is ours to make it what we want!!
@carlsoda I am glad you like the joy food thing. I had heard that in someones podcast and it makes since. we need to include joy in our lives even with food. so if you plan it and don't pig out on it. it can really fit into your new life. the in control you decides your joy food. not the I need a snack I'm in the frig or cabinet looking that's impulsive eating and that is what we are trying to limit!! and when you get snacky like that, try getting a drink of water and journaling about it. after 10 minutes if you still want it eat some. and I feel the same way about when I found those podcasts. it was a game changer for sure
@sleepymom5 you be safe coming back. you are going to figure this out too. this is life. and your plan has to work every day no matter what is going on. keep working it girl. this is the last time we are going to do this. have you listened to any podcasts lately? maybe you should binge on some on your drive back!
@Shirin_K yayayay you did it! 3 days in your string of days of meeting your goals. I knew you could do it.
@Julie8468 it is really not hunger when your tired. more than likely it is urges. urges are like bad habits. the more you give in the more you do it. and when your tired you just don't have the energy to put up the good fight. so I think you going to bed is your answer. and taking those vitamins are important. they are part of packing my breakfast and lunch for the day. the first thing I do is bring out my vitamins and put them in my lunch bag. like anything else it is a habit. you know and I was thinking about you today! I am glad your here. not lets get busy making those new habits and remember, SMILE!! it looks good on you.6 -
Yesterday morning we took the pedal boat to the lake for 45 minutes on the water. A great day for that - it was not too hot and a light breeze made it very enjoyable. Today was my last day for back pack buddies (we pack ten bags of food each week for kids at the elementary school to take home for their weekend meals) until September. I'll have to come up with another activity for Wednesday mornings for the summer.
I tried to re-teach my blind friend to crochet this morning. She gave up too soon because she couldn't see what she was doing. I tried to get her to do it by touch and I gave her the yarn and hook to take home. She said she used to crochet and it was obvious she knows how to hold and maneuver the hook but .... she says the feeling in one hand is almost gone too.
It has to be frustrating when you can't see things clearly anymore.
She makes the best cookies still. I wouldn't be surprised if she brings some to the next meeting.4 -
@cyndiesstuff your message made me tear up, thank you so much for being here with us! I’ll get working on the urges, and the vitamins are less hard on my stomach, I’m trying new ones, but still hard to swallow. I’m so glad to hear about your progress on the new job. I hope all goes well, if you get it how will it affect your schedule? will you still have time for us?2
-
Just leaving Montreal now, on train to go home. Was working in Montreal office today and had meetings.
Thought I would share some pictures of the bakeries they have here, which I was able to resist, the little meringue pie would be too pretty to eat anyway. There are many shops, wine store, flower shop, hand made chocolates, but my favourite is the bakery.5 -
I forgot to mention these are all at the Gare Centrale train station.
