    Happy Monday!!

    Sunday Check in

Food - not enough I think. Since I don't crave sugar, I am able to tolerate being hungry so much better. I had a late breakfast and have an RX Bar in the afternoon and had dinner around 6:30. All Whole30, but not very well balance.
Water - definitely not enough. 3 cups of coffee yesterday and only 3 cans of Waterloo water
Exercise - yoga and 11,000+ steps

Yesterday was a lazy day. It was so hot here yesterday that we just hung out inside, did some reading, did some yoga and a Leslie Sansome video on youtube.

@amsandos - did you get tangled up when you were swimming? Yikes!!! Scary!!

@cyndiesstuff - yesterday sounds like a great day for you! Yeah it's funny how just hanging out can make you so tired. I was tempted to take a nap yesterday afternoon, but I knew I needed exercise and I did feel better afterwards..more awake :)

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!! New week, new opportunity to practice those good habits!!

Leaving a job is always a mixed bag of feelings. When I retired I was thrilled to no longer needing to go to work every day, but sad that I would not be seeing my friends in the office every day either. I was happy too because we were starting to build our new house. But not sure I would have enough to keep myself busy every day either. But you are moving to a job that will use more of your skills and it sounds like you are staying with the same company/employer so you might keep in touch with people there?
Good luck with the beginning of a new phase in your life.

Back to work this morning. I really enjoyed our beach vacation. I never thought I would swim in the ocean again. I got shot in the butt with BB gun type sand shots blasting my butt a few years ago after a 1/2 marathon we did. It was hard to get out of the water and with all the shark stories I wasn't enthused. But looking at all that gorgeous water I succumbed. It was heavenly. I always made sure someone was swimming in front of me just in case there was a shark but I prayed for their safety. as we were packing Molly pulled up a google story about a woman that video taped a shark near the sand in Virginia beach on July 3rd. But I survived. with no sharks. We enjoyed the morning sightings of dolphins every morning. I grew up a few miles from the beach in southern California so it really brought back nice summer memories.
For lunch yesterday we took the old folks to a famous buffet seafood restaurant, Captain Georges. Mom loves seafood but didn't know how to crack crab legs. I finally couldn't take it anymore so I ended up doing it for her. I cracked a huge stack of legs for her. She was in heaven.
As we were driving back I started getting one of my bad headaches. I barely made it home. They are so beastly. I collapsed in bed at 6pm and didn't wake up until 6am. I am lots better than I was but still a bit shaky. I bought some new books on health. I would really like to get to a point were I can eliminate these headaches for good. I came so close to taking Ibuprofen but passed out before I could get that far.
I am sooooo ready for retirement. I was dreading going in to work this morning. Sigh. I just want to be a lazy butt. Or have time to do what I want to do. I am fortunate to have a very good job with a very supportive boss but boy I really did not want to come back. Trying to change my attitude and do what I need to do.

@carlsoda I would love to hang out with you. I always enjoy your adventures.
@twyla77 nice pic! Thanks for posting.
@cyndiesstuff sorry you weren't feeling well. You always get so much done in your weekend. Change is always full of angst even when it is good.
@Moarrein great job enjoying your vacation and maintaining. I am up a few pounds myself but expect to be back to my goal by Wednesday weigh in.
@nstephenson01 It really is more of a mental struggle than what we eat. I run into this all the time. Hang in there.
@sleepymom5 sounds like your enjoying your summer even with all the aches and pains and family events. The Summer goes so fast so I am glad you get to enjoy the bike riding, walks, and kayaking.

    Have a great week everyone!!!

    Daily check in for Sunday
Food didn't log but not bad
    Water 64 oz
    Exercise 30 min walk
    Steps 5,267

Yesterday was ok. It wasn't bad but it could have been better. Does anyone else do things and then thinking back say-why did I do that? For example, I had a few drinks yesterday but I ordered a drink off the drink menu that I used to get last year. After 2 of them, I was thinking why did I order that? I love going to a bar and ordering a fancy drink off the menu but I haven't done that in at least a year without making a conscious decision about having one. They are so sweet and full of sugar. I actually used to love this drink but didn't like it as much yesterday. Another thing I did was eat between lunch and dinner when I wasn't hungry. I wasn't sure what time we would be going to dinner and I was worried I would get too hungry later if I didn't have something. I used to do this all the time and is something I have been working on. I have actually have been pretty successful with this. Not saying that I still don't eat when I am hungry but when my excuse is I might get hungry later I usually stop myself. Weird but I guess sometimes you just slip back into old habits so easily. Gave me a lot to think about...Today Jim and I are going on the jet ski to breakfast if he ever wakes up. Lol! I think this will be lunch for me because we won't eat before 11:30 at this rate. Not sure what else he wants to do but I will get at least 1/2 hr of exercise in. I am not a jet ski person. It is really not my thing at all. Maybe I will tell him I will take the kayak and meet him there... Have a good day everyone!

@Mrsbell8well Sounds like you did great even with a few obstacles. I think Molly will slowly start to join in your physical activities as she gets more confident in herself. Remember that dinner with Robin way back when she wasn't as supportive as she is now. Look how much she has changed, with you leading the way I may add :) I think this bike training is going to be a game changer. I wish I could give you a big hug in person! You have worked so hard to change and improve your life and you are inspiring everyone around you. I am glad you had such a nice time away. I literally Lol'd with the shark story (I made sure someone was in front of me but I prayed for their safety :D )
@Carlsoda What a cool day Saturday! I actually can't believe it was just a day Lol! My husband and I do a trip every year in Oct. We alternate between US and overseas. This year it is the US. I was trying to put together a trip that we could go to those areas, it started as a great lakes tour but that got a little long. I may hit you up for info at some point. Although we should go to Houston and see our son this year. I seem to miss him more than the hubs Lol! "We will see him at Dan's wedding in November" . Ugh! I think a lazy day was in order Sunday but happy to see you still got your workout in!
@CassieGetsFit2013 I hope everything is getting better for you.
@twyla77 You do travel a lot so it is harder to stay in a routine. You do seem to take it in stride and make good choices while you are away and get back into your routine when you get home. Thanks for sharing the picture, I love horses and you look great!
@nstephenson01 I have to say I feel the same way about starting out strong and then fizzling out mid month. I think when you reflect, you should give yourself credit for what you did well and the work on the behaviors you need to change. It is a learning process so don't beat yourself up, just try to figure it out. Look how far you have come. You can do this!
@ljdanny You are really doing amazing with the exercising. What a long hike! My husband never wants to do anything like that either. I was thinking it would be cool if we all lived closer. I am glad you still went without him. Hope you have another amazing week!
@amsandos Maintaining isn't bad. Better than the scale going up. You failed a fitness test? Are you kidding me? You must be in great shape with all the workouts and marathons you do. That must have been some overachiever's fitness test. I am with @cyndiesstuff, I want to hear that weed story too! Lol! Were you swimming? Or someone didn't mow where you were running? How's everything else going? I ate between meals when I wasn't hungry yesterday. I am back at it today.
@Moarrein I think the day after you come back is exercise enough with the cleaning, wash, shopping Lol! Awesome job maintaining while away but I am not surprised, I think you did well while you were away. Hope you had a great trip.
@cyndiesstuff Some days you need to listen to your body. I feel asleep on the deck by the water and didn't wake up until Jim came out. Last thing I remember was him saying he was leaving PA so I was out a good hour and a half Lol! The bar is doing great, we are getting a lot of great feedback. Even my hair dresser was telling me how she is hearing a lot of good things. It is really a bar with food, not a restaurant but people a raving about the food. That's actually why I stay away, the food is so good! Lol! How is Josh doing? I would think better since he spent the day with you. Hope all is well with him. It is going to be bitter sweet leaving your job. All the job related BS will be nice to leave behind but leaving all the clients that you built a relationship with over the years is going to be difficult. Change is hard but I think it was time for you to move on. Hugs!

@sleepymom5 I did the same thing yesterday. I looked back and said why did I just do that. For snack I had a small s oop of ice cream then my son's girlfriend made cupcakes. I ate one, only one but still. After I ate it I looked at my husband and said that just screwed up my 7 mile walk. My husband laughed and said this is because I left the zebra cakes at the store. Good thing I didn't have a lot of calories yesterday. But some of the calories I had were not to healthy. I decided I can't beat myself up over it because I haven't been having a lot snacks lately. Today is new day. I brought my workout clothes to go walking after work and then realized I forgot an item so I will have to go home to change and pick a new walking route for today.

1lb down and I'm grateful. But I really wanted to lose 2lbs. My sleep has been terrible since the move. I'm basically staying up until 2 then sleeping 40mins here, an hour there. My goal this week is to drop another 2lbs and learn to sleep in my new environment. My lack of energy is hindering how hard I workout.

Wishing you all a good Monday!

@ljdanny that's quite a walk to do by yourself. Good for you for sticking with it.
@sleepymom5 absolutely I agree with you and @ljdanny about eating or drinking something and then wondering what it the world that was all about???. Were human trying to find how we fit into this social world of food and drink. And I do find when we ask for something to be prepared special for us, it often is more tasty than what others are eating. I will post some pics later.
I really do wish we all lived closer to support each other in our activities. I have never been one for making friends and now I wish I had my team members here to join me on my hikes, runs, swims etc.
and yes Pam you are right...Robin is falling into my foot steps and I am thrilled! Thanks for the support and the virtual hugs. It means a lot to me!

Hi everyone. I had a great weekend in Pittsburgh! We did lots of walking and whatnot... eating wasn't too bad but still had a gain this morning. Previous weekend + holiday we were in Chicago and then I had a nasty cold I picked up (starting to feel better now and it's been a week!) so it's been a bit of a whirlwind for the beginning of the month. No more traveling for now so I'm trying to slow the summer down now.

I'm going to try to the ladder challenge. I didn't see it yesterday but I did walk for at least 20 minutes or whatever it was so I'll hop in today intentionally.

Alsooo my next audition for the dance group I'm in is in 41 days. I'm going to try (REALLY TRY) to lose 5 lbs before then. This should not be impossible. I picked out a gym routine on one of my apps to try to start tonight that actually incorporates the machines and whatnot I like to use at the gym so it might be easier to follow along with than when I tried strong curves. Anyway, that's the plan! REALLY trying.

Checking in late and need to catch up. How's everyone doing?

Good on food, water and steps yesterday. Put a post-it note on the fridge with my 169 weight. Its staring at me each time I open the fridge. 165 here I come.
Each day is full lately but I'm grateful for so many things that I can't complain. Quick dog walk, yoga class then took my dog Willow up to Missoula for her yearly check up with the heart specialist. Didn't even know we had one here until she was diagnosed with a heart murmur last year and her vet referred us to the specialist. didn't get the greatest news today but she's an old girl with abundant energy and still keeps up on our hikes. Its all about quality of life for my sweet girl.

And hubby is sick... so sick that he actually went to urgent care. Blew my mind. He never goes to the doctor. Doc put him on penicillin but didn't test for strep. I hate for him to be sick especially when I'm so far away and can't nag him to take care of himself. LOL Hope he feels better soon but he sounds awful.

@ljdanny My husband doesn't like to hike either. Good for you for going ahead!
@sleepymom5 I've been thinking about your 3/4 plan which I like in theory but then I think about the sodium and hidden fat restaurants use to make the food taste good. I'm thinking depending on what the dish is 1/2 to 2/3 might be better. I'll be eating out this weekend so I'm going to try to keep that in mind. What is your off menu drink? I'm so curious! I have a new creation... maybe not new but new to me... vodka soda, lime & a splash of campari.

I'm reading a book about plant based eating which I'm not going to do 100% but she writes about crowding out the bad foods with good foods. I like the concept... more veggies (or whatever) on the plate means less room for the not so healthy stuff. Baby steps work for me!

So think about crowding out the bad stuff with more healthy stuff team! Wishing everyone a great week!

Happy to report another great day!! I need to keep it going! I will check in tomorrow. Have a good night everyone!

@ljdanny I think we both have a weakness for sweets so I can totally understand what a big deal it was not to buy those zebra cakes and how easy it was to have a cupcake. You didn't ruin your walk-you stopped yourself and that was good. Your husband's comment did crack me up though! Lol! You are right-new day, clean slate! Hope it was a good one!
@McKay85 I have your previous weight as being 317.5 so you are actually down 1.5lbs this week! Very close to your goal of two pounds! Good luck with your sleeping. Hopefully it is just that you are in a new place. I know how lack of sleep can really ruin your whole day so I hope you can figure it out soon.
@DananaNanas Sounds like you have been having a fun summer! I like your plan for the gym. I feel like once you get into a routine there, it will be easier to go. I think you can hit your goal or get close. You got this!!
@amsandos I was thinking you must have been swimming. I got tangled up in those lilly pad things once. What a pain! I am sure you would be a great life guard. I know back in the day we weren't alone so that would make it a little less stressful. I wouldn't think they would have weeds where they would let people swim. I think you should go for it. I know you can do it!
@mrsbell8well Love the pics! Your parent's are the cutest! Looks like everyone was having a nice time!
@bmaison2014 Looks like the scale is moving in the right direction!
@nstephenson01 Is Willow ok enough to continue with her hikes? I hope so. How old is she? I hope your husband is better too. MK just had strept throat and was put on an antibiotic and we were back there again this weekend because it still hurt. The rapid strept was neg but the sent a culture out to the lab. Looks like it is going around out here. Tell him to throw out his tooth brush and get a new one. I usually drink prosecco but I need to find a mixed drink. I used to drink wine and got myself down to prosecco, now to get down a little more. Your drink sounds good. I will have to try that. I also agree with eating out the 1/2 to 2/3 is probably better. I feel like I am at least narrowing it down.

    Daily check in for Monday
    Food on plan
    Water 60 oz
    Exercise 2- 30 minute walks
    Steps 13365

and so it begins. i got 4 phone calls yesterday from some of my clients. i have to get better at explaining why i am leaving. i can't tell them the truth. well i suppose i could but what good would that do. and then try to comfort them. so it was a long day. but i made it. i don't suspect today will be better. i wish i could skip this part of my move. my day is planned. i have counseling tonite.

@carlsoda is has been hot here as well. this week is suppose to be sweltering. not going to complain. it will be winter soon enough. and your right sometimes a body just needs to rest.

@pacsnc6 it is hard preparing to leave this job. i want to take all of my clients with me but i can't. and i am staying with the same company but because of our business structure, it will be very hard to keep in touch with others. this is a good move for me. i can't wait to get settled into my new position. and i am not going to eat my way thru it. i am going to enjoy every minute, even the uncomfortable ones!!

@Mrsbell8well wait.... someone shot you in the butt? and the ocean is so beautiful. it sounds like your vacation was wonderful. and i truly believe that if the answer for your headaches is out there you will find it. and that is the problem with vacations... it is sooo difficult to go back to work after you have enjoyed your freedom. soon lady. soon you will be in that stage of your life. i bet you are going to have a blast. ohhhh myyyy goshhhh you are so sticking cute. look at that cute hair. and the smiles. ladies you are killing it!!

@sleepymom5 and yes... here is a why did i do that moment i had yesterday. i was at work and bored and tired and emotionally drained. and i thought, one little hard candy will fix that urge. and then i ate 6. why did i do that? the fact was i was having a tough afternoon, the though was one candy will fix the urge, the result was i ate 6. we need to change the thought. i will change my thought to, turn on the music and walk and dance thru the office that will fix my urge. work in progress girl. our faulty thinking causes problems. work on fixing the faulty thinking. it takes time and patience and persistence. and really, i don't think that this is unusual to slip back into old habits. they are well engrained. and you have been beating yourself up for about a week too. now get back up and brush yourself off. you got this pam. josh is doing ok. he has be clean for 6 weeks. he has been working his program. he didn't tell me but he was court ordered to go into treatment.

@McKay85 it is so hard to learn to sleep in a new home. have you tried guided sleep meditation? it helps me a lot to shut my mind off. you can find them on utube. nice job on the loss this week. you are doing fantastic. you keep that up girl. what is your plan today? what are your daily goals?

@DananaNanas hey girl!! you have been having an amazing summer. except for that cold. lol. and what is this ladder challenge? so... 5 pounds in 41 days. what is your plan? how are you going to accomplish that?

@amsandos ahhhh, in the water you got tangled up. i was imagining you running and getting tangled up in the weeds. funny picture in my head!! wow. that water rescue stuff is some cool stuff. and i think you are very tenacious and you will figure out how to do this. you just keep working it girl. you are an amazing work of art!!

@bmaison2014 we will take it. how are you doing? what will you do today?

@nstephenson01 ohhh no. i have heard that a summer cold is going around. i hope i don't get it. so lets crowd out the bad stuff with good stuff! love that!!

@cyndiesstuff a few years back Molly and I walked a half marathon at Virginia Beach. I jumped in the ocean when we were done. As I was getting out the current was so strong that it pulled my pants down and I was blasted in the butt by sand grains that felt like BB gun blasts lol. Was scary.
I’m trying to get my groove back. Did a juice cleanse yesterday and will do the same today.
First week of maintenance feels just as hard as “dieting”. I know how fast that scale goes back up and old habits slip right back in. Not this time.
Off to make some celery juice. Have a good day everyone.

    Monday Check in:

    Food - great!
    Water - great!
Exercise - 13,000+ steps and yoga!

Boy my body feels great when I do yoga. Kinda like sugar too, I feel so good being off it and then I slip back into old routines of eating sugar and not doing any yoga. I really have to make this a total lifestyle! I do have in my daily planner to do more yoga tonight :)

I also got my new glasses! I'm still getting used to the progressive part with the computer. Things are still a little fuzzy. Not sure if it's the glasses or if I need to get used to them, but I'll give it a few days and see if it approves. I found an amazing deal at lenscrafters. They had a designer sale going on with 60% off, so I got some fun Burberry glasses and I had enough in my FSA to pay for them. YAY!!

I also found out, but no one told me, my vacation has jumped up to 4 weeks now. I only knew because my vacation balance was growing faster than I anticipated. Typical for my company, a lot of times you don't know anything until you see it for yourself (ie: bonus, raise) :) not going to complain though.

@nstephenson01 - Glad your girl is still doing well and keeping up on the walks. Even with a heart murmur I bet exercise is good for her right? Our last guy (cat), we let him go too long before putting him down and he was so sick at the end. He was a super old guy too, about 18 but had been sick for years. We feel guilty about being so weak to not put him first.

@cyndiesstuff - I have an idea for your phone calls, just let them know another opportunity came up in the company and you couldn't turn it down! They will be happy for you!! Hope today goes smooth!! And stay cool - it was awful here yesterday with 80 degree dew point. It felt like New Orleans in the afternoon, so humid.

@sleepymom5 - great job on the brunch yesterday. You did exactly what you should have done and even left a few bites!! Glad you also had fun jet skiing. I remember my snowmobiling days when I was a kid and I wouldn't let my brother go fast LOL!!

    Have a great day everyone!!

@sleepymom5 Pam glad you had a fun day. My maintenance range is 138-142. 142 is my edge for “normal” range.
@carlsoda yes it definitely is a lifestyle change. Glad u got your glasses. What a great deal!!!

@carlsoda Isn't it funny how we can see the benefits and we still go back to our old habits Lol! I know you will make this a life style. You are one dedicated lady! Wait to take the glasses back. I wear progressives, it takes a little bit to get used to. You have to make a point to look through the bottom for reading. Eventually you don't need to think anymore, it is automatic. I love them, my husband hated them and never got them again. Hope you end up liking them.
That is awesome about your vacation time increasing! What a nice little surprise!
@phoebe112476 I may be wrong but I really think this is the first time you have had a gain since you have been here. At least that I can remember. There is so much that goes into weight so no worries if you have been following your plan. If you aren't following your plan, I know I don't have to tell you what to do. Hope all is well. Let us know if you need anything.
@jedaschultz How's it going? That is just a small gain. I hope everything is going well.
@McKay85 I am glad you got a little stretch of sleep. Sounds like you have a great day planned! Hope it is going well!
@amsandos Good that you're getting your workouts in. Do you think you may be hungrier because of your workouts. You workout hard, your body may need fuel. Maybe you can have some healthy stuff around to grab when you are feeling hungry. You really have been doing well.
