WEIGHT NO MORE TEAM CHAT - JULY 2019

Hello and happy July team. I love reading all about everyone and think it’s so awesome that we are from all different places and can share our stories and how we deal with our health.
I’m 63 years young from Michigan and I have been on some sort of “diet “ my whole life. The good news is - I’m very knowledgeable about what to eat. My struggle seems to be with moderation and controlling my addictive personality. I gave up sweets in November and have been doing awesome with that. I love to dance and do clogging and line dancing usually 3 times a week. I also go to a private gym where I have people pushing me to do my best. The great news is, I’m strong, have great endurance and feel better than I felt in my younger years. I had both hips replaced in 2016 and my new hips work perfectly!! I don’t take that for granted. I’m very grateful that the technology exists to give me the new hips to keep me dancing !!
I love reading the daily posts and this group is a wonderful source of support for everything.7 -
Who would like a hand breaking a long standing habit? I have had an idea. I want to stop eating between meals. I want to make an accountability pact with someone else trying to break a habit in July and inject some fun into it as well. The idea, I have had is that we check in every day let each other know how we are going by tagging each other. If we get to the end of the month without going back to our old habit we send each other something fun through the post. Costing no more than £5ukp or $5usd. A little gift, not food and something that will go through the post. We can use work address to avoid personal details. Would anyone like to do this with me? Tag me in your post or dm me. (Although I have a feeling you can only dm me if we are friends).
I have figured out that my meals are good I just graze too much in between and it is scuppering my weight loss. I ate a massive tub of cherries yesterday all off plan. While cherries aren't the worst thing to over indulge in overindulging in general is not a good thing. I just love eating and eating between meals is something I have been in denial about but it is clear to me that this is going to be a major weight loss nut for me to crack.

@CassieGetsFit2013 I can not imagine how hard it is to live with a condition that makes you feel this way. Personally I have had short bouts of feeling suicidal and it was the people who loved me have always pulled me through. Get the help you need to help you work through this. Anything that can get to you to a place where you can say yes to life and feel good about saying yes.4 -

What's a good day yesterday. A on track. Followed my 24-hour plan. Drink my water got my steps in did my exercise. Good day. My boss decided yesterday that he was leaving at noon and wouldn't be back till Monday. Oh I can't wait to be gone from him. Hopefully the new guys better. A lot of things have been changing in my life. I'm working on building the new me. So far I like her. She gets up early, get stuff done. And is active regardless of the pain. When the onset of pain first started. It took me a long time to adjust. For years I searched for answers. Doctors would tell me what they thought it was. Said they could fix me. And here I am today still in the same pain. It's been 9 years. Took me a long time to adjust. But I think I finally I have it in my mind that I have to learn how to continue to live my life with the pain. So when I'm asked these days how I feel I say I feel great. What choice do I have? The fact is I have a chronic pain condition that cannot be cured. How I choose to feel about that it's totally up to me. In the beginning and for years I felt abandoned, sad, angry, defeated. And what that produced was a Cindy that weighed 197 lb and still had pain anyways. So I can't change the fact that I have pain daily. So I changed the way that I feel about the pain. As long as I'm able to get up and move around I'm okay. I have good days and I have bad days. Just like everybody else. my chronic pain doesn't make me special. I still have to move my body in spite of. And I just decided that if I have to do this anyways I can be happy about it. I've got a great new job, I've got a great new husband and I got my old dog Mack. What more could a girl ask for? I'll catch up with everybody later I've got to go exercise.4 -
@Cafelelia I have been meaning to say how excited I am for you and your family vacation. I’m so glad your staying on our team this month. Molly and I are planning a trip to Scotland someday. Or we may just get that RV and travel. Nice to have options.
I have really been wanting to go on a juice cleanse. The old me was a definite all or nothing girl. I don’t have a clear week until mid July. But this time I decided to modify. I did some juicing and cleansing Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I did what I could with fresh green juices in the morning. And most of the days but an oatmeal blackberry bar on Sunday night, steamed spinach and brown rice Monday night and a salad with some beans, rice and avocado yesterday and a smoothie for dinner. It wasn’t what I wanted. Not perfect but turns out I don’t need perfect anymore.
I finished the evening with a 40 minute strength yoga last night. My boss was in town but I avoided going out to lunch and told him about my goal. He was very supportive.
Today We’re having Mexican food for lunch for my team. They make vegan beans and rice and I will bring my own salad from home.
This is an exciting whole new life. I will celebrate next Wednesday at my 1 year.
Newbies welcome!3 -

There it is! Sweet shining stars success!5 -
Daily Check In: Tuesday
Food: Ate as planned; made the 1st of 2 planned vegetarian dinners/week
Water: Great
Exercise & Steps: 8 mile hike; 23,694 steps
My plan is 2 -3 long hikes per week to increase my endurance. Yesterday was the first one and it kicked my butt LOL but I did it! I'm already more than half way to my weekly goal of 90,000 steps! Today is short walk day and, since we had a much needed rain shower last night, it'll be a good day to tackle some weeds. Also need to make my potluck dish for tomorrow's neighborhood 4th of July party as its one of those that's better the next day. Better get busy before more rain arrives. Wishing everyone a great day!
Congratulations @Mrsbell8well! You're a rock star!!3 -
When you don't go to find cake but the cake finds you! Don't worry it is not for me.2
-
Tuesday check in
Food - great!!
Water - great!
Exercise - 12,000+ steps and yoga
Another great day and you know what absolutely no sugar cravings - I was super stressed yesterday afternoon and that's when I usually give in...but I didn't!!
Today's plan is almost complete. We're having kids and grandkids come over tonight for supper. The girls are in charge of fruit and veg and I'll pick up something healthy from Costco on my way home - meat that is of some sort.
@Mrsbell8well - congratulations!!!! You did it!!!!
@nstephenson01 - good job on the hike and I like your plan! Do you ever worry about bears? That's about the only thing keeping me away from a hiking vacation in Montana!!
@cyndiesstuff - I like the new you too - in fact I like the old you too. With the chronic pain do you take Magnesium Glycinate and Tumeric supplements? They do help with inflammation.
@amsandos - I'm game! I absolutely want to stay away from anything with added sugar in July. That's one of the reasons I'm doing the Whole30 this month. My brain likes sugar but my body doesn't! Just remember no snacking between meals today!!
Have a super good day and to everyone in the US - Happy 4th tomorrow! At 3:00 pm I'll be off until Monday - YAAAAYYYYAAAAAYYYY!!!!5 -
@jedaschultz my bad. sorry my dear!! It's fixed.
@Mrsbell8well yup I am out of here today at 2 and then don't come back to Monday. yesssss!!
@ljdanny I like your plan, zumba then swim!! or maybe just float!! it sure is hot here too.
@McKay85 ohhh that is great! your getting a new house. and yes, I know that moving is a great workout!! you keep this up girl your doing great and I love your attitude.
@sleepymom5 wow you had a very active day. good job. and look at the new pam stopping herself from compulsive eating!! you are really putting your skills to work.
@CassieGetsFit2013 ohhh sweety, first of all hugz.... you know, going to rehab might really help you. I know you can get some intensive therapy when you go to rehab. I think it would really help you. and remember, if it gets to tough, you let someone know before you take those pills. who is your life line? do you have someone to call? I don't want to lose you. you are important to this group. please love yourself enough to take care and get the help you need. xoxoxoxo
@nstephenson01 you are doing awesome. thanks for checking in.
@phoebe112476 way to go phoebe! that is a nice loss. good job. and sometimes I find that I am extra hungry when my macros are not right. have you been tracking your macros?
@Julie8468 you hang in there. times are tough but you are tougher. sometimes this journey can get really difficult but you were made to do difficult things. Pick three positive statements about what you have accomplished so far and meditate on them for a while. positive affirmations can really help train your mind to look to the bright instead of the dark. I am not saying it is easy but I am saying the work is worth it!!
@lennoncpa hey neighbor!! thanks for checking in!!
@amsandos yes. your right, you need to get it under control now. I am just like you in many ways. I love love love food. it is figure out the balance. there really is no bad food, moderation is the key. and that is the problem. and please continue to share your journey. I know your not the only one with this dilemma. I love the pic!! who does that kind of strange trickery. wowow. that is nuts to find that on your desk. hang tight sister, "That's not for you!!" lol
@nstephenson01 make sure to make a plan for your potluck tomorrow. you are doing awesome. 8 miles. wow.
@carlsoda ohhh that is fun. a family dinner. you are doing awesome on that whole 30! I have spent so much money on so many things and none really help me. and yes I have tried them. with no success. so many things help so many people and nothing seems to help me.

Wednesday
Week 1
Starting weight 155
Current weight 154.4
Loss .6
Check in for Wednesday, I just left the gym and was able to increase the weight to 45 pounds for 3 15-count reps of skull crushers. Yeah! My trainer pushed me hard for 30 minutes, it was awesome.
I am on track for food but need to add physical exercise everyday, my goal for this month.6 -
Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all are having a good day! I have come up with a new goal for myself, instead of focusing on drinking a gallon of water a day, I will work on drinking half of my bodyweight in oz of water before I do any workout. During and after the workout I will drink water as needed. Next week will probably be a dairy free week for me, so I might have some frozen yogurt this weekend.5
-
Sorry I won't be able to check in until tonight or tomorrow morning. Hope everyone has a great day!
Whoo hoo!! @Mrsbell8well Congratulations!!!!2 -
well done @Mrsbell8well that is awesome
@cyndiesstuff don't worry it is not personal we don't really have personal spaces in our office it is too small. I steered clear.
daily check in
food on target
water on target

July challenge I did not eat between meals it was really hard I was really hungry in the morning. What surprised me though is that I didn't get hungry until 4pm. I usally have a mid afternoon snack at 3pm. I am excited to be doing this with @carlsoda and @sleepymom5. How is it going?2 -
I forgot to mention - I am so excited but I have a couple of challenges this weekend. firstly I am meeting my friend for Pizza hut on Friday. that is easy I am going to check the menu and decide what I am going to have. I don't like Pizza hut as much as dominos what I usually have with friends. I may just the salad bar.
However more excitingly I have free tickets to see "The Who" at Wembley. One of our corporate sponsors has given us VIP tickets with a free bar and buffet. This is where my eating to 2 is going to be challenged. I am really excited about seeing the Who. I have seen them before and they are excellent. Plus when you work for a charity you don't get the VIP treatment very often. I have to remind myself that it is not about the free food. the words "Free" and "food" two of my favourite words together it is like 2 to the power of 2. So I have to rewrite this script. I am going to see the Who and the food is a nice bonus. I will eat it as a meal. After all I have my pact now and I want to see what my prizes will be. So the plan for Saturday a plate of veg (if available) and a plate of pieces no more than 8 pieces. No dessert. It will be my dinner. So eating to 2 important. 2 glasses of wine. I will cycle through water, soft drink, wine. I will choose a nice wine go for quality rather than quantity. I have emailled the organisers for the menu so I can decide in advance.5 -
@nstephenson01 - good job on the hike and I like your plan! Do you ever worry about bears? That's about the only thing keeping me away from a hiking vacation in Montana!!
Why, yes @carlsoda LOL I often worry about bears! Fortunately we have a very small population of grizzlies in the Bitterroot Valley and our little black bears don't want to encounter us anymore than I want to encounter them. But I do see them around so I put bells on my dogs' collars and carry bear spray. Making plenty of noise so as they're not surprised and have time to move along is the key.
@cyndiesstuff my plan for the potluck is to do another 8 mile hike in the morning, bring a healthy dish and stick to meat, fruit & veggies and drink water between glasses of wine. I have a yoga class Friday morning that I want to feel good for so I'll keep that in mind so I don't overindulge. Its just one day!
Nice loss @Barbb1557! Great start to the month! I'm don't know what skull crushers are but wow, that sounds pretty darn good!!
Good plan for the concert @amsandos and whoohoo you get to see The Who and at Wembley no less! I bet they put on quite a concert!

Yesterday was a great day for sport, but today I got carried away washing clothes and organizing the kitchen cupboard, with foods and spices. Now I feel a little hungry, and I happen to be too much under calories for the day, so I'm considering a little late night snack :-)3 -
Hallelujah I’m on vacation until the 14th! 😁5

feels like saturday. i left work yesterday at 2 and now i don't go back till monday. when i got home yesterday i was exhausted so i took a nap. we are headed to my folks this morning to mow grass and my mom needs her finger nails clipped. her and dad's hands shake to bad to trim nails. other than that no a whole lot going on as of right now. we will see what the day brings.
@Barbb1557 ohhh yeah! nice loss. but i just looked at the spreadsheet and it says your starting weight was 256? i need some clarification. and you are lucky to have a trainer. i wish i could afford one and had the time. and your right activity is very important to do daily. just let me know what the correct starting weight and current weight is please!
@gottagetthisdown i like your new water goal. you can do this. and are you experimenting with dairy free?
@amsandos that is good. i was ready to pack my bags and come over there and knock them out of your hands!! and it is ok to be hungry sometimes. it will not kill you or get you pregnant. what do you say to yourself when you get hungry? make a conscious effort to make your words positive. and i would have a problem with pizza. the salad bar is a good option. and i am jealous. you get to see the who. 2 and 2 girl. you got this. remember it is about the music and the people, not the food!!
@nstephenson01 i love your plan for the potluck. good job taking care of yourself. and guess how many calories you burn running from a bear!! lol. you be careful out there.
@Moarrein you have had a great couple of days. right on track. is the no late night snacking getting easier? that takes practice.
@Mrsbell8well wow what a nice vacation. what are you doing? going anywhere fun?
@lennoncpa you have an amazing holiday as well. do you work tomorrow?

It’s important to have enough variety in your diet so you don’t get bored of the food you’re eating (which may cause you to want to rebel). Making a commitment to trying at least one new recipe will help ensure you’re not always eating the same things.

@phoebe112476 ahhh sweet thank you. Thanks everyone for all the congrats and kind words. Scale is back under the bed.
This morning there are 8 of us doing the 4th of July run in town. Pretty exciting. Even Molly is doing it. She will be walking with 2 of the kids.
For vacation we are chiilin today after the race. Cleaning and organizing for a few days, decorating the last kids bedroom, hiking on Sunday to celebrate my daughters birthday, Thursday getting a message and Friday taking the old folks to Virginia Beach for 3 days. Very excited.
Bosses visit went really well.
Last night mom had trouble breathing. Thought we were going back to hospital but I think she stabilized. I told her we are going on vacation so she can’t die. Hopefully she will be better today.
I’m back to doing daily yoga. It’s hard but I’m loving it.
Last night we had pizza and BEER. I don’t think I’m as fond of alcohol as I used to be. The first sip was nice. 2 more sips and I was done. I gave Molly the rest.
Have a nice 4th everyone!!!3 -

Happy 4th of July! Off now until Monday (yay!)!
Yesterday we had kids and grandkids over and have an amazing Whole30 dinner! Daughter 1 brought veggies and daughter 2 brought fruit and I provided ground beef from the 1/8 of a beef we just bought. Roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots in the oven, cooked the ground beef and added it to the roasted potatoes and had cantaloupe blueberries and grapes for dessert. Kids devoured their food and loved every single bite. Hubs and I were talking this morning how the thought of having a dessert (ie pie) didn’t even come into our minds yesterday. Who needs a sugary treat when you have fruit. Yesterday was a success! And the grandkids, 5, 3 and 1 all love fizzy water so much!
Today even if it’s a little hot and humid we are going hiking! Got our state park picked out and will try to get in 5+ miles today! We will bring lots of drinks and healthy food! Tomorrow is a rainy day so maybe hit some antique shops and we will hike another day this weekend.
Hope everyone has a great day!5 -
My best time yet.
33:27 10:45 minute mile. Down from 12 minute.
Now pool party!8 -
I missed 3rd place by seconds4
