Wow, busy day moving... I've never been to Niagra, would love to... fwiw, Grand Canyon is worth a visit. Surprised it took my breath away...
And, i agree, what's done is done, just ought to do best we can.
I'm focused on improving strength & stamina, and particularly would like to reclaim the ability to open lids off jars2 -
bang bang bang... pop?1

Use a pointed-tip or rounded bottle opener to apply pressure to the lid and break the vacuum seal.

So Sunday after Bird Kingdom (which was super cool) it was raining so we drove by the falls, then grabbed some lunch and played indoor mini golf before coming on back. My 20yo had to take an online test, so we dropped her back by the house, then chilled at the hotel for a bit. Then we picked her back up, dropped my husband at the airport, then met up with her boyfriend's parents for dinner. That was fun and last about 2 hours, then she rode with said boyfriend back to he house an dmy youngest and I headed bakc to the hotel to watch the Oilers eliminate the Stars. We want the cup!!!
Today was busy again. We picked 20yo up in the morning, then we hit multiple stores to get things she still needed, then grabbed breakfast for lunch, then the warehouse store and back to the house. We did some cleaning and etc, then headed to the grocery store for the first big stock up run. Later we had to run back to a store to do an exchange ugh, then we grabbed a quick dinner and went back to the house for more hanging out and cleaning. We finally seperated about 12hrs after first collecting her and now we're chilling in the hotel, preparing for our long *kitten* drive tomorrow.
I am exhausted, lol.3 -
You sure you're keeping track of what happened? 🤣 Seems like a blur Oiler girl!
Yooly why are you taking the bang bang bang out of my pop? Next thing you know you might even use a flat knife or even the tine of a fork, by why bother .... oh yeah.... make sure you don't bang on something that dents or breaks😜🤣
Can opener.... who would have thunk that! So.... Normal !😘
I mean an adjustable wrench could be used as a banger! I tend to use the edge of the metal stove!!!!🤣2 -

I’ve learned the bottle opener trick the hard way. Banging a jar of pickles on the kitchen counter. Glass, pickles and juice all over me! Luckily no cuts or bruises.2 -
I didn't learn from my sink explosion experience! 🤣2

Bang bang, lol... get that. Now i just randomly drop stuff or send it flying backwards...3

I think work is gonna kill me. Just got to get through the rest of this week and next week. Then things can get back to normal.
I have been ordering in way too much of late. Especially around lunch. I just have so much to do that it's easier and faster so I can get just a little more work done. So that goal is still not quite where I want it.
Drinking more water has been going well though. Not 100% where I want to be, but a lot better then I was.
I also added 2 new goals, but both are non food/diet related. One is to keep up with my skin care routines both morning and at night. The second is to make my bed every morning.3 -
It's hard, Athijade. But. Consider this. Any day, without heartache, our employers can let us go. For nor real reason. The only thing we can be certain of for the rest of our lives is ourselves. Our body. Our mind.4

I've been known to walk out on the street -- with a stuck jar, with something I needed to cut and a pair of scissors, with the dog's flea treatment when I couldn't twist the top to open up the tube -- looking for muscle or someone with two fully functioning hands
My crazy *kitten* neighbour doesn't call me a legend of Steven Street for no reason3 -
They should make flea treatments easier to access you legend you!1
-
That was post shoulder surgery when I wasn't allowed to use that hand at all for two weeks. Most things I would use my mouth and left hand to maneuver - but not flea treatment so I took it on a walk with us until I found another dog owner to ask.
I'm sure people around here have been asked much stranger things!
My neighbour had a really tough bottle of pickles - she is 70 me 60 with lots of bottle opening experience but we couldn't get that baby undone. So we took it with us when we walked down to Canadian Tire and asked a buff young man if he would give it a try; I think he was tickled. And succesful Adds a bit of fun to the day!2 -
you COULD, in desperation, try Yooly's trick? (low danger)
Or hot and cold water! (ALERT: glass pickup in aisle #1 might be a side effect!!!)1 -
For the past five weeks, it’s just been craziness. Travel, houseguests and then some home repairs requiring workers in the house. I just want my boring routine life back.
I’m hoping next week will be the start of a less stressful time because anxiety makes me eat the plaster off the walls! Surprisingly my weight is stable and down about four pounds. Fret more, eat junk, lose weight??? 🤔3 -
Hang in @Athijade2
-
sure why not @ Yooly. I mean... it's the total calories that count any which way! (mind you good total calories with good food choices is even BETTER!)2

Happy to read about your loss, Yooly! COngratulations
I've been having that kind of year too. I'm hoping it will settle in September1 -
Visit to the dentist today. Had a suspicious spot drilled and filled. The two shots of Novocain were the worst of it, leaving me with a sore mouth. So soft foods today.2

My follow-up today and dietician appt were good. My weight loss is on track still, and my InBody scan, taken with a grain of salt of course, was very positive. Of my 50+ lbs weight loss since my last scan about 4 months ago, the vast majority was fat and not lean body mass. This conincides, unsurprisingly, with my advent into weight training in a gym.
From now on I see the dietician monthly, to track my weight loss, muscle retention and make sure I stay on track. I ideally I will lose another 50lbs or so by my 1 year follow-up. If I actually do so, I will be the lightest weight of my "adult" life, since I haven't been under 208 since I got pregnant the first time shortly before I turned 20. That was a literal lifetime ago, as that child will be 24 in 4 weeks, lol.
I am taking today as a total rest day. Not fussing with my steps, skipping the gym even though I normally always go on days I don't work, etc. Just means tomorrow I will have to do both legs and back/biceps(pull).5 -
Congratulations Nic!!1

Nice job Nic!! How inspiring!
Life is starting to get back to normal work wise. Hopefully that means I will have more energy and attention for my goals! So a goal update:
1) Drink more water - Doing okay with this one. Some days are better then others.
2) Eat at home - Much better with this! I did order in lunch yesterday due to the way my meetings fell. I will be eating out this weekend because a friend of mine is coming up to see Six the Musical and got a hotel downtown Friday-Sunday. So I will be staying with her.
3) Make my bed - I would say I have this down. I did forget one day this past weekend, but other then that I have been good.
4) Keep up with my skincare routine - Also have this down. I don't think I have missed a morning or evening routine since I started this goal.
And now added...
5) Do a single small chore every day. Just started it this Monday. Monday I cleaned the bathroom mirrors and sink. Tuesday I cleaned the toilet. Today will likely be the stove top and counters in the kitchen. Tomorrow I plan to dust. Friday will be sweeping.5 -
Congratulations Athijade- looks like some wonderful progress in making new habits!3
-
I am thinking next week will be a good start for starting to try and log again. I don't have any big plans between now and September (Disney) that could throw a wrench in to things. I would start now, but I didn't plan for it and am kinda just surviving this week.2
-
Today is as good as any other day…. I found super planning wasn’t needed. Tiptoe around the foods you have on hand. Cut back a little here and there, make some low cal substitutions. Slow minor changes rather than a complete overhaul.3
-
Good advice from our Yooly as expected!
So here's a funny. Which may also say something about hamsters... or not.
I read Jade's post and said to myself: good on you Jade. Then Yooly's post. I go... yeah. You're right. No need to wait: Just start logging. I suppose you can tiptoe around things you've already cooked and it's too late to measure. And then I crashed and couldn't figure out why the heck you would make low cal substitutions for your logging?!!!!
And then I realized that Yooly automatically translated logging into cutting back on Calories.
Whereas I figured Jade was just talking about the act of recording the calories regardless of their amounts!!!!
And there you have it.
Different hamsters!
But yes, I think that recording is independently useful regardless of whether you're successfully or uncuccessfully managing intake.1 -
I had to work tonight but it was game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals and my team was looking to keep climbing out of the 3 games to none hole they had dug before winning game 4 in an 8-1 blowout.
So I dug out a t-shirt to wear under my too large scrub top:
They won 5-3, on the road and now we have a series, down 3 games to 2 and a home game Friday.
P. S. That's a regular XL t-shirt.

Oh... you're hoping for a game 7 are you.... ?0
