They parked away from the crater so a total of 50 miles. With all of the categorized climbs it took about 4 hours for him to complete. If you want to cycle just around the rim it is 33 miles and still some really hard climbs.2 -

@anconda: What a great accomplishment for your son and what a spectacular view.
@kar: Congratulations! Sometimes unexpected surprises like this, when you least anticipate them are the best!
@vhuber: Every time I type a long message and it is lost, I figure I was not suppose to post it.
@Dean: We will always be here for you. I love my vets above my own human physicians. They get it....our pets are our family. They are not just a $175 rescue that lacks pedigree or a show animal....they are loved. My dogs are better than many humans. You make a difference every day. Some days are not so good, but there are always those good days. Hold on to those days, knowing you did amazing miracles.
Sept. 14-18: 35 miles...ugh! Falling way off on my miles. Walking 25 miles and cycling 10 miles
TTD: 175 miles
My dad went into skilled nursing last Saturday. He cannot walk, he has lost lots of muscle strength and came to get his strength back. While here he was abused by the same two night shift aids on day one, two and four The third time, they tore open his left arm, denied they did it. He called me for help at 12 Midnight, exactly two minutes after I had put my head on the pillow. I came back to find one huge skin tear on his left upper arm and bruising on the other upper arm. I called the police and the EMT’s to examine him and file reports. I am on night three, sleeping in his room so he feels safe. It has been a nightmare. Now I feel like Dean doing long shifts....34 hours with no sleep was brutal. Too old to be pulling all nighters.2 -

Adding 21 miles for 206 out of 300.
Adding 20 miles for 226 out of 300.0 -
@Clepant - I can't even begin to imagine what that must be like. You put your family in a facility with the assumption they do the job because they want to help people but then this happens. With his inability to protect himself, I can see why he is afraid to be there alone. It's hard enough for old men when they can't do what they used to be capable of. It's even worse when they can't defend themselves. Their independence is completely gone at that point. You are an amazing daughter to be there for him. You have my sympathy. I hope things get better soon.2

*** @clepant ... Just keep your eyes open... My mom was in three different homes until we found the right one... We went through very similar ocurences just as you... We finally found a perfect home where mom was treated with respect and was given loving care ....1 -

@clemant, I agree with just ceci "I too sometime hate people" & agree they are in the wrong line of employment. I will pray for "you" & your papa. Life is hard enough without being manhandled by your care givers. You just keep earning those jewels lady!!
I did walk (through mud) today & will post miles tomorrow.0 -
