Thanks @sleepymom5 @Mrsbell8well I’m feeling really good!
@ljdanny I’m so sorry that your son went through that on top of all the other things he’s going through! Keeping him in my prayers!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@Cafelelia take your time, we all get busy! That woman is so inspirational!
I did really well today, I’m feeling good! I’ve made it though Saturday staying on track. I even went out to eat with my in laws. I had salad, I ordered fish with the vegetables and had one glass of wine. I’ve walked almost 18,000 steps.
Ready for another successful day tomorrow! I would love for the scale to be the same or a little lower on Monday morning.
Have a great evening!🤗😊3 -
@sleepymom5 I love your post “create healthy habits not restrictions “. I stumbled upon a blogger last night that loves food like we do but constantly had to fight the weight and work out like crazy to keep off the weight. She started exploring why diets don’t work. It’s things I’ve read before. With 2 pounds to go I’m thinking about what I need to do different to keep this off for good. It seems like skipping meals and being hungry isn’t the ultimate answer.
Living a “normal” life would be having a small glass of wine occasionally, a piece of chocolate after dinner. Seconds on pozole because I’m still hungry and it tastes so good. I never eat fast food. I always eat lots of fresh organic fruits and veggies, I rarely binge or eat till I’m miserable...yet the scale started creeping back up. I exercise faithfully so that’s not the answer. I don’t know the answer yet but I’m searching.
One year I was so sick of diets and restrictions. And full of self love. I put away the scale. I was determined to stop the craziness and love my body and my life with full acceptance. Each month my clothes got tighter. In 1 year I went from size 14 to 3X. My health was terrible. I gagged on certain foods and was miserable and scared to eat. At the end of that year I weighed my highest ever at 202.8. If I could have waved a magic wand and stayed that weight forever I would have been thrilled. But I knew with a certainty that I would one day see 300 on that scale. I admitted defeat. I would have destroyed my health even more. That’s when I joined MFP. With lower backaches, headaches, constant gagging and vomiting issues with meals I had to do something. “Dieting” has changed my life. I skipped dinner the last 3 days. I don’t like that. I know there has to be a better way to live. I am fiercely protective of those lost pounds, my exuberant glowing health, slender toned body, cute little clothes...I won’t give those up. I don’t want to feel like I’m at war with this battle. I want to find peace and harmony. After I hit goal this last July I did pretty well on maintenance. I stayed within 3 pounds of goal without too much effort. But October was super challenging with health issues. I blinked and was almost 8 pounds above goal. That’s why I recommitted, started a star chart again and live with restrictive eating. It’s not forever. Just having faith that i am doing the right thing. I will get back to goal then re-examine what I need to do to live a more sustainable balance

Congratulations to our biggest losers this week!
@kirsten11872 Was our 1st place winner AND 2nd place for pounds lost and 3rd place for percentage lost FOR THE ENTIRE CHALLENGE!! WTG Kirsten! You certainly earned this!!
@jedaschultz was tied with me for 2nd place for our team! Awesome job!!
@amytriesww was in 3rd for our team! Great job Amy!!
Got a long day ahead of me so just checking in quick. I will try to check in a little during the day. Had a different breakfast today. Oatmeal and I put some fruit on it too. Very good. It was pretty quick to make too. It looks a little weird but I was sitting by the fire when I took this picture, that is why I am holding it up. It was either that or my lap lol! Hope everyone has a great day!
@kirsten11872 I love your focus and determination! You are doing awesome!
@Mrsbell8well That is what I am doing this time. I have been on every diet and did lose the weight but gained it back because it was a lifestyle I wasn't willing to continue. That is why I am making small changes that I am willing to keep and doing some work on the thinking around my eating. I would love to lose it quickly but I am hoping the tradeoff for going slow is going to be keeping it off. You lost, researched, tweeked and lost again, did more research and tweeked some more. I have no doubt that you are are going to research and figure out what works for you in maintenance. You look fantastic and are going to stay that way this time
@cyndiestuff I am glad you are having a great weekend! Enjoy today

good morning! Today is my 365th consecutive day of checking in to MFP! A full year! I’ve never stuck to anything for a full year lol! And I probably wouldn’t have if it weren’t for this group - Thank you to everyone for sharing your goals, challenges, tips, support & motivation, it really helps to know so many of us are on similar journeys!
I’m off to Mexico in a few hours, unplugging and taking a much needed break from work and everything else! I will miss my next weigh-in on Sunday, but I’ll be home Monday night, so I’ll weigh-in then!
hope everyone has a great week!

Daily Check In: Saturday
Food: Pre-logged, ate on plan
Water: Good
Exercise & Steps: 45 minute dog walk; 13,723 steps
Good day yesterday staying on plan. Feels good to be on track. We made a stuffed acorn squash recipe for dinner last night that my husband found on Pinterest. It was really good but the acorn squash wasn't sweet. I thought they're supposed to be sweet... similar to sweet potatoes. Maybe there are different varieties. Slept well last night for the first time in awhile. Day time food is pre-logged but need to figure out dinner before I start snacking off plan. Thinking a big salad but need to figure out something for hubby. Morning workout on the Bowflex is done and headed out for a walk with the dogs before it starts raining. On my 4th glass of water.
Hope everyone has a great day hitting those goals!
@twyla77 have a great time in Mexico. One of my favorite places to vacation!
@Mrsbell8well I'm confident you will figure this out. I woke up this morning rethinking my congrats to you for essentially being miserable the other night. This journey shouldn't be about misery... its about sustainability. You have come so far physically and mentally.
@sleepymom5 I love the "create healthy habits..." Thanks for posting it. I need to keep that in mind.3 -
@twyla77 Nice loss! Enjoy Mexico! I took a screen shot of that. I am going to use that as a reminder on my phone for the next two weeks!
@nstephenson01 Looks like you are stringing together a few good days! Great job! Acorn squash isn't really sweet. My mom used to put brown sugar on it. Did you like the recipe? I am looking for one if you don't mind sharing. Hope the rest of your day goes as well as it started.3 -

My daughter and I just ran 5 miles with hills. It was one of my best longest runs in ages. It was fairly easy for me and fun. I think the cold weather makes a big difference. So much better than the heat. Off to do yoga.4

Saturday check in
Food - Logged & under
Exercise - rest day
Water - 2l
I started some prep early yesterday evening and finished today. I use a grocery delivery service when I am jammed and did so today (I discovered it when my injury was very bad). It is normally $10 extra for delivery, but got it free on promotion. It felt so great not having to venture out in the cold and haul all of those bags in the house. The boys have hockey almost every night this week, so I am glad to be done the cooking & prep. Honestly, there is more to our life than hockey, but it is that time of year where it tends to take over the schedule.
Congratulations to @kirsten11872 for coming in 2nd for lbs lost & 3rd for % lost! You are slaying it!! Congralations to @kirsten11872, @jedaschultz, @sleepymom5 and @amytriesww for coming in 1st, 2nd & 3rd on our team this week! You are all amazing! Congratulations to all of us for choosing this healthy path!!
@CassieGetsFit2013 - That a nice loss and I hope that you are feeling well! I also hope that your grandfather is doing better too.
@nstephenson01- Great that you are back on track! I find that prelogging really helps formulate a plan & sticking to it.
@twyla77 - Happy one year checking in on MFP! Also, great loss! Have a great time in Mexico and enjoy that warm weather!
@sleepymom5 - You are doing great! That oatmeal looks delicious, and by the fire makes it even better!
@cyndiesstuff - Great day and congrats on sticking to plan! You are doing great!
@kirsten11872 - Great day and amazing number of steps! You are just on fire with your dedication and motivation! It’s inspiring to read!
@ljdanny - I am so sorry about the experience your son had. I do believe that certain years turn out to be tough ones, but we also have good years too. I really hope too that 2020 is his year (and yours too)!
@Mrsbell8well - I agree that diets do not work, and that being miserable, hungry and/or struggling is no way to live. I also think that maintenance has the potential to be tougher than weight loss. I have lost this weight 3 times, but have failed at maintenance every time. All 3 times, I think that I “dieted” my way to a unsustainable outcome. One of the times was with a well known nutritionist who pretty much had me starving on salads for 6 months. That was never going to work in the long term. This time, nothing is off limits (2 dark chocolate squares are on my plan almost daily) and I am focusing on health & well being, which means not just my nutrition, but managing my stress and making sure I sleep enough. It is a much slower process this time, but my real goal, aside from a number on the scale, is living a healthy & happy life in a way that is sustainable for me. You will find your balance, and you are going through that trial and error process. Be patient with yourself, read, research, be creative, rest, try new things, whatever you think will help you. You have come so far and you will find your way in maintenance, just as you did with weight loss!5 -
Ate less than ideal but I actually got out and walk / jogged a little today, which I consider a big win.6

My Grandfather is discouraged and feeling worried, (Think I get all my overworrying from him!) But they want to move him into a nursing home for now while he is weak and he can work on building up his strength in there and it will be just down the street from me so I should be able to visit him often! Don't wanna keep making excuses not to see him! I think he's really afraid and worried to go there cause he feels like he is going to get stuck there, pr put into another nursing home, but my Grandma said she won't let that happen.5

@sleepymom5
Yes, I'm glad I didn't go back for a 3rd slice of pizza. I had planned on getting one slice but was pretty hungry so I got two. I will be happy to see the extra on the paycheck.
No, I didn't have to work last night. I was so tired I went to bed by 7:30 but then woke up around 3:30 since I had to use the bathroom. Then couldn't get back to sleep but by then I'd already had 8 hours of sleep.2 -
Sunday 11/17 check in
Food: logged and on track
Water: 72 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes low intensity at home
I had a pretty good day today. Exercise this morning went well. I read my book club book. I'm now up to page 240 on my 500 page book. I don't think I"ll be able to finish it before Tuesday night, that's a lot of pages to read yet. Slept for several hours this afternoon so I can stay awake for work tonight.
West Michigan weather is interesting. Last week it was cold and snowy. Today it was 37 degrees and sunny and by Thursday it's supposed to be 49 degrees.

sleepymom5 wrote: »@tryingagain5 Still trying even though you didn't meet your goal. That is good. It's probably better then it would be if you weren't focusing on it. I am doing good with veggies, mostly because I have been having a big salad at night. I am not good at all with fruit. The more I hear you with the chiropractor, the more I am thinking I may need to see one. I hope the night passes quickly for you.
Yes, I'm still trying and you're right, even though I didn't meet my goal, it's still better to keep working on it. I'm still better with fruits than veggies but working on it.
The chiropractor seems to be helping with my issue but you do need to find one who is the right fit and won't want you to sign up for a really long term plan that costs a lot of money.

Happy Saturday everyone. Well I had a total nut binge yesterday. After eating my three meals I was craving nuts and gave in😤. So got a can of unsalted mixed nuts from Rite Aid and ate them all. So it’s like 170 calories a serving and the can has 9 servings!! That’s on top of my normal meals for the day so I had like twice the number of calories I should have eaten in one day. Omg I’m so frustrated with myself!!!
Don't beat yourself up over it. It just makes it worse, at least for me it does. I"ll feel bad I did that and think, "why bother" and eat more and the cycle continues.
Dust yourself off and get right back up. Possibly next time you get a craving buy a single serving of that item , that way you can still fit it in and not go over.
You can do it!1 -
On Friday night when the boss got pizza for us, a coworker asked me if I was "going off my diet" I laughed and told her I eat what I want as long as it fits in my calories for the day.
I also told her diets don't work, you go on a diet and then off a diet. I told her what I'm doing with a calorie limit I can do for life and fit in any food I'd like to have. She's tall and thin and probably doesn't understand.4 -
Hopefully the picture attaches correctly.
These two pictures were taken approximately a year apart. I weigh almost 1/2 pound more in the current picture (on the left) but I think I look a little smaller. Other people have said so also.

Sunday 11/17 check in
Food: logged and under
Water: over 64
Exercise: 30 minutes stationary bike, stretching, strength and PT
Steps:over 6,000
Checking in tonight because I have to be out early tomorrow. A friend of mine, another nurse, is taking my 95 yo mother in law to the wedding on Saturday. She did it for my daughter's wedding too. We just want to go and reintroduce her to my Mother in law and make sure everything is set for Saturday. I can't believe there is less than a week until the wedding. I also have to walk Charlie, I am continuing to clean plus have PT tomorrow at 5. Tuesday I have to go try on my dress. I am more than 5 pounds less than when I tried it on. Not a big difference but maybe enough to make the zipper smooth out. I still can't believe it is Saturday.... Oh well...as far as today goes...Another good day! I did great with water but lost count, stuck to my plan and got my exercises in. I need to also get to the store tomorrow. I need to get some healthy stuff in. I am good for breakfast and lunch but don't want to start ordering out because I am busy. Ok, signing off...I am pooped if you couldn't tell from my writing Lol! Hope everyone has a good night!
@CassieGetsFit2013 Nice loss! The scale is going in the right direction! I am glad your grandfather is going to be closer to you so you can visit him. It sounds like it is a good idea for him to go to the nursing home to build strength. It sounds like it is just for rehab.
@Mrsbell8well It is so nice that your daughter and you run together. I bet this is probably the nicest time of the year to run outside!
@Cafelelia It helps to be super organized like you seem to be when the boys schedules are so busy. You set yourself up for another successful week!
@GingerPwr Nice job getting out for a walk/jog. I am sure down by you the weather is still nice. Does it get too cold down there to walk/jog outside?
@tryingagain5 Wow! You can really see a difference. Your shirt looks so much looser! How much weight have you lost?
@amytriesww Another awesome loss! You are doing great Amy!4 -

Food - at goal
Water- 50 oz
Exercise - 15 minute walk
Steps- 5541 steps
I got all my work done yesterday. Menu is created, food is bought and prepped. Gonna be a good eating week. No excuses. I even drank my water this weekend!! wooo whoooo. Now it wasn't a perfect weekend but it is way better than what it has been. progress not perfection. I have also started drinking herbal tea. when I get snacky I have tea instead. it takes at least a half hour to drink and then by time I am done. the urge has usually subsided.
I choose to believe on purpose today. I am going to eat healthy this week. I will drink my water and I will exercise. and if I get the munchies and you know I will, I will have tea and journal about it instead of giving in. Time to rebuild that resistance muscle.
@CassieGetsFit2013 nice loss cassie. keep working it. never give up!!
@GingerPwr way to go girl! now make that plan for today and get moving!!
@amytriesww ohhhhh yea and the scale goes down.
@jedaschultz another loss what a great job you are doing!!

Sunday check in
Food - logged & on target
Exercise - rest day, but lots of running around
Water - 1.8 l
Yesterday was a good day and got all of my cooking & prep done. My Apple Watch is giving me more data now that I have had it about a month. My average steps for the week last week as at 8,500, which is such an improvement from peak injury. I have my gait analysis on Wednesday and will see what the verdict is. I have been missing running lately, but my exercise alternatives are not so bad, and I have learned to appreciate them.
@cyndiesstuff - Yes, that’s how you do it! You have your prep done and a plan for the week! You’ve got this!
@jedaschultz - Nice loss, congratulations!
@amytriesww - Another excellent loss! You are 10 lbs from onederland! Omg! Congratulations!
@tryingagain5 - I notice a big difference in the photos as well! Your shirt looks so much looser, and you look thinner. Thanks for sharing the photos! I love seeing the progress! A 40 lbs loss is a huge accomplishment, congratulations!
@CassieGetsFit2013 - I am sorry that your grandfather is not doing better and some rehab in the nursing home may do him some good. My FIL was in a similar situation, and he spent 2 months in rehab in a nursing facility and was able to go home with a better quality of life, even with his restricted mobility. Hope that you see him soon! My FIL says that when our kids (his grandkids) come to visit, it lifts his spirits not only on the day of, but for weeks afterward too. We see him next at Christmas, and the boys will insist on bringing him outside in his wheelchair to play with them (they made him catch a frisbee last time, which was quite something for him).
@sleepymom5 - Great day yesterday and you are being so consistent! I cannot believe that the wedding is on Saturday! Your dress is going to fit amazing and you will look beautiful! I can take over the reminders & weight recording from here!
@GingerPwr - Glad that you got that exercise in! Great job!
@Mrsbell8well - Nice run! I love cold weather running too! It is my favorite time fo year to run.

Hello & Happy Monday! Hope you had a good weekend! It is a chilly, rainy day here, but its supposed to be sunny tomorrow.
My weekend went well, I stayed on track all weekend. I ate well & worked out both days. I was busy all day yesterday, I woke up, sorted & started my laundry, went to the gym, stopped at a few stores to pick up a few things I needed to make the arroz con pollo & beans, I cooked for 3 hours, did laundry in between cooking, my in laws came over, we ate, I cleaned up the dishes & kitchen, took a shower, folded the clean laundry and finally collapsed in bed, lol. It was non-stop all day into the evening. The good thing is that with all that running around and my hour on the elliptical, I did 27,740 steps!
My goal was to stay on track all weekend and not have a gain this morning. I did stay on track all weekend, but the scale was up .6 this morning. I feel like that is pretty much staying the same, it is a small fluctuation, so I am happy. It is better than being up 2-4 pounds and having to work extra hard to get them off plus have a loss by Saturday.
I am feeling motivated to stay on plan! Thanks for all your support! I'm continuing with 16:8 IF, WW & tracking on MFP plus get workouts done 5-7 days. Friday is my sister in laws birthday, so I probably won't be able to workout since we are going out to dinner, but I will be good the other days.
@cafelelia thanks! I am trying to get these pounds off!
@GingerPwr every little thing we do in the right direction helps!
@CassieGetsFit2013 keeping your grandfather in my prayers! Hopefully he won't be in there too long! At least you are close by to see him!
@tryingagain5 never give up! It is definitely a lifestyle, no fad diets work long-term. You can definitely see a difference in the pictures.
@cyndiesstuff good job over the weekend! I drink tea as well to help with the hunger. There are so many types & flavors, I try to buy different ones I think I will like.
@amytriesww nice loss! Based on your user name, do you follow WW as well? I am Lifetime.
@sleepymom5 good luck with the wedding dress fitting! 5 pounds should make a difference, you'd be surprised. Enjoy the wedding, please post pics!
@jedaschultz nice loss!
Have a great day & week!2 -
Had a really wonderful weekend. Our holiday celebrations have begun. Just ate a tasty sandwich with really fresh sourdough bread from my favorite little café. But now I am in need of a nap. Great job this weekend everyone!
thanks for all the support as always. I appreciate all the comments and insight.4
