Friday check in
Food - logged and on target
Water - 2l
Exercise - running around with 9 year olds all day
It was a busy day yesterday. I managed deal with the food part of it just fine and enjoyed having some birthday cake and a night out. The restaurant had healthy options which made it easy. I get 2 days off of hockey and then it is every evening next week and a tournament on the weekend. My prep tomorrow is really going to be critical and I may get started tonight if I can.
@kirsten11872 - Don’t let this discourage you and I love your determination! You did have a great week and the number on the scale is just one metric. There are so many reasons for a gain and you have hit on some of them. It could be that you are building more muscle too. Maybe look at other things like how your clothes are fitting, measurements, how you feel in general. I know first hand that a gain like this can defeat motivation, but don’t give up! The numbers will catch up (and go down) with your amazing efforts!
@Zumba_Luvah - You are doing great, congratulations! You have approached this in such a great way, being persistent and changing up your strategies as needed. You have been persistent and changed up your strategies as needed. It was not that long ago that you were at 199 and look how far you have come!
@Mrsbell8well - The mental side to this journey is key and you are doing great! You have come so far, so 2 lbs will not defeat you! My goal weight is 135 lbs. I am 5’3” and small boned, so it is a reasonable weight, and one that feels good on me. My clothing sizes have started to change, and based on past experience, the sizes go down quickly for me in the 140’s & 130’s. I have only clothes that fit me for casual clothes, so I need to buy some transitional pieces to get through the holidays. I kept a few different sizes in my business attire, as that part of my wardrobe is more costly. I will go through it in the new year and determine what I can keep and what I can donate.
@cyndiesstuff - Even though it was a seizure, it is good that the doctors determined what happened to Josh, so that can start to understand what is going on and how to treat him. Just amazing that you have taken care of yourself through all of this! You are in inspiration!
@sleepymom5 - You got in a workout on wedding day?! Way to go! Congratulations and hope that you have a wonderful day! After it is over, we would love to see you again in that beautiful dress!
@hope002 - Great day! I read in some of my fasting research that saunas and hot yoga have the same effect on a person as an intense workout. There is something in the heat that triggers this and scientists are studying it. So even if your steps were a bit low, your hot yoga likely gave you a huge boost!
@amytriesww - Omg, I am so sorry that you had that scary reaction to the testing. I hope that you are feeling better, and yes, take it easy and rest. Sending you a big hug!
@pacsnc6 - Way to stick with the water aerobics and enjoying the one cookie! It is time for Christmas cookies! I have to get on that after this intense hockey week. Can you give us the recipe for the Chocolate molasses cookies? I love baking with molasses.
@tryingagain5 - Congratulations on meeting your goals in week 3! I love your weekly summaries! What you say about the negative self talk is so true! We would not talk to other people that way. I always think, there is no way I would talk to my children that way, or anybody else for that matter!
@lennoncpa - Given your recent issues with hunger, it is an achievement that you maintained this week! Those weekly steps are so impressive!

With Thanksgiving coming for our US team members, let us know what your plans are? Are you staying on plan, enjoying certain favorite dishes, taking a break, maintaining? Also, please feel free to share any of your healthy food and self care tips and tricks.
Here are a few infographics to get started:

@Cafelelia This is a recipe my mother in law gave me many years ago. She made these for Christmas every year so I have no idea how old the recipe is.
half cup brown sugar, half cup shortening, one cup molasses, quarter cup very hot (not boiling) water, quarter pound cocoa, one large egg, half teaspoon ground cloves, half teaspoon cinnamon, one teaspoon baking soda, three to four cups flour
Cream sugar and shortening, mix in molasses and hot water, mix in cocoa and then egg. Add dry ingredients gradually, mixture will be very thick - I usually end up kneading by hand. Refrigerate for one hour or longer. Then roll about half inch thick on flour covered surface and cut shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on greased pan at 375 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes.
The cookies rise while baking and taste almost like cake. If you roll them thinner adjust baking time or they'll burn - a mistake I have made a few times.
Let me know if you try them and Enjoy!1 -
@pacsnc6 ohhhh yummy recipe. I’m going to see if I can make a vegan version1

I will be going to my sister's on Thanksgiving. I will get to see both of my great nieces and of course, their parents. My oldest nephew and his wife live in California and they are also going to be there. The two of them don't have children. My middle nephew has one child and my youngest nephew has one child.
I have a pretty small family, other than my aunt, who lives in the Netherlands, and a family friend, who is more like family will all be there. Out of 15 people in my family, 13 will be there.
I plan on working out before going, not sure if it will be at the gym or at home. Also, I am planning to enjoy myself and not stress about food. I know I'm going to go over my calorie limit for the day but that's ok.7 -
@tryingagain5 thank you for the words of encouragement. They mean a lot!!
@cyndiesstuff How scary. Glad your son is doing better. You are becoming a master at staying on plan throughout diversity.
@Cafelelia The gait analysis sounds very interesting and a great tool. Thank you for taking time to share your thought process. So much of this is mental and I think that gets overlooked/pushed aside for that almighty number on the scale.
Ok gang I’m way behind on posts. My weight is back down to 165.8 this morning. Naturally I want it to continue in that direction. Some of you may remember that I went to California in May to visit a friend who was facing some health challenges. Unfortunately she developed complications last weekend and passed away. Its quite a shock and we’re heartbroken. The funeral is Wednesday. We leave Monday to drive to CA. I will be MIA for the week and unable to weigh in on Thursday @Cafelelia & @sleepymom5.
I’m a firm believer in the saying... when you have your health, you have it all. Take care everyone.

@nstephenson01
You're welcome! That's why we're here. To encourage each other. I'm glad I kind of stumbled onto this group. It's been helpful to me.
I asked my doctor once what he thought I should weigh. He refused to give me a number. His answer was basically the number on the scale doesn't matter. I want you to be healthy. He didn't want me fixating on a certain number and then doing unhealthy things just to get to that number.
So sorry about your friend.3 -
Saturday 11/23 check in
Food: logged and under
Water: 80 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes at the gym
I was too tired after work to go to the gym so I went home and slept for a while. Went and got groceries and was still tired but made myself go to the gym anyway. I got in a pretty good workout. Combination of weights and cardio. My heart rate monitor told me I burned 230 calories in 30 minutes.
I'm still pretty tired. Thinking about taking a nap or possibly just going to bed for the night.😴 Working Friday night(which is Saturday for 3rd shift) really messes up my sleep schedule. When I see the extra pay, I know it will be worth it.5 -
@Mrsbell8well .
Curious to know what you would substitute in the recipe. I don't do vegan but might try it for a change.0 -

My best NSV this year happened quite recently as in last week! I accomplished 150 Barre classes and had purchased these crazy 😜 leggings six months ago and never felt comfortable wearing let alone in class. I wore those leggings proud and felt confident in class and also had to stop at the grocery store!
Have a wonderful Sunday team!
Come share at the teams group thread and also your own team! 👏🤩👏5 -

Week 4 (?)
Previous weight: 210.0

@pacsnc6 I’m going to make them today. Miyokos makes a wonderful vegan butter and 1 tablespoon ground flax seed to 3 tablespoons of water, makes a good egg substitute. I will let you know how they come out.
We did farmers market and T-day grocery shopping yesterday. Also saw frozen 2 with family. We loved it. Nice day
I ate more carbs than usual yesterday but stayed at good portions. Molly made the best creamy wild rice garbanzo soup last night.
Today is food prep day for the week and beginning of Thanksgiving. Going to make pie crusts, pancakes for family this morning, chocolate molasses cookies, an apple tart, cranberry sauce and lots of veggie chopping.
Found some almond milk Baileys to splash into my nightly Hazelnut tea every now and then...I know there are lots of ways to celebrate Holidays but food and beverages seem so central don’t they? Balance.1 -

This time last year we took a family Thanksgiving picture and I hid behind my son so my belly wouldn't show.
By late December I joined this group resolved to change things.
I lost 20lbs in about 5 months!
Then my marriage hit a crisis, then my son left for basic, then I hit a depression in summer, and I've stalled out. I haven't made it below 145 on my home scale since May.
It's been about a year and though I'm lighter, I don't feel successful. I don't feel like I've been good to myself. I'm having trouble seeing the progress because I haven't had any in a while. I'm afraid that I'll go right back up over the holidays.
Right now, I feel powerless.10 -

the definition for fitness and it encompasses more than just exercise and workouts, but also body composition and nutrition and just being able to do things. So, given that, I like it. #1 of Fitness Warriors gets my vote.

Sunday check in
Food - On track, but did not log
Exercise - rest day
Water - 1.8 l
It has been such a busy weekend, I did not log, which is the first since August. I eat my usual and as planned, so that was good. It has been such a busy weekend, sorry for not checking in sooner.
@CassieGetsFit2013 - I know it is not a loss, but it is not really a gain either, so that’s good. How was your week? How are you doing these days?
@GingerPwr - First, just sending you a big hug right now. I am so sorry you feel this way and I hope that by sharing with us, that helped, even just a little. I get it and I have been there, especially this summer when I reinjured my leg and felt like I was in a hole. I think that many people feel similar this time of year. The holidays are coming and that is stressful enough. Then it is a time where many of us reflect over the past year and maybe we are not where we thought we would be with weight loss, fitness, looks, relationships and anything else in our lives. I am not walking in your shoes, so do not have all of the answers. To me, being 20 lbs down is a big success, but I understand that is not where you want to be. Maybe you can look at small ways to feel powerful again, small ways to take care of yourself, and small coping mechanisms for the holidays. For example, today I took 10 minutes to sit and have a cup fo tea, or today, I got to bed on time. You can keep a list or a brief journal as something tangible to prove to yourself that you have power and can be good to yourself. I am not a trained professional, but if you really feel that the depression is continuing, then it is time to look into getting professional help, or intensifying/changing the help that you have. For what it is worth, we think that you are a fantastic member of the team and I especially appreciate that you post with such clarity and honesty about your journey, especially the struggles. To me, that is powerful and successful.
@Mrsbell8well - Such a cute photo! Re stylish Santa, he kind of looks like David Letterman in retirement (with better clothes)!
@amytriesww - Another great loss! I hope that you are feeling better!
@tryinagain5 - That’s a great Thanksgiving plan and thanks for sharing. Great day in spite of being tired. Hope that you are catching up on sleep and getting some rest.
@nstephenson01 - I am so sorry about your friend. What a terrible shock. Please have a safe trip and obviously, no problem re skipping your weigh in. We are here for you any time and sending you a big hug.
@pacsnc6 - Thank you so much for sharing the recipe! I am going to give it a try for Christmas baking!

Those chocolate cookies recipe I posted were called chocolate jumbos by my mother in law. I don't know where the recipe originated - my guess would be a magazine. They freeze well so feel free to double the recipe - use three eggs - and thaw them as needed. I made the half recipe (three dozen) and put half in the freezer.
Congrats to the biggest losers for last week
@CassieGetsFit2013 that's not a gain to worry about. you're doing good.
@gingerpw sorry to hear you've had such a tough year, you should be proud of your son joining the service, you've maintained your weight for six months, and you didn't say but I hope you and your husband are doing better.
@Mrsbell8well looks like your dog is obeying the rule - he's sitting on laps NOT the couch ;-)

Hello and happy Sunday everyone. I started out my day with a Zumba class and an egg white omelette. Then I was motivated to get started on my Christmas trees and decorations. I do a tiny tree, a purple tree and then the larger tree for the gifts. I’m also Jewish and I collect Menorahs which are the candle holders for Hanukkah. When my boys were little it would be an ongoing contest to see if either of them could find a menorah for me at flea markets we went to. This is a menorah my younger son brought to me from a trip to Israel.

Sunday 11/24 check in
Food: logged, just a little over
Exercise: 30 minutes low intensity at home
Water: 56 oz
My day was pretty short since I slept 4 hours this afternoon. Trying to catch up on sleep.😴 I'm working a 10 hour shift to tonight. Since we're going to be off a couple days for Thanksgiving, they want us to get as much done between now and then and the overtime pay is always nice.2 -
@GingerPwr
Sorry about what you're going through, giving you a virtual hug. I don't have first hand experience with depression so I won't be able to give much advice on that, except to say, possibly talk with someone to work through it.
You may feel powerless but you are not. You say you're afraid of gaining over the holiday. Give yourself permission to not stress over weight loss during that time. Give yourself permission to enjoy the holiday without going too far overboard.
I also have trouble seeing my own progress. Others always have to point it out to me. Don't just look at the number on the scale. Look at how your clothes fit, are you stronger, can you do more with out getting out of breath, etc. Have others help you see the progress.
Don't quit, keep going no matter how hard it is. I've quit more times than I like to admit. I've lost and gained a lot of weight over the years. I"ll lose, then gain, then feel bad, eat more, then gain more and the cycle continues.
Keep coming here to post, vent, yell, scream, whatever you need to do to get through. We're all in this journey together and are here to support each other.3 -
@Cafelelia
Still short on sleep and will be the next few days too. I'm off from Wednesday morning through Sunday night. I plan on getting some extra sleep sometime during that time frame.0 -
Okay F2F team! We are in day 2 starting tmo Monday! Let’s support each other as we go into Thanksgiving! Awesome group! 💃💃🌟💃💃
My November Biggest excuse is that I am tired and I don’t want to cook! Excuse! I feel that and I eat unhealthy and it hinders my own NSV. I love to cook, usually! We all have our days.
My NSV with this excuse is to have healthy frozen meals in the fridge when this happens. 👏👍👏

Exercise: 30 minutes walk
Water: 32 oz
Josh was released from the hospital yesterday. It was a scary day for me. I have been super worried about this happening again. He is in high spirits. And said he feels fine. But he felt fine before. I have been on track and doing well. I have prepped for the week. I made a yummy chicken, veggie, and rice soup. and I have my meal plan for thanksgiving. I am drinking my water. It is starting to feel like habit. After thanksgiving this week, I am going to add a new habit to my life. Now sure what. I think that needs some thought and some journaling. I didn't do perfect this weekend but overall there has been a major improvement over the compulsive overeating. I am closer than what I was but still a work in progress.
How was the wedding Pam? @sleepymom59
