WEIGHT NO MORE - NOVEMBER CHAT

@gingerpwr I am so impressed that you have managed to maintain your 20 pound loss. That's fantastic! Most of us gain weight when we endure the kind of stress you have been going through. Your maintain is pretty remarkable. Timing is everything. Perhaps 2020 is your best year yet? Keep checking in. It is always encouraging when we hear from members that are willing to open up and express how they are feeling and what they are going through. I know you have had a hard year. continue to take 1 day at a time. You can do this. My sister used to get excited when things got really bad. She would say "oh great this is when things start getting better". It's like the rainbow after the storm. We look back at our lives and can see those up and down cycles. It's not "how do we get rid of the down" but more about how do we breathe and ride through the low points. Keep showing up.
I think of you every day when I am doing my yoga. I keep doing it cuz I know you were going to do the challenge too. Not sure if your still doing it but I wanted to keep with it just in case you are. Lol...well I am doing it for myself too but originally wanted to keep you company on it.
@lennoncpa that is such a gorgeous menorah.
@tryingagain5 hope your able to catch up on your sleep. I try to fiercely guard my sleep needs but I know it is not an easy task for many individuals. Hang in there. I am enjoying all your posts.
Congrats to all our team members for such successful weight loss and honors!
Yesterday I was dragging. I was disappointed that I didn't have my usual amount of stamina. I kind of went into slo-mo. But I also gave myself a certain amount of permission to take it easy. I have a busy week ahead of me and need to be ready. I did my carbo loading for Turkey Trot this weekend. Scaling back over the next few days. I ran 20 minutes yesterday and it felt a bit torturous. But I did it. I have been 100% on track with my daily yoga. Water has been good. Overall food has been good but more carbs bread items this weekend than I am used to.
I feel like curling up and doing a mini hibernating.
It's Monday...last week of November...have a great week everyone!

Okay F2F team! We are in day 2 starting tmo Monday! Let’s support each other as we go into Thanksgiving! Awesome group! 💃💃🌟💃💃
My November Biggest excuse is that I am tired and I don’t want to cook! Excuse! I feel that and I eat unhealthy and it hinders my own NSV. I love to cook, usually! We all have our days.
My NSV with this excuse is to have healthy frozen meals in the fridge when this happens. 👏👍👏
Come on over and share: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10773424/week-4-group-challenge-non-scale-victories-happy-thanksgiving#latestGood Morning ...Day 2 NSV..EXCUSESGeez where do I start..... Well I think the#1 excuse for me in Nov. was that my new prosthetic brace didn't fit right or it made my leg and foot ( what's left them) hurt or it made me too tried after wearing it all day. I made 3 trips to the Ortho medical tech and each time they address the issues that I had and yes it did feel better and yes it was going to make me tired because I was working muscles in my upper thigh that hadn't been worked in a lot of years. I complained to the PT therapists and they told me to suck it up and move forward and Yes i gave them a lot of lip service and said all the things and what thy wanted to hear.
I didn't realize all of this until I had an appt. with my PTSD and Nutrition Counselors last Friday. The light came on.. the realization if I don't do something quickly about this situation I am a dead man. 10 toes up tagged and bagged cause of death...STUPIDITY OF HEALTH, BAD EATING CHOICES, AND A OLDIE BUT A GOODIE BLAMING MY SITUATION STEMMING FROM FROM MY COMBAT INJURIES.
So the leg is what it is and now it's time to get off the EXCUSES TRAIN and press forward in December. A new battle plan has been laid out for me by the PTSD and Nutrition Counselors. Now I have already put into place and pressing on. Oh and the leg it not hinder me at all.

Sunday check in
Food - logged & on target
Water - 1.5l
Exercise - 7k steps
I did extra cooking and food prep yesterday as I am out 4 evenings this week for the hockey schedule. I got my flu shot this morning, and so far so good.
@Navydaddjtc - Thank you for sharing with us and thank you for your service. Of anyone, you have some very legitimate excuses and I love how your are moving forward in spite of them. I have a minor leg injury that has been going on for a year (nothing compared to yours), and that injury is often my excuse for moving less or not at all. I think that you just blew my excuse out of the water!
@mrsbell8well - In my experience, carb loading can have the effect your are experiencing. Just listen to you body and way to go with sticking it out to do your run!
@cyndiesstuff - I am so happy that Josh is out the hospital and doing ok. It is very natural to be worried. You are doing great in spite of all the things going on around you!
@Fitness327wk - I have often had that I am too tired excuse. Like you, I plan for meals to avoid this and Sunday is usually my big cooking and prep day.
@tryingagain5 - Another good day yesterday! So glad that you are getting a stretch of time where you can catch up on some sleep. It is well deserved!
@lennoncpa - That is a beautiful menorah and I love that your son brought it to you from Israel! How is it going with the hunger issues these days?0 -

Many of you may be in full Thanksgiving prep mode and then also thinking about the holidays after that. Here are a few items on stress management during the holidays.

Hello & Happy Monday & Thanksgiving week! Very happy it is a short work week, unfortunately, I have to work on Friday.
So my weigh-in did not go well on Saturday! I weighed in at home, I did not go to my WW meeting, we got home very late on Friday night & I was too tired to get up extra early. I did a 26 hour fast leading up to my dinner on Friday night, but I guess it did not help. The rest of the weekend was a wash. I had a party Saturday at lunchtime and then out again Saturday night. I did not workout Sat. or Sun. Yesterday was a very relaxing day. I did a few loads of laundry I wasn't able to get to on Friday, but I never got out of my pj's, lol. We did get a new fridge, it was delivered yesterday. I had to empty out the old one and then put everything back in the new one. It is so big, I love it! My fridge is so much more organized, the old one was much smaller and I had to stack stuff wherever I could find space.
I am resetting today! I am not going to let my gain affect me getting back on track! I am going to try to stay on track as best I can even with Thanksgiving on Thursday. I even found a WW Pumpkin Cheesecake recipe that is low in points. I may make it and bring it to my cousin's house, I am sure they won't want it, but at least I can have dessert that won't break the calorie bank.
@amytriesww that was scary after your procedure! Thank God you are ok!
@cyndiesstuff glad they figured out what happened to your son! Glad he is feeling better!
@sleepymom5 glad the wedding went well! Please post a picture or pictures when you get a chance.
@Mrsbell8well those last few pounds are the hardest to lose especially that you are thin, you do not need to really lose, but you will do it!
I am not going to let the last few days derail me! If I can do well this week with Thanksgiving, I will be very happy! I can do it! We have a Christmas party on Dec 14th, so that is my motivation! I am going to try to see how much I can lose by then. I have a little less than 3 weeks before the party, so if I really try, I think I can drop 5-8 pounds.
Have a wonderful day & week!3 -
Monday 11/25 check in
Food: logged and on track
Water: 40 oz
Exercise: a quick 10 minutes at home
My day was a little different. Got home from work and slept 3 hours and then got ready to go to my sister's for lunch. My oldest nephew and his wife are here for the week. Also my middle nephew and his wife were bringing their newborn over. She's almost 3 weeks old.
I don't normally do this because it really messes up my sleep schedule but I only see my oldest nephew and his wife once a year when they come to visit.
So, I was up when I should have been sleeping. My sister lives 45 minutes away so just the driving time was 1 1/2 hours. My dad,(the great Grandpa) also went. He drove so I could at least try to rest on the way back. The two of us live maybe 10 minutes away from each other.
I slept for a few hours when I got home and now need to leave for work, when I'd rather go to bed.😴 Good thing I have a long weekend coming up.5 -
@Mrsbell8well
I know sleep is important but don't want to sleep all of my days and weekends away either. I used to do better with my sleep even with my 3rd shift schedule, just seems the last few months have been harder. When I stay after work for overtime that already messes up the sleep pattern. I've been on a list to go to 1st shift for a long time, maybe someday I'll actually get to go. I'm glad you're enjoying my posts.I think just writing them helps me too. I may be writing to someone else to try and encourage them but I think a lot of the times I'm actually talking to myself, trying to get the positive message in my head.
I enjoy your posts also. They are helpful, encouraging and thought provoking.
@Cafelelia
I'm glad I'm getting that extra time off too! Seems kind of funny to say I'm looking forward to sleeping a lot and at night for several nights in a row😁
@kirsten11872
Glad you are staying positive! That does help a lot. Keep up the good work!5 -
Monday 11/25 check in
Food: practice practice practice
Exercise: 30 minutes walk
Water: 50 oz
I have had a very good string of days where I have been learning how to deal with my urges. yesterday I fell down. And that's all there was to it. I fell down. I'm not going to go into what I did or what I compulsively overate because I do not want to trigger anybody. I have journaled about it this morning and I have come to realize that this time it was different. There was no beating myself up. What there was was kind compassionate words and a loving talk that went something like this. It's okay sweetheart, you're going to have days where old habits spring back up again. You had lived your life for so many years with the compulsive overeating being your response. This won't change overnight. This changes with practice. So today I'm working on practice. I am going to practice this until it becomes my new normal. I will be kind and loving to myself through it all. Because although I did this to myself, it does not make me a bad person because of it. I will not feel shame any longer. I am recovering from a compulsive overeating addiction.6 -
Going to be a long day. Taking my running clothes to work. 60 degrees forecast hoping for lunch run. It’s a 15 minute. Last run before the trot. Went to library w Molly last night. Went to chipotle for dinner. Molly was full 1/2 way through. So we both wrapped up our leftovers. That never happens. I am planning a juice fast cleanse in December. I have been thinking a lot about how I eat. I’m one of those individuals that eats everything on my plate. I really never think about if I’m still hungry or not. I am hoping to find a new way of eating and thinking about food in the new year. I love delicious nourishing food. Lately I’m caught back up in a frenzy diet mindset. It has worked before to get me to goal. But doesn’t help me to stay there. My freezer is currently stocked with pumpkin pancakes, bagels, honey wheat bread, and organic seeded bread. They are all good and delicious but it’s really too much. I’m a Libra always struggling to balance the scale.
But I’m so deeply grateful to be where I am today. I love feeling so fit. I also want to make sure this is a sustainable lifestyle not a diet. Every day is a journey and a learning experience. It does take practice as @cyndiesstuff has mentioned. I have issues. I want to convince myself that now im a normal girl, but I’m still me. That’s ok. I will take me today just the way I am.
We’re all going to the arcade tonight. Wood grill pizza and fierce games of ping pong.4 -
Monday check in
Food - logged & on target
Exercise - 45 minutes with trainer, 9k steps
Water - 1.5l
My schedule this week is just not easy and I am cranky. I am just trying to stay on track and stay positive (not easy). The weather today quite warm, which is such a contrast to the early winter blast that we got 2 weeks ago.
@mrsbell8well - You will make this sustainable and you are doing so many of the right things already! I think that looking at how you eat, your hunger and your mindset is a good way to do it.
@cyndiesstuff - You are doing great and thank you for sharing your approach in such detail! Being kind and loving to yourself is always the way to go. And you are right that a few days of overeating should not cause you to give up. You can gain control over the compulsive overeating and you can do this! We are here to support you whenever you need us.
@tryingagain5 - Good day again, and it is understandable that you would give up on some sleep to have more time visiting with your family. Here’s to having some great sleeps on your extra days off!
@kirsten11872 - Great job resetting! It is the holiday season, and you are right not to let a few days derail you. I really like the idea of bringing the WW Pumpkin Cheesecake to Thanksgiving. You can just say it is cheesecake and see what happens. I’ll bet people will eat it and love it. We hosted Canadian Thanksgiving this year, and cooked all healthy options, with the exception of the dessert. We didn’t make any announcements about making only healthy options, we just presented the food and everybody loved it. It certainly made things easy for me. So absolutely make & bring that cheesecake!

Not a very good week. We traveled this weekend to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. Lots of eating with the relatives and also on the road. Trying to get my head back in sync with what I need to do to keep losing. It will be another hard week with holiday travel and celebrating Thanksgiving with my husband's family.
My plan for this next week is too keep as close to plan as I can and drink my water and get some exercise in. I'll do the best I can with the eating but I'm not going to beat myself up if I fail and gain again next week which is very probable. This is a life long journey not just a quick trip.5 -

I just wanted to drop in quick and say hello. The wedding was beautiful. Everything went well. It was smaller than Nicole's and I actually felt like I got to spend time with everyone at this wedding. Danny was very emotional. He cried when she came down the aisle, during the vows and when we were dancing. He is so sweet. My husband is very emotional too. I am not surprised but the pictures are starting to come in and I am not happy how I look. Oh well, I will post when I have some good ones. These are from friends and are grainy looking. It was just a wonderful day from when the guys showed up in the morning until we went to our hotel room after the after party. Only bad thing is I can't find my clutch which had nothing of value in it except my prescription sun glasses.
I am hoping to be able to read through everything later today. My last wedding guest had an early flight out this am. Now I only have my brother who will be staying through Saturday. I have been doing well for the most part. I haven't exercised since Saturday but I plan to do it today. Mostly because my knee and hip have been killing me. I think I pushed it with dancing at the wedding. Eating has been good, a few over eats and I am up a little in weight but I think it may be the sodium from eating out last night. It is so easy to fall into eating what everyone else does. I am so happy I made a plan. When I am ready to reach for something I remind myself that I don't want to gain and that I have a plan. So far the toddler Pam hasn't come out and thrown a fit Lol! My only problem has been eating past my two a few times because I forgot at first but did stop when I remembered. All in all though I have been doing good. Ok, I have a ton to do to get ready for Thanksgiving and clean up after the wedding. Hope everyone is doing well.6 -

Ok - I need help... I need to trim the fat off my budget and I am switching from cable to live streaming... One problem, I know nothing about different streaming stations...
Please help - If you are a streamer and you are currently using a live streaming station (HULU, Netflix, etc.) which includes primary channels ( 4, 5, 7, 10, etc. ), and if you are willing to share, please let me know what it costs you? How it works? What you think about it? or anything else you want to help me out with???
I know this is not about fitness - but my financial and mental stability impact my health too... Help me out, I would love to hear from my friends that do stream...
Thanks

@steplaj we got rid of cable a long time ago. I use YouTube tv. It only cost 50 per month. Has all the channels. We did have Hulu but my husband likes this better.
@cyndiesstuff glad they found out what was wrong with your son so quickly and that he got to come home.
@sleepymom5 so glad you enjoyed the wedding.
I'm looking forward to a 5 day weekend. Im hoping to make it out of the building without my boss changing her mind about letting me have the day off tomorrow. I also forgot I signed up for overtime on a Zumba day. Hopefully I'm not needed and can get out of here and make my class on time. I sure can use the break. Thanksgiving is at my house and then in Sunday we have a baby shower for my oldest son and his girlfriend. Good thing I'm not in charge of this shower. I only had to pick up the guest book, that everyone signs a little note to the baby. Tomorrow I'll get the gifts wrapped and I just have diapers left to buy for the raffle. Should be a fun weekend.4 -
Hello All! The last week has been a blur. We ultimately decided to not make the 1000 mile drive to attend our friend's funeral service. Some times in certain situations deciding to not do something is the hardest decision of all. She was much loved and the family has a ton of support. My eating has been totally erratic... periods of no appetite followed by eating too much at one meal. Not sleeping well... too much monkey mind. Exercise has been good... keeping active and busy has been my way to avoid my feelings. Thanksgiving will be just me and my husband. Not much in the spirit... need to figure out what I'm cooking as I never got a turkey.
@sleepymom5 glad the wedding went well. Can't wait to see pictures. I'm sure you looked beautiful in that amazing dress. We are our harshest critic.
@tryingagain5 I was wondering if you would ever have an opportunity to transfer out of night shift and whether that was something you would want to do. Hopefully one day you can.
@Cafelelia you have a pretty busy week with very little, if any, time for yourself.... I would be cranky too.
Another nice loss @phoebe112476. I wish I had your consistency! Its inspiring.
@mrsbell8well I love what you wrote about your sister saying "oh great this is when things start getting better". What a lovely outlook on life. I will work on that but wish it was my natural reaction to hard times. My mother always looked at things from a positive point of view. I have to work at being positive. Ooh ping pong and pizza. I want to tag along3 -
Hello and happy Tuesday everyone. I have not been doing well this week. It’s kind of a weird thing - eating when I’m not hungry. I keep trying to analyze myself and see if there’s something bothering me that I’m trying to block by eating. Very strange. If I keep up at the rate I’m going I will have a weight gain this week.
Plus I’m so disappointed about the romaine lettuce situation because I love salads and many places just aren’t taking any chances and are just not carrying any salads or lettuce at all!!!5 -

Tuesday 11/26 check in
Food: logged but over
Water:64 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes at the gym
(20 minutes speed intervals and 10 minutes cardio/conditioning exercises)
I had a work potluck today and another get together tonight. I did pretty well at the potluck. I didn't overeat and was not going to have any dessert. I did end up having one slice of cheesecake, where in the past, I would have had that plus a little of all the desserts.
I knew I was going out tonight as well. I looked up the calorie info before I went and picked lower calorie items and stuck with that. I would have stayed pretty much within my calorie limit for the day until I had some Russell Stover's chocolate. (I wasn't planning on having any chocolate)That's what put me over. 240 calories in a 3 piece serving.🙄 I did burn 245 calories during my workout so hopefully that will help a bit.
I didn't work overtime this morning so I got to bed on time and slept really well. I didn't wake up until my alarm went off. 6 1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep.😁 I work tonight and when I get off in the morning I'm off until Sunday night. I hope the night goes by fast.
When I was doing my speed intervals, my trainer and one of his other clients were watching me(I didn't know it until they told me). They said I was doing great and was "killing" it. That's kind of funny because I was having trouble with it today. Couldn't even do the 1 minute run, the longest I made it today was 45 seconds and most were 30 seconds but at least I was doing it.
Will catch up on posts tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great night!4 -
I finished reading what I missed. I will comment tomorrow. I am exhausted and going to bed. I had a good day. Hope everyone has a good night.4

Day 4 - Day Before Thanksgiving
Well today as any Chef worth his salt would do I will prep what I can as to make my day tomorrow less stressed tomorrow... I am will get the bird into the smoker and put a light smoke on it.....I am gong to relax with my wife as she home for a mini break from work .... No family to deal with as the boys are with their Families... will probably remember the years past with mom on Family Thanksgiving Days past as this is the first T/G without her and that will be a challenge all in it's for me.
So that's nothing huge...nothing stressful.. Just Greg And Marcie doing their thing.
Yesterday I was occupied with getting community posts out... making sure that all of the teams are ready for a very stressful time of year... So yes yesterday suffered where eating and logging and exercise was concerned..... and I suppose with my re-commitment to this team...to this group...to each and everyone of you I will have more days like yesterday... but what the hell you all are worth it.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM MY FAMILY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THIS WONDERFUL WORLD

I didn't believe the scale went down this week after my potluck and dinner out yesterday and eating lunch at my sister's on Monday. Nice surprise! I also didn't believe it was in the next "decade". I stepped on the scale 3 times to make sure it was right. Silly me!🙄🤣6 -
I’m off work today but ready to start cooking. Mom will be using the oven to make a turkey tomorrow so I need to bake today.
We had a lot of fun last night. Mom is 88 and was so happy to play ping pong. She used to be a champ. It’s been awhile and she was rusty but we all had fun. Dad age 90 was so happy to be shooting pool. He had to slowly walk around the table with his cane to take each shot. They both felt nostalgic for times when they were in their prime but oh how their eyes sparkled to be going through the motions.
Have a great day everyone!3
