Food: logged and over
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 40 minutes walk, PT, stretching and strength
Doing a little better getting back to my routine but not quite there. It was nice out so I was happy to get out for a long walk with Shannon. It is just so hard not to be pulled away with everything that is going on.
@tryingagain5 I am glad that you got some food prep done today and got to listen to your sister's church service on line. It is fine if you aren't able to respond to every post. Just come and post about your day. Hang in there with everything that is going on.
Awesome week steppers! Congrats to the winners this week! @timibotkin, @xX_PhoenixRising_Xx and @Freeglerock3 -

Good morning everyone,
I followed my plan yesterday and it was a more relaxing one just to give myself a break. We stayed in, watched movies and I took a break from household chores. Our PM is speaking at 1 pm today and we expect more intense measures to be put in place across the country. I am following my plan and routine today. I am also working on a plan for my kids to homeschool them and give them some structure. I speak to and email my mother and MIL a few times a day. I find that they are comforting because they have lived through very tough times in the past like wars, so they are much calmer and more philosophical about the state of things now, even though they are at risk themselves. I wish they could stay with us, but at their age, they have been told to self-isolate. Ok, today the plan is to keep calm (mostly) and carry on. Hope that everyone is doing well today.
@tryingagain5 - Hope that work went well last night and that you are resting today.
@sleepymom5 - Glad that you got out for a walk today. I am going to try to do the same myself.
@brown6267 - Thanks for the steps and I am inspired by your consistency.

Hang in there everyone. We will get through this. Try to stick with your routine as much as you can or make a new routine for this time. I know it is hard, I am struggling myself. Sending hugs to all of you!

Hi all,
Weigh in day!
username - podperson1
Week - 3
Previous weight - 194.0
Current weight - 192.4
Will take that - have done no exercise all week as cold/flu has kicked my butt. Feeling a little better the past day or two, back to work tomorrow though Am getting very annoyed with the 'panic-buying', was supposed to have an online grocery shop delivered yesterday, after waiting in for 2 hours past the delivery slot they finally decided to cancel the whole thing. So had to trek to the shops today so get essentials at least. Some of the shelves were pretty bare - I don't really get it tbh, how many packs of dried pasta and tins of beans do people need lol.
Have an appointment next week for my gym referral scheme, hopefully the gyms will still be open by then!5 -
I just got the word from my gym that all gyms in Michigan have been asked to shut down for 2 weeks. I understand the concern but I am still bummed as I consider that one of my ways to stay healthy - working out. The gym I go to does interval training and we have switched over to where we don't share equipment - we just grab what we need and then clean our own items at the end. But I guess that won't be happening anymore. I don't know what I'll do for my workouts - my gym might do an online workout that people can do at home. I just am very frustrated by this - and I'm not trying to be selfish - I just like having some consistency in my life during this crazy time.
Sorry for dumping on you guys,7 -
@CassieGetsFit2013 - I forgot to mention you in my earlier post. Great loss!! Keep it going!!
@podperson1 - Great loss this week! I feel your frustration with the shops and panic buying. We all need patience right now. Come on to vent whenever you need to
@lennoncpa - I am so sorry about your gym closing. They have closed here as well along with so many other businesses. I use some online apps to workout and they are nice. There is also a ton of free stuff on YouTube if you have a look around. Don’t give up on the workouts and do the best you can! You have been doing so great!2 -
@1theresamcvean what sweet words! Thank you so much. Its an ornamental plum tree I believe. Apples are my favorite trees. So gorgeous.
I appreciate everyone’s comments and support. I’m sticking it out with the rest of you.
My heart has been much better this weekend thankfully. I am heeding advice to take it easy. Molly went shopping with me yesterday which was very helpful.
I’m running slow today. Lots of problem solving at work.
I had such fun at the markets! Peas, artichokes, asparagus, herbs, strawberries and other seasonal goodies plus cabbage, potatoes and carrots for Tuesday with Irish soda bread. Also bought daffodils, campanulas and baby pink carnations.
We start our 12 week walking program today. We will take before pictures. I sure miss being fit.
@sleepymom5 the kids are fine. My daughters boyfriend spends a lot of time in the ER. He gets stressed. As far as second opinion for me, she hasn’t found anyone. I’m switching up my food and vitamins and seeing again what I can do.
Just ate a big bowl of detox soup.
Have a great week everyone!3 -
My gym has cut back their hours and cancelled all classes. I only go for the classes. No zumba for 2 weeks could be longer. We had a teacher workshop today. We have changed our drop off and pick up routines. Parents are not getting past the front hallway. This will be interesting. We also cut back hours the kids can be in the building but staff still have to work their hours to disinfect more than we usually do. Some staff are not going to be working they are chosing to stay home. We will remain open until we are told to close so I will work for as long as I can. I'm staying out of stores until I have to go in. I'm hoping the craziness will slow down soon.3

another rubbish day to do. The museum has now shut down for at least 3 months. That is 3 months with no income generating activity. TBF schools were cancelling hand over fist 3 cancellations today worth about £1500 so by closing the museum we are taking out destiny into our own hands. I don't know what that means. Anyway stressful day. Not really tried. tomorrow is my birthday apart from weight training for an event I am not sure is even happening I am going to let it all hang out own the gain and get back to it. I know it is not an inspirational message but this is where I am at for now.8

Monday 3/16
Food: under
Water:40 oz
Exercise: 15 minutes low intensity
The county I live in now has its first confirmed case of coronavirus. The news made it sound like this person had no travel history and hadn't been around anyone who had been sick. Like @lennoncpa mentioned my gym is also closed for 2 weeks by state order. It's going to be strange not going to the gym. I'm going to have to make sure to push myself to do something at home.
Also, they're closing bars, pubs and dine in restaurants. They can still do take out, they're trying to limit the amount of people in one place.
My trainer texted that he plans on coming up with some workouts for his clients to do at home. That's really nice of him. I don't have any equipment at home but I'm sure he'll come up with some great ideas for me to do without equipment. I also have a book of bodyweight exercises that I can use and I"ll probably do some more of the walking videos.
Every evening activity I have is now cancelled for at least 2 weeks, some for a month. Even the local library has opted to close. The only place I"ll be going to is work. It's understandable that everything is shut down but it's going to be strange just going to work and home.
@sleepymom5 if I remember correctly, you have a bar. Do you have the same policy as Michigan?
I got up early today to go with my dad to his cardiologist appointment. Just a regular follow up appointment. They gave me a visitor pass but they are wanting just the patient to be there. My dad is getting forgetful and he knows it so he likes me to go with him to help him remember everything the doctor says. She was pretty blunt in telling my dad that he is in the high risk category for this virus, like a lot of our parents are. She basically told him to stay home as much as possible, like we should all be doing.
Since I didn't get enough sleep today and have nowhere to go until it's time for work, I'm going to take a nap.3 -
Monday 3/16
Food: logged and over
Water:64 oz
Exercise: 40 min walk, PT, strength and stretching
Not a great day, I did overeat at dinner but I followed my plan and worked out. I had a very good PT session too . I could really feel a difference when I didn't do my PT and stretching for a few days in a row. So, even though I overate, I did well overall today and I am happy about that.
As you all know, this is an unprecedented time in our lives and the entire world is affected. Each day there seems to be graver news and more restrictions. I know that we all are stressed with everything going on. I am trying just to keep things as normal as possible. If you want to come on here and do your check in for the day or if you want to come on and vent about what is going on-please do! I believe that what is going on in our lives effect our eating and exercising habits. This is something huge that everyone is experiencing. Please know this is a safe place to come and get things off your chest. We may not answer right away or may not have the answers but we are here to support you all. Virtual hugs are still safe so I am sending them to you all!
@podperson1 Nice loss! I am glad you are feeling better today. It is crazy all over and we all seem to have the panic buying in common. I have a feeling that your gym will be closed.
@lennoncpa You are in such a good routine with your exercising. I bet if you make a plan you can still get a good workout in. There are a lot of routines on youtube and other sites.
@Mrsbell8well Looks like your market still has a lot of produce, I am hoping for the same. I am hoping to go tomorrow. How do you get protein in? My daughter was a vegetarian but had to add in chicken and turkey because she had a hard time getting the protein in that her dietician recommended. We were surprised to see how much of the vegan protein sources she had to eat.
@ljdanny I am sorry about the gym. I know you are a regular in your classes. Do you have a place to workout at home? I think the baby might have taken over that room if I remember correctly. I am sure there are zumba classes on line you can do. You also are good with getting out for walks. I hope that you stay open longer for work.
@amsandos I think it is just as important to check in when things aren't going well. Everyone seems to be taking a hit financially. It is scary! There isn't much you can do about all of that now. Remember that eating and not working out isn't going to change anything that is happening. It is kind of a bummer of a birthday week, but Happy Birthday.
@hope002. Great stepping!
@tryingagain5 It sounds like Pa and Michigan have the same restrictions. My husband and his partner closed the bar right before it was announced that they had to. They are going to offer take out. They are hoping to be able to do that tomorrow. I am sorry about the gym but I love that your trainer is keeping in touch and making a plan for when you are at home.4 -

Our first “Spring” dinner.
First day of walking program.
Dinner Vegan oven Rissoto with pesto from “Rabbits and Wolves” blog. Delish! With roasted asparagus.
3 -
@sleepymom5 I get my protein from ground flax seeds, hemp seeds, nuts, legumes and tofu.
We had 1 serving of risotto left. I was 148.8 this morning. If I see 147 on the scale tomorrow, I get the leftovers. If not, Molly gets them. Seemed like a fair deal lol.1 -
March spring it forward photo challenge-
Motivation Monday- "If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way" ~ Napoleon Hill
What are some small things have done that made a difference? Have you left a few bites on you plate? Added more steps in your day? Maybe a few extra ounces of water? Are there small things that your are doing right now for self-care or to help out others? Post a photo or describe the little things that make a difference to you.
Charlie! I had some hip issues for almost a year. I had to slowly build up my walking and Charlie forced me to do it. I walk my son Danny's dog as Danny and his wife both work. I started in the fall and slowly have increased the distance and pace. I try to do at least 30 min. This summer I could only do short distances and would be in pain afterwards or if I tried to do more. I have more than doubled my steps since this summer. It is an awesome feeling to be close to where I was before my hip issues started.

One last thing-Quite a few members of our team gyms have closed. Why don't we all pitch in with websites or apps that we enjoy. Hopefully we will have enough that there will be plenty to choose from.
4 -
@sleepymom5
That was nice of your husband and his partner to close before they had to. Glad they will be able to still do takeout.
I saw on Facebook that my gym's owner is still going to pay his staff while they are off because as he said "it seems like the right thing to do". He is also offering a small discount to members if they feel the need to be reimbursed for the 2 weeks, although the cost for the month is generally around $40, so for the 2 weeks $20. Several members have already posted in response to the owner "keep my dues since it seems like the right thing to do". If there are members who are in financial difficulties now because of everything the owner is going to work with them on that so that's also wonderful. This is a fairly new owner since the previous owner retired not too long ago.3 -
Day 1 of the apocalypse:
We have teacher work days this week. I went in to grab my computer today and my teacher textbook. I plan to work from home the rest of the week.
Made some workout plans and a quick calendar for daily health goals. Then I cleaned and reorganized our closet and a couple of storage spots in our bedroom. That took a good chunk of the day.
Dealt with explaining social distancing to my 12 year old about 50 thousand times. He's an extrovert, so this is killing him. It's day one. It's day ONE.
Ate okay I think and logged all my food. Could have had more water.
Sunday steps: 8,202 - the goal is to be above 8,000 every day.
Sunday exercise: 40 minutes of Yoga, plus the cleaning.
Stay healthy!6 -

Thanks for the advice @Cafelelia and @sleepymom5. I got up this morning at my usual 5 am and did a YouTube workout and so its giving my life some sense of normalcy.
I’m still eating really good and trying to stay in my food routine. For the last few weeks - on Monday I cut up all kinds of vegetables and roast them in the oven with a little olive oil. I eat them with hummus or beans and sometimes a few of the healthy types of crackers. I’ve been changing around the vegetables and started chopping up some habanero peppers in it too - since I like my food spicy. This week I had a really hard time finding onions - not sure why that is - but mostly I have a great variety of vegetables. I usually have enough vegetables to last me through the week - so that I have something to munch on when I get cravings!
I hope everyone is staying safe and not struggling with all that is going on.2 -
I succeeded with my Saturday and Sunday intentions. Then yesterday the premiere and prime minister's statements really got to me. The prime minister's made me cry. The stay home was so clear. I'm home but without my family, as they're grown up. I have two international students who can't go home and have no idea when they will. One is Wendy (which is an English name she chose. Her name is really Hà.). The other is Juan.
They are both champions of disinfecting things. I'm a germaphobe, so since February 2nd, when Wendy returned from Lunar New Year in Viet Nam, we have been using paper hand towels, washing our hands often and every time we come or go for 20 seconds. I send Juan memes of Spock and Wendy boy band songs about washing your hands. We use hand sanitizer, which I've supplied when out. They wipe down their backpacks, phones, iPads, wallets, door handles, light switches, and hard surfaces in their rooms once a day. We have a protocol for cleaning in the bathroom behind ourselves.
Wendy has taken to sleeping until 5:00 p.m. since the schools shut down, so I had a talk with her yesterday and she cried. I gave her a hug and talked about mental health. I said that while it's nice to sleep in on a Saturday that it's not sustainable to our mental health to do it indefinitely. I gave her a goal to wake up by 1:00 p.m. and go for a walk in the fresh air for 15 minutes and do something social with me for another 15 minutes. I hope that's not overstepping, but I discussed this with my adult daughter who knows Wendy.
Juan seemed pretty stressed yesterday because lunch isn't included for him and he was afraid to go out to eat. I assured him that I would make him lunch. He was easily calmed. He'll go out each day on his skateboard and take apocalypse photos. He's an art student. He's also an introvert, so thrives a bit more than Wendy.
Wendy usually goes to Starbucks and for Bubble tea twice a day, and out to restaurants for lunch or dinner easily four times a week with her friends.
I suggested they keep a diary so that one day when this passes and they're married with children and someone asks, 'what did you do during the COVID-19 crisis,' they will have stories to tell.
I must admit that I'm very homesick for my own family right now. I feel it would be so much less stressful to be with them instead. But, I'm going to use this feeling to have empathy for Wendy and Juan instead of feeling sorry for myself. I'll be Facetiming with my grandchildren, son, and daughter-in-law, and my daughter will walk from her place (a bit of a long walk) and we'll go for a walk outside.
My intentions for today:
- Walk in the fresh air twice. See if my neighbour's dog can join us.
- Log my food. Reduce comfort eating in the evening by preparing healthy things to munch on ahead of time.
- 10 cups of water/clear tea. Drink more calming tea and less wine.
- Get some work done. Work on one ad campaign and home page promo for the startup.6 -
Ok everybody, I listed some workouts!
I did some research and the links below are for lists of the best workouts on YouTube, for Zumba and best overall apps. Most apps do have a cost, so be mindful of that. I list my own apps too. Calm is meditation and music, but it is a really nice app to have right now.
I know it is hard to focus, but let’s commit to getting through this while maintaining our focus on self care, health and fitness! It may not be easy, but we will be so thankful when this is over that we did not give up! A small, planned treat is better than stress eating everyday! Even a crappy & distracted work out is better than no work out! Walking indoors is better than binge watching the news cycle!
Also if you are frustrated, lonely, anxious, upset, please post here to vent. It is hard to post community resources as we are all over the world. If you feel you need outside supports, please speak to your doctor, family, friends, neighbours, or look up community hotlines and texting lines. You do not have to deal with this alone.
Weight No More family, we have always relied upon each other for daily support and we will continue to do so throughout this difficult time.
Big virtual hugs to everyone today!

Monday check in
I stayed on plan yesterday, drank all of my water, but did not work out due to stress and distraction. As @1theresamcvean mentioned, our PM spoke to our country very seriously yesterday, shut our borders to everyone except the US and called on all Canadians overseas to come home immediately. He is always an excellent speaker, and like Theresa, I cried. New restrictions have been put in place at our borders, in our province and our city. While we are not in an Italian style lock down, everything is pretty much closed down except groceries, pharmacies and convenience stores. Restaurants can do take out, but some have just closed. While the number of cases in Canada remain relatively low to the rest of the world, our cases doubled over the weekend and will likely continue to rise as people return home. I feel overwhelmed at times thinking about my kids and our elderly moms. I worry about my husband as he has to continue to help keep his firm going, and for now that means going into the office for critical services since staff have been sent home. I bounce between resilience and the opposite of it. My best plan for today and going forward it to maintain some structure in our lives, help people where I can and stay connected with family and friends.
@1theresamcvean - It has to be hard not having your family with you. You are doing all of the right things with your daily intentions, working, walking with your daughter, staying connected with family online and helping Wendy and Juan. It must be terrible for them to be so far from home right now. That diary suggestion is a great idea and I will use it for my kids. I can kind of picture your routine as I am just a few neighbourhood away doing similar things! Big hugs to my fellow Torontonian and we will get through this!
@lennoncpa - Glad that you found a Youtube workout and that you are keeping up your healthy eating! You are a role model for all of us!
@brown6267 - Great steps!
@hope002 - Great day, keep it up!
@GingerPwr - Fantastic workouts and focus! That’s how you do it! I have the same problem with my extroverted 13 year old. He is really having a hard time with this. While I normally limit electronics, I am so thankful he can at least socialize through his games and online!
@Mrsbell8well - Yummy supper!
@sleepymom5 - Great that you are keeping things as normal as possible and focusing on the PT is really good right now!
@tryingagain5 - So sorry about your gym closing and that would be ideal if your trainer can provide you with some workouts. Those YouTube videos that I posted above include many workouts that do not require equipment, so have look. I know it is very difficult not having any of our usual places and activities open. I am trying to you FaceTime, texting, group chats and online sites as a substitute, but it is not easy. Take care of your dad and yes, he absolutely should be self-isolating now.
@amsandos - Happy Birthday!! Try to make the best of it today because celebrations are needed right now. Come on to post any time, positive or negative.
@ljdanny - I am sorry about your gym classes being cancelled. I posted that Zumba link just for you!
