This is our favourite recipe for the family
. It is one that I cut out of a weightwatcher magazine many many years ago. Must admit, we do add chorizo, and more recently been adding peas sometimes instead of the beans.3 -

I am right on calories, at my step goal of 8000 but no specific exercise. Still having a lot of nerve pain, managed a field trip with my son's class today because I had to. With his Aspergers he has meltdowns and he can't go if a parent isn't there. We were at the beach - archery and surfing - I am now sunburnt and only coped with strong meds!
My older son turns 15 tomorrow so I have cupcakes in the oven for his Basketball team for after their game in the morning, and tomorrow I'll make his actual cake.
For those who spotted it - yes that's a Dr Who quote on my tattoo and yes I'm a big fan. Not many people place the quote! My bigger tattoo is based on Alice in Wonderland, because it suits my sense of the whimsical perfectly. Lewis Carroll is the first author I remember loving, apart from Roald Dahl.

Wow, that was good timing – I lost 800 grams overnight! I really thought the weight was going to keep increasing this week cuz I went heaps over in calories but I'm okay with that as I am in the process of adjusting to a new super strict diet & my health is really bad at the moment physically but hoping it keeps improving this week… Although the exercise really does help on my slightly better days, I am taking it easy on the bad days cuz my body scares me recently. From last week on I'm doing everything I can to control my diabetes (so no fruit etc & getting closer n closer to a vegan keto diet to cure my diabetes) & seriously avoid stress at all costs cuz I'm running on fumes in an empty tank.
One step at a time! I'm doing really well adjusting - I think some serious relaxation & hermit-ness is in order!
I’m getting excited again – can’t wait to get even closer to my goal!! 8.3 Kg to go… when I get to 63.5 Kg / 140 lbs I’ll be half way there!

Ok, this is slow, but I will take it! I have to leave soon to drive to my Mom, who lives about 90 minutes away. I have a meeting with her and her bank and will take over her finances as PoA today. She has been very independent until now and still is, but she wants this arrangement as a safeguard. So, I have to run. Yesterday was a good one and I was on plan, water and exercise. It was best friend day at my house with the strike, so just more general chaos than usual. Have a great Friday everyone!3 -
I love to bake as well as cook. This is one of my favorite baking recipes for muffins from Skinny Taste (I love her recipes, they are healthy and they always work!). My kids love them and so do I. This recipe is so adaptable and you can switch out ingredients. You can use all purpose flour instead of cake flour, less sugar, berries instead of chocolate chips, entire eggs instead of egg whites and change up the flour for gluten free, playing with the wet to dry proportions a bit.

@Freeglerock That recipe looks delicious! I love one that is tried and true. It sounds like it is something that is definitely in your dinner rotation.

@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Sounds like you are still doing well even with your pain. I am glad you are still taking the steps you need to stay on track although I know it isn't easy. I am sure your son appreciates that you went on the trip so he could go. That sounds like a fun trip that he would have had to miss. If he doesn't appreciate it now, he will when he gets older. I forgot what a good baker you are! I remember you making some pretty awesome cakes in the past. Happy 15 to your son! Is he your oldest? Hugs and hope you are feeling better soon.
@rosiesposiesrl Nice loss! I am glad the scale was in your favor and you ended the week strong. I am not sure how often you check in but I am going to ask anyway. Why are you are going on a super restrictive diet? I know you have diabetes but I don't think that you need to be too restrictive. Maybe you can meet with a nutritionist or dietician? I am sure your doctor can recommend one. I know you need to eat differently since you have that diagnosis. Do you really want to be vegan and keto? If so, that is great. Keep it going. I like that you are making small steps to get there. If you don't think that is really what you want and if you are having a hard time with adjusting to the restrictions why don't you sit down and really focus on what you want and where you want to be. Make some changes but stuff you will be able to do. If you need to dial back on the carbs, start with the bread,pasta and sweets, once you get that down, cut back on the fruit and potatoes etc. I can't really say too much because I don't know what you eat now and I don't know what your sugars are like. That is why I recommended a dietician or nutritionist. I just know it is harder to stick to a plan that is too restrictive. It also may help to make your diet not be another thing you are stressing over. Maybe try to make a plan that you are willing to live with the rest of your life that also takes into consideration your diabetes and make some changes to move towards that. These are just things for you consider if the restrictions aren't working. Like I said, you may be happy with going vegan and keto and that is absolutely fine. It is whatever works for you. I just want you to know there are other options out there. Hugs my friend. I know it isn't easy. Hope you start feeling better soon too. Have a great week. xo
@Cafelelia I am glad you are making those changes while your mom is still independent. My mom wouldn't let my brother be involved but thankfully had him as POA. She went 6 months without paying bills and no one knew it. We were lucky water and electric was on automatic bill pay. Her lawn person still cut the grass even though she wasn't paying. I will never forget her. What an awesome person. Good luck with everything. Love the muffin recipe. I think I am going to get on my phone and screen shot some of these recipes. I also like the idea of throwing in berries too!

You all know my cooking skills! Lol! This is my dump and stir salad. I recommend adding the dressing and mixing it well before adding the other toppings. You can also add protein, I like the rotisserie chicken and dry edemame. I also put some tuna out there since it is lent for some of us
All joking aside, I do like the skinnytaste chicken parm. I don't have it written down so I sorry for all the screen shots.

Hi all,
So far am on track calorie-wise, though Friday night is tempting me to have a wee drink - liquid calories get me every time lol!
I am a very lazy cook but this something I tried for the first time the other week - Shakshuka. Apparently it's popular as a breakfast in the Middle East but I have it for dinner as it's pretty filling. My friend did point out that my plate looks like an angry owl, but it tasted good Quick and easy, plus only 312 calories.

Hello & TGIF!! So happy the weekend is here! I am feeling good! This week has been very successful! My food & exercise have been on point! As of this morning I am 8 pounds down since Saturday, very excited! I still have one more day before I weigh-in, I am hoping I may drop a little more, but I am very happy with 8 pounds, just hoping I do not gain, but even if I go up a pound by tomorrow, it will still be a very good weigh-in!
Back to the gym again tonight. Eating healthy, on track! I feel so much better after just one week of getting back to my regular routine. I am hoping to see the 160's within the next 2 weeks, it has been a long time since I have seen that number on the scale.
Do not forget to change your clocks ahead an hour this weekend. I hate losing the hour, but I love that it stays light out much later.

@sleepymom5 thanks! I am hoping he is not too resistant, but I know him, he is stubborn! My husband wants us to go, we are very frustrated and it is draining!

food - so the food planning has got me eating proper meals again which is progress but I am still doing naughty snacking. I have to move my snacks in the car from the front seat to the boot. I also need to invest in some little pots for portion control.

So it is better but not great. It is like turning a tanker I have to build up to it. I am going to calorie count starting tomorrow. I ate a lot of nuts so I need to do some portion control. I also ate a chocolate biscuit (only the one) When I got home I had LO pizza crusts and some cheese bisuits oh and chocolate in the car. However my boss gave me some cadbury's creeme eggs to take home and I didn't eat any. So I need to increase the proportion of time I get it right. I am going to be kind to myself. My aim this week is not to gain but to get to used to not binging on crap. I may be snacking but I am not binging on crap. Progress however small is progress.

Going to take a nap before going to work. We were already told we have to go in to work 2 hours early on Sunday night.
I'm not sure why the building I'm in is so busy when another building doesn't have enough work. They've been sending some of those employees to my building so they can still work. I'm thinking that will be less OT for 3rd shift but that's ok. I've worked a lot of OT since before Christmas.3 -

A good day today. I just didn't feel like working out so I talked myself into doing 10 min of the 3 different machines It made the time go a lot faster. I did get a really good strength workout in. Food was on point and really good with water. I am going to see a band tomorrow afternoon. I assumed it was at night when I accepted. I am not sure what is going on for dinner but I will just order the healthiest and eat until satisfied. I also will have no more than 3 drinks. Sunday I am meeting friends in North Jersey so I have about a 2 hour drive each way. Not sure what time but I plan to workout first. I am also going to eat the healthiest there. I won't have more than 1 drink because I have a long ride back and don't want to be tired. Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned. I will check in with you all tomorrow!

I will have to proofread this tomorrow and catch up with you all. I glanced and could see some very good things for some of you that are inspiring.
I have a heavy heart. Following my grandmother’s death on Sunday, her only remaining sister passed away on Monday. I have tears just saying this. My mother cried all the way on her five-hour drive to the new nursing home in North Bay where my sister lives. All week the cousins have been taking a trip down memory lane. We’ve lost five of our close family in less than four months. My grandmother’s sister, being much younger than her, has a son my age. We have such good memories and will miss them all so much.

It’s been a very intense fun week at work. Very productive. I manage 2 branches and 10 employees. Getting everything and everyone back on track. We’re getting there. It feels good to be back at work and making a difference.
