I had a great day yesterday, even though my calories were high, they were quality calories and the scale is down!!! I weighed in 3 days in a row since I couldn't get into community for a few days and they were all about the same. I dropped almost a pound. I did Liift 4 on Beachbody, 10 minutes on the elliptical, and pool fun (treading water, jogging in place, leg kicks).

I usually start out the month saying I want to lose 3 or 4 pounds. I try to keep it realistic. This month, I am setting weekly weight loss goals, and daily nutrition and exercise goals. July is going to be a great month, I can feel it.

@micki48 When I am working, I average well over 10,000 steps without trying. I think that it why I get down on my summer steps. And yes, I was also at my lowest in March. April saw a slight gain, but inches were lost. May was a push, and June was a gain. BUT, it's a new month (almost) and July is a great month to shed some pounds!!!!

Good Morning My fabulous fit friends...

I'm Vikki, I've been here since sept of last year I think, Might have been oct... Anyway, I have 3 children, all but one no longer live at home. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats and one husband... I live in Baltimore, MD and love outdoorsy stuff like kayaking ( we just bought them about 2 months ago) and canoeing and camping... Speaking of which we are camping this weekend, so I will need to weigh in on Thursday since I will be gone from then till Monday and we definitely don't have cell service where I am going this time ...

I have struggled with my weight since I hit my late 30s, but it's never been that big of a deal till I had to be put on meds for my blood pressure - so since sept I am down 26lbs, it's slow but I'm okay with that... I still have another 30ish I would like to lose - But will be happy with just another 15.. I think I have finally found my groove this time and it's mostly thanks to this wonderful group here.. The challenges, the daily check ins, the advice and just the camaraderie is something that has been very helpful in keeping me committed and motivated, and when I do fall off the wagon, I find that coming here daily helps me get back on that much quicker...

So I am not going to do the step challenge this month, simply because after the podiatrist this morning I seem to have Achilles Tendinitis, Plantar fascitis and Mortons Neuroma - So I have to limit my walking and wear stupid shoes ! I can continue to do my 2 miles in the morning ( only with shoes on though), or walk for up to an hour a day, but it's one or the other.. I have exercises I have to do 3 times a day for my tootsies also.. He said it was fairly mild and I should see some great improvement within 2-3 weeks if I do everything right, and then I can start increasing everything..

I did my blood work on friday, so I'm very excited to see if my cholesterol is reduced, it wasn't bad to begin with, but I am hoping it's down...

Okay have a great monday folks !

@Gidgetgoescrazy Good luck with your plantar fasciitis. I had a bout of it in 2013 after an ankle injury and it was no fun. I had good luck with physio and acupuncture. Still flares up occasionally but now I recognize it early and can get on stretching & exercises to keep it from becoming an issue.

Today I'm ok with the increase on the scale. Since we've been able to get back to the gym, the DOMS is legit. My arms hurt so bad you guys. So. Bad. DOMS = water weight, so I'll probably be stalled out a while until I recover/build strength again.

It's the good pain though, the "I worked hard for this" pain. So I'm more lol at how wimpy I feel than anything.

I'm hoping this holds and we can keep going to the gym, but I'm worried about the people I saw getting handsy with the equipment and not wiping it down after. :/

@Gidgitgoescrazy Wow! What a trifecta of foot issues. I will take you off the step challenge for this month. I have a Morton’s neuroma. That can be painful or just weird (it makes my toes spread apart. Lol). I hope you get some relief and are feeling good again soon. Good for you for getting your groove back so quickly.

@terytha Glad you are comfortable knowing that the scale is not our only measure of success. Congratulations on getting back to the gym and feeling that hurts so good pain that you know builds muscle.

@CanadianGiraffe You are so good at this I am confident you will get back in step and end this day feeing good. I believe in you. Heck, I’m inspired by you.

Today has been busy starting much earlier for me, back to being child care for Juliet. I already have about 6,900 steps and we’re only at the halfway point in the day. We have played in the yard, danced, sang, painted and made up a game with shuttlecocks and a box. Thank goodness she was exhausted and went down pretty easily for a nap. Love that sweetie.

I have done pretty well with measuring everything. It’s a lot of work. There were a couple things I forgot, but I was pretty sure about. All logged. On my 3rd “bucket” of water today. Hope to get a walk in this pm if it’s not too hot or after dinner. I did some basic Pilates exercises this morning before she came. I REALLY want July to show a loss every week.

My goal looking forward is to first get back to 188.5, which I was for a moment in March. Then to get to185.5 which was my lowest since I started MFP 6 or 7 years ago. So by the end of this summer be below that. It’s about 7 pounds. I should be able to do that but I know it will take some work. My losses have been s-l-o-w.

Hope you are all having great days. 🙂🤗

    Monday has flown by!
I had an early appointment with an ear specialist today, and then the day rolled on from there. Not good on exercise (rain is my excuse  ) but food has been spot on, measured, and feeling more in control than the past few days. I was very pleasantly surprised by one measurement - one of my fave snacks is an apple (granny smith or something nice and tart) cut into 12 sections and smeared lightly with sunflower butter. I always guessed I was using about a Tablespoon of the stuff, and logged it accordingly. Well, today I measured it and a Tablespoon was a LOT! Much more than I usually use. So I can be a little less careful when having that snack  Of course, other measurements are less exciting - it is good to do it for a few days every now and again for the reminder that a half cup of something delicious is precious little...

It is great to hear those first-of-the-month commitments and promise! It is always hard to keep the momentum going, so we're going to try to keep the challenges rolling this month. A change of focus can sometimes keep things interesting. Any suggestions are welcome!

We will miss you @unevano ! Feel free to drop in from time to time if you want to just say hi.

I'm going to try to use the exercise bike while watching an episode of something tonight. Haven't done that for a while, but I'm feeling quite sloggy after not exercising much today. It's humid, but the shower will just feel better afterwards, right?

And @micki48 - I will be on the step/exercise team again for sure! Some days it boots me in the butt to get going, and that is a good thing!

take care all - only one Tuesday weigh in! It is no longer our day off...
@CM_73 you're due for tomorrow if you're anywhere near a scale or a communication device. If not, late is OK

We have a new last-minute addition to the team! @Cerizez will be joining us for July and hopefully onward. Looking forward to hearing from her soon!

And one more thing. Then I'll shut up, promise! @eggfreak ? How are you doing on getting back on track? I started my dry July today, and I'm hoping you'll be here doing great and we can pester each other. Get yourself onto the habit tracker so we can see each other's progress! Anyone else who wants to use this is welcome as well.

Need to go finish logging my food and close out my diary. Where did the day go? I managed to take a walk and do a short pilates workout after my daughter and family left (after I cooked dinner for them all). My steps so far are pretty good for me --13, 466.

Wasn't quite as good measuring everything once my daughter was here.

Have a great night. See you tomorrow.

    July goal #1:
Eat what I planned for tomorrow. No extras, like those potato chips someone brought to work. Late night dinner without snacking has been hard. I've planned Ezekiel bread (orange) with a TJs cowboy veggie burger. Whew! I better do this! :#

I ate 1 medium potato chip, but everything else was kosher. :)

I'm off work tomorrow, so I hope to ride long so I can burn some food cals!

Not great. I have lost that special ingredient needed in my brain that's gotten me this far. I will find it again...I must... I do think it's stress and so many things going on just now, it's overwhelming. I thought you were in Canada Liselyn, not NZ or AU where yes, July has begun. ;) I'll enjoy one little mini bottle of champagne this evening and while I do, I'll thoughtfully fill out the habit tracker. A dry July is no problem but it will be a good motivation to get focused and back on track. Oh and, just in time for this week's challenge, my food scale battery died. Will pick up one two today, the food scale is definitely a factor in my loss so far. Not looking forward to my weigh in.
    Thanks for the prod. :)

Happy Tuesday, everyone - another humid cool one here, but that will make picking, blanching, freezing some of the excess veggies not too bad. It will be really humid in the house, but at least it isn't hot. Then I'll bake a polenta pie - my favourite way to use up lots and lots of swiss chard, and just about the only way I eat cheese any more. I love this recipe from the Moosewood cookbook. Any veg works, but I make a mixture of chard, onions, and anything else on hand. It's like healthy pizza. And the polenta crust has no gluten, so I get help eating it from my taller half, thank goodness!

It feels good to be back on track - you will like it too @eggfreak! Get that scale working again, and once you have a good day or two under your belt, hopefully that will be one less stress-inducing feeling flowing through your body. It gives a boost to hit the end of the day on plan, even if not perfect. Stress makes it a lot more difficult to avoid trigger foods and stuffing yourself to soothe the anxiety, but that just makes it worse, as we all know from experience. Throw in 30 seconds of deep breathing a few times a day, or whatever calming tiny practice you can do, into the habit tracker.

    Have a good one today!

    Four weigh-ins needed:

@gidgetgoescrazy I too am sidelined with a combo of plantar fasciitis & Achilles tendon aggravation. I haven't been to a Dr about it, but the signs are obvious. I haven't been walking or running for a few weeks. I'm doing some "light" biking - about 6-12 miles depending on my time. I mostly feel better, but every once in a while it hurts. I haven't been able to lace my shoes all the way because that drives my Achilles crazy!

I'd be interested to know what the Dr told you. I hope you get feeling better within several weeks!

Yeah mine is kinda sporatic, but what sent me was I got on the treadmill one day and my heels were on fire !

Anyway, so no incline on the treadmill, wear shoes when I do aerobics ( but that was more for the Mortons Nueroma) , he gave me a list of shoes, and a list of inserts that are good for these issues. And daily exercises, which are wrapping a towel around yours toes and pulling up and holding for 30 secs. Standing with your heel off a step, dropping your heels , hold for 30 secs. A standing calf stretch, 30 secs each foot, and crossing your leg and pulling your toes back , hold 30 sec... Supposed to do each 3 times, 3 times a day... You can find the exercises online I think they are just the 4 most common ones....

He said for the achillies, which is the one that bothers me the most, to put a lift in your shoe, until you've done the exercises for about a week, he said I didn't have to stop anything I was already doing, except no incline on the treadmill, and to wear shoes when doing aerobics... Oh and no flat shoes ever... lol

He said it should get better, but if it doesn't we can try shots and such...

Yes, I've done those stretches. The plantar seems gone for now, so I'm trying to rest the Achilles. I'm not a high heel wearer, but I'm a runner. And yes, Morton's nueroma. Years ago I went into my favorite running store, explained the issue, and the owner put pads under my insoles. Instant relief! I can't add photos to a post or message, but it's not a typical metatarsal pad.
