    Monday has flown by!
I had an early appointment with an ear specialist today, and then the day rolled on from there. Not good on exercise (rain is my excuse  ) but food has been spot on, measured, and feeling more in control than the past few days. I was very pleasantly surprised by one measurement - one of my fave snacks is an apple (granny smith or something nice and tart) cut into 12 sections and smeared lightly with sunflower butter. I always guessed I was using about a Tablespoon of the stuff, and logged it accordingly. Well, today I measured it and a Tablespoon was a LOT! Much more than I usually use. So I can be a little less careful when having that snack  Of course, other measurements are less exciting - it is good to do it for a few days every now and again for the reminder that a half cup of something delicious is precious little...

It is great to hear those first-of-the-month commitments and promise! It is always hard to keep the momentum going, so we're going to try to keep the challenges rolling this month. A change of focus can sometimes keep things interesting. Any suggestions are welcome!

We will miss you @unevano ! Feel free to drop in from time to time if you want to just say hi.

I'm going to try to use the exercise bike while watching an episode of something tonight. Haven't done that for a while, but I'm feeling quite sloggy after not exercising much today. It's humid, but the shower will just feel better afterwards, right?

And @micki48 - I will be on the step/exercise team again for sure! Some days it boots me in the butt to get going, and that is a good thing!

take care all - only one Tuesday weigh in! It is no longer our day off...
@CM_73 you're due for tomorrow if you're anywhere near a scale or a communication device. If not, late is OK

We have a new last-minute addition to the team! @Cerizez will be joining us for July and hopefully onward. Looking forward to hearing from her soon!

And one more thing. Then I'll shut up, promise! @eggfreak ? How are you doing on getting back on track? I started my dry July today, and I'm hoping you'll be here doing great and we can pester each other. Get yourself onto the habit tracker so we can see each other's progress! Anyone else who wants to use this is welcome as well.

Need to go finish logging my food and close out my diary. Where did the day go? I managed to take a walk and do a short pilates workout after my daughter and family left (after I cooked dinner for them all). My steps so far are pretty good for me --13, 466.

Wasn't quite as good measuring everything once my daughter was here.

Have a great night. See you tomorrow.

    July goal #1:
Eat what I planned for tomorrow. No extras, like those potato chips someone brought to work. Late night dinner without snacking has been hard. I've planned Ezekiel bread (orange) with a TJs cowboy veggie burger. Whew! I better do this! :#

I ate 1 medium potato chip, but everything else was kosher. :)

I'm off work tomorrow, so I hope to ride long so I can burn some food cals!

Not great. I have lost that special ingredient needed in my brain that's gotten me this far. I will find it again...I must... I do think it's stress and so many things going on just now, it's overwhelming. I thought you were in Canada Liselyn, not NZ or AU where yes, July has begun. ;) I'll enjoy one little mini bottle of champagne this evening and while I do, I'll thoughtfully fill out the habit tracker. A dry July is no problem but it will be a good motivation to get focused and back on track. Oh and, just in time for this week's challenge, my food scale battery died. Will pick up one two today, the food scale is definitely a factor in my loss so far. Not looking forward to my weigh in.
    Thanks for the prod. :)

Happy Tuesday, everyone - another humid cool one here, but that will make picking, blanching, freezing some of the excess veggies not too bad. It will be really humid in the house, but at least it isn't hot. Then I'll bake a polenta pie - my favourite way to use up lots and lots of swiss chard, and just about the only way I eat cheese any more. I love this recipe from the Moosewood cookbook. Any veg works, but I make a mixture of chard, onions, and anything else on hand. It's like healthy pizza. And the polenta crust has no gluten, so I get help eating it from my taller half, thank goodness!

It feels good to be back on track - you will like it too @eggfreak! Get that scale working again, and once you have a good day or two under your belt, hopefully that will be one less stress-inducing feeling flowing through your body. It gives a boost to hit the end of the day on plan, even if not perfect. Stress makes it a lot more difficult to avoid trigger foods and stuffing yourself to soothe the anxiety, but that just makes it worse, as we all know from experience. Throw in 30 seconds of deep breathing a few times a day, or whatever calming tiny practice you can do, into the habit tracker.

    Have a good one today!

    Four weigh-ins needed:

@gidgetgoescrazy I too am sidelined with a combo of plantar fasciitis & Achilles tendon aggravation. I haven't been to a Dr about it, but the signs are obvious. I haven't been walking or running for a few weeks. I'm doing some "light" biking - about 6-12 miles depending on my time. I mostly feel better, but every once in a while it hurts. I haven't been able to lace my shoes all the way because that drives my Achilles crazy!

I'd be interested to know what the Dr told you. I hope you get feeling better within several weeks!

Yeah mine is kinda sporatic, but what sent me was I got on the treadmill one day and my heels were on fire !

Anyway, so no incline on the treadmill, wear shoes when I do aerobics ( but that was more for the Mortons Nueroma) , he gave me a list of shoes, and a list of inserts that are good for these issues. And daily exercises, which are wrapping a towel around yours toes and pulling up and holding for 30 secs. Standing with your heel off a step, dropping your heels , hold for 30 secs. A standing calf stretch, 30 secs each foot, and crossing your leg and pulling your toes back , hold 30 sec... Supposed to do each 3 times, 3 times a day... You can find the exercises online I think they are just the 4 most common ones....

He said for the achillies, which is the one that bothers me the most, to put a lift in your shoe, until you've done the exercises for about a week, he said I didn't have to stop anything I was already doing, except no incline on the treadmill, and to wear shoes when doing aerobics... Oh and no flat shoes ever... lol

He said it should get better, but if it doesn't we can try shots and such...

We successfully completed plasma cutter training without maiming anyone or lighting anything on fire.

I'm scared of the sparks though. :(

Happy Tuesday! I was able to get a walk in early with a friend today and I have one scheduled for tomorrow too. I’m already at almost 9,000 steps and it’s early afternoon. So yay!

Yes, I've done those stretches. The plantar seems gone for now, so I'm trying to rest the Achilles. I'm not a high heel wearer, but I'm a runner. And yes, Morton's nueroma. Years ago I went into my favorite running store, explained the issue, and the owner put pads under my insoles. Instant relief! I can't add photos to a post or message, but it's not a typical metatarsal pad.
