Hi everyone! I'm so sorry to be MIA yet again. I hope everyone is safe and healthy during these crazy times. Welcome to any and all newcomers we have to the group. I'm Rhonda (@evangsimmons170) and I live in Texas. I'm 51, divorced and no kids, other than the 700+ students in the elementary school where I am an assistant principal. I'm currently working on my doctorate in educational leadership. After a much-needed 2 year hiatus from my studies, I resumed them on June 29th (this past Monday). I should have my doctorate by the end of next year, and I'm SO excited about that.
@micki48 Yes, you have had a great stepping week! I see you won the Workweek Challenge this week on Fitbit. Fair Warning: Don't get comfortable in the winner's circle. I've been getting my walk on this week too and plan to continue and increase it; I feel amazing afterwards. You keep me moving; I'll catch up with you soon enough. LOL. It's on next week! If any other Fitbit users want to join us in the challenges on Fitbit, please look me up on Fitbit. By the way, @micki48, please add me back into the step challenge for July. My steps for Sunday through Friday this week are listed below. I will post my steps for today later, as I'm not finished walking for the day yet.

@jugar I won't have access to a scale next Saturday. Can I do a one-time Friday weigh in please?
Had a pretty big set back in my mid-year resolutions: I threw my neck out badly this morning. Really bad. Worse than I can ever remember.
So instead of all the plans I had today, I laid still on the couch, cried a lot on my cat, took painkillers like they were going out of style and ate fast food. -_-
Next weekend I'm retreating. I'm going to a hotel that's offering rooms for basically free and I'm escaping reality for a couple days. Doing anything these days feels like swimming in glass shards. So I won't weigh myself and I won't be online and I won't talk to anyone and I'll be quiet and alone and in heaven for 2 nights.
Everything has sucked so much, I really need this reset time.6 -
@Terytha I'm so sorry you hurt your neck. I pray you feel better soon. I totally understand your need to get away next weekend. That's what I wanted to do this week but didn't. Sometimes a good reset helps us put things in proper perspective. Wishing you peace.
@micki48 my steps for Saturday were 8317.

Sunday weigh in:
PW: 180
CW: 180.6
Trying to be stoical about this - I knew when I started Heather Robertson's 12 week plan (starting Week 4 tomorrow) that I should expect to put on weight, although gain muscle and toning, and lose inches. This is true and this is what is happening. But I do wish the scales would move in the OTHER direction!
I'll be back later to report yesterday's steps.
Have a good Sunday, all!3 -

@YinxFed I can SO relate to your frustration. I also experience the weight gain during the first 3 weeks of a weight loss regimen. And I usually quit during week 3. But I am desperately trying to break that cycle this time. I'm starting my 3rd week of walking and I'm determined to win. We got this!2 -
The tallies are in and we did well this week! We are 3rd overall for losses, and I want also to give a special congratulations to @happimess01 who had the highest loss in our team by total number of pounds, even though by percentage there were 3 people higher. We always calculate the "winners" by % of body weight lost, rather than by pounds lost - if two different people lose 3 pounds and one of them went from 150 to 147 and the other went from 180 to 177, for example, it is the person starting at 150 who lost a higher percentage of their starting weight. But they still get to do a super happy dance for having lost 3 pounds!
All that to say, rock that tiara, @happimess01 !!!
Our top 3 by percentage are @CanadianGiraffe @CM_73 and @KellyBgetsfit - All of you get to enjoy the glory for a week well done! I want to see photos of you in that tiara, @CM_73 - it'll be fabulous :
As a team, 60% of us lost this week - even if the losses were small, that is a great percentage. Green people, feel proud! Let's stay on this roll, OK?5 -

The Green Challenge Percentage of people who lost weight this week. No matter how small the loss the weights are recorded in green. Remember slow and steady wins the race!3

Morning shout out to my Magic Bag. Its older than me, I stole it when I left home. It smells sorta like boiled broccoli and popcorn. And it really is magic.
I feel a lot better today. I can move at least. Sitting up is hard and I can't straighten my head, but I'm not in pain at all laying down.
One more day of heat and I should be in much better shape.2 -

@Terytha So sorry to hear about your neck but glad to hear you are now healing. Your restorative weekend plans sound lovely!
@evangsimmons170 Best wishes for your continuing studies. That takes a huge commitment!
I discovered that sometime last week I moved from "Obese" to "Overweight" on the BMI scale. And while I know it sounds a little incongruous to celebrate being overweight, somehow I know all of you will understand!4 -

@jugar
PW 245 lbs
CW 243.3 lbs

I had a pretty good week and nice movement on the scale. I'm not in much of a celebratory mood though, our dog passed away unexpectedly last night. I may not check in for a couple days, but I will keep logging. Not planning to look for comfort in food.6 -

Yippee!! Congratulations 🎊🎉🎈I totally get that and I know @terytha and most of us here do. What a great thing. I have 7 pounds to go to be overweight too. I’d like to be there by the end of the summer. 🙏🏼Like @jugar ‘s poster says. My results will be a direct correlation to what I put into it. 🤗3 -
Keeping what @jugar said in mind, I went back to my notebook, which I haven’t opened since mid May. Just filled in my exercise chart (thanks Fitbit!) So I slacked off a bit in May (two injuries) June was pretty good. I think there may have been a few more walks in there that might not have gotten registered. I had no exercise yesterday except toddler play. Too hot outside and lots of cooking.
So for the rest of July, I want every day filled in.4 -
Also I’m posting my steps. Now off to do the tally.2 -
@micki48 and @jugar can I please be back on the board for steps for July?
I have my work back to normal now so lots of steps during the day 🤭
Also when is the deadline to post steps for the week? I would prefer to post a photo as a proof, because I do quite a lot, but I don't mind posting my steps every night if that's easier?
01 July steps 16,020
02 July steps 20,032
Thank you Team ♥️
@ells_runs Hi! Sorry to be so late in getting back to you. Your steps are AWESOME!!! You may post the steps daily or with a photo at the end of our week. Please have the steps in by early Sunday. Thanks! Glad to have you stepping with us.1 -

Last one for now...promise.
Missing steps for the following people:
@Yinxf 7/2
@KellyBge all week
@ells_runs 7/2, 7/3
@jugar 7/4
Really great steps this week team.
All steppers: If you would be so kind, please let me know what YOUR daily goal is as well.1 -

@CanadianGiraffe Here's my story, and my intro for new July members.
I grew up the chubby kid. I was 5'6" by the 3rd grade, so I was always in the back of class pictures with JL who was the tallest boy. In high school I was 165-185. I got down to 155-165 in college by only eating meals at the cafeteria. I maxed at 209 in grad school when I was sitting all the time for work, school, & commuting.
I decided I would buy one gallon of fat free milk, a box of Raisin Bran Crunch, 14 Michelina frozen dinners for lunch & dinner, a box of individual coffeecakes for afternoon snack. I told myself that if I ate all the food, I would have to wait until the following week. It worked! I portioned out the cereal in 7 bags, and I ate my daily portion. It didn't take long for me to get back to the 180s. I think within a year I was about 145, and I got married at 135. We've been married 18 years, and many of them have been spent under 150. I noticed that a few years right before the holidays I gain about 5-10 pounds, like I'm getting ready to hibernate! Then I gain for the holidays because, well, I like food. I spend the first few months of the year trying to lose it.
I think my thinnest moment was 117, but then I ate. Ha ha! That's not sustainable for me because I enjoy food. If I can stay between 135-145, that's healthy to me. It's a bummer for me that because I've been overweight my whole life that losing weight just creates more skin. I think that looks worse than just being skinny, so low numbers are not a motivation any more.
I started 2020 at 163. I got down to 145 before Covid; but I visited family, and I started snacking again at night. I'm still struggling with turning off the snacking, but I've been doing better. Today I am 149.5.
I'm quite competitive, so challenges help me. But I need to not eat my exercise calories. I enjoy running, walking, & hiking. I also do indoor biking. I don't do the steps challenge because I probably get 12,000-18,000/day.4 -
