    I’m Leah. I just turned 26, and I have been in this group for about a year. Until I was sick last winter and the coronavirus hit, I had been in a better habit of going to the gym 2-3x per week to work out. When everything shut down, I did really well for almost three months walking at a greenway near my house. I slimmer down some and looked forward to my time outside. However, once I went back to work and started back grad classes, exercise fell to the bottom of the list. Then, the stress of finding a new place to live and moving added to my stress.

    I have a new reason to pursue a healthier lifestyle. I was diagnosed in late July as positive for the BRCA-1 mutation. When a BRCA gene is mutated, it may no longer be effective at repairing broken DNA and helping to prevent breast cancer. Because of this, people with a BRCA gene mutation are more likely to develop certain kinds of cancers, and more likely to develop cancer at a younger age.

    This mutation increases my cancer risk 5-10x for breast, ovarian, and pancreatic cancer, along with melanoma. I now, at this age, begin the journey to see a slew of doctors - something like a half dozen minimum - and need to change how I and exercise. Not just to combat my cancer risks but better my overall health - physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have been okay at focusing on one aspect of my health, but not myself as a whole. I want this month, with a new place to live and altered outlook of my life, be the start of embracing a new way of living, of expanding my horizons and working toward a better future for me.

    On Tuesday I did 19min workout with Hasfit YouTube https://youtu.be/4Uzk6f2GnO8 .
    I was too stiff to go out so I told my Aide rather than go out on 5 min walk out I'll do the supposedly 10 minute workout but it's actually longer but very proud because I did the whole workout with out stopping, may be ready for a longer one next week.

    Didn't eat all my meals cause was fasting before my 3pm appt so only had dinner.

    Had my Baraitric doctor's appointment yesterday, was shocked to see although I weigh in on Monday @514.4lbs (without shoes) knowing I didn't quite meet my 10lb goal for the month; I was just proud I didn't gain weight, but today I weigh in @513.2lbs (with shoes on, my doctors scale is usually 3lbs more than my home scale). So excited I met the goal set for this month.

    She didn't check A1c said it was too soon so fasted for no reason 😥 but something to look forward to next month along with my goal of another ten pounds by 10/19

    On another note my doctor was happy. She even wants me to bring in some of my (edible & tasty) Almond flour recipes next time😂😂

    Also I got discharge from @home Physical therapy since I'm doing so well and able to move about outside.

    Last but not least my BMI went down again from 88.1 to 86.7 plus my BP was normal for me 138/78 (1st time in 8 months)
