Iβd like to start up the old Weekly Roundtable Discussion. Tomorrow is a big food day for some of us and itβs nearly impossible to eat healthy! On top of that, Thanksgiving dinner can sometimes carry over to the weekend of leftover casseroles and pies. Itβs a real struggle for me personally and then of course my husband is making my favorite caramel cookie bars which he normally makes on Christmasπ€¦π»ββοΈ
Ill be realistic with myself. I know Iβm going to overeat and I know Iβm going to eat poorly. But here are my commitments to maintain some control: With every plate Measure each portion by using the palm of my hand and mentally take note. Then BEFORE I make another plate I will log it into MFP. Also I will drink a cup of water in between every drink.
What is everyoneβs commitment?2 -

Good morning, Team TBBT and a very Happy Thanksgiving to Christine, Brandi, Dorian, Sue, Erik, Shelly, Tami, Destiny, Krystal and Sandra!! (I think I got all of you....if I missed someone, please let me know!) Mel, Liz, goddess and I will hold down the fort while the rest of you indulge in turkey and dressing and pumpkin pie!!
While I was injured, eating at a deficit without extra calories from steps was not going to happen, so I just let myself have a break from the whole process and even from the social media aspect of this site. On the weekend, I decorated my house (still not quite done) and got 10,000 steps each day from just doing that (I have a lot of Christmas decorations!) Then, on Monday and Tuesday I went to work to get caught up on my filing that had been accumulating all month. The good news is, that my knee didn't feel any the worse for wear after those four days. There is still a tenderness, and a twinge every now and again, but for now, I can live with that and hope that it continues to improve over time. No purposeful exercise yet, but I could* definitely start to add in some upper body and core exercises. (*Not saying I will!) Since the weekend I have been logging my food, and with the extra calories from being able to move around, I have been at a deficit. The pre-weigh-in this morning has me down four pounds for the month, so needless to say, I am excited for Saturday morning!!
It seems like every single month since I came back in June, I start strong with one really good week, then something happens mentally, and I fall of the planet. I resurface at the end of the month, and the cycle repeats itself. That's why this month was so frustrating for me....I was on a roll and there was nothing in the foreseeable future that was going to change that mentally. So, this time the universe had to provide a physical injury instead! I am really hoping that December breaks that cycle!! I am not going to put pressure on myself to make the Winner's Circle in the MUAC, but if I can stay on top of life's responsibilities and continue to log my food and eat at a deficit, then it will be a successful month!! Thank you, once again, for being patient with me and for keeping a spot open for me on this great team!!6 -

I didnβt log anything! Even this Goal was too unrealistic with Thanksgiving folks always near making conversation it was too difficult. I am proud of myself however that every time I felt a little full I stopped eating, which was a small triumph for me.1 -

I started off Thanksgiving morning with a little turkey trot/walk to help offset the anticipated damage. I was up 445 calories for the day, but I feel like it could have been worse. I will try to cut back a little over the next few days.

Thoughts/Goals/Triggers ~ Today, I kept telling myself to keep going onto MFP and stay focused on getting back into the diet zone I was in. Today, my focus was to quickly get out of those scary caloric zones because the longer I stay down there the harder it will be for me to pick myself back up. Working out definitely helps! Today was a good day!

WEIGH-IN
Two weeks ago - 178.0 pounds
Today - 171.0 pounds.
Not really sure how that happened? I did not weigh myself last Saturday. I felt heavy, and I hadn't been eating well (I had consumed four whole bags of Doritos in the two weeks I was recuperating, among other things), and I didn't want to further damage my psyche. It was a snowy day, great for Christmas decorating, so I put my energies into having a good day, and then a good weekend, and then a good week. Logged and under since last Saturday. Maybe I wasn't as heavy as I felt after all? Maybe I was still around my weight from the previous week? And losing six pounds after getting back on the wagon isn't unheard of for me, either. Regardless, it gives me a great starting point for December and a goal of being in the 160's by year's end.3 -
