Water is not a problem here. I love water. Grew up with those 5 gallon jugs of Arrowhead water. Loved watching the air bubbles go up when you filled a big glass of water. No more big cooler in the kitchen but always a filtered water pitcher in the frig. I carry around a 22 oz canister that keeps the water cold even in a hot car. I usually get 88 oz of water in a day.3

You are never too late - catch up with some of the recent chat here, and you will be re-inspired, I hope! The vicious cycle repeats many times, but gradually the good parts of the cycle get longer and become the "normal". You can do this!2 -

Hooray it's Thursday and the end of my work week! Thirsty Thursday is an easy one for me. I love water and usually drink between 75-125 oz a day. I occasionally drink bubly water. I do drink a lot of coffee which I think dehydrated you? Not sure if that's true. I drink 3 cups in the morning and 1 or 2 cups in the evening.
Today was okay food wise. I had my normal prepped lunch. My husband surprised me with takeout from the Thai restaurant 😍 I did okay on portions but I couldn't resist a second egg roll. I'm in my calories but not the best choices. No workout tonight because it's my rest day. I like to workout on my weekends. I'm getting my new boots tomorrow! My current boots don't have enough support for long walks so I ordered some more supportive ones. Can't wait to do some walking and have warm, dry happy feet!6 -

Fitness Friday!!
I walk. When I walk I try to do 5 miles. My biggest battle with walking is cold weather. It is coming and I am a whinny exerciser!! I hate the cold. I rejoined the gym yesterday and did the elliptical. Whoa it was much harder, and it didn't count all my steps. Told ya I'm whinny!! I really feel that if exercise is so good for us why is it so hard to do???? I mean I don't forget to eat or breath. hahaha Okay enough of that! I walk.3 -
Ugh it’s that time again... the good, the bad and the ugly right? Welp here it is, the UGLY, the BAD. You can always count on me to bring it to ya 🤣.. last week even though I didn’t post my weight I did weigh myself and I was at 164.4 Whic is up 3 lbs from where I was the prior week here.. DAMN YOU THANKSGIVING, YOU WIN AGAIN!!! Because over the past week I have continued to eat my left overs and indulge in the sweets that didn’t get eaten... I can say at this point there isn’t a single thing left from thanksgiving and if there is it’s no good soooo from this point on, this lady is going to put in 💯.... ok soooo the big reveal y’all have been waiting for...............

@SMcFall0215 you've got this! The leftovers and temptations are in the past and all steam ahead in the next week's. You will bounce back.
Fitness Friday, well, I wish I did more. I don't actively seek out exercise yet as the home renos keep me lifting and running around randomly but luckily my job tends to involve a lot of walking so I get to burn some calories there. I AM lucky to get to play hockey once a week (wish it was more often, but that's what Covid restrictions and my budget will allow). It burns 400-600 calories per event depending on how many spare players we have on the bench. It is my happy place. I love team sports because you have comrades to suffer alongside with. That's why I've always enjoyed Bootcamp workout sessions and I think why this group means so much to me. I need to feel surrounded by a team so that we can all share the glory of successes and the pain of failures and setbacks together. The burden is always lighter when you can share it with others, that's why the venting that we all need on our frustrations can actually be a positive experience for the team.
Love you guys! Keep drinking that water..... And don't hit the Done button!3 -
Fitness Friday - I'm a walker too, lately I've been trying to increase my heart rate and run a little bit, then walk, then run ...when I look at the details in my fitbit later, the extra effort seems to help. Walking in the evening, I include knee lifts and back kicks and try to loosen up my shoulders and arms - and no one to see me doing the funny walk. Otherwise, I get a fair bit of incidental exercise (there is always a project around here) and in some past month someone posted about deliberate inefficiency and I'm good at that, always forgetting why I went from one room to the next or looking for my damn glasses!
@CurvyCalorie the cold and walking: I'm with you, it is hard to force yourself out, but so often I find that after a 1/4 mile I'm warmed up and so happy I got myself out there. The evenings are fun now because people have all sorts of lights up - so pretty.
Mild day today and heavy rain/snow coming this weekend - will try to get out this afternoon and raise that heartrate.
The cookies (230 cal each!) that have foiled me the last few days are going on a paper plate today and going to the guys at the dump (transfer station)!!4 -
Happy Friday !
I did yoga yesterday, if felt really good, except puppy pose, but apparently those are the areas I need to stretch... The hubby did it with me, and I discovered he had been doing a half lift wrong, so I was able to help him with that... I told him when we are 80/85 and he drops something, he was gonna have to pick it up himself, so he needs to keep up on his flexibility...
I did not work out this morning, It felt good to sleep in, but I will do it once I get home from work and my interview...
My food was good yesterday, I was right on point, and the scale is being my friend today, even though I am not officially weighing in this month, I am still keeping track of it.. I just don't feel that focusing on my weight this month is in my mental healths best interest... So I am going to focus only on how I feel, and right now I feel good...
Fitness Friday - What exercises do you do? How is it going? Do you see an improvement in what you are able to do? What stands in your way? What tricks help you stick with it?
So I do Leslie Sansone Videos, Yoga, Hiit and strength training. I am also dabbling in walk/jogging, and speed walking, but those aren't very often.. I am not a fan of the gym, so I don't go there. I do have a treadmill and a rowing machine at home, along with lots of weights, and I recently got a thingy that you use with resistance bands, it connects to a door, and creates a kinda trx system, Haven't used it much... I like to have a video, or app to follow along with, thats why I am such a fan of the Down Dog Yoga and Hiit apps, I can mirror it to my TV and it's custom set to what I want to do, and the length of time.. I am not very creative to do routines without verbal cues, I tried it on paper once, and it just wasn't keeping me focused.. I have an app that I can create, my own timed cues, but then I need something to look at to know what I'm supposed to do .. My husband suggested just making my own video, and then I could change it when I wanted to add or take something away, so I might just do that...
Do I see an improvement, absofreakinlutely, I am stronger, I have a shape, and I just feel good...
What stands in my way, not much if I am interested and like what I'm doing.. I think my biggest problem is I don't increase when needed, so I am increasing my weights every 6 weeks, and I am adding new stuff, and adjusting to my spine and now knee issues.
What tricks help me stick with it..
I adjust, If I wanted to sleep in, I make the time to do it in the afternoon, I plan my exercise one week at a time, and If I miss something I make it up, you have to give yourself some leeway, but make a plan, Mine is often to go on 3 walks , and strength 3 times, and yoga 2 times... Sure I've gotten to a sunday, and had to do strength, yoga and a walk all in that day , cause I slacked off during the week, but if feels really good to accomplish the goal, and it kinda becomes addicting... I use a planner, and I give myself stickers, the planner sits on my nightstand, and everyday I check off what I did , and make any adjustments for the following days, I get a sticker for days I complete my goal.. It's kinda funny cause sometimes the week, looks like a bunch of scribbles because life happened, and I had to adjust... I don't always complete it, but it's life, and as long as you keep trying and don't give up, you will be successful...
Also when you want to start something new, start with 10 minutes, then increase it 5 minutes a week until you are where you want to be, thats what I do, and am currently doing with the hiit.. it's also how I refocus when I slacked off a little to long, we can do anything for 10 minutes !
I know I rambled..
Hope you have a great Friday !5 -
Friday Weigh-in

Happy Friday everyone.
Fitness wise, I am not doing anything but walking and some light dumbbells to try to help my flabby arms. I have tried a few dance aerobic videos which I like okay but I never seem to keep up. Im not graceful.
At some point I think I'll join the gym, but not right now with covid numbers so so high.
I have been concerned about what I'll do as it gets colder and I am unable to walk outside. I walk enough at work that I don't typically walk after/before, but I need something to get me moving on my days off once it gets too cold/snowy.2 -

That said, be sure to report how many minutes you did on the elliptical! I can convert those into step numbers that will be WAY better than just the steps themselves. So pause your step counter and just post how many minutes and how intense (low, like walking - medium, like jogging - intense, like really sweating and panting). I'll convert those minutes into steps and it will be added to your "normal" steps. You'll like the numbers3 -

That looks like so much fun! Way more fun than striding away in a noisy gym. Sadly, I live on a gravel road, have miles to go before getting to anything paved, and then there are hopelessly few really nice smooth ones. Guess I'll have to stick to my snowshoes (PLEASE SNOW!!), hiking boots, and indoor options.2 -
After reading some of these cold weather posts makes me really appreciate living in Southern California. Cold for me is when it drops into the low 50s. No excuse here for not walking.
We rescued a Golden Retriever about a month back. She is a year old and walking we go and go and go. Also DH purchase a Stealth Board last month. Makes doing planks fun. Who would of thought. Highly recommend. Our family has had a lot of fun competing against each other. https://www.stealthbodyfitness.com/shop if you want to check it out.3 -
It is so good having everyone post about their exercise, and even about the lack of it. Hoping everyone gets inspired!
I was terrible about exercise for years, and finally made one simple rule. NO shower unless I earned it by doing some exercise intense enough to break a sweat. Even if it was only 10 minutes, I had to earn that shower. I told my colleagues at work that if I was looking grubby and in need of a good shower to send me immediately to the gym. At home, I also added that I could not start cooking dinner if I had not completed my exercise for the day. My hungry family kept after me on that one, especially after a couple of late dinners. They were mean. Making your kids mean to you is very effective For my showers, I had an imaginary shower bouncer who would not let me in if I had not exercised. He was also really mean. And big. And strong.
Once that initial period of making a habit started working, I started to like it. Then when I stopped working full time, I added a lot more outdoor exercise. Walking is kind of a given, and we have paths through our acres of woods that are always beautiful. Snowshoeing all winter is my absolute favourite thing and I'm probably the only person here who is super sad when winter ends. Snow is late this year, so I'm getting grumpy. The hardest thing for me to keep up are strength workouts. I'm great with Pilates, which has given me the core of my dreams but I have slacked off a lot on weights/kettlebells/TRX which were the core of my exercise routine for a long time. I'm finding that age does take off some of the enthusiasm for really hard work. Ugh. I need the muscles as much as ever, and they will help me avoid osteoporosis and other nasty things. And I love to be strong - it keeps the pains away, and feels great. So that is what I am working on now. New strength routines that I'll actually keep doing.7 -
@jugar I love your imaginary shower bouncer 😂😂3

How did it get to be Friday already? Good grief. I enjoyed the suggestions for the days having a theme although, at the moment, I don't recall what it is for today. It's better that I enter a few things now, though, and then I can get caught up on the rest of the 84+ entries I've yet to read.
I helped a friend get to her surgery the other morning which meant I got up at 3:30 a.m. in order to leave by 4:20 to get to her house by 5:00. I figured if we left by 5:30, all would be well. She decided to drive her car to the dealership en route to the hospital so, we ended up being a bit late but, I actually found it easy to let it go. It wasn't my fault so, what the heck? I was able to keep my caloreis in check pretty easily, which was good, since I didn't get all of my steps in.
I did a lot of cooking today in order to put the on-sale-chicken breasts in the freezer for later meals. It feels good to be in the kitchen while the rest of the household is away. I find myself wanting to take a nap but then not, because I can do whatever I want while it's so quiet!
I'm working on a project to send to mom. I'd hoped to mail it yesterday but, tomorrow will have to suffice.
Off to make tea. Have a good afternoon, everyone!5 -
@micki48
I've been sick as a dog all week, but thankfully tested negative for covid! I don't know where I left off with my steps for this week, so here's what I have up until yesterday:
