@jugar Wow, he sounds like a remarkable horse. I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like you and your daughter both had such a close bond with him and that he was very "in tune" with people. It must be so hard to lose him - just like losing a member of the family really - and so suddenly too Our bonds with animals can be so special can't they?
Bless you, I don't think anyone would be expecting you to be having good food days at the minute... sharing food and drink can be a comfort at times like this and bring family together. Enjoy what you can and what brings you comfort right now!
Hope you are ok and looking after yourself however you can xx1 -
I had a weird day yesterday. I DID get to the gym, but I felt rubbish (hormonal/ PMS/ early pregnancy... me and partner are trying to conceive so I'm in that dreaded two week wait where period is due and I have no idea what my symptoms are!)
Anyway I ended up staying only a poxy 20 minutes at the gym, but was determined to have some kind of exercise so I drove on to the local park and had a good, fast walk outdoors. Blew away the cobwebs anyway!
I also love "dog watching" in the park! I can't have a dog myself due to allergies which have plagued me since I was a child - but I do love them sooo much. So dog watching is one of my hobbies. Yesderday it was just what I needed.... usually I love my workouts in the gym but for some reason I just needed to be outdoors, and it did me the world of good. There are so many dogs in that park of all shapes, sizes and colours
I was proud of myself for attempting the gym and actually going even though I felt awful... but also glad I didn't force myself when it became very evident that I was NOT in the right place for it!4 -
Happy Wednesday everyone!3

The last time it was this high was September, a week, after I went back to in person learning. Working from home isn't working well for my weighloss. No steps. Lots of stress. And the kitchen is right there. I can't get on earing schedule. I snack too much. I dont eat meals, I just snack. Then, I don't want to log because its so much to log. But, clearly I have to log. I have tried writing out an eating schedule, just like when I am at school, but I don't follow it.
@jugar I am so sorry about the horse. What a tragic thing to happen. But, what a loverly story about how your daughter fell in love with horses. What an amazing experience for a 16 year old.
@conleywoods I love planners and gratitude journals. I use Happy Planners because I have a punch can add sheets to them. My sticker collection is ridiculous (huge) yet I rarely use the stickers anymore. I have a work planner, a personal planner, a goals planner (for my side hustle), and a budget planner. I just got a new gratitude journal from Amazon (not a Happy Planner) that I can't wait to use.

Happy Wednesday !
Yesterday was a very good day, I checked all my boxes and stayed well within calories...
@jugar So sorry about your horse, that just SUCKS, plain and simple...
I'm really enjoying my hiit app... and I think the hubby and I figured out a strength training program for me, that hits everything.. Now I just need December to be over so I can be more disciplined.. But I also don't want it to end, because I want my son to come home, and spend time with me, lol, it's so much...
Interview went well, and I know she called my references, (they told me). I think this job will be a change, but I liked the people I would be working with, and it seems like it would be a great fit.. So fingers crossed, I should find out by the end of the week, if I made the final cut, to meet with the owner... I am trying not to get my hopes up, but it's hard, lol...
Have a great day !

@jugar my condolences as well. His spirit was mighty though your time together was too short. A love that strong is the hardest to lose.
@Gidgitgoescrazy glad the interview went well! Fingers crossed for making the final cut. I'm glad you found a strength routine that will work for you! Good job
@KellyBgetsfit you will find a balance, I'm facing the same thing. I worked from home yesterday and snacked way more cause it was within reach so by the time dinner came, I had barely enough calories left. It was an eye opener. My hubby has just moved his home office to a location in the house where getting to the kitchen is a pain in the butt so he stays away except on actual set break times. Maybe take a walk after lunch to get more steps and help ease cravings. You'll get there!
You know how when you hit the 'complete' button on your daily log it gives you the pop up saying something like 'if every day was like today, in 5 weeks you would weigh XXX.X Lbs'? Well 5 weeks ago it predicted that if I stayed on track, today I should weigh 210 or less and at the time, I absolutely couldn't believe it, so I saved a note in my calendar. Lo and behold, today I weighed in at just over 210. Grain of salt, I'm using a new scale so that could account for a bit of it, but wow, the algorithms they have programmed into this app are pretty accurate!
Enjoy the rest of your Hump day WaistAways!6 -

It’s possible someone already addressed this - you can go to Zoom on your mobile phone, too. Get the app and it’ll walk you through it. Hope to see you soon!1 -
I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss @jugar
My weigh-in is no change this week (still 230), I think I've gotten more control in my weight coming off of the holiday season (and going into another ugh!). Trying to work through being unmotivated to workout, I'm still sticking to 3-4 workouts per week but it has definitely been harder to find the motivation.4 -
Thank you all for your kind words - it always helps when others know what you are feeling.
One fun Jack Jack story - I was working with an actor who had an audition coming up for the Canadian production of War Horse. He was auditioning to be one of the horse puppeteers, and had never actually been around horses before. I brought him to meet Jack Jack. We showed the actor some fun and interesting ways to play with a horse, and they spent a few hours together, hanging out and goofing around. He observed all the ways the horse can move, and spent the next day feeling how it would be to reproduce them as puppeteer. He got one of the most important parts - as the head of both Joey and Topthorn - and he publicly thanked our horse for teaching him how it was done. We have a program autographed by the full cast. It was fascinating watching how he "translated" the movements into his own body and then into the life-sized puppet.
I'll get back on track today. A long trek in the snow is called for. Keep well, everyone! Pull on those reserves of "do it whether you feel like it or not" and you'll feel proud.8 -
@jugar - what an amazing horse. So sorry for your loss.
@Gidgitgoescrazy Best of luck on getting the job. Good sign when they call the references.

Was wanting a bigger loss but the weekend was my down fall. I have got to figure out how to stay on track during the weekends. The trend is currently sloped up but that will change soon.4 -
@jugar - I am so, so sorry to hear about your 4-legged friend! I absolutely love horses, and I hope I can own my own one day. Heartbreaking.
I missed Talk it Out Tuesday as I am having a super busy week. My apartment had NO HEAT on Monday and it was so uncomfortable. Luckily, it was fixed (somewhat) around 5pm that day so I didn't freeze overnight. Feels good in here now but I cannot stop sneezing now and my eyes are watering. Could the cold temps have given ME a cold? Ugh. What timing.
Today is my crazy day for workouts - did a live instagram workout at noon (sweaty one!!), I'll take my lunch break walk soon, my firm instituted a 5:30pm Zumba class each Wednesday (I'll do 45 min), and then my friend's virtual yoga sculpt class at 6:15. Ahhh!!
Feeling pretty good today. Definitely shed some bloat the last few days. Still finding the weekends to be frustrating. Eyes on the prize!4 -
@jugar that is heartbreaking. I can't imagine what you are going through. My condolences.1

From right now I decided to send some daily report here since it seems I m giving up qradually. even following the thread and reading f2f has been so hard for me. For the past two weeks I didn't excercise and occasionally didn't log my food. Today for the first time from October I broke the no sugar rule, and this was a serious alarm for me. I have lots of work&life related stress recently, but I know this is not a good excuse. so from tommorow I will report my daily performance here, till I get back to the track.3

I am so glad to see this, Masoumeh. Holding yourself to a simple accountability task like posting your daily ✔️ and ❌ is a big help to making weight loss and fitness work for you. Do not be at all ashamed to have some ❌s! They happen, and just seeing them there in your message will help your determination to have it back to ✔️ the next day. Feel free to copy the little checks and exes if you want to - lots of people use them to make a brief report on their main daily goals. I look forward to seeing how you do. Oddly enough, the daily reporting can reduce stress. You are honest about your day, you connect with others trying to do the same, and it feels good. I wish you well!4 -
Thank you all again for your wishes. I am still feeling a bit shocked, but a long walk in the snowy forest today helped clear out some of the heaviness.
Update on the Zoom meeting for Friday! Try out this link and password to see if it works for you. You should end up at a message saying that the meeting is scheduled for 12/12/20 at 3 pm (Eastern). If that works for you, then just do that again on Saturday and it should be fine. If not - Sylvia @eggfreak should be able to help out to make sure everyone can get on. She is our zuruLINK: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83564168532?pwd=RWlHcTNJeXZ6alZXSkx5dlFLcEppUT09
Password: Fat2Fit or just the meeting number 9681307 (Sylvia can explain about that if needed)
Hopefully that will work fine and as many of us as possible will have a good chin wag on Saturday.
Can't wait to hear if you got the new job @Gidgitgoescrazy - rooting for you!!!6 -
@jugar i did it today. I turned off my steps while exercising. I did the treadmill for 55 minutes burned 523 calories
Plus my steps being 4,320
Thank youuuuuuu5 -
@jugar you're crazying up my days, ha ha! Today is Wednesday (right? am I nuts?)...Team Waistaways Zoom will be on Saturday 3pm Eastern Standard time. I promise to post the link again Saturday morning so nobody has to try and track back through the thread. Like Liselyn says if you want to click on it in the meantime to see how it works, it won't hurt, will just bring you to the date & time of meeting. I will reconfirm the password on Saturday also.
My eating is much better when it's my week in the office - brought all my lunches and snacks for the week since nobody is really using the breakroom fridge. When I got home I sampled some liver pate I'd made but stuck to just a sample and went for a walk then strung some lights. We'll see what the scale reads tomorrow. I don't mind if it's even and would be surprised if there isn't a little gain. Now to bed before I reach for a snack.5 -
@jugar so sorry to hear about your loss. Our pets become a part of the family and it's terrible when we have to say goodbye. You and your daughter are in my thoughts.1

Hi all!! Got a lot of steps on today with a nice walk. Not much cardio though. I come to realize I’m really not doing much to lose weight and so I’m not. I am maintaining, more or less, and looking for motivation to really have a workout, but I just don’t want to. I am getting steps and walks. But I’m not fighting with myself. I’m listening. I’ll get there, but I’m honoring what I’m feeling (or not).
Really looking forward to our zoom meet up on Saturday.4 -

Today was a good day 😌 Checked all the boxes and I am doing better at getting fresh food on the menu 😋. I am really making an effort to stay in my calories and not eat my exercise calories. Worked out today for an hour while each of my 3 children took turns coming in and talking my ear off. They then let me know I was 9 minutes late to put them to bed! Ha! Do any of you do elf on the shelf with your kids? I think they're in a hurry to get to bed and see what the elves have done the next morning. Hopefully my scale will be down tomorrow. I hope so because I feel like my effort has been good.8

@jugar - so sorry to read about your horse. What a lovely connection you all shared with him. ❤️ ♥️ 💜
@Gidgitgoescrazy - good luck with the job!
I am going to make it to the Zoom call as well it will be nice to see everyone “in person”!4 -
@conleywoods We have had our elf “Criddle” for the last few years and he has been into a lot of mischief...
My kids (now 11 & 12) love him. Just last Christmas they figured out that he had a little help from me. Now this year they take turns hiding him each night and trying to find him in the morning. I’m happy that I don’t have to dream up new tricks every day and they still enjoy the “magic”.5 -
@conleywoods I don't really "get" elf on the shelf (don't have kids though) but if it gets kids to want to go to bed I'm beginning to see the appeal for parents haha!
Not much to report today really. Another day of working (from home) supporting young adults over the phone with getting into education/ employment... this will become more of an issue post-pandemic I think, so I think I'll be extra busy over the next year or so.
Yesterday I baked a delicious ginger cake for my partner and friends.. I had one small piece but I was pretty good with resisting! Didn't get to the gym but had a walk. All fairly average right now, but not much to complain about either5 -

I love the elf’s!! My kids are 11 and 12 as well and no longer believe. However we are building a home so we’re staying with family until it’s done. They have a 6 year old daughter who does still believe, so my kids do different things with the elf every night and now us parents don’t have to worry about it 🤣 they are “wall climbing” this morning

Yesterday wasn't good, I snacked, ya see I made Chex mix over the weekend... I thought I could show some self control, I can not ! I thought about fasting today and tomorrow or cutting calories way back, but thats just silly... I will just do better...
I did get up and exercise this morning, and plan on doing some walks today... and my food is planned, so cross your fingers for a successful day !
I don't even need to be successful in losing weight, I just want to be successful in not gaining any ! lol
I am not going to be available for the zoom on Saturday, I have am going to visit a friend, so I won't be around.. But definitely next time...7
