I've never been a cola fan, I'm afraid, of any variety.

As a child, any kind of Cola was an extreme rarity in our household. Once I was on my own, I grew accustomed to drinking it with meals, mostly. When I was a young child my dad was a Borden’s milk delivery man and we got all of their products at a steep discount, so milk or iced tea were the beverages we drank most of the time. As an adult, I’m not fond of either although I do drink milk for breakfast most mornings. I typically only drink iced tea if Diet Coke isn’t available. I’ve never been a coffee drinker, and never will be. I truly dislike the smell of coffee, though I’ve had to learn to tolerate it since DH loves his morning coffee.

I grew up drinking milk although I had Coke with snacks or if I ate out. DH despised milk since he was a small child. His mom let him drink coffee diluted with half milk since he was a kid. He’s a big coffee drinker but he’ll drink tea hot or cold. He’ll drink root beer on occasion but doesn’t normally drink soda. Once I got married, I stopped drinking milk unless I had cereal.

I grew up with ice water. We always had a pitcher of iced water on the table. I can still remember visiting a friend and staying for dinner and being shocked when they served cola. My mom would have been appalled. LOL!

My cardiologist nixed caffeine and I do miss regular coffee. I still do make decaf.

    Shortages? Again? Really?

I assume a shortage of toilet paper also means other paper goods.

There is also a shortage of numerous varieties of cat food including some our guys eat. Indy turned her nose up this morning at a substitute. So off scouring the internet I went. Found some variety packs that include her favorite. The colonies will get the other flavors, I guess.

Interesting your cardiologist says no to caffeine. DH’s cardiologist say that was okay but he has to watch sodium. When he was doing cardiac exercise rehab, they had a series of classes that family could attend. They cover heart procedures, nutrition, exercise and other topics. Most time, I was the only non patient in the classes. I was amazed that more families didn’t come to help their loved one make a better recovery. Maybe some were still working. I was retired so I had the time to come. One of my friend’s husband was doing the same classes. She never went to a single class even though she was retired.

I think couples approach such things differently. We have always led very separate lives (which is probably why DH retiring is driving me nuts LOL!). The first appointment with the hand doctor after my wrist surgery the nurse invited DH back to the exam room and we were honestly a little flummoxed. We're not used to that. I also think I sort of shocked the gastroenterologist when I made a tiny stink about HIPAA privacy - he just sort of assumed DH's inclusion in everything. (Or maybe it's just because of what I do for a living that I was surprised he'd be so lax.)

Great line: Watching Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) debate science with Fauci during committee hearings is like watching Albert Einstein being disputed by his dry cleaner.

    Another great line:

I keep coming back to the fact that it takes two to make a locker room.

I keep coming back to the detail in CNN’s report that this wasn’t something Matt Gaetz did a single time, but repeatedly. Because if it happened more than once — if it happened twice, even — that is because the first time went better than it should have.

I usually go to DH’s doctor’s appointments with him because he doesn’t always remember the instructions he gets. Plus he forgets to give the doctor important facts. And I ask more questions. He went alone when I was working but he didn’t have as many specialists then. So I like to go with him. I haven’t been to some recent visits because Covid rules say the patient has to come alone. I prefer to go to my appointments alone. But if I needed support, he’d come with me.

I had a streak of about 370 days checking into this site. Suddenly, yesterday, my counter is set back to day 1. I hadn’t missed a day so that’s so annoying. It’s happened before but I think this was the longest streak I had going.

Something weird here this morning. I both love and hate computers. I've been trying to schedule doctor appointments now that I'm vaccinated and their web sites are driving me crazy! I did finally use one that works, to schedule a bone density test at Hopkins, and it just validated to me that websites CAN work when there's a brain programming them.

Then this morning I opened my email to find a LONG form to fill out for my dental appointment today. All sorts of stuff that they already have and some that's none of their business. They even ask for a social security number which I would never type in online (luckily their form didn't recognize 111-11-1111 as fake LOL!)

I think my dental office told me they have to have patient forms updated every year. That’s probably why you were asked to do a new form. You could probably print a copy and fill it out the old fashioned way by hand. I’m sure some of their patients don’t even own a computer.

It just drives me nuts that the entire world assumes computer usage but puts no brains into what they spew out there and expect to be used. Wasting my time is the ultimate sin. That was drilled into me in my first job in this business and it stuck. LOL!

For unknown reasons we frequently see "NRCC" on our caller ID.

I just saw on one CNN commentator's twitter feed that this is currently on their home page (I did NOT go check).

I saw on the news that Trump and the RC had duped mall donors into recurring donations. People had to uncheck a box to just make a single donation. At one point they’re automatically taking weekly donations leading to bounced checks ad unpaid bills for those duped. I guess there is nothing too low for this group to perpetrate on uniformed supporters. I had a call on my cell today about Medicare verification. I hung up. I think it was a scam. Plus I don’t give out my cell number.

I’ve been without cable and internet for the past 2 days. It was a long 2 days, lol! A backhoe operator cut a major trunk line and put 2000 customers out of service, but they finally got it repaired sometime during the night.

That’s so annoying. I go into withdrawal if I’m offline for an extended time unless it was my choice. Glad to see you back Pam. You were missed but I thought you were just busy. Now that you can see some friends again, have they mentioned missing your spectacular cakes?

    Oh, how awful! 2,000 households?

DH asked (facetiously I'm sure) whether this is true:

2000 customers were affected, mostly residential. It was annoying for us, but for people who work from home or kids doing remote schooling, it was beyond annoying and frustrating, not to mention costly.

I think my friends have missed the cakes, but more than anything, we have missed being able to socialize the way we used to in each other’s homes. Hopefully we can begin to do that soon. Right now, several are out of town or will be soon, catching up on seeing family members they haven’t been able to see much of over the last year.

Are all of your friends vaccinated? I hope they’ve been lucky enough to get appointments. I’m at my sister’s house right now. She, BIL, and DH all are fully vaccinated. I get my second one next week. She’s having a tough time going through cancer treatments. I drove her to get a cat scan and pet scan Wednesday while DH and BIL are doing some home repairs here. I’m glad to be able to spend time with them but wish the circumstances were better.

Had my first hair appointment in over a year today. New salon. I'm pleased. I went into my profile here and changed my photo but it didn't change it on this message board. Hmmmm.... Anyway...

Maryanne, you look great! It’s so nice to try a new salon and like the result. I’m getting a haircut tomorrow and I think I’m going to go quite a lot shorter than I’ve worn it in a long time. I’ll have to see how I like it. I usually hate short hair, so I’m aiming for something just above my shoulders. Currently, my hair is about 6 inches below my shoulders.

Helene, it’s nice that you are able to spend some time with your sister and help out with the home improvements and getting her to her appointments. It’s not the best of circumstances to be together, but I’m sure your visit is providing a nice respite and distraction from all of their usual stressors.

All of my friends and most of my family members have been fully vaccinated now. We are going down to Houston on Thursday to see DH’s family, most of whom we have not seen in more than a year. The young kids and our nephew have not been vaccinated yet, but the rest have been.

We’re planning to stop in SC on the way home to visit my brother and sister. I haven’t seen them in a year. We usually visit twice a year coming and going home from FL. They’re all fully vaccinated and I get my second shot next week.

We really need a word for the day that's 2 weeks after the second shot.
