@PlaneMonkey you were right, it must have been the spaghetti. I was down 1.2 pounds this morning. I didn't know ti took longer to digest, I thought it was just water retirement the carbs. Good to know!

@jugar I must have typed it wrong last week! I was 152.8 not 154.8.

In addition to being down on the scale, I am pleased that I didn't self sabotage my diet yesterday because I was mad at the scale. Also, today is my second day on in person learning and my second day of getting up for my 5am workout.

I just got home from a long walk with a friend. Its so nice to be outside and in good company. I should make it a point to do this more often!!

    @conleywoods re: snacking.
When I want a snack I go through these 3 questions...
    1. Am I being influenced by whatever I am doing (TV) or who I am with...
    2. Consider if what I need is actually in this drawer - or am I bored, lonely, sad, whatever...
    3. Reconsider whether I am actually hungry and

There are a few things that I do to stay away from snacking all day. Have a good size portion (that may be small for chocolate or large for celery), snack on healthier options, no snacks near the TV or computer (such a bad combination for me).

This has worked for me to stop snacking late at night and rummaging thru the drawers due to boredom.

UGH, wrote out this long post, and hit the wrong button !

So... Yesterday was good, I had no sugar, was within my calories, BUT I had a cucumber after dinner for a snack... But hey atleast it was just a cucumber, I coulda done so much worse...

I didn't do yoga, when I got home, my balance board, and new fitbit had arrived, so I played with them... I got the Sense, I bought it for myself for Christmas, but the 1st one got lost... Then my son had a mental breakdown, I think this whole working from home, not being able to be social is starting to stress him out, so I talked with him for a long time, and he played on the balance board while we chatted, and he said that it somehow helped, I said it's because you are concentrating on keeping your balance instead of all the other stuff, so he put it in his office, so he could use it while he works... So I'm hoping when his Peloton Bike comes in 2 weeks, he will use that on a regular basis , and it will help get the endorphins moving to push the negative thoughts out...

I did 20 minutes of aerobics this morning, that felt good.. it's going to be a nice sunny semi warm day here, so I will take a couple of walks, since I have to work late again because we have a person coming in for an interview at 5, and I normally get off at 4...

@Jugar Happy belated Birthday ! Also, I bought the book "Born to Run" :) I'll let ya know if it works !

My husband laughs at me every time I buy books, doesn't understand why I buy 3 books a week, but it takes me 2 weeks to read one, I told him buying books, and reading books, are 2 totally different hobbies ! :)

Hope you have a wonderful day !

@conleywoods yes, the suggestion of looking for other ways to track progress aside from just the scale is where I am going next. I ordered a body measuring tape so I can start to track inches.

I'll take it - my eating was terrible for 2 days, I changed all my goals as a result of being irritated with my last week's weigh-in after being really good. I've upped my calorie intake a bit and will see if that does anything (metabolism?).

@MandiSaysHey I've been doing the plateau thing since August 20 when I first hit 146, since then it's been a dance with the same few pounds, up and down...it is frustrating, here I am, 5 months later, same weight. I am still happy about it but wanted to push a little further down. I'm walking a lot and will see how the eating goes. It's definitely not all about the number on the scale but I've never gotten into taking measurements.

@eggfreak and @MandiSaysHey, I think measurements and progress photos are so great, cause like @KellyBgetsfit showed us in her photo, the same weight can appear in lots of different shapes. I wish I had taken starting measurements back in August when I joined. The only measurements I really have is that I've dropped 2 jeans sizes and I'm almost down one more.
I'm beginning to plateau a bit now and my effort to stay in calorie goals isn't staying as strong, but I've been shovelling so much snow, that it's probably the equivalent of some serious weight lifting. I'm using that as my reasoning for that extra piece of bread I had with dinner tonight....
I thought that since the snow today was light and fluffy that I'd only claim exercise credit for half of the time out there since it should be easier than over the weekend when we had wet, soggy, heavy snow but nope, I was so wrong! The fluffy stuff doesn't stick to anything so when you toss it up on the top of the pile, MOST of it slides right back down to your feet! I probably shoveled double because of it!

@conleywoods I've never been much of a snacker, my kryptonite is leftovers from dinner. I won't put them away before nibbling more than I should. Whenever I think I'm hungry and it isn't meal time, I try to make myself drink water first. Apparently our brain can confuse thirst signals for hunger so that's my go-to to avoid the extra snacking calories. I've been stocking up on flavoured zero-calorie water enhancers too. I definitely drink more when it tastes like iced tea or fruit punch than I do when it's just water.

@Gidgitgoescrazy I hope that interview went well. It was for your replacement, right? (I can't scroll back and confirm what you wrote, sorry!)

There are some errors on the step chart for last week - some of the cells ended up as zero. But the team total is working fine - not sure what the problem there was.

Sometimes I put in a formula "=sum(number, number)" so that the steps and the exercise equivalents both are there, and they automatically get added up. A couple of those were deleted or something. I'll fix them back again (thank goodness for edit history!), but it will change the totals :frowning: sorry!!!!

@eggfreak and anyone else feeling stuck in a plateau - in addition to the usual checking of your intake and making sure to adjust as needed to keep losing as you get lighter, it also helps a lot to build strength. If you do some weights or other muscle building work 3x per week, and keep increasing gradually as you get stronger, you burn more calories even when you're sitting around. Even though aerobic exercise burns a lot more calories while you're doing it, lifting weights or other strength work has a bigger effect on your resting metabolism. Which feels really cool. Sitting on the couch burning more calories? Yeah!

I totally overdid it on the snowshoes today. But it was worth it - I just couldn't stop. The trails were so beautiful today, and I did ALL the crazy hills, and then just wandered around to enjoy the day. I think I'll sleep well tonight!

Here comes Friday! Heads up, Friday people:

@conleywoods You are beautiful ! The progress really shows !

Had a good day yesterday, gonna be hard work today staying on plan today, I am only working 3 hours, then I have errands to run, so I don't want to get stuck in the "lets just eat out" mentality... I need to come up with a plan, like every time I make the choice to eat at home vs eating out, I get to put a marble in a jar, and at the end of the month, I exchange the marbles for cash... LOL - I should get my husband to be the one who pays me, he pays when we eat out, and I buy the groceries, so in reality it's saving him money.. LOL

So the weekend is the hardest time for me to stay on track, and I know it is for several of us, so I challenge you all to have a perfect weekend ( 85% or better is perfect in my eyes)...

    We can do this !!!!!

Oh and the interview went well, we hired her ! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day...

Friday steps 10,415 plus 30 minutes of beginner kickboxing.

Almost didnt quite make it to 10k steps because I got off work early today, but my son needed some new pants so I ran into a store to take advantage of having somewhere indoors to get some steps in and getting him something he needed anyway lol.

I hope everyone has had a good Friday, or are still having one. I really went a bit wild on my "free day" today. I proceeded with total disregard for wise food shopping, and then continued with eating what I bought. I got good exercise, but enjoyed way too many baked bready things. They are now either gone or in the freezer!

Woke up at 4am today, with my light still on, contacts still in, and the computer open to my left. Sheesh.

I also overdid it with my workouts on Wednesday, as I seem to have pulled or strained something in my left quad/hamstring. I'm going to take it easy today and stretch/foam roll. And definitely be more on top of my food choices.
I hope you are feeling better and will get a good night tonight! Waking up at 4 with your contacts still in, etc. is not fun. You need a few good clean, quiet days to get past that one. Foam rolling should help a lot, and a recovery day or 2 are always in order when you have overdone it. Take an epsom salt bath too, if you can. Good luck!

I can't believe we'll be heading into the last week of January very soon. Take a look at your habit tracker, journal, or memory and think about what needs tweaking. Where do you need some help or inspiration? What works?
