Hi all
I'm Katie, 32 living in the UK with my husband and our cats. I've been overweight for over 10 years now and despite losing quite a lot on WW 4 years ago, I've put it all back on as I'm an emotional eater. This is my first month doing MFP so I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes.
I've just posted on the tracking thread that I'm aiming for at least 30 minutes of activity per day. If I aimed higher I think I'd lose heart, but this is achievable and will start a habit I can build on.
My other focus is tracking, which I'm not new to, having done WW, but I need to do it religiously and honestly. Between being mindful of what I'm eating, and making sure I get off my backside after work, the weight should come off easily to begin with.
Welcome Katie! We have several other members in the UK, so you are not alone in your time zone. Feel free to weigh in by pounds, kg, stones - whatever is easy for you - but I will be recording all weights in pounds. I'm in Canada where we still use both pounds and kilograms, so the calculations are on speed dial. We really are supposed to be all metric, but inches and pounds die hard, it seems. Miles and yards are long gone, though!
Your goal to work out 30 minutes is a great one. Be sure to vary it well, and do things that help keep that smile on your face. I have a couple of videos I always go to when I am feeling like it is all useless, why bother, meh, grumble, grumble, yawn. They are 30 minutes, hilarious, and a really good workout that sends me to my shower with a huge grin and a sigh of relief. Keep a couple of those in your back pocket! If you want to share mood emergency video suggestions, let's do it!3 -

My name is Ana (aka fuschiabolero) and I live in the Dallas, Texas area with my husband and son. I am excited about joining this group and I have had similar journeys as others with WW as well as the gain/lose of the same 20 pounds for the last few years. I am currently at 182 but my highest weight was over 220. I am a pretty healthy eater but stress management and consistent exercise are my main struggles. I am setting goals that help me disconnect from work and align with self care. My husband and I will be empty nesters this year which is both exciting and sad for me. My two kids have been my world for so long that this new phase of life can be intimidating for me. My daughter is a junior in college now so I have had some preparation for what is to come this summer.
I am ready to be a cheerleader for my waistaway teammates and I know I will need to lean on this group for support. My goals for January are-
*Track daily on MFP
*Meal Planning for work week
*Workout 5X a week for 45-60minutes each day
*Dive into my love for crafting 2X a week
2021 be a great year!
Hi Ana! Your goals are also good - just as long as you're not going from zero to that many workouts per week in one go! Never be afraid to start with even 10 minutes per day, and then hold yourself to doing it like crazy glue. Empty nesting is quite a challenge at first, but hopefully they won't be far away and they'll be calling mama really often. Welcome aboard! We can be your kids at their brattiest when you're missing them2 -

@jugar glad you got out on your snowshoes - a good start to the year. Love the summary of December.
Despite wanting to leave the baked goods behind I found time yesterday to make an Olive Oil Cake from Bon Appetit - cut the sugar in half but still quite high calories for a slice - had a yummy slice this afternoon and now I'm just back from a huge march around town and through the woods and that burned the cake calories and then some. whew! But now, I've got to knuckle down and prep for the week. It's my week to be in the office and that will be a huge help not to be around temptation.2 -
Hello, friends! I am Kelly. I am a wife, mother of 4, and Kindergarten teacher I have been in the group for 1 year. My weight hasn't really changed, but I dropped a pant size. I will try ro post progress photos this week. The scale says I need to lose 25 pounds, but I honestly think I will be happy with 15 since I am fairly muscular, so I decided to make the my 2021 goal. Once I reach that, I will decide if I want to lose more.
My goals for this week
1. Workout
2. Walk 5 days
3. Log everything3 -
Yay, Team!! Second place overall. Way to go to our top three @CurvyCalorie, @happimess01, and @MandiSaysHey. I'm not surprised. You all have been doing such a great job.
I have completed two days of pilates (@jugar about 11 mins each).
My food has been on target and I am LOGGING EVERYTHING!! Yay! It's been a cloudy start to 2021, but I did see the sun for a bit and it made me so happy. Today is my first born's 33 birthday. We facetimed, but hopefully in two days with a negative covid test, we will celebrate and hug and open Christmas presents and eat our Christmas dinner.
Hope you are all making good choices. They are choices. I didn't want to exercise, but I chose it anyway.7 -

I'll put in your pilates minutes - assuming they are for the last 2 days of the December week 5? I'll also go back and check that I have not forgotten anyone's exercise minutes. Last week got really crazy - we had a captain with covid, so I was logging weights for her team, and all the new people... I'll catch up now!1 -

Happy Day 3 of the year.
I'm glad to be on my weight loss journey with you all. I live in Vermont with my spouse and adult daughter (plus 3 cats). I'm an unemployed massage therapist and stopped attending college classes in October to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant because so much of that work world is unpredictable; there's no guarantee that I'll be able to land a job in this field because I'm so close to retirement age; and won't have enough time to pay the high education loans back before complete retirement. In many ways, I've felt adrift in several areas of my life, including weight loss. I *used to* say that there isn't an emotional condition on the planet that can't be solved by food...however, I've learned over the last few years that food has only one true purpose...to supply us with the fuel to live our lives.
I will use the tools of Recovery in my relationship with food and as for guidance as I go. I also decided to get outside/exercise indoors a minimum of 30 minutes 4 times per week.
Next week, I'll add something to this plan. Let's see how we all do. Keep going and let's leave nobody behind.
Have a great week, y'all!5 -

Great job step and exercise team!! Don't forget to let @micki48 know if you want to join in the fun this month. You can do just steps, and you can also count other exercise. Biking, aerobics, HIIT, dance - you name it, we can convert it to a step equivalent. Just report the number of minutes and how intense (easy, moderate, or high intensity is close enough), and it will be added to your regular step count. If you don't count steps and just want to count exercise, that works too! For example, one minute of Yoga or Pilates is equivalent to 100 steps; moderately intense aerobic exercise (bike, elliptical, rowing, etc.) is around 150; high intensity goes all the way up to 200. If you run as part of your stepping, or snowshoe like I do, that adds a supplement to the number of steps your tracker records. However you want to do it, we find a way!
OK! A few reminders.

Hello,
Here we are on Sunday night the last day of vacation...sigh. Today I prepped all of my lunches and breakfast for the work week. I planned ahead to make sure I'm balancing those macros and getting more protein. I made breakfast and lunch more low carb so when I get home I have room for all the yummy carbs that I like. I won't have so much pressure to get a bunch of protein in the evenings either.
I also planned out my workout schedule. I have it worked out so when my daughter and mother in law come over for ballet it doesn't conflict with any sporting events so we can get the living room 😉. All workouts will be planned around Gonzaga basketball ha! Weight lifting is easy to squeeze in since it's just me!
We only had one ballet barre so my husband helped me and my daughter build 2 more out of pvc pipes and fittings. They aren't as wide so we can use them at the same time in my room too. We painted them metallic rose gold and they look pretty fancy and they work great too.
Today I did 35 minutes of ballet. I went for a 40 minute walk too. It was finally sunny today. We took our gingerbread houses outside and set them up for the deer in the field. We spread apples out and set up a camera. We have a doe and her twin fawns around. I'm sure the doe has run across our gingerbread houses but this will ba a first for the fawns. Hopefully we will get some funny pictures.7 -

Weigh In Day: Monday
PW (Previous Weight): 196lb
CW (Current Weight): 195lb
I'd put my starting weight as 200lb, but when I weighed myself on the 1st I was 196lb. Either way, I'm happy with a loss.
First day back at work today - which is working from home at my desk. Did not get up early enough to exercise before work (not been sleeping well for a few nights) but it's important for me to move after I've been stuck on my backside all day so this evening will be fine. Unless I specifically go for a walk/work out at lunch time, I don't count movement during the day because it's so limited. I've been so busy these past 10 months that I haven't felt I can take an extended break to walk at lunch time - something to change in 2021 methinks.5 -
I’ll start the Monday’s weigh in’s. Good luck everyone! 😊😊
164.0 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’m so excited!6 -
Happy Monday! I am back to work today. I alreqdy missed my morning workout. 🤦♀️ Thankfully, I am working from home and can squeeze it into my lunch hour. If I am being honest, I fell hard the last 3 days. I have tried to find balance. On New Years Eve, I had a salad and one small slice of pizza. And half a cookie. I don't think I balanced as well as I thought because the scale is up 1.6 pounds from Wed. I set my intentions to do better yesterday, but I failed at that, too. I am going to try again today.
⭐I will get up from desk every hour and walk up and down the stairs.
⭐I will workout at lunch.
⭐I will go for a walk.
⭐ I will eat planned food and avoid the kitchen at all other times.
@micki48 I would like to rejoin the step challenge this month. I am actually disappointed in myself because I think December was the only month I didn't participate in last year.4 -
@KellyBgetsfit You got this!! 💪🏼1

@CurvyCalorie Keri, You are killing it ! Good Job...
@KellyBgetsfit I am with you, It's so hard to get back into the swing of things, I am having the same issue, I keep sneaking stupid chocolates... We can do this !
@MandiSaysHey Love the new profile pic, You are so pretty !
This morning was good even for the 1st Monday of the new year ! I did my Hiit, although I changed it this morning, I did 20 min, but I changed the exercise part to 60 seconds, and kept the rest at 15... ( It was 40/15) WHEW.. who knew 20 seconds could make it that much harder, but it did... Then I did my 20 min Leslie video... and now I am at work, with my breakfast and lunch prepped, and my dinner is planned...
I slept really good last night, I've slept good the past 3 nights, I'm pretty sure the Holidays stress me out, because starting about the 23rd, My RHR went way up and stayed there, and now it's back down... I don't know exactly why, but I think it has something to do with my perfectionist personality, and always worrying something will go wrong, or not be good enough, or my social anxiety, or one of my other many issues LOL but it's gone now, so I'm good now .....
Hope you have a great Monday !

@micki48 I will still be doing steps this month, but my new daily goal is 12,000. (Forgot to log for last week yesterday, whoops!)
@Gidgitgoescrazy and @MandiSaysHey loving the new profile pics!! (Maybe I should change mine up...)
Yesterday was once again not a great eating day for me, although the scale was quite forgiving this morning. I also haven't done a real workout besides walking & yoga in the new year yet. Better change that today. Cmon, motivation - where are you.2 -
@Gidgitgoescrazy and @Kali225 thank you both! ❤❤3

Weigh-in reminder second dose! I am still hoping a couple of our new folks arrive soon to get started, and returning people make sure they made it to 2021!

Hi everyone. A few things before I weigh in tomorrow.
Its official. I have Covid. It feels like a bad cold that has ripped away my energy. So I'm taking this week off from exercising. Which is bad because I really wanted to get into a new exercise rhythm.
The good thing is that I am keeping up with my one pop a day! But thats because I'm running out of pop at home.
I probably wont be on here much over the next few days. I will keep up with the discussion though.11 -

Great loss and love the new profile photo. You too @Gidgitgoescrazy. Love that crown.
@sarkrisd So sorry to hear of your positive Covid19 test. My son in law just had it. He is doing much better now. Sending you good vibes for healing.2 -
Took a 36 minute walk today. About 3.5 miles an hour. Everything is logged. I keep eating to few calories, then feel bad. I need to balance my calories better across the day. I also need more protein. Work to do.
Got my “making you think it’s a heart attack” pain back in my shoulder blade. 😕. Talked to my doctor. She thinks it’s muscular/skeletal. I’m fine when I walk so she’s right I’m sure. My brain needs to cut it out. She told me about a really cool app to self assess and get exercises to help. They really did. It’s called JointStrong. If you have pain, check it out. It’s free.2 -
Back to work today. Felt determined. Got my goal met today. Steps for yesterday 12,124. Steps for today 12,118.6

That is such a drag - I am sure we are all rooting for you to recover quickly. But we also hope you run out of pop and discover all kinds of other lovely things to drink that are better for you! You'll get to start your new exercise routine soon - get well soon!3
