Chris - High calorie day here too today. Have our own little superbowl party. Appetizers for dinner. We are usually over at our neighbors.

Just baked raspberry bars (a shortbread raspberry wonder), cheese steak spring rolls, pizza bites, wings, Stromboli.

Hoping to fast until then...let's see! Enjoy!

Karen - we are in charge of dessert...Tillamook ice cream X2...Fat Boys ice cream sandwiches...and, some how, a huge bag of peppermint appeared in the cupboard...and nuts w/golden raisins and dried cranberries appeared in a plastic container...and fudge bars and lemon loaf. Then there is the Mexican food for dinner...Egads!!! o:)

Sooo...I want to report that I hit 143.2 this morning at 6:00 a.m. Tomorrow will be different, for sure.

We have two squares for the Super Bowl. I'll let you know. :D

    Love you guys.

Tonight I pulled out a Weight Watchers cookbook. It all looked so yummy. When I woke up this morning my large tank was way to cold. The power strip was not working correctly. Ordered a new one. This is not the "ususal" power strip we use for lots of things around the home. This one is very complicated and cost $160 plus tax. I hooked everything up to alternate supple sources that I could and cross fingers. I might lose my Algae Scrubber but that should be it. Water is moving, skimmer working again and heater back on. Should be good for a few days.

OMG, Shelley, so beautiful, the coral, right? Cuz the clown fish are gorgeous too. Is that an anemone they are swimming in or another kind of coral.

It's amazing the colors that live underwater. Fish and birds are so striking! Puts us land-lubbers to shame.

    Thanks!

I got my vaccination today. Five hours round trip, but so grateful to get it. The people administering the shots had all volunteered. There were probably a hundred people working. Everyone is working so hard to end this!

    Thank you all,

Paula so excited for you. I did not realize what a weight it was to be worrying about catching it until I had the vaccine. Like a weight lifted! I am very fortunate it was less than 30 minutes to get mine. Got there early, and in and out. And yes, that is George, the anemone. Lots of zoanthids, mushrooms and palys in that photo. I love just watching them. The larger clown is Jillibean. She has a clutch right now and is rather protective of her little brood.

Kathy - Keep us up to date.

Paula - Good going. Long trip. When is your second dose?

Just got home from getting my shot...lots of gray hairs in line. Didn't take too long. I'm so grateful to everyone working their behinds off for us. I told each one who processed/shot/watched over me they were GREAT and THANK YOU!!! Arm is okay for now. Next shot is March 10th.

    Have a great Mondya!

    Hey Chris,

Congratulations on your vaccine. My next one is in 3 weeks. I thanked everyone too. They probably get a lot of that. Although a lot of the people kinda seemed out of it, the rest of us were fairly exuberant. Lots of smiles all around.

I had a little alarm this morning when over my shoulder I saw a brown mark on my arm. I googled vaccine reactions and it said, if the redness or tenderness increased to call the doctor. I was wondering who to call. But then I took a better look in the mirror. Turned out it was the bandaid. Oops...

Paula - Glad it was a false alarm ;) Hope you continue to feel OK with the vaccine.

I feel like I am getting a little cold/allergy thing. I've been a sneezing fool LOL. Hoping that is it, but not stressing. I've self diagnosed about 5x over the past year ;)

More snow coming....a little each day. Looking forward to it. Especially since there is nowhere to go ;)

For those who do IF....have you ever done an extended fast? My longest is 25 hours. Was thinking of trying a 36. I've been playing with the same few points for a month+ now (I say that knowing j can tighten the eating and drink less too.) Was curious where people are with that.

I'm with you guys. I'm walking 5 days a week at least 4 miles. If I don't get 4 mile w/DH then I'll go off by myself for the rest of my miles. I'm working w/my trainer 3 time a week 60 mins each workout session. I am doing IF ...wish I'd written down when I started doing it but...I didn't.

    Highest weight ever: 192.2 (08/18/05)

I was eating at 6:00 p.m. every day...changed that to 4:00 p.m. last week. I like that better. My stomach likes it better. I haven't tried to go longer than that. I'm doing okay with it. I was down in the 142's but then...dun...dun...dun...Super Bowl happened and we were invited to S, P, & R's for a party. It was so good!! Time to work off the salt and sugar.

Paula you goof. Take that band-aid off now. Sheesh, some peoples kids. Muahahaha

So in our group there are now 3 of us who have gotten at least the first vaccine. At this point I am praying that Kathy (via her parents) get one ASAP. The only reason I received mine is because of where I work. Otherwise I would be way down in priority. Our judges have not been given theirs. Accept one who qualified by age.

I really hope Rocky can get one soon also. With his asthma I do worry about him.

Karen I have not really ever fasted. Not intentionally anyway. I have skipped breakfast lots. Just didn't feel like it. Or got up and jumped right into something and didn't think about it until late. 36 hours sounds like a lot of time to go without. Maybe I should just work up to it. Cut out evening snacks and skip breakfast. Thoughts?

Thanks Chris. They truly are little characters. They never have forgiven me for cleaning out their nests years ago. I love watching them laying their eggs. It will be a sad day when they are no longer with me. I have a really chubby starfish in another tank. I am thinking of moving it.

You might want to look into the effects of long term fasting and if/when your body to go into starvation mode.

I did half-day IF's only eating lunch and dinner and that was okay. Right now I'm completely opposite: having 5-6 very small lo-carb meals throughout the day and that works too.

I fasted a whole week when I was in my 20's, just water. It completely killed the desire to eat and I lost a lot of weight. But when my energy stores were depleted, I started turning into a zombie (the slow-moving kind) and it was time to eat again.

Going back to normal included old habits and the weight came back. If I'd known about keto, I might have been able to use the fast to switch into fat-burning mode and keep the weight off, don't know. (I used bariatric surgery to lose the weight and keto keeps it off, so maybe...)
When I stopped fasting, it felt like cheating or splurging to eat again. There was a war fought to get there. Part of me wanted to be skinny and felt so at ease, guilt-free and happy without that demon screaming "Eat" all the time. The other side of the coin was that fasting was ultimately deadly and I needed to know when to draw the line. Logic declared that time had come.

A lot of thought went into my "first meal" and stuffed cabbage sounded healthy: savory & vegetably & meaty & "Yum!" In retrospect soup would've been better. A shut-down digestive system does not like fiber.

Thanks ladies for your comments about IF.

I've been reading about bioindividuality and how truly each of our bodies marches to a different drum with food.

Paula - I tried keto for a year and lost nothing (I was persistent lol!) Guess it wasn't the right drum lol ;)

I've been doing IF for almost 2 years now. I did 16-8 for a year and started 20-4 when COVID hit in March of 2020. (Isn't sad that we were attach the year to COVID ;( Doing OMAD (mine includes either a small snack before dinner, or one after to get enough calories in with having has weigh loss surgery. ) I liked it a lot....I'm flexible. If I'm truly hungry (and I can tell much better now), I close my window and eat. I lost 30lbs of my regain doing this and am super happy.

Here I find myself at those last 10 lbs--ish (I'm think155-160 may be where I should land.) I'm not so set on the scale....I want to ve a size 8 pant comfortably. I have a lot of excess stomach and leg skin (should have married a plastic surgeon.) I do see the fat loss and body recomposition for sure from IF. Have been healthy, sleeping better ect.

Just wondering if I need to change it up, or tighten it up to get these last 10 pounds off....or my size 8s looser. I've watched some people on line swear by throwing an extended fast in to the mix, so curious if anyone has tried it.

So much trial and error right? Lol....keep up the great work ladies. One of the quotes from my favorite IF author "tweak it till you make it."

I don't mind skipping breakfast. Don't really miss it. I still eat breakfast type meals, just later if I want. I have had a couple of really good days this week so far. Tomorrow will be a cheat meal for lunch. Doing lunch at work. So I will skip breakfast to use those calories at lunch time.

I had to work on my algae skimmer last night. Darn glue kept failing me. When that happened the suction cups came loose. So I used a drill and some small zip ties to remedy it. I drilled 3 of the holes very slowly and carefully and attached the ties after each one. Then Rocky came by and flipped a switch on the drill. Apparently it works so much better when going in the other direction! :D

Shelley, You're cracking me up 'cuz it reminds me of doing the same thing. I couldn't understand why it took so long; examined the drill to see if something was wrong; and whada-ya-know, there's a "forward/reverse switch". Hah! :D:D:D

But now we're pros, right? Pretty cool that you know how to fix your equipment.

Now that is a nice drill Paula. I already knew, just to lazy to check! :D I used one of those staple guns when putting in insulation. You guessed, had it turned around the wrong way and put one of those buggers in my palm! I am so glad we both know how to use them now. ;)

Chris you have to be able to stand by and direct Patrick. He can't work without a supervisor. :p

Karen if you only seen us in action! B)

Getting closer to working up the courage to drill my tank. And then last night I read where Aqueon has substituted glass that is tempered in some of its tanks that formally were not. You cannot drill tempered tanks. They explode! So I have to figure out what type of glass is in mine. Drives me batty!

Hi ladies. Haven’t been on much because I was dealing with a family crisis. My mom was hospitalized for 4 days with very elevated BO. Her doctor made a change to her meds that her body did not respond to very well. At one point it was 269/120. They finally got it under control so she was released last evening.

Now I’m dealing with my Dad’s health. He had a MRI two weeks ago and 5 new lesions were discovered. It is a recurrence of liver cancer that he battled 3 years ago. He starts treatment Tuesday and we’re very hopeful of a positive result again. This stress definitely played a role in Mom’s crisis.

Now for some good news we all have an appointment fir the Covid vaccine. I was able to get them this morning online at our local Publix pharmacy.

I’m trying to stay positive and exercise helps so I will continue to work out as much as I can. We have pretreatment labs and a Covid test before my dads treatment. Trying to keep my energy up.

You ladies are my sounding boards so I feel I can tell you anything and get positive vibes back. I will keep you up to date as we move forward.

    Thank you my sisters!
