Kathy that is wonderful news on the vaccines. When is your appointments? But your moms BO was off the charts. So glad you are there for her. When my mom was in the hospital only one visitor, and if I left I could not return per day. This due to the COVID. Did you have a similar issue? That would be hard for you with your father also needing you. I wish you all the very best. Keep your chin up sis.
Rocky was on a standby list for his vaccine at the VA's. They called him really early and he rushed in and got his. It was so cold, negative teens, this morning. Someone's vehicle would not start so Rocky got their vaccine.

Shelley, so glad for Rocky!!

Chris while I am glad he got it and it didn't get wasted I hope the person who didn't can soon.
It never got out of the negative degrees today. What I wouldn't do for some sun shine and a good book.

Shelley I was not able to be at the hospital with my mother. Absolutely no visitors allowed. So difficult because I’ve always stayed with mom whenever she’s been hospitalized. Again Covid has made this so difficult. I was lucky that her nurse could see how distraught I was so she always returned my calls and gave me an update.
My parents vaccines are both on Sunday and mine is on the following Wednesday. Our second dosage is already scheduled 30 days out...thank goodness.
Took dad for his Covid test yesterday. One of the hospitals has converted an old Sears auto repair into a testing site. It’s very well organized. You drive through the bays just as if you’re bringing your car for repair.😊
So much going on and I’m exhausted. Going to try to get a little rest today. I don’t think I have to drive anywhere on Saturday. Very cold and rainy in Georgia.

Kathy, I hope your mom is doing better. Sending her good thoughts and well wishes. Cool that the hospital converted the old Sears auto repair shops to a test site!! Did your dad get the results right away? Hope you got some rest today.
We had some fierce wind today, so it blew all the clouds away...Shelley, I got your sunshine and a good book!!!

Kathy it is such a shame when family cannot visit daily in hospital. I am glad the nurse was so helpful. But it is a horrible second compared to being able to actually be there physically.
Wow, from not knowing to getting them tomorrow for your parents and you on Wednesday. Your family and Rocky all within a few days! Remember to reach up high after you get it. Helps to keep from stiffening up and pain. I don't understand why you could not all get them tomorrow.
The county tests volunteers every week. My friend Angie gets tested. And Rocky has to fill out a questionnaire on side effects from the vaccine. I did not. Interesting.
It is very cold here. Setting record lows.
Chris I only got the good book. I did go see my daughters new electric bike. I hope it enables her to have the freedom she is hoping for. It looks like an old time motorcycle! So kewl.

Kathy - You have so much going on. Hoping you got some rest and are doing self care. Glad for your Mom and can't image the renovated drive through center....creative! One of the very toughest things with COVID is not having the ability to be there with loved ones. Thinking of you!
They have a standby list on my area too...can't imagine having to throw away this liquid gold vaccine. I am hearing and seeing Facebook posts with more and more people getting it.
Mom got the call for her end dose...she will get on the 20th thank goodness 🙏. So far my sister, SIL and Mom in our family have the vaccines....

Felt really low energy and out of it yesterday. Friday we had 5 hours of jackhammering in our basement as a crew installed a 2nd sump pump, and the other part of a French drain (now the whole basement has one.) They still have to tie the pipe to the outdoor French drain we just got to take water away from the house. But getting closer to ( we hope) solving these water issues. I want to put it to the test with the heavy spring rains we get.
So the crew was here for 5 hours yesterday also and are done for a few weeks until the snow melts. I did get to the chiropractor which I desperately needed for my lower back. Took Mom for some early shopping during Sr. Hours and then cleaned and laundry.
Watched the impeachment trial which didn't help my mood. I can't get the image our of my head of the Capitol police who's lives were in such danger. Never should have happened, and sad 10x over. So won't plug into any more of that today!
I am making parmesan crusted salmon for dinner. And bought French macarons from a local person who makes them. Hopefully something a little special.
Ice storm today (boo....) and they say maybe tomorrow. I hope not...we were planning to go a big mall in the area and walk 10K steps as a family...let's see.
Have a good Sunday!

Kathy & Shelley,
Hope you are staying warm!

Happy Valentine's Day, my friends!!
Today has been a very fall off the wagon day!! That's all I'm going to say!
Love you all! I hope everyone is doing okay.
Chris0 -
Hard to stay warm. Yesterday we broke a record. Negative 45 with the wind chill. Just a bit nippy!
Shelley0 -
I hope everyone had a good V Day. I spent the day with Ron. It was nice and much needed. Friday my new Granite countertops, sink and faucet were installed in the kitchen. Love it. This was scheduled well before everything else and I decided not to cancel because besides the granite folk I also had the plumber scheduled. It was a good distraction.
Tomorrow begins my father’s treatment. I truly believe everything will go well. Will keep you updated.
Kathy1 -
Kathy, sending good thoughts to your dad. I hope it goes well.
Sounds like you have a beautiful kitchen!! Cool!
Shelley, we were down at Big Break yesterday and I about froze to death. The wind was fierce and cold as can be...somewhere in the low 50's!!However, -45 degrees scares the "crimeny" outta me! Have you always lived there? brrrrr
Karen, I hope your house gets back to normal soon and the water goes in another direction. Sorry, ice storms would be too cold for me...I love California!
Chris0 -
Hoping everyone is doing well, dealing with cold weather, getting nice house updates, and appreciating families.
Kathy, Special good thoughts for you, your mom and especially your dad, for wonderful results from his procedure that are quick, easy and 100% successful.
Knowing we can all use a few rays of sunshine,
Best wishes to all. :flowerforyou:

Kathy we are all sending best wishes to your father. And a hug for you. And we need photos of the new counters. You have such great taste I must see. I spent V Day with Rocky. Also had a wonderful time. Did aquarium water changes on 2 tanks. And ordered Chinese take out.
Chris I have lived in warm sunny places also. California, Florida, Georgia, Alabama were some. I have lived in Okinawa also, 3 years actually. Or would that be on Okinawa. Germany for about 7 years, New Jersey, Missouri, Washington, both by the coast and near Couer Alene Idaho. I was in Texas for a year. I guess I have moved a bit. I was not happy when it dropped that low on Saturday. Hit some all time lows for us here. We put the little door in the dogs door. Did not want them going out and getting stuck. The flap was iced over.
Chris the 50's would be a heat wave to me. I would be outdoors loving it. And since our population is lower I would be enjoying nature and the antelope.
We had some above zero weather today. Cooper looks so cute in his blue sweater. Worked on the tanks plumbing issue today. And cuddled with the pups. I have tomorrow off. I need to get in some walking.

Kathy- Echo the healing thoughts toward you and your family;)
And yes...photos when you feel up to it!

Still waiting. My dad had been at the hospital since 6:00. I’m hoping we will be picking him up very soon. I’ll post pictures of my kitchen later.
Thanks

My eating has been lazy, and the scale is showing it! Really need to tighten up....

EGADS!!!! Last week was crazy sweet and salt! and my scale shows it, too, Karen. Time to be mindful of what goes in my mouth.
Back later...

Kathy I hope everything went well. We need to be done with COVID so we can be with our loved ones when they need us.
I talked with my favorite judge today. Judge Brown, asked him if he has gotten a vaccine shot yet. He is 65 and said he is still on a list. Then he laughed and said he has not been on a date since March. Last March. And then he mentioned how disappointed he was to hear that 75% of his security staff did not trust in science and refused the vaccine. I know, can't understand why they refused.
Shelley1 -
Kathy, how is everything? How is your father?
I can't understand why folks refuse to vaccinate themselves and their children. We had a neighbor like that once. I'm pretty sure I heard that kids will not be allowed in school if they weren't vaccinated. I could be wrong...might have been a dream.
Pat is out getting his second shot right now. I hope he doesn't have any reaction. My trainer's DH is a policeman...got his second shot and got fever and chills for 24 hours then he was just fine.
Scale was down this morning but not back to pre-Valentine's week, yet.

Dad is resting, a little uncomfortable, very fatigued, some nausea but otherwise doing well. They were only able to treat 3 of the five lesions. He has to go back in 2-3 weeks to finish the treatment on the other two. Took mom for her follow up today at primary care. That went very well,
We didn’t have any issues with the vaccine. Will get our 2nd dosage March 14. I hope people get over their fears and get vaccinated. I’m more afraid of the long term effects of Covid than any side effects from the vaccine.
I’m eating way too much junk. Need to get it together quickly.I loss last week despite everything but I’m probably going to see a gain this week.

A couple of photos from kitchen upgrade. Hope this works.’0

Chris I would much rather have had chills and a fever for a day than Covid. Glad he got his. And I think you are right. Children have to have certain vaccines before attending school.
Kathy I love the new look. Are those delicious rolls part of the eating to much junk?I have done better this week. Last week was a crap show in the junk department.
My mom called me last night. She has been hearing about how awful the second shot is and was thinking of not getting it. I told her to get it. That most folks are no worse off with the second. I hate people who have not taken the vaccine spreading rumors!
I hear Texas is getting power back up. So glad to hear that.

Kathy,
Thank you for the pics. Your kitchen is darling! I love the ceramics collection, the bright rich cream colors, the pulls, the beautiful stone counter (granite?), etc. etc. etc... Your style just feels so good. And there's a Keurig machine front and center - sister after my own heart!
You even have a rack for the Keurig cups, girl. That is serious! And I totally relate. Mine are in a drawer right next to the machine (see below). They're very handy, aren't they!
Paula
