Chris, How did Pat do? Hope he is fine.
Shelley, You are so 100% right, 24 hours of chills and fever are worth it to get 95% immunity to Covid. I also don't understand the anxiety about the vaccine. Isn't it what the world needs?
Kathy, I'm also hoping that the fear dies down. Fingers crossed, prayers and happy thoughts...
I had a sore arm and exhaustion after my first shot. Derek only had a sore arm.
My 2nd is scheduled in a week and a half, can't wait. It is so exciting to feel safer and less dangerous to others. I've heard there's still a small (5%) chance to get it - but that even then, it's much milder (although still contagious).
Best wishes to all,
Paula :flowerforyou:2 -
Kathy - kitchen looks great!
Karen0 -
Kathy, I love your new kitchen! Enjoy! Glad your dad and mom are doing okay and you are all getting the vaccine.
Paula, Pat is doing okay. He didn't want to walk today. Feels sluggish. My second shot is three weeks out. Can't wait!!
DDD doesn't have anything positive to say about starting the youngest batch of kids...K-3...back to school. She might have one of her principals out to be quarantined because one of the maintenance crew showed up after his daughter had been diagnosed with Covid then he got it...ugh! There are folks out at both her schools because of Covid. How, if the grown-ups can't be smart about this, do they expect 5-6-7-8 year olds to follow directions? Egads!!

Chris,
I don't understand it. Covid may not be as deadly for the kids, but they can still spread the danger to others (like your DDD). I want to assume that the professionals have thought this through and have reasons for what they are doing. But a part of me is so scared that they are only human...

Chris/Paula,
I'm with you both. There's a lot of adults who have not been acting like adults. And of course all the children are watching them as role models. Makes my head spin as well.
My mom's pulmonologist (doctor Nina) does a weekly zoom session with her patients and we all listen in. She's actually fairly hilarious and I want to go and have a glass of wine with her when this is all overDr. Nina was saying pretty clearly that this is not going to end as quickly as everybody thinks. She pretty much told everybody don't even think about a vacation in 2021. Look more toward 2022. She also thinks that we will probably be mask wearing for at least another year and a 1/2 with the mutations, and the people who refuse vaccinations. I need to get more masks!
She said to her patients, don't wait until COVID is over to start living. Do it now and take care of your health today.....which is what we are all doing!
We've got this ladies!
Happy Friday!

Karen,
Thank you so much for sharing that. It is a whole new paradigm shift to think about making this a lifestyle for another year, instead of just a short term holding in a waiting pattern for things to resume as normal.
The wheels in my brain are spinning. (It feels important.) Ouch, my brain hurts.
Do you gals know you are a lifeline? FB friends are great but we don't talk like this. And I've always been awkward on the phone. Whereas here with you, there are actual conversations and a sense of continuity. I don't have that with anyone else right now. You'all give me a place to live. (That is such a gift, thank you.)

Oh, Paula, you are so sweet!!
Karen, you mom's doc is right.
I'm working on soups for DDD's best friend who got the virus but recovered. Sent a Cabbage, Vegetable & Chicken soup this morning. Looking at a Peanut Butter Chili to put together Sunday or Monday. Best friend's husband doesn't like beans...makes it hard because there are so many great recipes out there with beans in them, but I can deal with that.
When we have Ronan in the morning and he gets hungry (or 10:45 which ever comes first) he wants to watch Blippi and have peanut butter toast. I make it with sour dough bread. Sara sent me a text last week that said..."Just in case you needed a pick-me-up, Mom, Ronan shared, 'My Grandma makes the best peanut butter toast I've ever had!''' Makes me so proud!!! I love that kid!
Chris1 -
Paula I agree with the life line. I love chatting with you all.
I have to admit though we need to get the kids back into school as soon as possible. Safely! They are missing out on skills only learned on a playground or in class.
Karen I agree with your doctor. This scrap is here for another year if not for many more.
Chris I love cabbage and peanut butter toast. Do you think Ronan will share?
Today was hard for me. I took the day off to cuddle with Cooper. He laid with me all morning and until 1330. At which time I took him to the vets and held him while saying my goodbyes. He was such a good boy. He is missed.

Oh Shelley!
So sorry!!

Oh, Shelley, I'm so sorry. So sad.
Chris1 -
Shelley, Ronan will gladly share his pb toast with you if you slide up next to him so you can watch Blippi together. He will explain things to you if you do not understand.
Not too crazy about the cabbage soup...too much of one of the seasonings. Don't know what DDD thinks yet. DH likes it...but he likes just about everything.
Fell off the wagon today...sigh.

I've also been having trouble staying within calorie limits the last few days. I don't know why, haven't been splurging on anything. It hasn't gone overboard yet; but it's so temping to give up fighting and give in to the little
claiming "one more bite won't hurt..."
Hopefully a little resolve, food-tracking and perseverance will help get past the rough spot and be reasonable again. So here's to "no cake in the house" and "staying away from the whiskey"...QuotingpaulaChris

Shelley - Sending you hugs....what a lucky pup Cooper was to have you as a Mom.
Chris - I'm sure all of those wonderful soups were so welcome....there is nothing better than someone making you nourishing food when you are ill. A true gift!
I'll take some PB toast too....yum!
Echo what you said Paula and others.....so grateful for our small tribe of women here...we are free to be our authentic selves without judgment, here to support each other, to remind each other to have self compassion and to kick each other in the butt when we need it! Thank you for all of these things!
Karen2 -
Shelley - such a sweet picture.
Kathy - how are your folks doing? How are you doing?
Paula - that "One more bite..." business gets me every time. "Egads! I need one more bite...but...dun...dun...dun...it's all gone..."
Karen - Thank you. Good thing I have two loaves of sour dough bread in the freezer...better get one out, you know, just in case!! Better get Pat to mix up some more pb, too...you know, just in case.
The kids are coming over to discuss new phones. Sara is going to help me decide if I even need one...maybe. They have a new purple one. They call it violet, but what do they know. We are going to have Panera for lunch. They have something called a "Kitchen Sink" cookie...800 cals...Sara ordered one to share...bwahahahahah! Share, my foot!!! It'll be a fun afternoon.
I love you ladies. We are a great group.

Chris he would have to tell me all about Blippi. Clueless here in Casper
Shelley0 -
Karen thanks. Just not the same without him. He spent every evening with me. And always slept next to me. I know, he should have slept in his own bed. But look how skinny he was. Always so skinny.,
Chris he was giving me the brown eyes waiting for his snack.

So very sorry Shelley. Take care!0 -
I have to say I agree I think we will have to deal with Covid well into 2022. We’re going to have to continue to adjust and live our lives. I’ve decided after I get the second shot of the vaccine to go back to my swim lessons if I can afford them. I miss it and I need to see if I’ve lost and if the skills I learned.
My mom is doing great. Her BP has remained under control thank goodness. My dad has had a difficult time post treatment with a little pain, nausea and loss of appetite. He’s finally feeling a little better. We’re waiting for the second part of the treatment to be scheduled.
You ladies are absolutely correct, talking with you all is a lifeline. Y’all give me great advice, hope, peace and laughs!

Chris I am so glad I saw the video. I know why he likes the costume so much.
Kathy I miss hearing about your swim lessons and the tennis group. All the comraderies you got from them. I was even a bit envious! Now I just want you to get back at it so I can enjoy it through you all. Remember your trip to Canada with them? It was Canada right? My darn memory! Sorry to hear your dad is feeling poorly. Glad he is starting to feel better.
And thanks Kathy. That little guy was such a big part of my every day. First thing I saw in the morning and last guy I hugged at night. I looked at his photos over the last year and could see the steady decline. He just was in pain in the end. I am grateful for those photos of him. Don't tell Rocky, but I have been sneaking extra hugs from his little Libby lu. Us gals got to stick together. And she doesn't mind if my eyes leak sometimes.

I'm with you guys. I'm walking 5 days a week at least 4 miles. If I don't get 4 mile w/DH then I'll go off by myself for the rest of my miles. I'm working w/my trainer 3 time a week 60 mins each workout session. I am doing IF ...wish I'd written down when I started doing it but...I didn't.

So I decided to quit being lazy. I am tracking my meals a bit better. And also doing more planning. Like today. We had breakfast at work. So I only ate half and chose my lunch to be 150 calories less than usual. Plan to succeed or we will fail.
