Do you have any food triggers? How do you handle them?
Trigger foods for me use to be any kind of rice, pasta potatoes ....Now that I went back to Keto on January 1st I no longer crave those ... My trigger food is Pistachios in a shell ( I would measure them out ..eat those and go back for more )...if I had to guess I was eating at least 1000 calories if not more ...now I buy them without the shell ...and measure 1/4 cup I either eat them plain or I put them on my salad for more crunch2 -

I always refer to soda pop as my gateway drug. The sweet taste in my mouth makes me crave carb laden foods and if I don't eat something with it, I get an upset stomach. Also, when eating products with tomato sauce, it calls for chocolate and of course chocolate calls for more chocolate.
How I handle food triggers is I avoid them. If not possible to avoid or limit the trigger food then I find an activity to do during or after eating that will grab my attention and make me not want to continue eating. Sometimes, just telling myself that I have had enough works. I never know when I am full or empty so it is easier to tell myself that I have had enough.2 -

In the past, it wasn't about eating certain foods for me. It was more about just overeating everything. Whatever we were having for a meal or snack or whatever, I would just consume food until I felt sick and physically couldn't eat anymore. Candy was a big binge food for me. Any kind where I could just pop it in my mouth, I had no control. Gummies, jelly beans, mini candy bars- no control.
Right now though I don't feel like I really have any triggers anymore. I portion out everything I eat and am satisfied.

Arggghhh - on my way out the door to Zumba this morning, first time in two weeks due to being sick, and fell down the steps and landed on my knee - sliced it and bruised to the core. The ice started on my porch and I had no idea - boy was I surprised. I will probably have very low steps for a couple of days but I'm going to find a chair exercising video to get some type of movement into my day.
What... I'm so sorry this happened. Do you think you need to get stiches? Please keep us informed1 -

Weigh-in Day: Monday (Feb 8, 2021)
CW: 215.1
PW: 215.5
SW: 240
I'm only down just 4/10ths of a pound this week but it's a little misleading as we celebrated a birthday on Saturday and Super Bowl Sunday doesn't exactly lend itself to being known as a health food day - that being said I was somewhat judicious. My 18 year old son wanted Olive Garden takeout for his birthday meal - specifically Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, and a healthy portion of their salad and breadsticks. I skipped on the Alfredo and breadsticks, and limited myself to the Lasagna and too much salad thinking it would fill me up ... then a slightly smaller than normal size slice coconut banana cream pie. Everything was delicious but ughh - I gained 2.8 pounds on the scale the next morning! I knew it was going to be bad (and I'm sure some of that was water weight) but I had to double-time it on the steps on Sunday. Anyway, it was a 'special occasion' (so I'm allowed to go over on my daily intake a bit) and it was still a down week in the end so I'm optimistic that getting back to my routine will yield better results next Monday.
There wasn't anything too super with the Super Bowl (we were rooting for the Chiefs) but the food was decidedly better than the usual "big game" fare. We had blackened (spicy) shrimp, vegan cauliflower buffalo 'wings', baked chicken tenders and fresh veggies (no dip for me) instead of the typical chili, fried chicken wings and endless tortilla chips, etc. At least the food was good.
Just a quick update on hitting my January weight loss goal, after much careful thought, I decided to skip buying the TV for the exercise room as my reward and instead went ahead and got on the waiting list for the rowing machine (Concept 2 Dynamic) which per the email they sent me, has a an estimated delivery of "timelines are uncertain; production is scheduled intermittently when possible" but given their most popular model is 6 - 7 weeks out, I expect it to probably be springtime before it makes it. My thinking is they're going to be backed up for an extended time so the sooner I get it on the list, the sooner I can up my game on higher calorie burning exercises. Anyway the delayed gratification kind of goes with the whole weight loss thing anyway right ?
Your dinner out sounds great!! Also, the Super Bowl fare... delicious.
We love the Concept2 rower. Got it just after Christmas. It is a cinch to put together. Eagerly awaiting the delivery of the SkiErg this week. Congrats on the rower1 -

- Either beer or wine can match up really well with certain foods - As long as I stay within my daily net calorie intake I allow myself 1 drink (up to two nights) on the weekdays and up to 2 drinks on either a Saturday or Sunday. I've really cut back but will have a drink every now and then.
- Ice cream or cookies - Again, as long as I'm under 2,000 net calories for the day, my plan allows for a small amount up to twice / week. In reality, I maybe only have ice cream once every other week and I use our smallest bowl and usually put raspberries on top to keep it somewhere between 2/3 to 3/4 cup) . With regards to cookies, my wife, Susan buys Oreo thins that have a serving size of 4 and I hold off for 2 which is just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth but only add up to 70 calories for the pair.

Sorry I wasn't around for a few days. I had a couple homework assignments due this weekend, and I sat and stared at my computer trying to motivate myself to finish the assignments ALL weekend. LOL. But I did eventually finish them! So, that's a good thing.
I think like much of North America, we're experiencing a polar vortex right now, and over night it's colder than -40 degrees. Brrr! I left the house only once this weekend to get groceries. Haha. It's supposed to continue being this cold for the next week. Yuck!
I also broke up with my boyfriend this weekend. It's the first time I broke up with someone (I know that's weird. For assorted reasons I only starting dating for the first time this past summer). I didn't do a good job though, because we're still together. Don't quite know if that's the right thing. I'm really torn and confused.
Anyways, because of many things, I didn’t do awesome at my goals over the weekend, but the work week is back, and I’m happy to get back into a good routine.

I'm with @Megan_smartiepants1970, on this one, pistachios in the shell... I really love nuts of all kinds, really. Currently I purchase them in individual servings. Some of them actually come in environmentally friendly packaging.
Yikes, I think I have like 6 different kinds of various mixtures of nuts. Good thing today is one of my higher calorie days. Then, there is the nuts and dried raison etc. mixtures....3 -

Did you do the ribs in the instant pot? With the walking, I was kinda of marching on spot. I will try your move next time.
@Beautyofdreams
Before I switched to coke I drank Pepsi. I always said it was my drug of choice. I also used to say I was going to sue Pepsi for making me fat. 😂
@heatherbluebell
I remember those cold winter days in Edmonton. That’s great that you finished your assignments. With your goals take it one day at a time. On the weekends if you want, just concentrate on one or two goals I did that for several months. I found it defeating when I didn’t meet all my goals. Go with your gut on the relationship. It is a big one but you know will know what’s right.

I went to physio yesterday morning. She said my disk is inflamed and my posture needs correcting. She gave me some stretches and a few modified crunches and bridges to do and I can take a short walk if I don't have pain. She gave me an AWESOME massage and I had a great nap when I got home. I just got a call for some supply work, so I need to go focus on that, but I would like to reply to some posts later.
BTW, thank you to everyone who posted a congrats on my weight loss. Much appreciated!
To be continued later... (also want to answer the question about triggers..Great question by the way Linda_)

I think my Fitbit is going to die. It is showing a 100% charge even though it hasn’t been charged since last week. I think I bought it in June 2020. I am going to contact Fitbit today and see what they got to say. I did buy extended warranty but the way that works is you send the Fitbit in and then they send a gift card from the store you bought it from. Anyway, I will wear until it completely dies. Maybe it is time to switch to an Apple Watch as I have bad luck with Fitbit watches. This is my 6th one since July 2015.
I had to drive my husband to work so I could have the car so i had to get up early therefore I missed my sleep goal. I have 2 appointments today with one being the dreaded dentist. 🤦♀️ Yesterday, I did both my mini walks and 15 minutes of arms. My dumbbells are not very heavy but my arms hurt today. I will do the arm exercises again tomorrow.
Have a terrific Tuesday!2 -

The physiotherapist got me to buy a brace which puts my shoulders in the correct position to help with posture. I don’t have to wear it all the time but it helps. It cost $50 but it is worth it. I hope with your physio exercises things settle down.1 -

1 rack pork spare ribs
2 tsp dijon mustard
2 Tb white vinegar
3 1/2 tsp kosher salt
3/4 Tb fresh course ground pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ground paprika
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cumin
In one bowl, whisk the mustard and vinegar. In another bowl, mix together all the spices. Put the rack of ribs on a foil lined cookie sheet meat side down. Make a slash and a few poke holes with a knife through the membrane between each bone.
Spread half the mustard/vinegar on and then sprinkle on half the spices. Flip the ribs over so the meat side is up. Spread on the other half of the mustard/vinegar and then sprinkle on the other half of the spices.
Put the ribs in the fridge uncovered for 4 hours. You don't HAVE to do this if you don't have time, but it makes them better.
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Put the ribs on a rack in the center of the oven. Bake for 1 1/2 hours, then baste the ribs with their own juices. (I usually just slightly tip the pan and use a spoon to put the juices back on top). Bake until the ribs are done. In our experiences this can take anywhere from 1 to 1 1/2 more hours. You want them to temp at over 204 degrees.
If you're not a huge fan of pepper you can lower the amount because you can taste it. Or change anything else really. We've changed the spices a little every time and this one is the best to us so far.

It's a balmy 30 below windchill here and expected to last through next week. I have never been a cold weatherperson and am so glad to have purchased a good winter coat this summer. Always have two winter coats, one for the ten and below weather and the other for the warmer ten to 40 degree days.
