Hello! I'm Kristi 38, married for 13 years and we have 3 kids 11, 9 and 6. I work 4 days a week at a large preschool center as an occupational therapist. I have been working on my weight for almost 2 years. I started at 255 and I am around 219 right now. I'm one of the motivators for our team but starting this month I am on support team. I have been stuck for a few months and was starting to notice I was tighten the reins a little too much in an effort to overcome my stall in weight loss. I have reduced my calories to the healthy limit and can't go any lower. I have consistently worked out about 6 hours a week for the past year. I am shifting gears and focusing on different things to help me reach my goals.
I have a vision board that I made in December and it has 6 supporting action plans. As I shift my focus I am picking 2 of my action plans.
1. Balance my Macros: I will keep going on this one. I am definitely making progress. I will be trying a reverse diet to slowly increase my calories but need to continue to get more protein.
2. Build Curves: I will be increase my weight training for 3 days a week to 5 days. I follow a progressive overload program. I am definitely getting the hang of this. I have a small home gym that fits under my bed and in the closet. I literally set it up and take it down every time 🤪
Honestly weight lifting is not my favorite but it will help me reach my goals and sounds like a key component of reverse diet. I would much rather dress up in leotards, skirts and legwarmers and do ballet. I will still do ballet guys, let's be real!
I have not worked out or logged in a week! Monday and Tuesday were rough days at work. I have also had a pretty strong immune response to my covid vaccine. I have had a fever for 4 days straight. It finally broke tonight. I have been sick for so long I can't go back to work until I get a covid test even though it's a typical vaccine reaction. I have an appointment tomorrow to get tested and should have results by noon.
I taking a sick day tomorrow and working on my February plans and setting up my planner. I used my planner a lot this last month and it really helped me see trends and draw some conclusions based on the fact.6 -
Morning from the UK!! Woken up feeling so positive and determined today!!!
I would love to join the step challenge please, I will set my target at 10,000 a day.
It used to be higher but with no school runs I have lost two walks a day.
I have reset my calorie and macro goals as I think they were too low and I was setting myself up to fail. I need to work out an exercise plan... I have 2 set gym zoom classes a week but otherwise its fitting in what I can, where I can... I think I am going to aim for a youtube pilates class today!4 -

Welcome to the team! We are happy to have you here. Thanks to our wonderful members for answering your question about step team. You are more than welcome to join our step team. All you have to do is let me know and tell me what your daily step goal is. You may report your steps daily or all at once by Sunday. Our week runs Sunday to Saturday. If you have a Fitbit, let us know and we can include you in our weekly challenges there.
Mel, you can post your email here if you are comfortable with that or message me through MFP. I believe I sent you a friend request.
So Hi everyone! I’m Michele, a 56 year old mom of two grown kids, Mom Mom to one perfect 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, and wife for nearly 38 years, living in North Carolina, USA. Co-captain with@jugar. I have been with this team since February of 2019. I have lost about 22 pounds more or less, depending on the week. LOL I am still working to get where I want to be and have 30ish pounds to go. I know what a daily struggle it is to make the right choices, stay motivated, get exercise, drink water, etc. I see you because I am you. My weight loss struggle has always been part of me.
My frequent tipping point was reaching the weight (and then some later) I was when I delivered my son. It was the heaviest I had ever been and I didn’t like the way I felt being there.
Being part of Waistaways has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. It has all the pieces I loved and needed about WW without the cost, getting to meetings or points. I love that everyone does what works for them and shares that to help others searching for the right fit. The greatest thing I’ve learned is not to give up even when I could have easily walked away. “Quitting” isn’t part of this for me because it’s forever. Not a diet-a way of life. Not looking for perfection just progress.
My progress this whole year has been to not give up on this journey. I have pretty much remained the same weight all year. That’s definitely disappointing, but considering a pandemic, menopause, and being in my house so much, I’m going to claim that as a win.
So happy that this team is always here to get me back in focus. Like @jugar who gave me the directive to get myself outside and stop staying inside. I want you to know I walked in the rainy, cold today because of you and guess what? It didn't kill me. In fact, it was enjoyable. I liked it. It felt good. So thanks. I plan on getting outside EVERY day this week.
I also need to back to logging, losing, and moving more. Walking and Piliates are my main exercises. I have also pulled out the stationary bike. Last month, it just sat there. I also want to work on building strength this year.
As a co-captain, I record steps and results for our team step group. If you are interested, let me know and tell me your daily goal. Mine is 9,000 steps a day. It's amazing how they add up.
I have sent you my email to link up on fitbit2 -

@jugar I think you said before, but is it OK if I weigh in KG going forward?
Welcome @kiay131982!
I ended up running solo last night, and still went. We're due some snow/ice (though it doesn't appear to be forthcoming) and I knew that I'd regret it if I didn't go out, even though I'd already done 3 runs last week. I ran at what I believe is my quickest pace yet, though it was quite the mental challenge. One moment my mind was telling me I had this, and the next it'd be saying I could walk - umm no.
I am after buying a rebounder; heard great things about them on here, looked up a few workout routines and think it could help strengthen me up for running, and also provide an 'easy' 30 minutes if I was struggling to do anything more involved. The one I was going to buy is unavailable on Amazon, so I need to track down an alternative.2 -
Hi I'm Pearl, 38 and been with MFP for 2 years. I am a busy mum and studying for my second career. I've lost a nice amount of weight in my first year on MFP but then regained half over the last year. I never made it close to goal so still a long way to go. I've recommitted to logging this month after a long hiatus and also reintroduced regular excersize. I hope i can keep it up!6

Kg are fine! I don't mind doing the conversion - living in Canada we are doing that all the time, since our neighbours to the South seem to prefer pounds, and many of us are bilingual1 -
Happy Monday, everyone!
I know it is already late in the day for our members in the UK and Europe, but happy day anyhow I have been busy all morning - heating with wood is a lot of work, and it is yogurt making day. It is the most fabulous thing about the instant pot. I make great nonfat yogurt if anyone wants the secret that makes it beautiful and tasty, let me know!
The sun is shining and calling me outside even though it is still really cold - and tomorrow we get a big snowstorm. The best! I love February because the sun is getting brighter, the days are getting longer, but it is still wonderfully cold and snowy. I would take 2 Februarys per year if I could! I know, I know - so many people hate it, but I'm just trying to share the happiness4 -
Hello everyone!
Just poking my head in the door! Have to go - I have to finish up my work day, do laundry, get on a Reading Group Zoom call and then do a late supper!

Hello everyone, my name is Stephanie. I currently live in Luxembourg but am from the US (Oklahoma). I have been with this group since 2019, when we moved overseas for my husband’s work. I am married with three kids, my oldest is living in the US and the other two (11 & 13) are here in Luxembourg. It is interesting to get to the point where they have their own activities and I have most of my time back to myself. I am learning to speak French, going back to school for my master’s degree and not working at the time. I was surprised by how difficult it was to learn what I liked again. I had let me career and family take over my life. My highest weight was 182 in June 2019. Based on my new scales and adjustments I think this number is lower than I am willing to admit. I started to focus on my fitness in 2019 when I left the US. Both the shock of the move and my available time helped me to reevaluate myself. I used NOOM for awhile and it helped with that, but the encouraging effect wore off after about five months.
During 2020, I started at 168 and ended at 163.6 pounds. So not a lot of progress on the scale... Although I did get two different new scales and my weight increased each time. I have always thought I could exercise more and loose whatever weight I needed - I like working out, hiking, running and have exercised a lot - but I didn't lose much weight with those methods. I'm pretty good with water intake and getting an average of 10K steps per day. I ate about 1500 calories but didn't pay attention to what made up those calories. I worked out a lot and beat myself up mentally when that wasn't working.
I'm still working my way to 145lbs and I needed to change my approach. So, I have big goals for fitness and nutrition in 2021; run more than 400 miles, take 12 new hiking routes, master 16h fasting, integrate low carb (<100 carbs/per day) into my regular food intake, try five new recipes each month, reduce alcohol consumption, log my meals with MFP, read AND participate in these discussions, buy new jeans, create better sleep routines, dance everyday and feel good naked (whatever my weight). I'm planning to focus on one of these activities each month.
I just completed "dry January" and it has helped me recognize that I was drinking just because I wanted a cold or bubbly drink and there are plenty of other options for me. I also fasted for at least 16 hours for 30 days in January, that meant no snacking after dinner and coffee with cream for breakfast. My mindfulness and focus on how I interact with food has started to change.
This February I am focusing on creating a better sleep routine. During the week I usually sleep on 6 hours per night and I refuse to nap. Then I use the weekend to get more rest and feel super lazy.
I think this is the longest post I've ever written here. I would say to all the new members that our group is amazing with encouragement and suggestions on the bad and good days. I've picked up a lot of good resources here and hopefully I can share more going forward. I'm looking forward to February and 2021!

Well good afternoon, and welcome to the new members, it's a wonderful group here !
I'm Vikki, I live in Baltimore, MD USA I've been with the Waistaways for a little less than a year and a half... I am turning 50 this year at the end of August, so my ultimate goal is to get to my goal weight of 135 by then. I have 3 children all grown, although the oldest ones still lives here, he has apparently become a degree junkie... He is currently a few credits away from a masters in Human resources, but decided he wants a degree in political science now too... He makes more money than me, as he is climbing the ladder at a large investment firm, but he pays for school out of pocket so he is fairly poor at the same time... lol . My youngest son is 19 and is in the USAF he works in avionics, and my daughter who is 25 is the party girl, but she is starting to see the light so I am thankful for that... She lives about 3 blocks from me, so I see her often.
I have struggled with my weight alot, I started my journey at 193 back in sept 2019, I am now at 162ish, I made it to the 158 in Dec, but then life got a little crazy, and Jan was even crazier, I am in the midst of switching jobs, the job is similar but I am going from my entire life in Construction accounting/office management to a Healthcare accounting/analyst position. So switching industries will mean alot to learn. My 1st day is tomorrow..
I am really good at exercise, but I have found that I am fairly weak in my core, so I will commit to 2 days a week working solely on my core , then 2 days on upper body. You see my other goal for the year is to be able to do a handstand.. I do lots of Leslie Sansone Videos, and yoga, and I also have goals to start running... I recently got a Fitbit Sense to replace my Fitbit charge 3, and the new one uses Zone minutes, instead of activity minutes, and I've had to admit to myself, that I just wasn't putting enough effort into my exercise, so last week, I really made an effort to stop choosing the easier video segments and to pick the harder ones, and I can definitely tell... So that is one of my focuses this month, along with my weekends, I start with good intentions, I just can't seem to do it, this weekends excuse was a snow storm. It didn't help that my stupid time of the month showed up, I am in peri- so it's been 5 months, I was really hoping I had seen the last of that, but NOPE !
Okay I rambled alot, so to sum it up, I am not very good at this, but I persist...
Hope you all have a great day !6 -
Well I did manage to find an app that will allow me to more easily access the Habit Tracker while on Mobile, but cause I like the visual of colouring, I've made my own Habit Tracker Calendar!
I'll tape this to the wall next to my workout plan in the bedroom and I get to colour in the boxes as I go. I'm not able to buy an actual calendar in a store until at least next week as my province has deemed that 'non-essential' so home-made it is! The hardest for me will honestly be the water.... I just can't seem to remember to drink enough while I'm at work as we're always wearing masks. I'm only allowing myself the reward if I drink the water EVERYDAY so it's going to be a focus. I've gotten my workout plan down to 15 minutes of intensity which really works for me. There should be no excuses for 15 minutes, right??!?!?!?

@jugar I did one perfect day! With your voice in my head. Logged everything that entered my mouth. Made decent choices and ended the day with 3kcals to spare. I also went for a 5k run although my speed is still very slow (took 40 mins) with no signs of speeding up. But I'm not complaining, it burns the same amount of calories, just takes longer.
So I am happy and hope to keep it up!3 -

We got a random meal delivery with fresh pasta and this really delicious garlicky marinara sauce that would probably taste amazing just eating it out of the jar with tostitos.
So that's probably what we'll end up doing Saturday night. XD
The pasta we'll eat tomorrow with grilled chicken. High calorie for sure, but I'll adapt.4 -
What fantastic plans! The February vibe seems to be having a great effect.
I hope that everyone is getting inspired reading the plans, changes to plans, and the practical energy that seems to be flowing through the posts today. "Some adjustments may be required" is the rule of thumb - take those IKEA-like instructions for nutrition, exercise, and just make it all balance out somehow. And then adjust again when things change. The new manuals are looking good!

@jugar todays weigh in
156.6 not what I wanted, but hopefully, my body is adjusting and will start dropping soon.
Have a great week everyone!!4 -
Okay, so, I did well with most of my food choices and managed to exercise simultaeneously with my daugher (in the living room and my OH was at an online class until 7:45 pm) doing a combination of marching in place, using the mini-elliptical, and arm exercises with a 3 lb weight for a total of 25 minutes.
I allowed myself a couple of handfuls of candy during a zoom meeting - I decided that was the end of that and the container now lives in a cupboard in the kitchen instead of on my desk!
I had hoped to check in by 3:00 in the afternoon but this was as soon as I could get to it.
I'll still aim to check in during the afternoon, so I don't forget.
We're getting snowed on tonight and I'm feeling a bit worn out from being up early and feeling the storm swoop up the coast.
Sleep well, everyone.5 -

Wow! What a great Monday full of posts. I think I've spent the last hour reading them and recording posts. I feel so motivated and grateful I have all of you with me on this journey. I love hearing your plans and goals and strategies and tools and exercise. You all rock!!
Wow! The list of friends on this team who have reached new milestones is amazing!!! Everything from 100 pounds on down. Great job everyone!
@PlaneMonkey I love your tracker! So visual and simple to use. I think your idea to have them nearby is great.
@Gidgitgoescrazy I know you will be doing that handstand on your 50th birthday! There is nothing you can't do. I am also sending you big virtual hugs and good vibes as you start your new job! You are going to do great.
Hope everyone in the midwest and northeast of the US is doing ok in this huge snowstorm. Also anyone in Canada who is also getting this storm. Didn't come from you in the first place?
@Pearl4686 Yay for one perfect day for you. You are on your way. My day was pretty good too. I got over 10K steps, I logged all my food and stayed under my calorie goal. I only went outside briefly because I was watching my granddaughter and nap time was a long time coming today. We told all kinds of stories about playing in the snow (although we have none.) Later at dinner, she was able to recount in detail all the stories I told her. She amazes me. She's 2 1/2.
My goals for tomorrow are to get my rear out of bed earlier. I have been laying in bed looking at my phone waayyyy too long. Instead, I will get up and do my Pilates. This month's focus is on building ab strength. I will get my 10k steps, log my food and be under calories.
Oh, my husband has an appointment to get his vaccine on Friday. Yay! Now, I want my turn. I will have to wait a bit, we are in different groups. My son has to travel on Wednesday for a final step of a new job interview. He's concerned about the travel, hotel, meeting, and dining during Covid. I know he is careful and even asked them about what precautions they are taking, but it's still anxiety producing. Hope he stays well and it is everything he wants.
Thanks again to everyone for your uplifting and motivating posts. I am so glad you are here and I am so glad I am too!4 -
Checking in early on my Tuesday am. Congrats to everyone who reached a goal or milestone! Its great to see familiar friends names on that list!!5

Morning from the UK!
@micki48 steps for Feb 1 were 11800.
Managed to stay on calorie target yesterday and didnt succumb to evening snacking which I usually do! I also drank enough water, need to really work at that one as I am a coffee fiend. I didnt get in a dedicated workout, but I did go for an hours dog walk, so I got moving. This morning I have a zoom gym class so that will tick the box for exercise today. The rest of the day will be manic, my husband is going to his job on a farm (second job that he picked up to get us through covid, hes a swim teacher/coach by career but with all the pools shut hes lost alot of work!)... So I will be trying to do my job, homeschool my two youngest and generally just survive the day!! 🤣5
