I’m new! I did one of these challenges last year pre-pandemic. I’m just now facing my gains over the last year and getting my butt in gear. I’m a solo parent, doing virtual learning, and in a major job transition this year. The good part is I have more flexibility and time than ever, due to being underemployed lol.
I’ve decided to only weigh in once a week this time around, trying to play the long game this time as I have a very big number to lose.4 -
Hi! I’m also new and looking forward to this challenge. I retired last October and of course now dealing with arthritis in one of my knees! Ah the fun of getting older! Hopefully I will lose some weight to help with that and am planning a trip to Arizona in April for some hiking so need to get moving!

Good morning guys. I am new this group thiis month. I have participated in this challenge in the past and it’s always been great to help me refocus or stay motivated. Exercise has been my biggest stress relief and the most consistent thing in my life right now. My struggle is cleaning up my diet. This week my goal is simply to log all the foods I eat and drink more water, and go from there!

Hey everyone, I'm also new to the group this month but have participated in the past. It's definitely a great help to have other people you can talk to to stay motivated!
My goal for this week is to try and incorporate more exercise into my routine, I definitely don't get enough right now!2 -

Hi all. I've been on this team for just about 2 years now. I went from 250 pounds to low 170s and I have been slacking the last couple of months with not logging and creeping into my old eating habits. I refuse to get into the same cycle of gaining weight back after losing it! This is a lifelong process. Good luck all!3 -

Hi guys, I have been here before but life side tracked me. I have gained over 40 pounds in the last year and I am tired of making excuses. I have a closet full of clothes that cannot fit and I refuse to buy clothes to accommodate this size. I also refuse to go on a stronger BP med or have to take Diabetes med, so here I am in it for the health and the clothes.7 -

Monday weigh in (for yesterday): 229
I had a big whoosh this first week which I know is water weight/ bloat coming off but it is still nice to see that scale jump down to kick start me! Now for the marathon...
Have a good week everyone!4 -
Hey all! This is my first time doing a monthly challenge and I’m lookin forward to the motivation. This winter (and excessive quarantine baking) has gotten me behind where I feel best.
My goals this month are to close my rings daily and eat clean.
My current weight: 132
My goal weight: 120ish
Not too fixated on a specific goal #, but when I like how I look naked I’ll know I’ve hit it.
Good luck to all!1 -

I don’t think you’ll be relieved when you realize the poison you’ve happily taken alters your DNA, hasn’t been thoroughly tested, is being advocated by the very person who preached about “depopulation with the use of vaccines” and in the event of an adverse reaction, the companies producing them cannot be sued.
The vaccine doesn’t even stop you from getting the “virus” or spreading it.
I wish people would wake up to what is happening in the world right now...
A wholesome diet and exercise gifts our immune system beautifully - healing done with nature. A wonderful side-effect of this journey we are all on, might I add.
Well done on your weight loss this week ✨

Agreed.
Although, this also isn’t the space for pro-vax content.
As a result, I felt a factual response was imperative in order to counter the advocacy in the original post.
I don’t need to comment any further.

I agree with @Minion_training_program that we should keep this as a non-political, non-vaccine related space. However, I just want to correct some things being said and try to spread some more awareness that the vaccine is not bad. I’m going to mark it as a spoiler so there isn’t a huge post clogging the feed up, but please do give it a read if you’re at all unsure how vaccines work and want a little more information.I’ll start by saying that I have two biology degrees – a BSc in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and an MSc in Molecular Medicine. I’ve been taught how to analyse scientific literature, and I also have a much deeper understanding of how biological systems work than the average person. Not trying to put anyone down, just stating that I am more knowledgeable than the average when it comes to vaccines and how they work.
None of the vaccines that have been made available alter your DNA. None. Vaccines work by eliciting an immune response. I’ll use an example of an mRNA vaccine – like the Pfizer vaccine – to explain how it does this without altering your DNA.
mRNA (short for messenger RNA) is the name given to a single-stranded molecule of RNA that corresponds to the genetic sequence of a gene. It is kind of the middle step in the process of making a gene into an actual protein (it goes DNA -> RNA -> protein). When mRNA is ‘read’ by special apparatus in the cell (ribosomes), it translates it into a protein, which can then go on to be used by the cell.
In the mRNA vaccines, mRNA coding for a certain coronavirus protein is used. When this is read by your cell’s ribosomes, it produces the protein. The mRNA is then degraded by your cell as it is no longer needed. The new protein is recognised as foreign by your immune system, which then goes on to produce antibodies against it. Specialised immune cells then remember how to produce these antibodies. If you then become infected with COVID-19, these cells can quickly produce the correct antibodies, getting rid of the infection rapidly.
Yes, the vaccines were all produced much more rapidly than usual, but this is due to a combination of being based on years of previous research on viruses like COVID-19, and also allowing the different phases of testing to be held closer together. Instead of vaccine authorisers only looking at the data after all the trials were over, they looked at it as the trials went on, allowing quicker approval. Ultimately, the quick turnaround for the covid vaccines is a very good thing for the scientific community. We shouldn’t have to wait ~10 years for a vaccine to be approved. This is a good advancement.
And whilst yes, the vaccine might not completely stop you from getting the virus, it has been shown to reduce the risk of getting severely ill. The AstraZeneca vaccine has also recently been shown to reduce the rate of transmission. These are all good things.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share the information that I have, from the perspective of someone who is highly educated in molecular biology and has a deep understanding of how vaccines work.
With that all being said, I hope we all have a great week! Good luck to everyone, keep pushing, we can do this!

@AugustHorizons Thank you
And your spoiler part is something i consider to be pretty basic knowledge about vaccins, but maybe that is because i have a very wide range of interest and curiosity.
So when i do not understand something, i try to teach myself or ask experts in the field i wanna obtain knowledge in.
