HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!

We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:

Username
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you need a week off, a break, a change of weigh-in day - just ask your Captains here on your team chat page. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions and weigh in if you want to, but your weigh-ins will not be counted on the weekly tally. If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to ask if you are travelling, sick, or just needing some time off.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You need support to maintain, and you can help your teammates join you. You continue to weigh in every week, and if you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

Hi all and welcome to the Downsizers May team chat! My name is Linda and I am one of the team captains. My counterpart is the amazing Megan @Megan_smartiepants1970. Our motivator is the wonderful Theresa @theresam787.

I am originally from Newfoundland but I live in Southwestern Ontario. I am 56 years old, married, retired due to a disability and have 3 adult children. I also have 3 beautiful granddaughters. Hayley and Norah live in Ontario but little Stella lives in Scotland. I also have 2 fur babies, Nick and Lady.

I struggled with my weight since the birth of my son 33 years ago. So I have been overweight most of my adult life. I started my weight loss journey in February 2019 and have been with F2F ever since. I have had a couple of ups and downs since starting my journey but I never gave up and I am back on a downward weight loss trend. I try to walk every day but I am limited on how far due to issues with my leg. I am trying to build it up slowly. We have an exercise room and a pool in our building but due to Covid-19 restrictions they are closed. I am looking forward to using them hopefully by June.

    May goals
    1. Sleep minimum 7 hours a night.
    2. 5500 steps daily
    3. Walk daily
    4. Have protein with each meal/snack

    Housekeeping

    Weigh In
We will post a weigh in reminder every day. If you can’t weigh in just let me know. Please use the following format for reporting your weight as it makes it much easier for us to record.

    Username
    Weigh In Day:
    PW (Previous Weight):
    CW (Current Weight):

    Daily Check In
Checking in daily is important. It is the key to making the group work for you. You can do this is any format you want. Things you may want to report could include calories, exercise, water intake, goals or anything you want to share. Share your successes with the team, any struggles or questions you may have.

    Step Challenge
Megan takes care of the step challenge. The information can be found in her post above.

    Other Resources
On the main page of our group you will find many resources. This is where you will find the idea lounge, recipe sharing, weekly challenges and the habit tracker.

If you have any suggestions for the group please let myself, Megan or Theresa know.

Please take time to introduce yourself as it is fun to get to know your teammates!

@lindamtuck2018 Thank you... Never did get to future exercise room, vacuumed packed meat and been busy making my brothers birthday dinner of choice. (Prime Rib roast with lots of garlic, and with my special rub.).

As for goals.... I may have bite a bit more off then I can chew with another mfp friend... I pledged 12000 between today and tomorrow. So I'm a smidge over 6000 at the moment.. Which means I got a pretty busy day ahead for tomorrow! DOH! 😆🤪😁

Hello everyone!! My name is Theresa. I’ve been lucky to be a part of this incredibly encouraging and supportive team and now I get to be one of your motivators. We are all motivators here though. That’s just one of the many reasons why I love this team!

A bit about me. I put on twenty pounds this past year. Nothing fit anymore. Well, except for yoga pants (that I don’t use for yoga) and running shorts (that I don’t use for running). Since COVID shut the world down, that’s all I wore. Then, my stretchy clothes started feeling too tight. Joined MFP and Megan introduced me to the Downsizers (Thank You Again Megan). With the help and support from the Downsizers and my MFP friends, I recently hit my goal and I’m now navigating my way through maintenance.

I’m looking forward to watching you hit your daily goals.

    Daily goals:
    1- Peloton 8 miles within 30 minutes ✅
2- 10,000 steps ✅ went on a walk before my parents came over (they are staying for the weekend- fun Grandma and Grandpa time), then walked around the house until I hit 10,000. I let the boy continue playing with Grandma and Grandpa, instead of having him walk with me up and down the stairs. 10,200 steps!!
3- Drink at least 8 cups of water ✅ 9 cups
4- Track everything I eat and drink ✅
5- Stay within calorie budget ✅ thanks to the extra exercise before my parents came

    @Poobah1972

    check in for 5/1:
    steps - 6542. i did a small walk.

calories - nicely under 1800. i've been eating to many snacks and dessert every night. i need to get that under control since i think my loss will slow down soon. it's bound to sooner or later and i'm thinking it's close.

exercise - small walk this morning. i was able to measure it but had to guess on the time since i paused it at a stop light and didn't start it again. i did keep up a very good pace and so i think the time is very close. i also worked on my arms with a 15 lb dumbbell for 20 minutes.

good luck to everyone in the new month. let's be on top every week. we'll show everyone how big of losers we are. lol

or those new members, my name is Rachel and I am 43. I am a married mom of two kids, one very old dog and two naughty kitties. I live in Massachusetts. I love the beach and hate the cold winters. Last year rocked my world as I have not worked since April when covid hit as I work in the travel Industry. So glad things are starting to rebound as I need to more seriously focus on getting back to work.

Last year I committed to working out more and succeeded, I am slowly and I mean very slowly losing the covid pounds. Then I need to stay the coarse and tackle the weight that crept on prior.

My weight has gone up and down my whole life. I have never been what doctors would say is a healthy weight but I have at times been more comfortable with my weight. I had lost weight but 20 lbs crept back on over the last 3 years slowly bringing me to my highest weight with the exception of being pregnant.

I have been with the group since October and really I really enjoy it. I keep coming back daily because I refuse to give up on myself and I enjoy reading about other team members journeys and the support.

    Steps 5/1 17,535
    5/2 12,315

I realized later that I posted last night on the old month page. Oh well, so I keep the day prior steps in here as well. Steps yesterday were obtained by running around looking for furniture for my new room that I renovated with my mother in law. She used to be a designer. I told her I am her biggest pain in the butt non paying customer because I am super picky. I also took my daughter to a roller skating birthday party it was so cute. I broke my no sugary snacks trial for a piece of s’mores ice cream pie but that was mostly my dinner. I plan to resume staying away from those food entirely this week again to see how it reflects on the scale.

    Weigh In Day: Sunday
    PW (Previous Weight): 119.6
    CW (Current Weight): 122.5

My parents are here 🎉💕, arrived yesterday and staying through Monday. The kids are having a blast, we only get to see them once a month. My mom’s love language is food and she is an AMAZING cook. Although I asked her not to bring anything, she said she’s bringing just a few goodies:
Pastata- it’s spaghetti that’s baked in an egg yolk (about a dozen), heavy whipping cream, Parmesan sauce. It’s sooo good and a million calories per slice.
Baked clams with Parmesan and bacon
Cheesecake that is so good that I find ways to sneak it into breakfast.
I knew yesterday’s totals were going to be high, so I did extra exercise. Today and tomorrow I won’t have access to the bike (and we won’t be able to go for a walk) so I’m going to try to get in some floor exercise and portion control again, as much as possible. I know this time with my parents is special and a gift, so I’m not going to focus on going over my calorie budget. Instead, enjoy in moderation, drink lots of seltzer, try to sneak in a salad and mini bell peppers, here and there.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. If you haven’t been told yet today, you’re doing great, you are strong enough to make healthy choices and you are beautiful 💐

For the new members - My name is Jim and I live in St. Louis, MO with my wife and two high school boys and 2 adult girls. I peaked at 240 lbs in 2019 and had a life changing moment which set me on my path to weight loss. I made great progress dropping more than 35 lbs and then COVID hit and threw me for a loop and I ended up regaining about half of my previous loss putting me at 221 lbs at the end of 2020. I'm slowly making my way back down and happy with my progress so far knowing that quick losses usually don't last.

Here are my 2021 weight loss goals:
    1) Lose at least 3 lbs every month through June and 1.5 lbs / month between July - December
    2) Reach 200 lbs by Aug 31
    3) Achieve 195 lbs by EOY (26-pound loss for the year)

Here's my Exercise Plan to get me there:
    1) Daily - 10,000 steps Goal (7,500 min)
    2) Weekly Reach an elevated heart rate for at least 20 minutes (4 days / week)
    3) Weekly – Lift weights (6 sets min for 3 days / week)
    4) Monthly – Go on at least 1 Hike

... and here's my Diet Plan:
    1) Avoid eating before 6 am and after 9 pm (daily)
    2) Track food intake and stay under my daily 2,000 net calories (after deducting exercise) at least 4 days / week and don’t exceed 2,500 calories / day (unless it’s a ‘special occasion’)
    3) Limit junk food and deserts (chips, cookies, etc.) to no more than 3 times / week and only after first having a serving of fruit or vegetable
    4) No more than 4 alcoholic drinks / week

The inspiration and support from this group has been wonderful.
