I did a small walk this morning. Hazy and humid. Chest was hurting. Heartburn type of burn.
Check in for 6/17:
Steps - 4275. Grocery store and gym. 20 min bike.
Calories - 1550. Fruit and hot air popcorn dessert.
Exercise - gym. 6 machines and bike. 16 MPH level 9
2 years ago today my wife rented an SUV and took me to the DMV. I had to use my walker to get around.
Wow!! Huge loss and exercise dayππ»ππ» way to go Roger!! So glad you got in your walk this morning and relieved that you stopped because your chest (heartburn) was hurting. Better safe. π€ Another terrific calorie day, love your choice for dessert. Now that's an impressive NSV! You've made incredible progress, absolutely amazing π€©amymartin555 wrote: Β»6/17 step count

Love that growth mindsetππππ»ππ»! You're right you WILL reach your goal π€ Let us know how you like PiYo. by the way, still so impressed that you SWIM in the pool. I usually just lounge/float.
No swimming today ... we are both very sunburned.... 30% chance of rain today ....Will let you know how I like it when I actually do it (won't be today ) I will be cleaning out the fridge and cleaning shelves and drawers of the fridge and other cleaning ....I plan on getting up early tomorrow and going on our lonnnnnnng walk ..rest on Sunday and swim on Monday .... @Megan_smartiepants1970 maybe you can help me here, i can't get the pictures loaded and i accidently made two posts. can you just delete those?

@lindamtuck2018 You can see the difference between your photos and you look younger! We are our own worst critics. I have a hard time looking at my pictures. Think we all carry around in our head a mental image of ourselves and have a hard time changing that.
@Tazaria87 Great score with the school clothes. You were in the right place at the right time. Hope you find an equally good deal for your son's school clothes. Enjoy your anniversary dinner.
@Megan_smartiepants1970 You are approaching health and fitness in a long term sustainable way. The weight loss isn't the end game but a side effect. Wishing you much success!
@rwood566 that is truly an inspirational journey of health and healing these last two years. So glad that you no longer need a walker and can walk 4+ miles if you choose.
Spent this morning picking up some of the medical transcrips. This afternoon my sister invited mom and I over to her house for a movie. I brought celery sticks and bottled water for a snack. Am under calories for today though up 2 lbs from yesterday due to water weight caused by the pancakes. It should come off in a week

I know your probably a bit miffed about that, but your obviously doing the right thing. Sorry IF didn't work out for you Megan! *hugz*5 -
Attention Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'd like to make an announcement!
I have a new favorite girl in my life. And let me tell ya, she's a piece of art to look at. Sleek, curvy and thick around the around the midsection.
When you get on top of her her, you want nothing more than to grab her by the handles and drive her firmly towards your hips, while flexing the glutes and driving your hips forward. (literally that's proper form, I swear).
It's such a satisfying motion, that you just gotta keep repeating it for every rep you can manage, before collapsing literally breathlessly.
I call her Hexy-B.... And Oh baby, what a piece of work she is. ππ€£π π€£π
What a workout.... Seriously guys, all joking aside... This TRAP BAR is AMAZING!!!! πππͺ
If you haven't used a trap bar before, and especially if you're a little (or a lot) heavy around the midsection this thing is a god send. In fact it's solved a Quintfecta (maybe 6) of issues it's got me really stoked. For real. ππ€
I did my regular leg workout. Squats, Leg Extensions, Leg Curls, Lateral Leg Raises.... All great by the way.
But then I decided it was time to pull this bad girl out, and do 2 sets of 10... The bar itself weighs 70lb and I threw on 90 more lbs for a total of 160 pounds. Not a huge amount of weight by any means, but I also weigh 400 pounds, so it will be interesting to see how heavy I can go as I shed pounds.
I believe I know what the issue is I've been struggling with doing squats up till now. I'm just to front heavy to get down low enough and still maintain my center of balance over my feet, knees and hips. Thus, I'm practically falling forward and need to compensate by collapsing my back, and or spreading my legs outward to give my girth somewhere to go. Being so off balance, I can't really muster much strength to get up as I'm fighting myself every step of the way until I get to certain point where things fall more into form. So squats have felt completely weak, and unsatisfying even though I did better today.
With this Hex bar everything changes. Since it has 2 handle heights, one normal and one raised. And since the center of Gravity is always 100 percent below you, I can hold perfect form as I lower myself enough to grab the bar properly. My Back, feet, knee's and hips are exactly where they should be. And as you begin the lift, it actually assists in centering your balance. Since my are legs shoulder width apart and not caving outward or inward, I'm fully able to activatet my quads. All of a sudden I have all the strength and power I've been missing the previous weeks. And on top of that, I'm now hitting my lower back with substancial weight, which I've been missing out on during my regular back day. Infact I did 10 reps no problem at all strength wise... If anything Cardio is coming into play, here. By the end I'm totally gassed and pouring sweat. lol
So next week I'm cutting squats from my leg day (Till I can maintain proper form in the future). And I'm moving the Hex Bar dead lifts to the number 1 exercise of the day and will be shooting for 3-4 sets of 6-10 reps, and I'll keep adding weight aggressively until I can't hit 6 reps in the final set. This will truly activate my Lower back, and push my quads to there limits. Not to mention glutes that are required with your lower back to fully straighten the back. I expect the benefits will speak for themselves over time.
And that's not all.... Leg day also happened to be the day I would hit my traps and my calves, namely doing Shrugs and Calve Raises at the tail end of the day. WELL HOLY *kitten* GUYS.... This Trap bar is once more worth it's weight in gold. I just left the bar at 160 lbs, picked it up and did 2 sets of 15 Shrugs. Huge increase from last week, cause it was so damn comfortable to do it (minus burn in my forearms from holding the bar so long). And I didn't think of it till after, but I can also use the bar in this way to do calf raises, as no matter where I stand now all the weight is directly over my feet, so I shouldn't loose balance like I was when I was attempting to do calf raises holding free weights. Do you remember recently when I mentioned the only thing I was missing in my gym was a smith type machine so I could do Shrugs and Calf raises without losing balance. Well this Bar has solved all of that too. So friggin amazing! this bar is a self contained smith machine in a sense.
And guess what? Not only do you get massive quad activation and lower back and glute activation coupled with a powerful trap and calf builder.... The fact you need to use your hands to hold all this weight for so long for all of these exercises means your forearms and grip will 100% be growing just to keep up with it. I guess we will ultimate see how heavy I can go, and if my grip strength will be able to keep up. ππͺ
So yes, all joking aside, this bar is a quintessential part of our gym... And for any of you large around the center, this bar allows you to make amazing headway on your Legs, Lower back, and glutes, where proper form is just impossible for large individuals. So if you have a home Gym, and you are serious about doing something that will 100% improve your game in a safe and efficient way, that also makes you feel great about your work out. A Hex bar is a 5 star recommendation.
That's a huge long read... I know. But it's need to know stuff for someone out there. I think I once again love Leg day, maybe as much as Lynn. π
And what a calorie burn...
And let me tell you I ate a lot to day to power me through it... Totally worked energy wise, and for my post workout reward I ate HALF an ENTIRE LOW CARB PIZZA, and had my SECOND CREAM FILLED KETO DONUT of the day.... It's Crazy I tell you... CRAZY.
With that.... I must go to sleep. lol Good night everyone. π€π€π€7 -

So...I thought I was finally able to restrain myself. Nope, not even close. I've stayed away from Krispy Kreme donuts for, wow, I don't even remember the last time I had one. I've stayed away because I have this problem. I eat one, and it disappears so quickly that I eat another. Now, I'm full, because I also down a full glass of milk with the donuts. My hand involuntarily grabs a third, and it's gone. Belly is beginning to ache. I tell myself to stop. My son, reminds me that my belly is going to hurt if eat another one. Yet, I grab a fourth. Now, even as I type this, with a full and aching belly, I want to grab another one. This is why I've stayed away.
Here is what I've learned. From now on, we buy donuts and eat them there. We don't bring them home with us. I only get to eat one, because I only buy one.6 -

Those KK are like that. I think you've come up with the perfect plan though! We can't be perfect, but we don't want to make the same mistakes (don't really want to call it a mistake) again and again. So, this was a learning experience. Now you know what to do!
@Poobah1972
You are really killing it! I love that you and Lynn work out together. That is such a good thing. Your gym is really nice. Love that new contraption you got! Thirty minutes on the elliptical is fantastic! Well done on getting eight hours of sleep. I can't tell you the last time I've gotten that much sleep. It really makes such a difference though!
@lindamtuck2018
Wow, Linda! I agree with the others. You absolutely look younger and much more vibrant in the new picture! I love your spirit. I love that you keep on going. Keep up the great work!
@Megan_smartiepants1970
Glad you're going to change things up a bit. You are working so hard, so I know it is frustrating to see that scale go up. I hope that with your changes you'll see the scale start to move down.3 -
I'm honestly not too sure where I am with my steps this week so here's just the copy/paste from the group challenge!
13/6- 15,106
14/6- 9,138
15/6- 6,129
16/6- 8,344
17/6- 5,051
18/6- 11,549
19/6- TBD
Honestly the weekly challenge has been SO GOOD for me! Even on my days off, and when I wasn't feeling 100% I still pushed myself a little further to get more steps in! Tomorrow to hit the 70k challenge, I need to get in about 14,600 (and change) steps in. Which is pretty damn impressive considering my step goal is pretty low, to account for my days off and needing to be sitting and studying.
I have a walked planned with a good friend of mine tomorrow, so that should get some steps in for me!
Hope everyone is having a great week!6 -

Happy to see a comeback from the negligible loss last week!5 -
@Megan_smartiepants1970 I'm sorry. That must be so aggravating. I think you have the right idea in changing up your exercise. Our bodies adapt to what we do a lot, so you may not be burning nearly the same way you used to. Maybe try adding ankle weights? Also, I NEVER trust what apps and devices say the calorie burn was - they're notoriously inflated.5
-
Check in for 6/18
Steps - 8188. I would have liked about 4k more.
Calories - about 1570. I just looked at it and already forgot. At least I'm remembering to log everything, I think.
Exercise - early morning walk. Fitbit said 2.75 miles but I didn't use google maps, so 2.75 it is. 55 minutes. Daughter wants to hit the gym in the a.m. maybe I'll walk around the block instead of going in the gym.
The fiasco earlier with my pics got me frustrated and as a result I made bad food choices at lunch. I worked my dinner around to stay under. 0 cal tea instead of milk, no cheese on the burger, no sauce on the bun. I was upset with my lunch choices all afternoon.7 -
@Megan_smartiepants1970 sorry you are stopping that. Hopefully you will be able to come back to it later.
Nice weigh ins again, everyone. Good losses or minor gains. Those gains will melt away. Especially in this heat.
I was able to put my pics up on my feed but they mysteriously get enlarged if I put them here. I have to be doing something wrong.4 -

Good Saturday Morning Everyone, π
I'll keep it short this morning.
SLEEP SUCKED - I had a total of 4 hours and 31 minutes. Johnny Tired. π ππ
And for Cardio I went for a hard but short scoot on the Elliptical. The way I see it, the lack of sleep and Leg day yesterday, and the fact were about to go out shopping, and I have a cabinet to assemble and install on a wall (IN THE EXERCISE ROOM hehe) immediately after that. Oh and were having a family over for a BBQ later. I've got enough work on the agenda today, and in the grand scheme of things, I had a pretty fantastic week.
So yea just 15 minutes on the Elliptical, and a trip upstairs... I think I sort of sat on the bed staring off into space for a few minutes before I remembered to stop the timer. lol. Other than that, the Fitbit seems to have worked fantastic. Also knowing I was going for half the time; I really increased my pace and difficulty. "FUN FUN FUN" (translates to holy copious amounts of sweat batman).
Okay I better go figure out my nutrition for the day, and get going. Got stuff to do yo!
Have an amazing day everyone... ππ

Great snack choice! It is funny the things that cause water weight. You should see the weight drop pretty fast.
@Poobah1972
I think you should sell memberships to your gym. Great workout! Ok enough with the pictures. I am now craving pizza at 8 am. All kidding aside, the pizza looks yummy.
@TheresaM787
I am so glad krispy kreme closed in London. Now I only have to contend with them if the kids sell them in a fundraiser. You have a great plan going forward.
@iradi8
Awesome steps for the week!
@littleflutterby
Wow! Look at those steps. I found the challenge helpful this week also. I am confident that you can get your steps today. It is going to be a hot one today so take lots of water on your walk.
@Aqualang26
Amazing loss!
@rwood566
I just peeked at the feed and your transformation is unbelievable. Inspiring! Great check in. I really like that you adjusted your food for the rest of the day to make up for your lunch. It would have been so easy to just continue to eat bad for the rest of the day.
