Poor guy. I hope he doesn't get it! I feel bad when my friends and sisters in the Lord aren't doing well. I will be praying you get healthy quickly!

I'm going to start a sitting down exercise program today. I thought about walking, but that is hard on my breathing and on my back right now, but my pastor's wife suggested doing a sitting regimen! Duh. That never occurred to me! I did have a peanut butter cookie (home made) this morning, but eating otherwise has been alright!

This cold is the first thing that has just laid me low since 2019. I got in the scales this morning and was exactly where I was before getting sick. I have been eating within range, but basically empty calories and I haven't gotten any exercise at all...except coughing. I am really missing my walks!

I have a feeling once you feel better that weight will come right back down. If you are drinking more, that could just be water weight too.

I did the MedMD symptom checker and it gave the three choices that were likely and bacterial pneumonia was the only one that made sense; the other two were asthma and emphysema both of which I know that I don't have. So…

I did work out yesterday with some stretch bands and weights. I think I'm just going to do the weights, the bands were a lot of trouble and Wade and to stay with me to help with those the whole time. Walking will have to wait until I am over the pneumonia.

I got word yesterday that my NP has set up an MRI to check my pancreas - woohoo. I had thought they had forgotten about it. I don't have any symptoms that things have worsened so it should all look fine. I hated this MRI because they put some kind of weighty device on my abdomen and then I have to take a deep breath and hold it which this thing is moving around on my lungs. I tried not to let air out last time and moved too much, so this time. I'll hold it but not fight it going out either. I was trying to hold my breath last night with a full breath or with my breath let out, but with my lung issues right now I couldn't hold it either way! Right after the first time I tried it letting out my breath and could hold it longer that way, but they may need full lungs to get the picture; like doing an ultrasound (from the outside) on the uterus needs a full bladder - that ain't fun at all! Well, that was educational! LOL!

Hope you are able to rest today, Connie. Praying for you!

Miss you, Carole! Hope all is well with you, Cindy. Are you at a new job?

    Love y'all!

I actually slept last night! I don't know if it was due to new med I added, digging out the wedge pillow to use, or because I am actually getting better, but all in all, it doesn't matter…I slept! When I got up this morning, my nose started running. That's much better than it being clogged. I still have a burning throat and burning ears, but the cough seems gone, and I have blown 2 gallons from my nose, so it must be better. I actually combed my hair, put on a tad of make-up, took just a little walk (.68 mile), and put a load of clothes in the washer.

Woohoo! Praise the Lord you are doing better! I used to go through a ton of tissues before I started taking the mold free coffee. If anyone has a fix for a phlegmy throat (constant drainage) and clogged ears, let me know. My nose is fine, just some drainage when my allergy pill is wearing down. I'm using Fluticasone Propionate and saline spray to thin it out, and am taking Genexa Allergy (a natural brand) which is a decongestant as well, but none of that seems to be helping very much.

I worked out a bit yesterday with my 3lb weights. I was sitting down but still started having trouble breathing. My breathing is somewhat better today, catching it more easily. Tomorrow afternoon is the end of my antibiotics for the possible pneumonia. A friend of ours is graduating from high school (home school) tomorrow and the family has invited the Church family and some of their friends to celebrate with them. I should be safe to go and am looking forward to it.

I had another rough day yesterday, but today I am almost back to my normal energy, but still have the sore scratchy throat and itchy ears. I do believe that I will live. I haven't taken a walk today because I've not wanted to over-do. I went to see mom for the first time since last Saturday. I wouldn't hug her, or get too close, but at least was able to visit for a few minutes.

I weighed in again this morning and have lost a wholloping 4/10 of a pound. At least I am going the right direction again…got off that plateau.

Nothing like getting sick to slide off that plateau! I'm glad you are on an upward swing. Yesterday was a bad day for me too. I had trouble with my breathing as well as with coughing. I'm doing better today, not quite as much of either. Will just keep taking it easy and resting and hoping that whatever is in my lungs will be dealt with by the Lord, because I do not want to go through a bunch of tests to figure out what it is. The antibiotics didn't work well if it is pneumonia, so I think my body is adapting to them because I've taken so many over the past year and a half! It's in the Lord's hands and He is the great Physician, so no place better!

I haven't walked except the short walk last Thursday. My energy level has been nil. The last couple of days we have had constant rain, so even if I had felt good, the rain wasn't going to allow the walk. I am definitely getting better, but still low on energy and the sinus issues are weird and not really getting a lot better - but also not really stopping me.

There have been a lot of storms across the country recently. We've been blessed to be on the edge of most of it rather than having it hit us. We do have rain today though, again, a blessing since it was a bit dry here. I've been praying for y'all in the path of these really bad storms!

I had a good day yesterday. My legs got a little wonky now and then, but the breathing was much better and no coughing until I laid down last night. Slight issues this morning, but I'm heading out of whatever it was I did have. Still taking it easy since I do not want to relapse!

We had storms come through here last week... this tree broke nearly in half

WOW! So glad that it didn't come down on your house! We have had rain, and rain, and more rain, but no really bad storms. The storm activity has managed to come close, but miss KC for the most part. I'm trying to get grass started on an area in the back of our house. The owners before us had a couple of bushes that were way too large for our HOA and needed to come out, and they had a bunch of mulch, but no liner under it to keep weeds and grass from coming up through it. I had all of it removed last year and have tried to get grass going there. If I can get it to semi-blend with the yard, the HOA will mow. Right now, I am weed-eating it when needed. I would say that I am probably 30% grass, so it's getting there. Even if I have to continue to weed-eat due to the air conditioner, a stump, and a big rock, it will look much better than it has since we moved in. We never use the back of the house, so I'm not doing anything that I really need to take care of.

I got a very short walk (7/10 mile) yesterday, and went to see Mom for a few minutes. I will get my energy back someday! We did cheat big-time last night for dinner…and snacks. I'm back to being good today.

Sometimes you just gotta have those cheat days. I've had a couple this week! Eek, but am holding at 236-237 right now.

Will do my 3lb weights and upper body today. If my breathing is fine with that I'll add a few house laps.

We had a storm last night with gushes of rain. It just rained again a few minutes ago, gushing, and then just quit! We are supposed to have around 95% chance of rain today, so I expect there will be more.

This has been a great spring! Back in Atlanta, the temps were like summertime in May or even earlier, so east TN weather has been a blessing. Gentle showers occasionally and upper 60s most of the week. I walked in the neighborhood today, hoping to gradually increase my distance. Also trying to drink more water.

So good to see you, Carole. We are getting into the hot and muggies her on the coast! We have an oscillating fan on the screened in porch so we can sit out there! I've been getting my "hot flashes" again. I was fine through the winter, but now I will be sitting in my living room and just start sweating. Turn on the fan! Even though the AC is on too. Wade asks me all the time if I want the fan on because he never knows when that hot flash will come. LOL! I have my special seat at the Net House that has all three AC units blowing on me, and our Pastor will even face a fan towards me if I get too hot! (Our building is metal, so it takes a bit to cool it down.)

I am working on getting more water as well, but it is also meaning I am up two or three times during the night to go to the restroom, and that's adding just 12-16 oz more! I did buy clean decaf coffee this time so the coffee will count as a liquid rather than a diuretic.

I did do an upper body workout with my three pound weights yesterday, although I didn't get a walk in. Last night I started having more aching in my chest and trouble catching my breath. I was practicing for my MRI where I have to take in a deep breath and then hold it, and that started the breathing issues! Having some issues this morning and an aching in my chest, so will just take it easy, I want to be in services tomorrow!

I have done 1.5 miles the last two days. I'm so glad to be getting my stamina back after having whatever it was that caught me...bad stuff for almost 2 weeks, and it's still lingering in my throat and ears.

I took a quick short route walk yesterday and today…probably half of my normal. I didn't want to be gone with someone else watching Bill.

I didn't have to start work until noon yesterday so in the morning I walked a mile to Marshall's (and then a mile back!) to buy a shirt because I realized I hadn't packed enough to have something clean to fly home in.

My foot was a little achy towards the end of the walk, but not too bad. It's taken almost a year but it's finally on the mend.

Whoo-hoo for you, Cindy. Awesome! I did some house laps today and found my lungs weren't happy with me doing that. It wasn't bad, I just had to breathe like I was running! My torn glut didn't like it either. I did four or five laps, more than I've done in a long time!

I didn't get a walk of any kind in today. I could have gotten one this afternoon, I guess, but I didn't even think about it. I walked to the main road and back to pick up garage sale signs, so maybe a quarter of a mile. I didn't even have my phone in my pocket to count the steps. Today was a total cheat day, but I will be back on track tomorrow.

After my weekend I weigh 235.4, so I need to get back on the downward slope eating well this week. I'm going to work in my weights again and some walking. I'm still having breathing issues so I'll do as much as my lungs will allow! I'm hoping I'll hear my MRI results in a day or two and my CT scan will be on the 29th. Still no news about getting an appointment with a radiologist. I sent a note to my NP telling her of the trouble I'm having with both the rheumatologist's office and my orthopedics' office, neither really responding. They send a message but don't follow up! I shouldn't have to be the one doing all the foot work! Oh well, it's in God's hands now, well, it always was, but I'm taking my hands off of it for now!

Well, a bit of a slide backwards after the cheat on Saturday. Hopefully the walks and watching calories will get me back on track.

Yesterday walk 1.25 mile. Today 1.8 including at mom's and a bit of shopping. The walk was probably a little over 1.5, but I've not walked that exact route before.

I ordered a weighted vest to walk in and do some exercises. It's supposed to help with bone strengthening. We'll see... it should be delivered today, so I'll try it out when I get back home

  • connierandel
    connierandel Posts: 2,409 Member

Let us know how the vest goes. I would worry about it in the heat and humidity of a KS summer, but would be good now and autumn or milder days of winter.

  • cmsienk
    cmsienk Posts: 20,662 Member

Will do. I agree - I don't think I'd be able to use it in the heat/humidity in, say, August in Michigan, but I think I could use it for working out in my air conditioned home and then in fall and spring…

I did some house walking and upper body exercises yesterday. As soon as I'm done here I'll try and get some walking and weight work done.

I got a mile in this morning. I knew I would have to cut short due to heat. The mile was doable, but if it was any less breeze, higher temp or humidity, it would need to be the basic circle. I can't get out much earlier when I go see mom.

Whew, the little spike in the scale was just a day thing, I guess. I am now showing about a half pound loss over the previous weigh-in.

My breathing has been bad the last two or three days so I haven't been doing much. I called the doctor who referred me to a rheumatologist and asked them to refer me to someone else so they did that. I haven't heard yet from the new people, but it's only been two days.

Hot and muggy here, may be what is causing the breathing issues.

We talked about the Nephilim last night during Bible Study. Gen 6:1-7 says nothing about angels or demons. It talks about sons of God, which are those who follow God; and the daughters of men are those who do not follow God. Over and over and over we see "men" or "man" (meaning a male or humanity) but nowhere is the term angel or demon used. In satan's battle to overthrow God, 1/3 of the "angels" fell with him and they became demons. There isn't any other falling of angels mentioned in Scriptures and the angels that are called sons of God wouldn't disobey God. Angels are incapable of having sexual relations for they are neither male nor female - so it could not mean angels had sex with females - what a gross and perverted idea! I've seen quite a few novels with this theme and I always avoid them, but for some reason it is an idea that is becoming more popular with so-called "Christian" churches. Ick! Because it's become a popular theme again (it was back in the 80's and 90's as well) it's something our pastor warns against - he keeps watch over our souls!

I got a couple smaller walks in today. Bill wanted to sit in the garage to enjoy the cooler weather today. I decided on a short walk while he was enjoying sitting there. After I brought him in, I did another short one...really muggy on that one.

I ate something less than fully healthy… but it was so good! Backtracking…. the food provided here hasn't been great and there haven't been a lot of gluten free options for me (last night I ate a yogurt and popcorn in my hotel room). Anyway, a co-worker and I found a place we wanted to try. She had the eggs benedict while I had a gluten free corn waffle, yum! Then we walked around Beverly Hills (thankfully I feel very safe here) for about 90 minutes… hopefully that took care of some of those calories.
