Daily Check In: Are You On Track Today?

Shari, My heart aches for animals in need and distress. Are there any no-kill cat rescues in your area that might step up to save this precious life? I follow closely here quite a few rescues that do amazing things to keep their animals alive and well, often at great expense. I hope you are able to find a safe place for this cat to go.
I had an extremely good day again, both for eating/tracking and accomplishments. Once again I was well rested. I worked for several hours in my room and in John's room moving around our seasonal clothing. Often/usually I have John help me with such tasks, but today I felt strong and motivated enough to do this on my own. It required me to move and walk (with my cane and/or walker) much more than on a typical day. Walking with these devices and carrying clothing is challenging but over the years I have developed a few strategies that help me do these things. I am very pleased with how well I did and how easily things went for me. After doing this work I also cooked a healthy supper of chicken breasts, rice, and brussels sprouts. Now I am ready to relax for the rest of the evening. My plans for tomorrow are not as demanding as today's chores.

All of our rescue centres are full and not accepting cats. We were lucky that a friend of a friend pulled some strings so we could drop off this cat. We told them to call us first if they have to euthanize the cat, I don't it deserves that after surviving so long outside on it's own. I hope it has a chip and is reunited with it's owner.
That is so good that you accomplished so much Paula and a healthy dinner too. That is so good.
I visited my FIL in hospital and he although he is weak and sore, mentally he was much better. Jim took Walter to see Tony and that wasn't so good. Tony is seeing things and talking to people not there. Jim said I wouldn't recognize Tony right now. He is not the same person. That really broke Walter's heart. I hope Walter won't lose heart just yet.0 -
Happy to read that Jim's dad is doing better and so sorry about the set back with Tony. I wonder if some of his hallucinations are related to any particular meds they might have given him. I saw that happen with my dad. After he stopped getting the meds (in the hospital), his hallucinations went away and never returned.
Thank heavens for your friend who helped facilitate saving the cat. You are so kind to offer to save it from euthanasia! I hope he is chipped and returned to his family. I am such a lover of animals I would have many more if my health allowed that.
I had another really good day. I weighed in and am down 5 pounds since my last weigh in about 2 weeks ago. That really surprised me because, while I have had some very good days, I also had some off plan days. I expected to see little, if any, loss this time.

Hi Again! I forgot to share that I was gong to a youth worker conference this past weekend.
I was reading about what can cause hallucinations and medications can definitely be the cause. I hope Tony is able to get the care he needs in the hospital and can return to the way he was. He is such a bad way right now. He took a turn for the worse on Saturday night and was brought to Edmonton so he can receive better care. We will be able to visit him more often with this move.
I would be happy with a five pound weight loss Paula! I think that if I stepped on the scale I would a increase of 5 pounds. I did not eat well this past week. Are you a little worried about the loss?0 -
Praying that Tony bounces back to his regular self. Your visits to him will certainly be a boost for him.
I hope my weight loss is a result of my efforts paired with some days when I wasn't very hungry. I am not sure if something else is going on yet. I don't weigh very often because of my balance issues. I will try to step on the scale again when I feel confident I won't fall. WW says losing 2 pounds per week is very good. John and I had our haircuts today. I didn't want to cook when we got home as I was pretty tired so we ordered a veggie pizza which was great. John will have the leftover pizza tomorrow and I'll go back to my salmon for our evening meal.

Two more days until we leave for Mexico for two weeks. I am not ready as we have been so busy. I will have to use this evening to get everything in order. Tomorrow is my long day, so it has to be today. If I can't leave the house in good shape, no one will be around to see it anyway.
Paula! Glad you got your haircuts. I went and had a mani/pedi. It was wonderful and the appt was so relaxing. Then I met with a youth to help her with a church project.
I did okay with my eating, but I can guarantee my protein intake should have been higher. I didn't track. I will today.0 -
Shari, woo hoo for your upcoming trip to Mexico. Getting away in a relaxing setting is so very healthy! Will miss you while you are away. But looking forward to reading about how you enjoyed your vacation.
I had a very stressful day today. Waste water backed up from the outgoing pipes and flooded part of our basement. This was discovered when I called a plumber because our toilets were gurgling. The plumber was great and took care of the problem by opening up the pipe that leads to the street for water waste. He also gave me the name of a company that does clean up of such problems. I will have to contact my homeowners insurance tomorrow and the damage is severe enough to warrant an insurance claim. The clean up company came today and will return tomorrow morning. The company owner says this could take days to complete. In the midst of all of this I got a call/message from the women's imaging center telling me there was a cancellation. I returned the call to the woman the but she was not at her desk. I left a message for her with another human, but she never called me back. I called again before they closed but was on hold for so long with no human taking the call. I am praying she will call me Wednesday morning and that I can get in sooner.

You had a very stressful day Paula! That is not a good time when the sewer backs up. It happens enough that there are companies out there to assist with the clean up. What a gift it will be if you can get in for that cancelation appt.
I think that I am packed and ready to go on the vacation. Today is my full day, so I don't have any more time to prepare for it at home. Everything fit into the suitcase, so that was wonderful. Just need to throw in the toiletries tomorrow.
I weighed in today, and I was up. I hope to be back down to where I was by the end of today. If not, my goal is to lose two pounds while I am away. Which is possible since I won't be working out and will lose muscle. I will focus on eating fresh and getting lots of steps in. Losing weight is doable since we are not at an all inclusive resort this time. It will be nice to not have food available all day long.

Safe travels to you Shari! Enjoy this time away.
Good progress today with the basement. The mitigation company spent the day here cleaning. They project that they will finish by Friday. The insurance adjuster came today too, a very nice and helpful man. I think we are in good hands and will be treated fairly.

I got up earlier than I usually do for work, but I have time to do a part of my morning routine. I am back home on Dec 4, and for sure will be checking in starting Dec 5. If I get a chance while I am away, I will.
Jim's dad got a bed in St. Albert (close to where we live) and we are so so thankful. Thank you for praying Paula. God had mercy on us. If you would still like to pray for him, I would ask that you help his dad to tell Jim that he loves him. He just can't/won't do it. Jim has never heard his dad say those words. Yesterday he told his dad that he loved him (which he does) and asked his dad if he could say it back. His dad said that he didn't need to (meaning that Jim knows that he does). I feel for Jim, it would mean a lot if he could hear those words before his dad passes. I have no idea what could keep a man from telling his son that he loves him, but there must be something.0 -
I will definitely pray for Jim's dad to tell Jim that he loves him. And I will also pray for Jim to cope with this difficult and disappointing situation.
I got good news today. The imaging center called again and gave me an appointment for Dec. 15 at an imaging center that is closer to my home. Such a relief! Prayers answered. I immediately contacted Craig, and he put the appointment on his calendar. He doesn't know yet what the appointment is for, but I could tell he was concerned about this. I will explain it to him next time I see him. I had a fairly productive day today too. I wrapped up another project for our church group and also cleaned out a "snack" cupboard in our kitchen. I was also on track within my points today. My hunger level is much lower most of these days, not sure if it is anxiety related or something else that I don't know.

Hello! Paula, congrats on the weight loss! I’m so happy that prayers have been answered with an appointment that is sooner and closer! Shari, I hope you have a wonderful vacation! I’m so happy that your FIL was able to get into a place close to you. I will be praying for him and your DH.
I’ve been going to the gym and dog classes and am hoping to get another chunk of Christmas shopping done tomorrow. We will have a small Thanksgiving with DD and she is going to AK for Christmas with her brother. That’s the latest from me. Have a good weekend!!0 -
I started a little (very little) bit of Christmas shopping today. I ordered 2 games (one for John's Godson and one for his younger brother). At least it is a start. It's tough because the younger brother has a November birthday so I have to find gifts for his birthday and for him for Christmas. One of my friends and I decided that instead of exchanging gifts we will donate money to dog rescues. I would like to do more of that but with the kids gifts are still a big deal. John says he doesn't want/need anything, but of course I have to have some gifts for him for Christmas. My eating was way off today. I didn't track anything either. The mitigation guys are still working on the basement. It is very disruptive but work that must be done. They have been here since Tuesday. I think they will finish by tomorrow. I sure hope so.

Happy to be back on track today, within points and feeling good. Accomplished a lot around the house. Most of the basement work is completed. The guys will return briefly (I hope) on Monday afternoon to finish up.

Hello! I’m happy that your basement is almost done! Also happy that you were back on track yesterday! My weight was down yesterday but up 1.2 lbs today. I know it’s all water ups and downs but still so frustrating!
Yesterday I watched an afternoon football game while wrapping some gifts and then did a little shopping. Also, we got our Christmas photo proofs and were able to create our cards and order them. We were very pleased with them and also ordered some prints for us. Today I went to church and then did a Costco run with my DD. I’m trying to find the energy to do more wrapping. Some things I ordered for my grandsons were delivered today and I hope to mail their gifts shortly after Thanksgiving. Have a great Monday!0 -
DW, Wonderful that your Christmas proofs pleased you. Such photos are treasures in my opinion. I admire you for doing Christmas wrapping. I do very little wrapping and resort to gift bags as much as possible. Wrapping sure does require a lot of energy. Today was mostly restful for me. I stayed on plan again with tracking, but my points were higher than I originally aimed for. The day seemed to breeze by quickly again. I have a minimal to do list for Monday, so I should be able to accomplish it easily. The mitigation guys are to come around noon tomorrow and finish up everything. I will be very happy to have my routine back to normal. It is difficult for me to adhere to my typical routine with the workers here all day long.

Hello! Paula, I hope the work is completed on schedule!! I had a run of good luck yesterday on my midday break from work. Several appointments needed to be scheduled and I can’t call during work so I finally made myself do them on that break. All 3 appointments were scheduled for times that work with my schedule and within the next two weeks- when does that ever happen?? This coming Friday I take my car in for an oil change and check up. Right before that I will stop at the local hospital to get fasting bloodwork done and then get coffee and food on the way to the car place. The car place was my 1st phone call on Monday and I was shocked that they could see me so soon. I’ve made good food choices today and went to the gym after work so we’ll see what tomorrow brings. Have a happy Wednesday!!

DW, You are very fortunate that your appointments got scheduled at convenient and prompt times! I think that is a rare occurrence in general and definitely rare for me! Good for you for doing well with eating and getting to the gym. My food choices today were not so good. It was one of those days when nothing seemed to satisfy me, and unfortunately I kept trying to find something else which added many unwanted points to my day. I was well rested so I cannot attribute my cravings to that. Just one of those days I guess. All of the mitigation work in the basement is completed now. I will wait a while before fixing things up down there. I am hoping Craig will do most of the work.

Happy to report that today was the opposite of yesterday. Today I was completely on track, logged all I ate, and kept below my point range. I was also very productive in getting ready for cooking Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. I also got a lot of household chores completed. Never sure why one day can be so different from another.
Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to you DW and your family!

Enjoyed a day of healthy eating and some relaxing. I had a grocery delivery and was very pleased with the sale prices on the items purchased. I have been focusing on buying foods that are healthy, on sale, and low in WW points, except for treats for John of course. I think I won't even need to get groceries delivered in the coming week. That will be a welcome break. Of course that could change, knowing me!

Hello! I hope that you had a nice Thanksgiving! Ours was pretty quiet this year. DD came over for the meal. On Friday I did a routine fasting blood test and saw the results on the computer… I don’t know if doing it the day after Thanksgiving was a good choice because a couple of things were up that shouldn’t be and have never been high before. I don’t see my doctor until February but might call and ask about the results. After that, my van had to go into the shop and goes again on Friday. The rest of the weekend was spent at a Scentwork trial. My dogs did very and I worked the rest of the time. That is all the news from me. Have a great Monday!

Hello! Just a quick note tonight. Are you having snow? We had some over the weekend and are expecting 2”-4” by morning. It has already started…I purchased some “cleats” that strap on my boots after work today. Ever since my fall last January, I’ve become very fearful while on ice.🧊
Eating was good today but tomorrow will be homemade turkey potpie made by DH. I will plan to have a smaller portion. Nothing else is new here. I hope you have a good Tuesday!

How did you make out with calling your doctor about your blood tests? I hope you got some good answers. We are expecting snow for Tuesday, but likely it will change to rain in early afternoon. I sure understand fear of falling on the slippery surfaces. With my mobility issues I am at high risk so I almost never venture out even on our own property. The really scary thing for me is John walking with lofstrand (arm) crutches when he walks Buster. I really hate winter! I did ok with food today but still could have done better with my healthy choices. I am looking forward to grilled salmon tomorrow which always satisfies me. John, Buster, and I went out today to the drive thru bank just a few miles from our home. It was cold but sunny here, and I needed to deposit a check. I was proud of myself for doing fairly well walking to the garage and then back into the house…and glad the banking was taken care of too. We have dentist appointments on Wednesday. Craig is supposed to help us with that trip, but he has been scarce lately, not sure what he is really up to.

Today's precipitation was a true wintry mix: snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain, an all around horrible weather day. John was able to get Buster to the base of our entrance ramp and sit on a chair there for Buster to do his business. But Buster got caught on some roots sticking out of the ground, and I had to call our neighbor Blaine to come to help untangle him. Thank God Blaine was home! My anxiety level is pretty high today, partly because of the dental appt. tomorrow (and wondering if Craig will show up) and partly as the date for my diagnostic mammo approaches (Dec. 14). I've been mostly ok about it until today. I think the weather has something to do with this too as I tend to worry that we will have bad weather when I need to go for the mammo. On a brighter note, my eating was right on target today and I had no hunger pangs or cravings. Sometimes I lose my appetite when I get anxious. I am sure I will settle down soon.

Hello! I’m glad that your neighbor was able to help with Buster! Did you get to the dentist yesterday? I hope that worked out! I ended up not calling the Dr. I’ve been dealing with a runny nose and tight, frequent cough. I’ve been dragging through the work day but canceled on one of my favorite holiday activities- the holiday dinner and auction at the kennel club which was tonight. This illness is a repeat of what I had in the fall and I had some medicine left so started it last night and I think it’s helping.
I hope to get 2 Christmas packages mailed on Saturday and will feel better once that happens! Have a wonderful Friday!0 -
DW, So sorry you had to miss your holiday dinner at the kennel club. I'd say it was a wise decision to skip it given your symptoms. Best to rest is a favorite phrase of mine! We did get to the dentist with Craig's help. Craig isn't doing well as he has back pain and other ailments. It was clear that he wasn't himself. He plans to see a chiropractor for the back pain, but I think he needs to pay attention to other issues including a hernia he has had for some time. I had an NSV when going to the dentist. I wore a winter jacket that I hadn't worn since last winter. At that time the jacket was quite snug. When I wore it on Wednesday it was actually loose and comfortable. I was surprised and thrilled.Today I did well with my food and tracking. Now to repeat this on Friday.

Hello! I am back from a wonderful vacation. We have created many wonderful memories, and my top one was seeing grey whales while on a boat tour! I have today off (we got home at 2am) and I am thankful to have a long weekend to get settled back into things.
I have read all of your updates, and it's good hear to things seem to be going fairly well.I will step on the scale on Sunday so I can give my body a couple of days to settle in to a regular diet and recover from our travel day. I am so grateful to have shared this trip with my DH and 6 other friends. How very wonderful!

Welcome back Shari! Sounds like a dream vacation for sure. How exciting to see grey whales on the boat tour! Wise planning to have the weekend to allow a few days to ease in to your standard routine. I look forward to learning more about your wonderful vacation.
I had another excellent day for eating and tracking my food. My appetite has been minimal on some days, and today was one of those days. I wasn't even tempted to have a cookie with John today while he was enjoying a snack. I had one fairly major to do item today and am pleased I got it all done. Tomorrow I have a similar task on my calendar and am optimistic that I will get that one done too.
