Happy 4th July to everyone celebrating!2 -
Happy 4th of July to all our members from the USA! I hope you all have a lot of fun, some good exercise, and yummy stuff. One of my fellow Moderators, @Beka3695 just ran in the Peachtree footrace in Atlanta - it looks like it is a gorgeous sunny day there, probably hot as heck, but she hit the finish line about a half hour ago. Sounds to me like a great way to celebrate. I wish some of the sunny would travel up here, though...
Well, team - we had a great week indeed! I just finished up the tallies and we are #2! Beka won't be able to do the announcements until tomorrow, so I'll give you a sneak preview - 🧐
As a team we lost 15.6 pounds - not a huge amount, but good stuff. This is among 25 people, so an average of 0.6 pounds per person. Let's aim a bit higher for this coming week! Someone has to give those danged Downsizers a run for their money. They lost 31.7 pounds with the same number of people 😮
Our top 3 amazing losers for this week were:
@eggfreak - also 3rd overall out of 147 people!! Hats off! I think you are back ON the horse!
@ashleycarole86 - our top for #of pounds lost - bravissima!
@MandiSaysHey - you came back and are inspiring everyone!
Let's not lose the momentum. Good food and tracking, get moving, and have a great week

Oh also... Would anyone with an apple watch like to be my friend on the fitness app? I set my Cal to 600 on the 1st. I have yet to make that goal! ha! Setting goals.
Can I join the step group @jugar1 -

You certainly can join the step group! Report steps and any other intentional exercise (which gets converted to equivalent steps just to make things simple) and you're on. Start today, weeks run Sunday - Saturday. Report as often as you like, but latest by Sunday for the previous week. Great to have you there!2 -
Greetings Peeps!
So I went out on a practice walk this lunchtime in the pouring rain! I put my anorak on, pulled up my big girl pants and ventured out. "It could just as easily rain on the day of the event in September, so I may as well get used to walking in the rain", that's what I said to myself when I started out. But it kept raining. And raining. And after an hour, even after I thought that I couldn't get any wetter - it turned out that I could! And I got cold and the more cold I got, the more miserable I got.
So I called Ben and asked him to pick me up - I didn't even have the energy or the wherewithal to walk home!
Got home, got changed, got a coffee and now I feel much better.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks!6 -
Speaking of the step team - send in your numbers for this past week, if you have not already done so -
@Kali225 - Tuesday through Saturday
@ashleycarole86 and @MandiSaysHey just Saturday

I did it! Finally. After a hug yesterday, my husband said, "It feel like you lost around your waist." I tried to hold my weekend gain down last weekend, but I still got up to 158.5. I did not snack the last 2 nights, so that helped.4 -

Sunday is long walk day for us if we don't have plans that prevent it, and today we did a nearly flat 10.5 miles - longest walk so far this year. We did stop at a cafe for breakfast but skipped lunch. We managed to miss the weather, having had a couple of thunderstorms this afternoon, and I (unexpectedly) caught some sun. 10 miles seems to be a comfortable distance when walking then I find myself crashing when we get home so this afternoon has been about rest more than anything else.1 -

Sorry for the late weigh in, I'm in an absolutely miserable mood today. Just woke up like that and haven't been able to shake it.5 -
Happy 4th of July to all the USA teammates 😀
@jugar I absolutely love the picture of your son 💗 That is definitely a keeper and I bet he doesn't mind at all that you shared it with us!😁
@DD265 Great job! It's nice to have those pictures to see how much you really have changed. Sometimes it can feel like things are not changing and it's nice to remind ourselves that they actually are.
I am going to cut it close on the calories today. I will try to control myself with the homemade potato salad... sheesh! Got a nice walk in with my doggie this afternoon. Was hoping to do pilates too but my husband took a nap about the time I was going to exercise. My reformer won't fit anywhere else in the house except our room. My tower is stored under the bed. Fingers crossed for later!4 -
What a beautiful day - even if cool and cloudy. I had a great walk with a friend, and we also went to a local ceramics exhibit - 30 artists' works were displayed in a beautiful village green nearby. I bought a wonderfully whimsical mug to enjoy my coffee in something less boring.
Sunday peeps, you are, as always, fabulous and there without reminders. Only one person left for today! @once_mas
Monday? Here is the list:
@DD265
@graceojo999
@lovethyneighbor
@MandiSaysHey
Off we go!4 -
Brad and I were just in Red Deer at one of our favorite parks and the rain absolutely started coming down in sheets. I was soaked right through my jacket and tshirt by the time I got back to the car.
I secretly love rain and would have kept going if our little dog wasn't with us... she HATES being wet and it was clear she wanted to get back pronto. I had just surpassed 10,000 steps so the timing for me was perfect
@jugar the right glassware totally makes the drinking experience better doesn't it? I recently got a new water bottle and I like drinking out of it so much that I actually drink more than if I'm drinking from a bottle I enjoy less. Seems silly but very true for me.4 -
@ashleycarole86 what brand of water bottle did you get? I've misplaced mine about a week ago and I feel lost! It's not the same drinking from a cup. 😕1
-
For breakfast/lunch I had low sodium tomato soup with frozen spinach & ground beef. Yummy! Had a big salad for dinner. I snacked on pistachios. Then I snacked on some chocolate chips. I wish I had not done that last bit, but hopefully I didn’t ruin the day.5

@PlaneMonkey The funny thing was, it was a free gift water bottle! When we place our once a year Nespresso order they often seem to send something for free. In this case it was this water bottle:
https://www.nespresso.com/gr/en/order/accessories/original/reusable-water-bottle
I like glass water bottles, but I have others and was surprised when I started drinking from this one how much I liked it. The mouth of the bottle is a nice size and I like the style of the bamboo screw top.
For a free bottle, I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do.
Back home and showered the chill off me... tomorrow we were hoping to do our Canmore to Banff bike ride but the weather isn't looking amazing..
How is the poison ivy extraction going? I asked Brad on our walk today if he'd ever had any encounters with it.. neither of us have... by the sounds of it and what @jugar said, I am very thankful for that.

That feels like a good start to the week. I have a 4 day weekend starting on Friday so I think this week might drag a bit. Weights this evening, chicken fajitas for dinner, and I need to spend a bit of time in the garden as I let my tomato plants run riot and need to rectify that situation.
I bought some jigsaws from the charity shop yesterday, and I haven't started the one I bought when we went on our break, so I'm planning to work on my WIP one - it's a tricky 1000 piece, so it will take a while to finish - then I can pick up another. I began doing jigsaws during lockdown 1 last year when I was sick of spending all my time behind a screen, but we didn't have many other options. I find it to be quite a calming activity, though sometimes I get frustrated when I'm struggling to find a piece!4 -
It was a bit of a disaster weekend here, eating wise. Pulling it together TODAY!4

Well, since the Canmore and Banff weather is all 90% chance of thunderstorms starting in a few hours, we have made other plans. There is a park northeast of Edmonton called Elk Island National Park that we are going to head to for our bike ride instead. We may even spot a wood bison!
Have a fabulous Monday all.5 -

Things are starting to quiet down here after a busy family weekend. Lots of good food was had, some good, some more of a splurge. But overall not bad.
I made this delicious salad with peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, scallions, lemon juice, EVOO, dill, and parsley. It was fabulous! Everyone loved it. My friend brought amazing potato salad that had an egg 🥚 in it for every potato 🥔. A splurge for sure, but so good.
My son just left with his two new kittens 🐈⬛. He’s such a great cat dad.
No Pilates yet, but I will get to it.5 -
