Congratulations @hipari! Your body is going to take time to adjust to this incredible change. Don't focus on the scale, let your body do what it needs to do. It probably still needs lots of nourishment and as long as you are eating good stuff, the rest will come.3

Welcome to all of our new folks! This is a great place to stay inspired.

A little disappointed, but a pound is still a pound. I'm hoping for a whoosh sometime soon. I'll be paying attention to the accuracy of my logging and keep up on my water.5 -
I am new here, thank you for the welcome! I am 5'3 and 48 years old. I started MFP in June 2013 at 277, and for two years attempted to learn something about nutrition. I was able to add random walks and stop the buffets, which had me lose 30 lbs but then I was just stalled. I was on heavy doses of prednisone due to hives, I have been hypothyroid since I was 21, and honestly I was thrilled I wasn't gaining weight!! I could not figure out no matter how much logging I did what was really driving the hives (and when the hives are in full swing I don't really care that I am fat, and I don't care about nutrition either - it is hard to think of anything other than the hives).
Lent this year, I dug deep and went for some full mortification. I ate nothing I liked, and drank nothing I liked. My keyword was, "If it doesn't make me puke I am eating or drinking it" let me just say yerba mate is pond scum swill! But, I started losing again, and while it wasn't my goal the changes in my diet lessened my hives significantly! Enough to get off the prednisone!! I had been taking prednisone since 2003. I have been losing weight ever since.
May 15, I found out I had melanoma. So appointments, surgeries done. I am all clear for now. However, I was very grateful for the loose skin on my back! And I hadn't really picked up my daily walk yet at that point, I was losing all from nutrition. Being the super lucky duck that I am, my oncologist gave me IV iron! THAT was the point I was able to start walking and exercising again. I have fibroids, and they are trying to kill me. They waste any iron I have every single month. So that iron, has been a life changer!
In August my PCP wanted to start investigating why I have dementia. That has been just an awful revelation, so while I have a tiny bit of snap I was able to investigate little helps for the fog, and helps for the brain. The good news is I was tracking EVERYTHING I was eating, so I have full control over what is going on nutritionally. Added 260 calories of MCT oil daily to help, and taking some herbs and helpful vitamins for the brain, lowering carbs and sugar a lot (odd note: dementia is actually aggravated due to the brains lessened ability to use sugar, that is why the MCT oil works), and voila! I can think sometimes! Way better than before. I also can tell now when I eat or drink something that creates fog.
The daily walks that I picked up after the IV iron were a true lifesaver, one step in front of the other for what is now a 3.14 miles (yeah so I like pi). I am toying with the idea of lifting: definite maybe. And I am watching my nutrition like a hawk, with a mindset that it is about health only - brain first. I would like to keep my brain healthy as long as possible. I have read that exercise also helps with that, but I think it is more like "really active" aka "athletic" and I am not there yet. But give me time, I think I can do this. Memento Mori!!
When the stress gets to me I have prayer, and I love to say the rosary on my morning walks. I also have found that when things get overwhelming, keeping the logging and habits that I have acquired so far have just really mitigated the stress. I still have hives sometimes, but NOTHING like it was. So I am very grateful to be here, and I am grateful to be on this journey with all of you!! I am excited for my first time with fat to fit!

Yep, you are absolutely correct! I’m just curious to know how much of that pregnancy weight I lost during childbirth, to have some idea of where I’m at right now. I’m not trying to make any weight loss efforts now and won’t weigh in again until my own postpartum medical checkup in 6-ish weeks. Instead, I’m healing and regaining my physical abilities, starting with basics like getting up from a chair without using my hands to help, walking without getting out of breath and bending to pick things up from the floor. Lots of improving in terms of flexibility, agility, strength and endurance. Pregnancy was rough on my body. Still, my focus is on my daughter and getting used to life with a baby and trying to find a balance where the needs of all family members are met.3 -
@hipari congrats on your baby girl! Such an exciting time!🍼2

Wow! @justanotherloser007, you have a complex history and you’ve learned so much over the years! You certainly don’t seem to be ‘just another loser’ to me. 😉 You’ve managed to untie a lot of the ‘strings’ to make progress untangling your particular ‘knot’ or ‘web,’ which is likely to help us all reflect, learn and improve. Thank you for sharing your background and insights!
@DayanasLBSGoingDown - Welcome to the Shrinking Assets team. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and hear how we can best support you in reaching your health, nutrition and/or fitness goals.2 -

During my doctor’s appointment a couple of weeks ago, I found out my exact height. I always knew I was close to 5 feet and 4 inches, but not quite. I’m 5’3” and 3/4 so that changes my BMI a bit. I’m in maintenance now and feel comfortable with a range of 120-125 because that’s in the middle of the BMI ‘normal’ category for someone 5’3.” I’ll still consider 130 pounds to be my end limit target as I gain muscle, which is my current goal. This winter, I’m focusing on improving my flexibility and strength. Best wishes to all of you!6 -

I'd like to let everyone know that the wonderful Teresa Wilson @TeresaW1020 is stepping down as Moderator after a wonderful term of service. She has kept the home page looking great, made sure we run all kinds of great challenges, fixed up our graphics, and kept the habit tracker going, among many other things. We will miss her as Moderator, but she will still be Captain of Team Mission Slimpossible and invaluable member of our community. Thanks Teresa! It has been a pleasure working with you5

I realize I just got on board, but for October I had a plan - so I have the stats. I think I will officially join November? IDK. Sorry, this is my first time being part of a "competition" and I am very new to the idea. Honestly, I don't think I would be this organized except I had an MFP friend who had similar stats and was trying to lose 4 lbs a month - and I kind of copied and pasted 4 months ago and have continued using that template. In September I hit a weird state where I thought maybe I wouldn't be losing as fast which is why in October I was thinking 3 lbs. But I kind of stepped up, literally, in the walking department. I think that helped considerably with this months loss.

Total loss since 1/1/21 - 61.8 lbs
It's been a wild week! I came down with a head cold on Sunday that included a fever for 3 days. Not only did my temperature fluctuate a lot, But my weight did too. At one point in the week I weighed in at 236.6!
I am very happy to have my middle number drop again. I am cautiously optimistic that it holds over the next couple days. My goal at the beginning of October was to start November under 240.
Happy Halloween!4 -
@jugar Regarding Teresa Wilson, does this mean no more habit tracker?0

Combination of PMS and my brother and little nephew unexpectedly staying over for a few days has meant I've eaten a lot of rubbish and it shows. New day new start tomorrow.4 -
Hello team.
I'm 72, retired, 6'1", ~231 lbs (down from 330, July 10th, 2020).
I would like to lose another 10-20 pounds, but if not, I'm okay where I am. I have been exercising a lot, and doing fairly well diet wise (although I have been enjoying more treats, after a year of denial). Still my weight has been very much the same (up and down) for several months. So I'm struggling to find a combination of diet and exercise I can live with long term, as I don't really want to be exercising 3+ hours a day nor do I want too restrictive a diet.
I'll spare you the story of how I got where I am now, from where I was (at a point where a walk around the block was barely doable), and instead just tell you my current exercise routine:- My calorie limit is set to 1830, and I try to eat that plus no more than half the extra calories burned through exercise (I'm still trying to find exactly what that percentage should be, as I know it's not 100%).
- I swim around 1800-2200 yards most days (swimming had been my #1 activity for weight loss).
- I do an hour of water aerobics five times a week.
- I do an hour of Silver Sneakers aerobics twice a week.
- I'm working up to doing a couple hours of yoga and a couple hours of strength training a week.
- I walk 2-3 miles a day.
- I joined a Garmin Step Challenge: 300,000 steps in October (& completed that this past Monday). I'm going to try to continue getting in around 10,000 steps a day.
- I intend to start doing tai chi again soon (I did it for 3-4 months ~5 years ago, and really enjoyed it).
I guess that's it for now.6
