Thx @jessicakrall8, but my brother was only here for 2 days and had left - this was 2 weeks ago - he only made a short trip
My mother-in-law is still in hospital transferred to ICU to keep a better monitor on her BP since its not stabilizing3 -

My target range is 120-130 pounds so I’m going to work a bit harder to reach 125 pounds after my rowing race on Sunday. Best wishes for a successful week, Shape Shifters!1 -
Hi all,I've been so busy trying to finish decorating my bedroom.I had to have it done by Monday as the carpet fitter was booked.I had to cancel him twice as it wasn't ready.Thankfully it's all done & also the stairs & landing. My bedroom is still pretty empty but looks nice.Im pleased with myself for doing it all myself.
I do not want to fill it with clutter again so I've got alot of boxes to sort over the next few weeks.I am determined to be ruthless lol.
I'm glad you are feeling good inside & out @CasandraW.I did feel for you when the shopping trip with your daughter didn't go well.Congrats for not eating your feelings & remaining calm.
I hope @LaurieWrobo that your husband's appointment goes well & that you will have something else to celebrate as well as your birthday. You must reach out anytime if you are feeling down.Hope you find time to recharge in other activities you enjoy.
Hope the team members meet their personal goals this week 😍

Hey all. Been busy myself. I forgot who had the dog pics but they're gorgeous. And everyone else's stuff was cool also.
I seen my regular dr yesterday. We're gonna try some accupuncture next week to see if it helps me gain some pain control more naturally. I do try some natural herbal remedies at the moment like tumeric and black pepper with mild success.4 -
@Armygirlarmyof1 - I’ve heard tumeric can help. I include it in some cooking but I’ve never used it as a supplement. I’ll have to look into how to use it and the amount recommended, etc.
I hope the acupuncture helps alleviate your pain. My husband has had success with acupuncture. He has to have regular treatments but most of the cost is covered by his insurance so we feel fortunate about that — best wishes!1 -
@izzyred9400 - Congratulations on completing all the hard work of redecorating your bedroom, landing, and stairs.
That’s quite an accomplishment! I’m also glad you were able to enjoy a fun night out to celebrate your son’s birthday. It’s so nice to have your sons so close by and spending special occasions together — definitely worth taking a break from your project, even if you had to reschedule the carpet installation!
Enjoy the peace of mind your new uncluttered room brings you! You’re inspiring me to make progress on my decluttering tomorrow. 🙏🏼1 -

I’m sorry to hear your mother-in-law is still in the hospital. I hope they find the source of her problem soon. I’m sure the stress and uncertainty also have a negative impact on her blood pressure but at least they can monitor her eating, sleep patterns, and other things that might exacerbate the problem.
Sending healing wishes ❤️🩹 and hoping you enjoy your birthday with your family — May all your birthday wishes come true!1 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. Spent yesterday cleaning some and hanging up the curtains. It was a lot more annoying to do alone than I expected. But I did my best to hang them straight and in the middle and I think it looks pretty good. I will put a before/after below. I used a pencil to mark stuff, but then discovered pencil marks are very hard to remove from a wall. Everything I did just rubbed off the paint. So I dug up the old can of paint I used when I moved here, almost 2 years ago. Once I removed the rubbery top layer on the paint, it looked fine to me, so I decided to give it a go. I know where to look on the wall, and I can't see any difference at all so I am pleased that worked out. More cleaning today! Happy Friday everyone3 -
Nice work @Pupowl! I have to be in the right frame of mind for that kind of task, requiring careful measurements and centering. I’m sure it feels good to accomplish another DIY (do it yourself) project. The Shape Shifters are a resourceful group! Go Team!1

This month I am determined to log all my food and close out my diary every day. That went well this week, I'm on a 6 day streak so far. Also went to bed most nights at 11pm and felt good by the little bit of extra sleep that brought.
This morning I got up early and fit in a 30min dog walk and a 35min workout on my indoor exercise bike. It always feels good to get a morning workout in. I find it sets the day up nicely and puts me in a good mood.

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you in response to your encouraging messages -@izzyred9400, @Armygirlarmyof1, @Susanna527, @SavageMrsMoose, and @pedal__power. It was a busy week and you all lifted my spirits. Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
We were able to get some recommendations for treatment options for his depression and reached out to 12 different providers. We met with one doctor by phone on Friday while I was at the airport waiting for my flight and the call went longer than anticipated — and despite being close to my gate, I ended up missing my flight! 😬.
My departing flight was at 3:00pm and my return flight was at 3:30pm so I mixed up the times and thought I could make it to the gate with plenty of time to board. Instead of boarding at 3:00pm, as I thought, the plane pushed back from the gate at that time! Fortunately, there are hourly flights between DC and Boston, so it worked out fine after the initial stress. I was able to make a bunch of inquiry calls before the end of the day on Friday, while I waited at the gate for my rebooked flight, so the missed flight was really a blessing. I was even able to set up an intake assessment for the following Monday!
Over the weekend, we were able to stabilize the crisis and get into a healthier routine. After three meetings on Monday with a therapist, doctor, and the intake staff, he was approved for about six weeks of residential treatment and the waiting list was anticipated to be 2-3 weeks, which is very encouraging with today’s mental health crisis and resulting shortage of beds. We had some more meetings and calls (e.g., psychiatrist about medicine, vacation/ leave of absence approval, etc.) throughout the week, and I learned a lot about the continuum of care options while coordinating out-patient treatment as a follow-up to the residential setting. For example, I didn’t know I had to request a case manager with the insurance company before setting up the bed with the treatment facility. With a waiting list of 6-8 weeks at one out-patient option, it might be difficult to get the timing just right but I’ll do my best.
For now, I’m concentrating on developing a check-in system in coordination with local family members for monitoring throughout the day. We are fortunate to have this kind of support for one another as we make sure he is building back some ability to function in terms of daily activity. Anyway, things are going as well as possible so thanks again for your support.
Between caring for my uncle, mother, father-in-law, great-aunt — and supporting my son, brother (who is looking for a new job), and cousin’s family — I’m so deeply appreciative for my sister and her husband for doing so much on a weekly basis. My brothers do what they can but so much responsibility falls to my (nurse) sister and (physician) brother-in-law. I hope we can make a better plan to alleviate some of the burden from them in the coming months. Carpe Diem, everyone! Life is complicated, but the good days bring us resilience, so let’s store up the positive energy for when these tough streaks hit us.
Best wishes to all and thanks again for being here!

Mostly recovered from my huge gain last week!
@CasandraW I prefer to exercise in the morning. It makes me feel better and I lose motivation as the day goes on. I agree with @pedal__power completely. Starts the day right. I've never tried a barre class other than online. They sound interesting to me. Is there another location you can go to since yours closed? There is definitely a needed social aspect to fitness classes.
@jessicakrall8 Sounds like you've been doing great with your nutrition!
@ac204 congrats on getting into the 180s! Good luck on your 5K!
@LaurieWrobo will keep you in my thoughts, both for your husband and your MIL. Very scary stuff. Hopefully he will get the all-clear and she will start to stabilize. And Happy Birthday! You and I are almost birthday twins! Mine isn't until the 17th though.
@PatriceFitnessPal I'm so sorry about your week. Sounds really tough. Mental health issues, caring for aging parents, none of that is easy, but to miss the flight on top is the kicker! You have to to take the Dr's call when it comes, its almost impossible to call back!
I've only missed a connection once and there is nothing worse than seeing it at the gate, but doors closed. Glad you were able to get another flight, but still sucks. You have such a great attitude, though.
It snowed about a foot here over the last day or so and its beautiful. I've gotten my running done on the treadmill- still trying to calibrate my new watch to get the pace to reflect somewhat what the treadmill is saying. Much closer today and was able to complete my workout! I feel successful today!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!4 -
Many thanks to Jessica and all other members who wished me well! I am still not 100% but recovering steadily. My average walking speed is back up to 4-4.4 miles per hour! (Not bad for a 5'3", 64 year-old woman!)

One of my colleagues said she has a breakfast cereal that has tumeric in it to help alleviate swelling!

Had a lot of sodium yesterday so hopefully the gain is temporary. I managed to keep the bag of Halloween candy closed until that day, but I did indulge. Leftovers were put in the freezer.
Still in PT but now dealing with this new back issue. I feel like I’m playing a game of whack-a-mole with all my ailments! I’m thinking I may have so see a chiropractor if this doesn’t improve but I really don’t have time to schedule it!
I’ve got my daughter’s old room painted except for the doors. Still looking for more furnishings and I need to decide on new blinds so they can be delivered in time. I just can’t decide on the best color to go with the trim. So many variations of white!
Every time I think I have everything I need to finish the room, something else pops up (hello, duvet insert). I think I can get most of it done by the 19th, but I also have the rest of the house to clean, and this cranky back is slowing my progress. I need to make sure I don’t overdo it.3 -
Super random, but I found this funny. Today at work we were given shirts, they say "100 percent club", so I asked what we were 100% in, the awenser-Capacity... We are at 100% capacity, our facility is full, and we got shirts 🤦 for those that dont know, I work in a memory care assisted living facility

🤣🤣 I mean, congrats (I think) to the facility but shirts? Lol what an odd thing to make a shirt about. You would think that you wouldn't want to be at full capacity. 🤦🏻♀️3 -

Bit disappointing as I didn't even eat any Halloween sweets, but it's still a loss so I'll take it.
Congratulations @CasandraW the scales have moved for you Yipee 🙂
Great loss @Pupowl well done in your consistent loss, you've got this !
@angemarie28 that is a bit strange, are the management pleased that they are at full capacity as they get more money ? For the staff it must be harder & surely the care of the residents is affected.Very odd,I agree @ewilhelm2487.
@PatriceFitnessPal oh my goodness you did have a productive few days to sort out your
family's care & organise all the doctor's appointments.Well done,I can see why you are so good at your job.You are a resourceful organiser.
How disappointing that you missed your flight, but glad that you didn't let it stress you out & instead used the spare time
productively.
@cre804 I know how you feel. Its taken me weeks to decorate my bedroom.I overdid it & injured my back just moving the step ladders. So be careful. It's nice to choose new things but difficult.I got a new duvet cover but have alot more to buy.
@Pupowl well done for putting up your curtain rail yourself, the curtains look lovely. You are braver than me,I am scared to drill into the new plaster & paint in my bedroom to put a new curtain pole up.I'm like your Mum & struggle with blinds 😖
@walea2007 glad you're feeling a little better.That is a good walking speed,I'm 62 & only 5ft 2 I envy tall people with a long stride lol.
Have a great Saturday y'all

Oh yeah, this was a good week! I’m in NYC this weekend visiting family, and trying to eat well (hard in a city like New York where everything is SO good!!). But I’m walking a ton which is also easy to do here. Feeling really good!!
@Armygirlarmyof1: excuse me if this seems too personal, but by any chance are you taking a Statin medication? I ask because I went an entire year barely being able to walk (could only walk with a cane and was heading towards a wheelchair) and in constant agony. None of my doctors could figure it out. Went to an acupuncturist who asked to see a list of my meds, and he said it was the Statin I was taking. Turns out for 15% of users, it rips their muscles. After 2 weeks off the Statins, I was pain free and back at Jazzercise. Don’t give up on getting relief; you’ll find out the cause. I know being in pain can be so hard and really does a number on you psychologically. We’re all rooting for you💜4 -
@nancyinmo - That’s a good question you posed! My mother had terrible leg pain after starting her statin medicine and told the doctors the onset of symptoms occurred with the statin but they dismissed her. She couldn’t walk and had to change her job as a postal carrier to indoor work and then retired early because of the physical difficulties. She discontinued the statin on her own and felt better. Now, she takes a different (non-statin) medication and I think there’s even a class action lawsuit because of all the people who suffered. Thanks for the public service announcement! 😊1

@PatriceFitnessPal
Holy smokes! I am so sorry your mother went through all that! Thank goodness she figured it out.0
