Well, today is special. I have not been this angry or frustrated in AGES!!! The performance and recording project I did in France in October will not result in a commercial recording. The composer was not happy with the result due to some (I thought minor) differences with one of the violinists. I am SO disappointed. We had such a fabulous time, but composers...... Don't get me started. Then I spent almost 3 hours on hold with our ridiculous system for people without a GP or family doctor (mine retired). I just wanted to know if someone would look in my ear to see why it is still seemingly full of liquid and plugged up even though my nose is clear and all my covid symptoms are gone. I still have no appointment, but will pay to go see my audiologist just so she can look to see if it looks like something a doc should do. The call was supposed to take care of that process... THEN ok. I'll stop there. My day was stupid.
But @Gidgitgoescrzy is back, @KellyBgetsfit is asking all the right questions, @micki48 has seen a dietician and is getting closer and closer to being back on track -- a lot of wonderful things are happening in here! Not to mention that our team lost more than any other last week. We did lose a couple of our new members, but that happens every January. I love the energy when so many people sign up, but it is not always the right thing for everyone. I hope they find their path.
I did some Pilates today, walked some, but have not really had a great day. Tomorrow will be better! I'm going to Montreal to see a couple of people and get my alto flute back from the person who has had it for a few weeks, then I'm turning 69 on Wednesday. I guess part of my feeling unsettled is entering my 70th year! I'm still a feisty wild person! Life is crazy So glad to have this space to rant and carry on.6 -
@jugar so many people are having problems with their ears after covid or colds this holiday season. My hubby has had blocked ears for over 2 weeks now. Decongestant pills weren't working so we got him flonase from the pharmacy and it's been helping. All the tubes and sinuses are connected so even though your nose is clear, you might be able to administer something through it that will help your ears.
We're in the same boat with doctors. Those phone calls aren't fun... I hope you find a solution soon!0 -
Thanks @PlaneMonkey ! I hate ear stuff since I only have one that functions. Bleh!!

I haven’t ticked off all my habit tracker checks. Wasn’t making good habit decisions but my steps are good and I lost for the week. Read a bit more of Atomic Habits. Good stuff. Still missed reading 51 posts but caught up with the more recent ones.
This!!!!
We don't have to do ALL the things, ALL the time.
Progress happens based on what we choose most of the time.

Okay YAY !!!!!!!!!!!
So, I actually have been keeping track of things, so my weights are as follows.
Jan 4th 173.8
Jan 11th 173
Weigh in day will be Wednesdays.
@PlaneMonkey Hi Courtney, you asked about my back, it is doing great, no more issues at all, it's fully fused, and all the pain is gone. I am still dealing with some tight ligaments in my left leg, but I started doing yoga again, and am making some pretty significant progress.
So for those that don't know me, Hi I'm Vikki - I'm 51 - live in Baltimore, MD have 3 kids, none of which live with me anymore. 2 are local, 1 is 2k miles away in the Air force. I am married, work in accounting / payroll for a Lumber company. Love my job, and it is currently the ONLY one I have... (I have a bad habit of helping out previous companies and giving away my me time...)
I was on the team up until maybe May or June of last year, then did a complete 180 and deleted and cancelled everything. I wasn't in a good space, I was so stressed, working 3 jobs, (2 were part time) only 6 months out of a lumbar and cervical fusion that I had done at the same time, and although I flew through the recovery for the most part, it killed my flexibility and made me scared to do much.
I recently did my 1-year post surgery appt, and I am 100% fused, and he said I am clear to do whatever I want and have no limitations.
I am finally back in a good place, and ready to actually do this. I am not at a bad weight right now, I am 173, but I'm short, 5'3, so it's still a lot, I want to get down to 145, but in the interim, my goal is 159 by March 19th, that's the day I leave for my cruise that is 3 years past due...
Anyway, my exercise for the week was/ will be.
Sunday = 15 min yoga, 10 min strength
Monday = 10min video, 15 min Yoga
Today = 10min video (done) and this evening will be another 10 min video, and 10 min strength
Weds = 20 min video, and 15 min Yoga
Thursday = 10 min video, 10 min Strength (Have an eye dr appt after work)
Friday = OFF
Saturday = 1 hour walk somewhere, 15 min Yoga
Food is almost on point, I don't like eating my exercise calories, but last night I did... Today, I will attempt not to.
This week is protein shake and hardboiled egg for Breakfast. Taco salad for lunches, and I have Hello Fresh for dinners, last night was Balsamic Fig chicken with Weed salad, and roasted potatoes.
Tonight, is Italian chicken over lemony spaghetti with zucchini.
Anyway, thanks for having me back, I am all in!

Welcome back @Gidgitgoescrzy - it's great to 'see' you!
I have been feeling anxious since last night because we weren't even considering a move but we've found a house. We have a house, and we don't need another house, especially not at the moment with the way prices are constantly jumping for everything. But it's around the corner, the size up from this one, and the extra space would be lovely.
It could easily be a 10-15 year home - if not longer - and I think the difference would work out cheaper than our long term plans for this one. Plus there are things that it has, which we couldn't achieve here. It's also about 20% more expensive, and our mortgage might increase by 50% (between the extra we'd have to mortgage and the increased rates these days), so there would definitely be a strain on our finances.
This is either a terrible decision or a great opportunity, and I feel very stressed at any of the possible ways this could turn out!5 -
I'd say happy Monday....but then I realized it's Tuesday (We had off for MLK so I have a short week)
PW: 146
CW: 145.6
It's so funny how much weight can fluctuate in one day. Two days after my 146, I was 143.6. A few hours later (after I drank water and worked out), I was 147! I really need to do measurements as well. Is anyone else tracking progress that way?
Also, WTG team! Everyone is crushing it! We weren't ahead but just a few pounds...that was pretty significant!
***Great News*** The IHS (Indian Health Service) has created a pilot program to create board certified health coaches within the system and determine the effects of utilizing them in Indian country. I've been selected as one of 54 and I am STOKED!! It's a 6 months program through the Legacy Holistic Health Institute out of Atlanta, and at the end, I'll be eligible to sit for the exam to become board certified. I am over the moon about this and can't wait to see how it can improve my practice as a dietitian and soon to be holistic practitioner!8 -
@cleaneater80 That’s true. Thank you so much.
Great progress this week👍1 -
@DD265 you have put so much into your home. The 'what if' game can be so hard. There's pros and cons for both moves. I don't know if the UK does it but here in Canada we can 'port' our mortgage to the new property and only pay an increased blended rate on the additional borrowed amount for the larger property. Not all lenders tell you about that option as they make more money when they just give you a higher rate and start fresh.
How has this anxiety affecting your BED progress? What's your process to make decisions like this? My tummy is churning with anxiety on your behalf! Ohh the unknowns! Taking a walk or run to clear your head might help your heart to decide.
Hugs

@jugar hubby was on hold for an hour and 20 minutes with the health services but managed to score an appointment cancellation with our assigned medical clinic today and they've diagnosed him with otitis, an inner ear infection. He doesn't have any fever associated with it so they found that strange, but antibiotics are waiting for us at the pharmacy and they told him to expect results within 3 days.
Fingers crossed!
I hope you're able to get healed quickly as well.

Today is my 3rd day in a row of intentional movement! It has been months since that happened! I have several meals out this week which I'm a little concerned about but will try hard to make good choices. I will avoid the donuts I know will be at the office tomorrow. They aren't worth it!6
-
I survived Tuesday!
The ear news is good - no infection, just a very blocked eustachian tube, so it is neti pot 4 times a day instead of my usual once. Hopefully that will get things draining better. I could not start today because I spent the whole day taking the bus to Montreal, having a lovely lunch with a friend (the one bright light of the day), picking up my alto flute from the person who has been holding on to it for me since before the holidays, and then sitting in the bus some more to get home. Useful, but way too much sitting in a bus. And then I had pizza for dinner. It was good!
@PlaneMonkey I hope your hub's ear feels better fast. Those can really hurt like crazy
@Gidgitgoescrzy thanks for the numbers and the news. I'm very glad to hear you back is doing well and that you are only working one job now Your cruise goal will keep you making a good example of yourself, I'm sure!
@DD265 wow - those kinds of decisions can really ramp up the excitement (nice stress) and the anxiety (not so nice, but sometimes useful in looking at problems from all angles). Keep taking those walks and many deep breaths. Whichever way it goes, I'll bet you're going to make it work. You and your OH seem like a great team.
I'm thirsty and need to get on the bike to rev out some of the excess crazies resulting from a trip to the big city!4 -

Had a scare at end of school day today. Had a very sudden sever visual disturbance. Like ink swirling in front of my eye. Think the aliens in the movie Arrival. So very weird. It was scary. Our business manager insisted I go to the ER. My daughter took me over. It is less than a mile from my school. Once we arrived, they called for critical care in the ER over the PA. Little did I know it was for me!! They were amazing and rushed into action. Must have had 15 people on my case. Had CT scans, bloodwork, neurological testing. All came back ok. They are thinking it’s my eye. Possibly retina issue or an ocular migraine. They released me but I have to go to the ophthalmologist in the morning. Still a little headachey. I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow. Stayed under calories!! That’s what four hours in the ER will do. Drinking my water to flush the iodine.

I hope you're OK @micki48, that sounds terrifying.PlaneMonkey wrote: »@DD265 you have put so much into your home. The 'what if' game can be so hard. There's pros and cons for both moves. We can port mortgages here too; we only have a year left on our current fixed rate, though. As my husband pointed out, unless the sellers have done something really awful to that house/it's in terrible condition, we know it's going to be good. This means the challenges are: selling this one, and managing the financials of both moving and a larger mortgage. We were also about to start a family and that would need to go on hold.
I'm trying not to worry/think about it too much yet; I need more information to make the decision. I did sleep well last night, whereas Monday after we found it I was tossing and turning. Husband is fine; he's way more laid back than I am! BED wise it's not made any difference, because I'm eating the 3 meals/3 snacks a day I am not often hungry in between, and I'm also not snack-shopping at the moment. I am listening to podcasts when I am on the treadmill which thankfully is enough of a distraction. My focus on portion control isn't strong yet, but that's not really anxiety related either and more about getting into the routine of it, plus we're using up things from the freezer that are pre-portioned or OH has done any from-scratch cooking so far this week.
Hopefully we'll view the house later, and ours is booked for a valuation on Monday. We'll need to crunch numbers with a financial advisor, and of course if we decide to go for it and put ours on the market, there's all the jobs - which I wanted to do for us any way, just not in a rush - that I would want to do to get it ready. It's a terrible time of year to be outside scrubbing/jet washing the fence!
ETA my decision making process - get as much information as I can. There will invariably be a spreadsheet involved, but ultimately I will need to go in search of my gut feeling on two subjects: 1) buying the house and 2) delaying starting a family by potentially another year or two. This generally involves a lot of introspection - maybe some meditation and journaling - until I have a 'certain' feeling and then I'll follow whatever that is.6 -

Another good week of tracking and intentional moving!
@micki48 that sounds scary! Let us know how you make out with the eye doctor!
@DD265 good luck making the decision about the house! I know how stressful choices can be!
@jugar I'm sorry about hearing about your music not being used! You all have been working so hard on that!
Well short post today, off to work!5 -
I derailed after raclette night, too much socializing (eating) and cooking over the weekend, Birthday monday, not logging, not reading, and here I am, the day before weigh in. grrr... I must do better - I can't live like a hermit forever nor work forever- seems to be how I manage best - during the work week. Again. I know what to do - so just do it!!
Will start again after work, reading through all the thread.5 -
@jugar the scale was unusually high -1.2 higher then yesterday- so I am going to double check it tomorrow. My calories were about 100 over yesterday, but I also crushed my workout and my tummy is very rumbly this morning. It sounds like you had a busy day yesterday. I am glad your ear is ok.
@micki48 that sounds so scary!!! I am glad they made you get checked out.
@DD265 That is exciting, but I also get the anxiety. We had to move into a bigger house a few years ago (after baby 3) and it was definitely stressful. We actually backed out of one house because it had more damage then we wanted to take on. I LOVE the house we ended up with. Best decision ever.
@eggfreak you got this! You just need to find balance. When you are not socializing, make good choices and log it. You can't and shouldn't avoid life to lose weight3 -
Good morning, Busy day here, had to take one of the dogs to the vet this morning for some procedures ( Xrays, teeth cleaning, Biopsy) so that put me about an hour and a half behind, and it's payroll day. Sooo,,, gotta get that one done on time...
Weigh In was
PW 173
CW 175
I am okay with that, I worked muscle groups that haven't done anything for a year, I know I am retaining water, because I am still a lil sore, so that 2 lbs will go away quick, and hopefully it will make some friends, and they can leave with them.
Have a great day !

@micki48 I went through the exact same thing a few years back - lost all vision in my left eye while driving for about a minute. It was an ocular migraine after they ruled out all the other scary things. I have never had one again, so I hope yours is the same. Hugs!!!
And more of those to you @KellyBgetsfit @DD265 and @eggfreak Challenges all around, but you're all amazing people who will meet them, I'm sure.4 -
Weigh In: Wednesday

I am traveling this week so I need to weigh in a day early. Pizza last night. It was needed, but generally screws things up for a couple of days.4 -
@Micki48 Hope it's just occular migraines, I get them atleast a few times a year. There is no rhyme or reason, and they are apparently harmless. I can actually tell when I am about to get one now, which is good, because you do not want to be driving when one comes on. Drs don't have a reason why, apparently, they are just something some people get. - But if you've never had one, they are very scary.
@DD265 How exciting about a possible new house, hopefully all of the work you've done on the current one will raise the price enough to make it such a not so hard decision.
@Eggfreak You got this !3 -
Don’t quit on a bad day
I just heard this and It absolutely resonated with me. So many times I have quit on a bad day to only recognise two days later things weren’t really that bad 🤷🏼♀️4 -
Thanks everyone for your concern. Went to the ophthalmologist. He was great. Said my eyes are healthy, no sign of detachment. Said it was an ocular migraine. Just like you all said nothing to worry about. Stress can bring them on. I had a little stress last week with my daughter’s news of a new house and moving. He did find I had mild cataracts, which I did not know. I have had more trouble seeing at night though. And I’m high end of normal for glaucoma, so we’ll keep an eye on that. No pun intended. 😂
I’m STILL waiting for my eyes to UN-dialate. It takes my eyes forever. Good news in all this, in addition to being ok, is I logged all of my food and was under.
@DD265 I totally understand the stress of deciding to move or not to move. It’s a biggie, especially if it puts having a family on hold. I like your plan to find your answer. Good luck sending you all good vibes.
@jugar @gidgitgoescrzy Thanks for the reassurances having had them yourselves.4 -
Today was my first sauna of the year - we have been using our sauna less frequently lately, so it felt good to get in there and sweat! The best is stepping out onto the snow in nothing but my boots. Just standing out there looking at the beautiful stars, radiating heat, and enjoying the feeling of being outdoors without clothes in the winter! I draw the line at putting something on my feet, though - I can't spend as much time outside between bouts of sauna heat if I don't put something on my feet. Orion is up there shining away, along with all the other winter stars, and I love to walk around until I'm cold enough for the next round. The pond is frozen over, or I'd jump in
I almost forgot to post my steps and all for last week - hope it isn't too late @ashleycarole86 -

Micki,
Definitely sounds like an ocular migraine. They are very alarming, but usually caused by either too little sleep, too much stress or eye strain. The retina needs to be assessed before it’s confirmed of course. I’m surprised they called for critical care! Unfortunately the ER isn’t very equipped when it comes to eye care. They usually wait for an optometrist or ophthalmologist to come see the patient when the patient could have gone straight to the OD or MD directly on their own lol. Keep me posted on your visit.

@micki48
I should have kept reading the other posts lol didn’t realize you had seen the doc already lol
Glad it was confirmed. If it happens again try to take Tylenol or Advil at the onset to limit the duration and lessen the headache that may come afterwards. Some get a headache afterwards others don’t. I used to get them in high school often because I barely slept, but never had the headache after. They truly are an interesting phenomenon.
Cataracts.. don’t worry about as long as the doc said they weren’t ready, make sure you are wearing sunglasses outdoors, totally normal and when they are ready the surgery is super simple to correct.
Make sure to follow up on the glaucoma suspect diagnosis as glaucoma is easily treated and managed if caught on time. Are they going to make you do a visual field or just watch you yearly?
