Weigh in Day: MONDAY
PW: 170.6

Today is a lovely day here in SW Missouri so I decided to get my bike out and clean it up ready for spring / summer. Well my neighbour was doing the same and asked me if I wanted to go for a ride this afternoon. Yes I do!
So I just completed an 8.8 mile bike ride. @adrimango I am classing this as workout #2 for the week ☺️6 -
@LoraineGB Nice!!! I did a BurpeeGirl workout today but am still aiming for 3 trips to the gym mostly to help get me in the habit of going.5

Understood ☺️. I still might try and match it 😉

@adrimango I keep reading "BurpeeGirl" and feeling slightly headachy - my least favourite exercise!! I love how you and @LoraineGB are going at it these days. Fantastic - and outdoors on a bicycle! Wow.
I got a good workout in late this afternoon (dinner was late!) and will now hop on the exercise bike and watch the silly raccoon show out the window. This time of year, it seems like there are swarms of them. They chow down under the bird feeder and waddle about. They are quite hilarious, and their little highways in the snow are everywhere.
@KellyBgetsfit you are on the daily move-your-body program too, and that is great. Even if you can only squeeze in a few reps or something short, it is always worth it. It will help you through the peri- and real thing menopause, too. Moving more, moving well, and keeping strong make a huge difference.
A few more numbers due for Sunday - Monday:
@ells_bellz (I know you weighed in just a couple of days ago, so if you want to switch days that's fine!)
@BlueSkyNomad
@nightfeeding1 and @MoonlitMuse you both missed last week! Hope you are able to get back this week
Tuesday tomorrow - let's do some planning No weigh-ins are due, so we can work up some good strategies for Green March and continue no zero days.4 -
My week has been ok so far. Doing an up and down movement so far this week on the scale, but eating has been good overall.
I realized how much the habit tracker really helped me (while I was doing it) in January. The main problem is that I can't access it to document on (I can read it) on my phone, and it is an extra step to turn on my computer to chart. So I made my own habit tracker I have posted on the bulletin board in my room! I track my weight in the morning, even though I also track that in my app, I have my couch to 5k chart up, and the habit tracker that I update at night. I have a 5k scheduled for march 25, the perfect timing for a green March! I am excited for it, as it's on the runway at our local airport. Nice and flat 😂 Plus airports have always fascinated me and it's cool to think I can run, well jog/walk, on the runway!6 -
Hello,
I'm slowly catching up with everyone's news. I recently got my results back from my hormone test. It came with some basic explanation but I won't get to see the naturopath until mid March. I also can't get into my regular doctor because he just had a new baby and will be out until April. Basically my progesterone, estrogen and testosterone are in great shape. However my stress hormones are absolutely off the charts. I am making a lot of cortisone and cortisol and I do not metabolize it. I show signs that this has been going on for awhile and is related to stress. My test also looked at some organic acids and nuero byproducts. I have significant deficiencies in vitamin b12. I was also low in several other things that are related to not absorbing fats appropriately. These are affecting my energy level and are disrupting my adrenal function hence my high stress. This also explains why my cholesterol is so low at 113.
I have a lot of work to do to get these things straightened out. Obviously weight loss isn't going to happen with my cortisol levels being almost double the top range number. My wellness coach looked over my results and gave me some good ideas. Here's what I'm working on right now:
⭐sleep a lot more
⭐move exercise to the afternoon
⭐change work out to gentle reformer pilates
⭐add meditation, sauna and/or down time
⭐reduce caffeine
⭐take bile salts to help with digestion due to no gallbladder
⭐take supportive supplements:B12, B6, magnesium, vitamin C and adrenal support
⭐eat 3 meals and no snacks (medium carbs higher healthy fats)
⭐manage work stress
I'm also doing a DNA health test to see if it has any insight into my current issues. Luckily I had good levels for all areas related to gut health. Happy to see the work I have done in that area are paying off.11 -
@eggfreak I hope things improve for your brother.
Congratulations on your move @wishfuljune - it sounds like all systems go!
@Micki48 good luck in your house search. I am sure that things will come together for you and your son.
@bowens1973 @ashleycarole86 it looks and sounds like the trip of a lifetime, but hopefully you'll have many more such trips together.
@Evmakeschanges I'm sorry about your friend.
@jugar I am not a burpee fan either. I have short arms and long legs, so find it very difficult.
@conleywoods the tests sound really comprehensive, and hopefully it will give you some answers plus a way forward.
I don't feel full of cold now, but my energy levels are still very low. I can manage about 4 hours of anything before I'm ready to crash - so being up at 5.30 this morning, I feel done for the day already and it's not even 10am!
It was a fairly quiet weekend. We did the food shop on Friday night, then on Saturday the butchers and a couple of allotment trips. I've been putting in 8ft posts which will hold wires supporting the raspberry and blackberry canes. We bought what is basically a giant corkscrew to dig 2ft holes, which was quite hard work but oh so satisfying. On Sunday I fitted the last of the 4 posts, pottered a bit, and did a garden centre trip. Yesterday I was in the office for an all day meeting; definitely snacked on a few too many sweet treats that were provided, but tea was a roast chicken dinner with plenty of veg.
This morning I've been to see my trainer and after various warm up exercises I did some snatches and the first was 'ugly but you're strong and get away with it' followed by some very good ones. I have a large chest, so the bar can't exactly travel upwards in a straight line! My lifts are all safe and solid now, we're just fine tuning which is a process that I enjoy. We identified an Olympic lift that we've missed; the split squat, which I think will be good for core strength and hip strength/mobility - important for running.
Today I have meetings with very few breaks, but I did manage to protect an hour at lunch time. I'm planning to go for a walk to the allotment so I can water the garlic in the greenhouse. It's just about light enough to go for ~30 minutes after work, except I have a 4.30pm meeting and I'm not expecting to be done much before 6pm. I will go on the treadmill later even if it's just for a minute, as I didn't get any meaningful exercise yesterday. Today's chore list is short and I intend to keep it that way.
I can't stop yawning, and I'm hungry so it's time for a snack; Tuesdays are still my hungry day!8 -
@eggfreak I think I missed the post about your brother. 🙏 Your family has been through a lot these past few years.
@conleywoods wow, that sounds like a lot of good, jpdul information. I actually didn't know you could have your cortisol checked. I might ask for that. I am glad you are switching to gentle workouts because I have read hiit is not the best for cortisol. I am working on the 3 meal thing. I am following a naturopath Dr. on Instagram and she talks a lot about that.
I had a nice 3 day weekend. I worked out, meal prepped, finally got to take the kids to the zoo. The zoo is fairly ugly this time of year, but they desperately needed some time out of the house since it has been so cold. I stuck with my 3 solid meals yesterday. I feel good. The scale is up.🙄 We will see what tomorrow's weigh in brings.5 -
Things are going well here, I am feeling much better, so back to exercise as of Sunday. My bp isn't back to normal yet, but it's down. Had my hormones checked, nothing weird showed up yet, but there is one that was requested, but not performed. I'm not sure why... So waiting to see what she wants to do, If she wants me to go back to give more blood, I would like her to do a full work up.
Anyway , hope you have a great day !

What a Tuesday! I hope everyone has had/is having a good one. I am enjoying the walking about, seeing critters, and playing some music.
Thanks for the health and testing updates - there is a lot of info we can use to work on things, for sure. Sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming, but when ongoing trends are explained it is amazing. Keep on sharing!
I'm off for the evening of raccoon viewing and other excitements... I have a friend in Thunder Bay (Ontario) who has a lynx in her yard at the moment. It is always fun to be able to see critters in the yard.
Wednesday folks! Are you ready to go? Heads up -

I just finished catching up on the posts I missed.
@EvMakesChanges So sorry to hear about your dear friend.
@eggfreak Sorry to hear you have stress and worry about your brother. Keeping you in my thoughts.
@bowens1973 Happy 50th Birthday Brad! Loved all of the great pictures too.

I think I’m mostly caught us reading posts. I second Kristi’s thoughts above as well.
I did 5 minutes of stretching this morning. Not much but more than yesterday. I logged my food and closed my diary. I was under too.
I bet my cortisol levels are elevated too with all this house stuff and my sons layoff. My body aches all over and my hip is so sore. My friend told me acupuncture helped her. Have any of you used acupuncture before?
I’m going to heed @conleywoods recipe — get sleep. I’m headed there now. Hopefully, I’ll sleep ok.
Have a good day/night. Tomorrow I need to drink more water.3 -

Well, I lost what I had gained back last week, so that's good, but it's not actual progress. I'm focusing more on exercise now so we'll see that gives me the push I need. Have a great week!6 -
Hey all! So sorry I missed last week, it was CRAZY! I got recruited to become the dietitian for the local care center so I've got that added to my plate...I did a wellness thing for the schools, and there's just so much more.
I didn't get a chance to weigh last week and I'll try to get my weight later today or tomorrow morning. We had a holiday weekend and then yesterday I was snowed in my house! I'm back in the office and playing catch up, but this week may be a bit hectic too.
Hope everyone else is staying warm!5 -

@adrimango I went to the gym this afternoon so I am passing you the baton 😊
D’y’all have those weeks where it doesn’t matter what you eat you’re still hungry? That’s me this week 😞

Slowly heading down in the right direction!
@LoraineGB I tend to have hungry days rather than hungry weeks. Yesterday was a hungry day, and I try to eat more fruits or veggies, or just get busy so I don't think about it.
@MoonlitMuse your schedule sounds busy! I have been staying warm...it's been 75F in NC this week and tomorrow will be close to 80! Everything is starting to bud on the trees, they are saying 30 days ahead of normal. We are getting ready for pollen!
@micki48 my husband did dry needling for tight muscles and it really helped him! I am still not fully sure the difference between accupuncture and dry needling.4 -

I had a great stairmaster style walk today - all the big hills! Snowshoes not required - the previous tracks are hard, the deer trails are also good and hard, but over the next couple of days we're supposed to get more snow at last. I can't wait! Even if it is followed by some super cold temps, that is all fine by me
Has anyone done hot yoga? I'm thinking of trying a class or 2 just to stop being alone all the time when exercising. It's tempting, but I have not done much yoga before.4 -
@jugar I got very sick last night and was not able to eat today. I am going to hope eating returns to normal tomorrow and I will weigh in Friday. Sorry, I know I was late last week too.🤦♀️5

Hi WA's ...You have a new member joining your amazing team ...Please welcome @BrownMargaret30215

@lorrainegb I have hungry days too. Usually caused by significant exercise or illness. I usually find that making my mid-morning snack into more of a meal (I often have something I might typically have for lunch) helps a lot. If it's actually a craving rather than hunger, I'm learning to have a reasonable portion of The Thing, rather than eating everything else in the house before giving in.
Welcome to the team @BrownMargaret3021 - this is a great bunch of people.
I'm a little frustrated by my gain but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Earlier in the week OH said he fancied McDonalds - I said maybe over the weekend, but not Wednesday because I weigh in on Thursday and McDonalds always causes water retention for me. You can see where this is going! At lunch time we went for a walk via the allotment to water my garlic in the greenhouse, and saw that the council had hired a skip for plot holders to clear away any rubbish and it was being taken away Friday morning. I took a couple of hours off work in the afternoon and cleared away loads of stuff left by the previous tenant(s) - rotting pallets, disintegrating weed membrane, broken bricks and a soggy carpet. It was hard work and I only stopped because it was getting dark! This also meant it was just after 6pm when I got home, the chicken hadn't defrosted for our fajitas, and OH decided that cooking something from the freezer would take too long. So McDonalds it was.
I don't think I can get back down to the allotment today or early tomorrow to clear away the last bits, which are two piles of soil full of rubbish, but we made a huge dent in it which is great. I'd run with my friend yesterday morning too so it was a good day for exercise if not food. If my 4pm meeting gets cancelled I'll finish early again and go back down the allotment, but otherwise it'll be a quiet at-my-desk day and I'll go on the treadmill this evening.7 -
Welcome @BrownMargaret3021 - looking forward to getting to know you!2
