Workout (4 a week): yes ~ (3/4)
Hello Shape Shifters. I had a busy Thursday. My dad came over to do laundry, shop with me and go for lunch. I got some clothes, birdfood, flower seeds for the butterflies in the summer, a fleece blanket and some other small things. I also got an adorable panda scratch board for Tinus, though I doubt he will use it. It was just too cute not to get! It can go on the wall which I think will be fun.
We set up a new wooden pole in the front garden with several bird feeders on them. I think it looks really nice and I have a perfect view of all the spots when I am sitting on the couch working on my puzzle. I saw a yellowhammer for the first time here yesterday which was cool as well. Two houses ago I got loads in the garden, but seems they aren't around a lot here. I love birds so much! I was really tired after lunch, so I mostly worked on the puzzle. I was very much not in the mood to workout (never am in the evening to be fair) but I did a 50 minute video regardless. Some random pictures under the spoiler. Happy Friday everyone
The panda scratch board is really cute! Hope Tinus will like it too!
We have a bird feeder on our balcony and I can see it from my side of the bed. I think it’s almost meditative, watching the „bird show“ in the morning. I wish you a lovely time watching the birds eat from the feeders in your front garden ☺️

My friends hubby passed around 1145 am cst. I'm sad for my friend but I also know her hubs isn't suffering. Life isn't always a bowl of cherries but you gotta live with it when the puts are thrown at you6

@Armygirlarmyof1 So sorry for your loss...
@Pupowl Love the panda board! Hope Tinus surprises you and enjoys it a lot!
Sorry I haven't been sharing much this week. Very busy time for me at work...and lots of stress. I didn't do too bad with my eating except for one day this week...glad it's the weekend!

@Armygirlarmyof1 I'm so sorry for your loss.
@pupowl - nice photos !!! Love those bird feeders!
@PatriceFitnessPal I'm not rooting for anyone in particular, but maybe the Eagles because I'm kind of a Broncos fan and the Chiefs are a rival. Mostly want a good game and good commercials.

Good morning Shape Shifters. Thanks for all the nice comments on my last post! So far Tinus hasn't even looked at the panda yet. I was feeling really exhausted yesterday. I worked on the puzzle a lot. I 'only' had the sky left and it was a nightmare! It was impossible to see where pieces were supposed to go, so I had to sort on shape and try everything everywhere. It took several hours! It was a gorgeous puzzle though, and besides the sky, it went pretty smoothly. I did a 46 minute workout in the evening and had an early night. Happy Saturday everyone3 -

I was excused for last week because I had a terrible week, so my PW was from two weeks ago. This week went much better with food. I am glad I stopped the gain train and had a little loss.5 -

Hello! Hope everyone is well. Love the new puzzle @Pupowl
Went to see my parents yesterday. Water damage not as bad as I feared, although there appears to be some more damage in one particular area, like water had been getting in over the years and my parents hadn't noticed. They haven't found a contractor yet to do the work.
The bigger issue is my parents hoarding. They have so much stuff it is getting harder to move around the house. I worry about safety and have expressed this in every way I can think of to no avail.
I took 8 garbage bags of things to good will, but it didn't even make a dent. I'm not sure how to address this. I've tried to throw things away before and that causes them great distress, My husband and I did a big clean out of the pantry etc when my dad was in the hospital last year. Threw out 30 bags of expired food and food containers (my mom keeps them all). My mother was very upset. Just because food is expired doesn't mean its bad- its just a marketing gimmick in her view. And she NEEDS 500 fast food plastic containers because she USES them. Then my brother came and he and I cleaned bathrooms, etc the best we could for two days. We were trying to make space for a hospital bed for my dad because he was really weak.
They really need to be in more of a retirement community situation, but they don't want to move- ever. My mom no longer drives and the neighborhood, which was nice when I was growing up, has a very high crime rate now. It worries me. My mother jokes that she's only going to live 21 more years so why worry about it? (She's 79 and assuming she will live until 100). I pointed out that in 21 years I'll be 74 and won't be physically able to address the mess issue and she doesn't respond.
I've offered to clean myself. I've offered to hire a junk removal company. I've offered to hire a weekly cleaning service (they couldn't get to anything right now though). I don't know how they can get the carpet replaced in the water damaged rooms (it is partially cut out) because there is so much stuff to move out of the rooms, but we are not even there yet. I've tried to explain when they do the sheet rock work on the walls, there will be a lot of dust so the rooms should be as empty as possible, with tarps covering what's left, and they just kind of stare at me.
Since I don't know what to do, I just tried to enjoy the afternoon with their company and pretended not too see the mess. It just makes me frustrated and upset, but they seem happy and content with their surroundings. They enjoy reading and we spent the afternoon mostly talking about books. Maybe I'm worrying to much?
Anyway- sorry to vent - this just feels like a safe space. I'm getting my hair done today and having lunch with a friend so it should be a nice day. I'll come back again in about a month to see if they've made any progress- earlier if they need me.
Take care everyone and enjoy the weekend!5 -

Sorry- I got off on a tangent and forgot to comment- love Mama Mia ! Cheesy and wonderful in the best way possible! Our local high school did a production a few years back and I so enjoyed it! Isn't it nice to be able to get back to these kind of things? I think that was the worst part of Covid for me- missing out on the arts.3 -

well, a bit of scale movement today. my weight changes every day by a couple of pounds, but this week compared to previous weeks, this is the highest weight this week and I am very happy about it.
@SavageMrsMoose I agree with you about missing out on live performances, I enjoyed from rock concerts to opera at the Kennedy center or musicals like Home Away, and believe it or not The Lion King was amazing, even though I can hear my kids reciting the whole movie in my head. and I agree, Mama Mia makes your heart smile with the music.
Things are going back to normal and looking forward to find something to go see.

Wow @nancyinmo bet that made you feel like a million bucks!! Congrats on the loss this week AND for the closet cleaning!! At one time, I struggled with that a lot...found it difficult to let go of them...not sure why as it really should be like you described...a point of great pride! Enjoy the time with your daughter. I used to work in Bloomington and used to live in Burnsville, Minnesnowta!

Gosh, that sounds really hard. And no, I don't think you are worrying too much. Hoarding that bad is a serious health concern not to mention a fire hazard. It really is a mental health disorder and it is really hard for loved ones/outsiders to deal with. I think I would try to get them to talk to a health care provider who specialises in hoarding problems. Until they both realise that what they are doing is problematic, I doubt there is anything you can do to fix it. Anything related to cleaning or throwing stuff away is too traumatising to even consider for them. If things keep getting worse and worse and becomes a threat to their health, you may need to contact local authorities. I really hope it won't come to that though.
@jessicakrall8
Thank you for the chat as well! I had never done any video call before so I was very nervous, but I think it went fine.4 -

Same weight again this week. 3 weeks in a row. This seems to be a trend for me, nothing nothing then whoosh. So hopefully that’s what happening. It is frustrating though, I’ve been excellent with tracking my food and keeping my macros around where I want them. Oh well 🤷♀️4 -

@SavageMrsMoose I can feel your pain in your posting about your parents and how deeply troubled you are...I can only imagine how you feel. It's obvious you've tried everything you can. I agree with the comment made by pupowl in that you need to reach out to a professional who can deal with the trauma and mental anguish your parents feel due to their phobia of letting go. I hope you find someone who can offer you some practical suggestions of further help for them. It's so hard being a caregiver and although I didn't deal with a hoarding situation, just any changes for them is difficult to handle. My mother had dementia and I was her only caregiver for 16 years. Any small changes in routine or anything really, caused a lot of upset. I imagine it's about the same in this situation...they can't help how they feel about the changes...and more than likely, they don't understand how they feel about it either, they just know change hurts.
We're here for you even if it's just to vent a little...at least that relieves a little of your stress. I AM glad that your parents have you...as some elderly have no one who cares.

Well, I didn’t see that coming. Looking back, there’s been a lot of stress eating this past week. Hoping things calm down in the coming week. It’s been three weeks since my cortisone shot in my knee and it appears it’s not going to improve any more. I was a facilitator at some training at my church today, and I could feel my knee getting swollen and stiff while standing. I’ve got three more weeks till my follow up appointment so I’m hoping to just limp along til then. I can’t do much to improve my mobility right now, but I can make better food choices.3 -
