Sue aka Tomsgal great job on your loss this week, but sorry if it was at the expense of being sick. 🫤
We are having bad storms today in St. Louis. I hate hail and tornadoes. Days like this I just want to get home. Back in the day I would totally go out in this weather (well, not with a tornado, but yes with heavy rain and thunder). The older I get the more weather cranky I get. 😆

@therealbluenote we don't have tornadoes 😯 but I'm with you on the weather. We used to live in New England (CT, MA and ME) and I would be out walking in wind, rain or subzero temperatures. Now I'm like "45 degrees? I'll stay inside TYVM" 😂2

And there went that loss. Still not getting any movement in and I’m still coughing. Speaking of weather, @therealbluenote & @DaffyGirl88, it’s raining cats & dogs this morning and we are under a tornado watch until 11.1 -

@Tomsgal1985 I don't mind at all. We lived in North Quincy. My husband was sationed on the USS Constitution in Boston.
YIKES! A tornado!!1 -
Good morning all and Happy Friday! Woot!! Off to the library used book sale today, one of my favorite days of the year. It's so big they hold at the county fairgrounds with whole buildings for fiction, nonfiction, childrens, etc. I went to the one in the town we are retiring to last year and it was in the library parking lot. 😔 That will take some getting used to.
Friday weigh in

Very cool, Sue, about your husband’s service. I thank him for serving! 🇺🇸1 -
I have been swamped with end of the year performances with my high school chorus. Sorry for the MIA. I even forgot to weigh in on Saturday. 🤦🏻♀️ Things should get better from here on out.
I wanted to let you know that next week I am having mini gastric bypass surgery. I have been researching bariatric surgery for a decade, but never had the money to afford it. I worked two full time jobs this year to save the money I needed. It was an exhausting year, but I’m glad I did it so that I could finally have the surgery. I have tried everything under the sun and always failed. I’m tired of failing. I know that the surgery is only a tool, just like Ozempic is for some and Weight Watchers for others. I am fully committed to putting in the work I need to do to make this successful! I just can’t go into my 60’s weighing 400 pounds. I can’t bear another decade being morbidly obese.
My assumption is this means I have to leave you all, because I will be losing quite a bit of weight, and this could be seen as unfair to the others in the group. Let me know. Of course I’d love to stay, but I also understand if I have to leave. ❤️2 -
@therealbluenote DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't catch that last part until my second time reading through your post. Honey, we have long since stopped being a contest of any type. There's only a handful of us left that ever come here anymore. Speaking for myself it's because I like you people. I like hearing about your wins and losses, struggles and ups & downs. What's happening in your lives, etc. I know that we're just a group of strangers on the interwebs but I feel like I know you and that I have somewhere I can go where there's people that understand me. I miss many of the people who have come, stayed awhile, and moved on. Others maybe not so much. I think about many of you frequently and am always happy to read a post, no matter how short, and whether it's here or on Stridekick. I know that we all have lives and jobs away from MFP,and we often drift away, but somehow we come back. I think it's cuz y'all can't stay away from me.
Having said all that...whew...you absolutely MUST let us know how the surgery goes! And how your recovery is going. No offense but we aren't exactly spring chickens anymore, recovery takes a bit longer than it used to. I am wishing the best for you and am looking forward to sharing in your success. You can always PM me.2 -

Thank you, friends! I just love you guys! And I’m looking forward to being more active so that I can get out of last place on Stridekick! 😆
Last week was a hot mess, as was the week before with regards to weight. No words, but I’m pretty sure I know why the epic fails occurred. It’s called last chance to fit in all my favorite foods before the surgery. 😬🙄😖😑
This week’s goals:
1. Make it safely through the surgery on Wednesday (prayers and positive thoughts are much appreciated!)
2. Liquid diet all week
3. Walking as much as the surgeon will allow
4. Staying positive through the pain and anxiety
I’m nervous, anxious, and hopeful. I haven’t had the “hopeful” part for years, and it feels good. I’ll keep you updated on my progress. Please pray for me or send me positive thoughts for this critical first week of recovery if you can.
Cheers to a healthier me!
And somebody invite me to this week’s Stridekick because I need y’all to gently remind me that I need to walk every day (according to the surgeon).1 -
@therealbluenote definitely sending good vibes and prayers, I will be sitting by my phone anxiously waiting for your post saying you made it through successfully. 🙂. There isn't a Stride Kick challenge for the coming week yet but will get on that. I'm in Buffalo visiting family and heading to Canada tomorrow for the day. Driving back to Maryland on Monday. This is your chance to beat me cuz I'll be in the car most of the day the next two days. 😂2

Tagging @JbeanR0212 let me know if this works ☺️1

I got back home yesterday. The surgery went well. I’m still adjusting to my new normal, but each day gets better! I’m taking it easy for a few more weeks, with short five minute walks being my only exercise per the surgeon’s orders. Thank you all for the prayers and positive thoughts!
The farmhouse I rented for my recovery was amazing. The perfect place to unplug and focus on healing. I’m always happiest in nature and near animals. I visited cows, horses, goats, and the farmers’ two Airedale terriers on my walks, with the occasional neighbor’s dog galloping quite a ways across the meadow to play with the terriers. Then at sundown we’d see the neighbor drive across the meadow in his golf cart looking for his dog to bring him home. I loved it!
Here is a picture of the cardinal who visited me at least twice every day at the hospital. He would be out there tapping the glass by 5am if I hadn’t opened the blinds yet. 😂
This is the farmhouse:
And this is a pic of me and my surgeon one week post-surgery. He is incredible. Such a calm demeanor. I thank God for him every day.

Me too! 😊0 -
Hi, ladies.
Hope you are all doing great!
Having a blah day and thought I would waste some more time and poke around MFP. I don't even recognize it anymore!! Is there no such thing as a news feed? Or finding members? I am on my laptop...is the app the same?
Thanks for the Stridekick challenges, Sue. I am not intentionally exercising right now, but every time I accept, I am hoping that I am inspired. Truthfully, my feet have been bothering me and I am kind of fearful of being on them for a long period of time. I kind of save them for the office, which I am at semi-regularly in the planting season.
I have been doing a completely different weight loss program, one that is holistic and addresses all the issues. It is going really well. I miss my MFP community of friends, but not the calorie restriction. Maybe I will do some group challenges in the fall, just to stay involved.
Cheers for now!

Yes, MFP got rid of the newsfeed. 😡
I really liked it because at least I got to see how everyone was doing. 🫤0 -

Exactly! What's the point now of having 'pals' on this app?0 -
Good morning Ladies!
To be honest I never really used the newsfeed. My phone defaults to my diary so I always just logged my food and then went to the forums. I went to my newsfeed maybe once a week just to see if anyone had hit a logging milestone. I never posted there and I don't close out my diary so there was nothing happening on my end. I always came here when I wanted to see you beautiful ladies.
Having said that I heard there is another way to get to a newsfeed, something about going to your profile. But I haven't cared enough to look into it. LOL0 -

We went, we saw a beautiful couple marry, I ate all the things, we came home, I continued to eat all the things 😭😩 Started physical therapy Tuesday and already have hope I can get back to a normal gait without pain. Why is it so easy to gain and so hard to lose?? 😳0 -
