I mentioned I'm shooting for 100% in July, and Nanc liked that, so here we go! What are you doing to be 100% in July? :)

So here are my goals and plan for July.

I actually managed to get out of the office at noon today! Hit up the grocery and home now. Plan for between today and tomorrow:
    • Got three bags o' salad. I use about half a bag per salad so they should last 6 days
    • Roast mini peppers for adding to salads (this is my new addiction sprinkle with a little balsamic and no-salt seasoning then roast... just cut 'em up and add to salads as needed)
    • Also have for the salads cocktail tomatoes, grapes, purple cabbage, pickled red onion
    • Make lemon tahini salad dressing
    • Big pot of onion, mushrooms, green and purple kale, collards, arugula, pinto beans
    • Roast broccoli (I honesty hate when I don't make this every week... sprinkle with coconut aminos and no-salt seasoning, roast until a bit brown but still a little crispy)
    • Roast root veggies (potatoes, turnips, carrots, parsnips)
    • Batch of farro for bowls with the roasted veggies

This should last me through Wednesday and I'll do another batch of greens and grab stuff for salads on Wednesday to get me through to the weekend and another big prep. I'll add chickpeas to my salads so I'm getting more beans.

I gave up on the leafside. Just wasn't enjoying them enough to justify the cost. Makes me sad because they sure are convenient. I prefer my own cooking.

Giving up ezekiel bread at least for a while. It is just too easy to overdo because I'm a starch addict. :( Only starches will be potatoes or whole grains like oats, farro, quinoa, brown rice, barley, etc. and I'll limit them.

No more junky stuff (blue corn chips and pretzels... I'm looking at you!)

Nanc, you are doing great! Losing is hard, maintaining is hard. Gaining is easy! So maintaining is a good thing. :)

    <3 y'all seriously

Oh, and by the way... last batch of pickled onions I added minced fresh cilantro along with the black peppercorns I usually add. OMG... so good!

And another oh, I forgot... exercise! Plan is to get back to first thing in the morning treadmill 20 minutes or so. At least I have some exercise in that way. Also strength 30 minutes 3 times a week, yoga for 10 minutes before bed every night. A few times a week I'll get in longer walks. These are reasonable goals and I can do it.

Thank you so much for starting us off, @Mihani Love the simplicity. You did a great job defining your goals and setting up a plan to get you there. Especially for you, with such a demanding job, your food needs to be prepped...and really that goes for all of us. Too easy to go off plan when we are tired and there is no preparation. So...keep to the three Ps...

    PLANNING, PREPARATION, PERSEVERANCE!

I know I can improve on my three goals for June as I did not meet one of them--lose five pounds, no Amazon spending, declutter, and organize the entire home.

I did better on my Amazon spending. I did not, however, stick to only spending on what I needed and not what I wanted. So that is Goal #1.

Goal #2 is to finish up my part of decluttering and organizing my home so I can get a cleaning lady in AND someone in to give me an estimate to enclose my patio (too embarrassed to have anyone see the mess) ... things just got way out of hand while I was rehabbing...but I do have a handle on three rooms...Kitchen, Living Room, and Dining Room. The kitchen will only need about an hour tomorrow and then steam mop all rooms. Not sure when I will get a cleaning lady in and the floors really need mopping in the meantime.

So this weekend...it's all about the Master bed and bath, Guest bed and bath, and LAUNDRY!

Goal # 3 And of course, here we are again, trying to lose just five pounds this month. I do know Mason Jar Salads for work are a lifesaver. I just have to continue to make time to prep them on Wednesday for my three-day workweek.

I think prepping veggies for snacking will definitely help me stay away from so many crackers and uh oh, CHIPS!

I have to tighten up nighttime after dinner nibbling. ONE dessert and that's it.

I need to make a better effort in getting my juicing done once a week. Especially carrot apple. That carrot juice is key for me for...I know it. I know it from my past experience from juicing years ago. Best physical health ever. I think that's one of the things that saved my life when I was dx with Ewings Sarcoma. I was a big juicer back then...and my body was set up to fight the dragon and withstand the onslaught of all those chemicals used to slay the dragon.

I have a five-pound bag of organic carrots in the fridge, apples, lemons, and ginger to make my own juice tomorrow. But for today, I will splurge and once again use Nekter to make my juice...THE BUZZ. 32 oz!

    Today's Plan...

    coffee
just egg (2) folded with jam
    carrot/orange juice
mason jar sushi bowl salad 1/2
    peach
    other half of salad
    ninja creami

Making life healthy and delicious living off PLANTS!

    Happy Canada Day!
We will just miss the celebrations in both countries. We are here in the US for Canada day and will be in Canada for the 4th of July.

My plan for the island is lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and plenty of walking and hiking. I want to lose weight on this vacation! I have to remind myself that eating isn't entertainment and that I can have a great time while eating healthy AND enjoying the food AND getting in plenty of enjoyable activity. Lofty goals, we'll see.

Donna, your photos are beautiful! Thanks for posting. When can you start eating less mushy food?

Happy Canada Day, Carla! Awesome plan for your trip.

Nanc, love your visualization! And your plan and goals sound great!

So, I went to the office this morning and my computer was wonky. Tried to reboot and got a system failure. Called our computer guy and he was able to get one of his guys there. We're going with the supposition this is a computer problem, except after a couple hours we realized I had ransomware! All our data is encrypted. Thank God and every other deity that I have things backed up but I have to wait until Monday to talk to the people and get it restored, because we don't have the bazillion dollar version where you get 24/7 help. I am so angry and stressed and upset I can't even. Nothing like spending 8 hours in the office, on a Saturday, and not being able to get any work done. My computer had to be wiped out and restored so I still have a lot to do to get everything back to where I had it.

Tomorrow I will get my prepping and cooking done because I will STILL have a 100% July. It's just going to start on July 2nd because I'm having a good stiff drink right now. LOL

The really scary thing is that because the ransomware corrupted the system and it never gave me a popup to pay up, if I didn't have it backed up we'd have lost everything. Holy crap. I'm just a wreck. I'm going to look at secondary backups now, because we need to be extra safe. I am SO careful about links, attachments, etc. and have no idea how this slipped through, or why the anti-virus didn't catch it!

So anyway, I had oats with berries and chia/flax and cinnamon for breakfast, and nothing since. Dinner will be some mashed potatoes with beans and broccoli.

@Mihani Oh man! That’s horrible not to mention scary!

Good thing you had the IT guy helping you

Hope you can relax tonight. B)

I have two hours to go…no chips…not easy but I did it.

My focus right now is on tomorrow. So that means I wanna go to sleep with a perfect day under my belt so that I wake up fresh and ready to go as I follow my plan tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good night. Stay safe and sleep well..

Happy Canada Day July 1. I love the goals idea.

We got home yesterday and immediately picked up the pups. I wish we could have taken them because they would have loved to get out of the heat.

Came back to our clean our and with all the mail and unpacking it is very cluttered. Did 4 loads of washing after going to an estate sale with friends. Brooks had to move our hosts plants because I thought they were safe on the north side of the house but turns out they get full sun most of the afternoon. Boo. I hope they survive. Then we did water changes with the aquariums.

    100% Goals

Going to start swimming laps on Wednesday when the indoor pool opens. I can swim until July 18th when I have the cataract surgery.

Going to start indoor treadmill at the gym on base 2-3 times and alternate with spin bike. My walking pace is way to slow due to Mr. Grubby Pants aka Charlie Bear stopping to mark or smell every 3 feet. The walk is really their time out of the house and they want to sniff and checkout the neighborhood. Rest of the time they are inside. I want to get strong again.

Struggling with food. I tried advancing my diet as I was told I could after the 4th week. It did not go well. I am having a lot of pain were the surgeon sutured the hole in my diaphragm around my esophagus and stomach. It was so scary I stayed with soup, yogurt, scrambled eggs and refried beans. Brooks made me mashed potatoes tonight and that was ok. I have never been a fan of mashed potatoes. Maybe tomorrow I will buy a sweet potato and mash it up. I think I need to roast a bunch of vegetables in vegetable Better than Bouillon.

Magic - I too think your visualization is positive.

Mihani - Great goals for the month! Sorry about the ransomware. That is frustrating to say the least.

Carla - Have a great vacation!

JNetti - I love that you don't want to boil or poison what ever ground creatures you have in your garden. Watering sounds like a great idea. I think we have a skunk under our front porch or a fox. They dug a hole while we were gone. I don't really care as we walk the dogs on leash on the base and the skunks really are out at night and early a.m. A lot of people freak out with all the skunks on this base and have them trapped and killed. We don't have a fenced back yard so the dogs won't ever be able to chase them and get skunked. When we see a skunk they do that little stomping with their front feet and we go in another direction...they stomp as a warning before they let loose the stinky smell.

Beautiful pics, Bisky! Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Bet the pups were happy to see you.

Nanc, hope your day goes to plan. Say hi to Lulu from me!

I forgot about hitting the treadmill first thing, but honestly I'm feeling the effects of two drinks last night and will wait until later anyway. I am such a lightweight anymore shouldn't feel like crap after just a couple drinks. :p

Have a couple loads of clothes to wash and want to change the bed and wash all the towels, etc. Figure I'll get the cooking done as I do laundry. Hope to have all that finished by noon then start on some work. What I can do without access to the data anyway.

    Plan for today...
B - oats with berries, chia/flax, a few walnut halves, cinnamon, almond milk
L - big ol' salad (lettuce, carrot, purple cabbage, pickled onions, roasted mini peppers, grapes, lemon tahini dressing, chickpeas), an apple
D - big ol' bowl with farro, roasted veggies, greens and beans, watermelon
  • Mihani
    Mihani Posts: 4,102 Member
Getting things done! Second load of laundry in the dryer. I will probably put off the linens until tomorrow or Tuesday. I decided against getting any work done today. It's so frustrating and I am still pretty keyed up from yesterday's events so I think I'll concentrate on things I can control today.

So far broccoli is roasted, mini peppers and roasted root veggies in the oven and almost done. Next up is getting all the greens cleaned and saute them with onion and mushrooms and add pinto beans. Oh, and make the pot of farro. That has become my new favorite grain.

I'm not buying bags of potatoes anymore though. The last several bags I've found a really nasty potato or two. I'll buy the ones that are loose and I can inspect them before I buy!

@bisky love the pictures, especially since I live in the desert. Everything looks so cool and inviting.

Hope your issues with your surgery resolve soon. We did not have the same thing...that's for sure. I was a bit out of it for just a couple of days and that was just because of the anesthesia's side effects. Hoping you get better soon.

Great job getting to it, @Mihani . Those peppers look divine. Scrumptious in fact.

Focused on what I did do today...45 minutes on the bike. Lulu kinda lost out on a good walk since we did not get started early enough. The heat is on.

    today's plan

    coffee
just egg liquid with spinach and peppers and onions
    lunch...hmmmmmmm...refried bean tostada
Sushi bowl for dinner...making it up fresh.
    cherries for dessert

Somewhere in there 16 oz of freshly made, carrot/appl/lemon/ginger juice.

Have a great day everyone...make it deeeeeeeeee licious.

Good morning! Having my coffee and then heading to the office. I have more work to do getting my computer set up after it was reformatted and I want to call right at 9 am about getting our files restored from the backup.

Got all my cooking done yesterday. The roasted root veggies turned out delicious! I used 4 russet potatoes, a large turnip, two parsnips, and 3 carrots. Chopped and put in a casserole dish, drizzled with veggie broth, added no salt seasoning and lots of pepper. Baked at 425 covered with foil for about 30 minutes then removed the foil and let them brown a bit maybe another 10 minutes in the oven.

    Today's plan...
B - oats with berries, cinnamon, chia/flax, a few walnut halves, almond milk
L - big ol' salad (lettuce, roasted mini peppers, roasted broccoli, cocktail tomatoes, lemon tahini dressing)
D - big ol' bowl of rice (couldn't find the farro thought I bought a new bag), roasted veggies, greens and beans with mushrooms and onion

Forgot to make the pickled onions. I will do that this morning before I head to the office.

Got a few things done on my list...focusing on the positive...so I am good with that.

    today's plan

    coffee
just egg liquid with spinach and bell peppers and onions
    watermelon
    refried bean tostadas
carrot/apple/ginger/lemon juice...just like nekter's THE BUZZ (cept theirs is made with oranges instead of apples), but I made it...made 2 1/2 quarts yesterday.
Dr. Prager veggie burger with LTO and ketchup

    ninja creami

hope your day is deeeeee licious! cheers B)

@Mihani how do you make your pickled onions? TIA

Nanc, pickled onions are SO easy. Tip from Hello Nutritarian. Just dice up your red onion, add white vinegar and let them mellow. I usually add whole peppercorns and sometimes a little cumin. I think they are best on days 2 through 7. They get so yummy.

This was a rough day at the office. The backup download is taking a LONG time so I finally left and came home at 3:30. Hopefully it's done in the morning and we can actually restore files. I am just thinking geeze... 3 days in the office (including tomorrow) not really getting work done sucks. Can you imagine how much I could get done if I was really working??? I did get some work done using the front office computer, but without our data it's limited what I can do.

I'm just so happy that I signed up for this backup/disaster recovery plan. It wasn't that expensive and we'd be completely screwed if we didn't have it.

I stayed to plan EXCEPT... admit I stress ate a handful of PB pretzels mid-afternoon. I will do better tomorrow.

Well...one room done. The bedroom. I went through all my clothes and got rid of almost everything that I have not worn in years. Found some summer clothes to wear. Brooks came home early and was inspired and went through his clothes. I snagged a Patagonia vest and a long sleeve T-shirt from his pile. So embarrassing but he use to weigh less than me. I have lost weight and he has gained 10 lbs around his middle. I went through my closet, my clothes chest and dresser. I am inspired by goals for July and the fact in 2025 will be our last military move. Tomorrow the bathroom. Then 2 days at least for the kitchen. Last on my list will be my craft room.

So a non scale victory. I went to J Jill for the summer sale and bought 2 dresses xl without trying them on. Both were too big so today I traded them in for size L. Maybe someday it will be M again. J.Jill had 40% off what was marked down and then because it is my BD month with my J Jill credit card I got an additional 20% off. So the dresses were $28.00! Linen and cotton, perfect for this hot weather.

I have not gained the weight I lost since end of January and down another lb. today. Will see what happens when I can eat regular food again. I am dying for a large salad with beans. I was in a hurry and added blueberries and banana to my premade protein shake....it was horrible...sickly sweet. I use those protein shakes in emergencies and they are high in protein and even vegan but horribly sweet and the fruit made it worse. :#

Mihani I have to try the pickled onion recipe! Glad you are recovering from the computer virus.

Magic - I love refried beans tostada....I can at least eat refried fat free beans.

Mornin' all... wish me luck today! The download should be finished by now so I'll be in the office before 9 and call the company to get our files restored. This has all been very frustrating to say the least. I hope to be up and running and getting some work done by mid-morning.

Will stay to plan today... same as yesterday minus the PB pretzels.

Bisky that's awesome you finished that project! That's one I need to tackle yet. I have so many clothes that should go. Yay for new dresses especially on sale!

Will get a workout in tonight. Strength for 20 to 30 minutes plus 10 minutes or so of yoga.

Up early with a yummy cuppa...

Great job on the decluttering and organizing, @bisky ...keep it up! Sure hope you get to eat real food soon. You're a trooper to do so well under the circumstances. Like I said my hernia repair was a whole like easier than yours.

Good luck, @Mihani at work today...(hope you don't have to spend too much time there)...I am going to try the onions today. Lulu loves all those hellos, btw.

    today's plan...similar to yesterday's

    coffee
    Just Egg Frozen with jam
Pasta sauce with veggie and Gardein ground b'ef (veggies: chopped onions, mushrooms, one red bell pepper, one yellow bell pepper, one zucchini) oh, and SPAGHETTI! B)
    Carrot Apple juice
yogurt with fresh fruit and grape nuts.
    ninja creami
    Make it delicious!

Happy 4th everyone...Alexa wakes me up on my work days to Toby Keith's Courtesy of the Red White and Blue.

    July's Exercise:
    7/2 45 min bike
    7/3 45 min bike
7/4 25 min Lulu walk and 30 min bike

We're back! Thank goodness for the backup/recovery plan that I signed up with. This has been a maddening 4 days. I've rarely been this stressed and angry. I hate cyber criminals! I am going to chill for a while and take a nap then see if I can get anything done this evening.

Stuck to the plan today at least. Not sure about my workout. Depends on when I wake up and how I feel. Maybe I will just take a walk this evening instead. Would clear my head.

Nice job on the exercise, Nanc.

Yay for early morning walks. I am sure Lulu was happy. Brooks walks the dogs at 0500. Then I walk them for a mile at 0800. They have no desire to out in the heat for the rest of the day.

Mihani - I am glad it is under control at work. Good for you that despite the horrible stress you were able to stick to the plan.

I swam for the first time since surgery...I was only going to swim 15 for first time out but it felt so good I did 30 min. I think the 100% goal has me more committed. Tomorrow will be a walk and stationary bike day. Still haven't made my soup yet. I think I will start with roasting the zucchini, squash, egg plant and mushrooms. Then later sauté the onion, carrot, celery and garlic. I am really tired today. I think it is the heat.

Nice job on the walking, Nanc. See any coyotes this morning?

Woohoo on 30 minutes swimming, Bisky. Sounds like you are recovering pretty steadily but it's never fast as we'd like. The soup sounds intriguing. I love roasted veggies.

Today went fine and everything is working well. Whew! I'm still anxious it will happen again though. I went in extra early just to check on everything. I'm going to have to work a lot this weekend to make up for all the actual work time I lost last weekend. Grrrr.

Stuck to the plan again today except I ate probably 2 oz of pistachios instead of 1 oz. I know better than to sit down with the whole bag! I ate some of the greens and beans for breakfast and it seemed to set me up for a good day on plan.

Cantaloupe was mushy and went in the trash but the watermelon is really good.

great job in the pool, bisky...I hope to add that to my exercise regime soon.

happy that things went well at work, Mihani...here's to safety going forward...
