I haven’t read too much of the post but I just wanted to shout this out to you guys because I’m not real happy right now.

My coworker said she has lost 18 pounds already and you should do this and I said no I shouldn’t do this it’s not for me but I’m really happy for you so that’s great but she goes well Barbara, and this girl she’s lost 8 pounds in three days.

So I looked at her and I said no it’s just really not for me.

And she said again I really think you should do this

I woke up at 3 am and wasn't able to get back to sleep so I just got up at 3:30 and going to get on with my day. Last day before the boss heads out.

Nanc, I forget what plan you said your co-worker is doing but a couple thoughts. First off, I don't know whether your co-worker is significantly overweight, but if so it's easy to knock off a quick 20 pounds with any plan if you have a lot to lose. You and I are pretty close to the same weight and goal, and it's a real struggle to lose that last 20 to 25 pounds. Especially as we get older.

My other thought is that, despite the struggle to actually lose the last 20 pounds, my labs are all great and I feel good. I would feel a lot better if I could get my work-life and stress under control of course.

So I feel like this is as much or possibly more about health than weight loss. If I am perfectly honest there are diet and life-style reasons why I'm struggling. Pretty sedentary job, not enough consistent exercise, and too many indulgences like cocktails on the weekends and junky food too often. I just think back to 20 or 25 years ago when I still ate meat and the endless days of skinless boneless chicken breast. Ugh! WFPB is so much more variety and flavor.

Anyway, we all get enthusiastic about things when we start out. I wish your co-worker nothing but the best, but we all know how hard it is to stick over the long haul when things get tough and you aren't seeing the quick results you want.

I think all you can do is smile and say "I'm so happy it's working for you!" and keep on keepin' on your own path.

    Thanks so much @Mihani

First she was on something called I think red Mountain weight loss and she spent $2000 there and you get shots

She’s in her mid-50s I think and she was about 160 and wants to get down to 130 I think. 5’2”

She’s onto another program she left red Mountain weight loss and now she’s on to another program where they also get some kind of shots I don’t know what they’re for and

And it’s not something I would ever do. It’s just that it’s aggravating because look look at us. We’re losing all this weight you should do it too.

And you know what there’s no way I’m doing it. I’m happy with the way. We’re eating. I love my food. I feel great. I haven’t taken an Advil since I started plant-based eating back in 2019. I used to buy the giant bottles of Advil gel at Costco, and I go through them pretty regularly

The reason I knew I had Covid in December 2020 was because I had a headache and I never get headaches anymore

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the encouragement. I really appreciate it. I’m gonna just keep doing what I do and you’re right just smile and say I’m so happy it’s working for you.

    Thank you very very much.

PS and by the way, she is a bit of a bully. So I have to keep that in mind

Magic - Didn't you lose a lot of weight? I would show your co worker before and after pics....and state eating vegetables, fruits, nuts and beans has worked wonders for your health. Remember it is not the Rabbit who wins the permanent weight loss race. It is not a number on the scale but it is health, energy and cancer prevention that these micronutrients provide. Are they eating a lot of processed shakes and protein bars? Crap that is not good in the long run. My guess is they are dieting on fake foods, shots and coffee. Boo.

so they are doing the HCG with a very low calorie diet. HCG was popular about 2010 and the people I know all gained weight back and they some. It is very expensive. They should put that money into buying high quality food. Look at these reviews of the first place you mentioned they were going to: https://www.bbb.org/us/az/scottsdale/profile/weight-loss/red-mountain-weight-loss-1126-1000003351/customer-reviews

I think you handled it very well. Losing weight is a struggle and people that are morbidly obese have very little chance of losing and keeping it off unless they make major lifestyle changes.

Carla - I think while it is disappointing you lost out on that cabin you can make your plans and find something even better. Could your parents be co-signers on the lease? The pictures you posted look beautiful.

Mihani - Is this the weekend you are taking off? What are your plans?

Getting ready to go grocery shopping. Have a craving for Bok Choy....I wonder why...or some type of green stir fry. Had delicious broccolini last night and for lunch. I am almost afraid to eat anything except in a simple form such as fruit, vegetables, nuts and beans and occasional eggs.

I have to look for the perfect spray bottle to fill up with ice and water for this weekend to cool off dogs and people. We are meeting our friends early Sunday for a hike. Also taking care of neighbor's 2 labs while they are gone. Such sweet dogs. Brooks and I walked them at 0500 this a.m. for 15 min. They are not use to being walked...they have a little backyard and pretty much are indoors all day. They loved their walk and were so good. I am going to go buy them chew bones from the vet while on my errands.

Nanc, you're stronger than you think! :)

Bisky, I've had several lab mixes over the years. They are very happy being couch dogs or getting out and walking or pretty much whatever. They just want to do whatever you want to do! I am craving bok choy too, but I don't have any.

Looked at the reviews you linked (which I didn't read a lot of but are horrifying) and the HCG (which I googled and is also horrifying never heard of that!) and good grief, why would anyone want to do that? But I get that people can become desperate to lose weight and that's why weight loss programs make billions.

So I made it through today, boss is off on his vacation tomorrow. Yay! This has been one of the most stressful months I ever remember. I am soooo looking forward to (hopefully) a quieter week where I can get some stuff done.

I feel so bad for these dogs. We are having a quiet evening so Brooks is going to bring them over here and see how they do. Cleo will pitch a royal fit over having a male dog here so until we know everyone is going to behave we are keeping CB and Cleo in their crates to be on the safe side. They are so sweet.

I was sick after having the rest of the broccolini today. Just having tomato soup and vegan refried pinto beans (from a can called Seite I found in the commissary) and vegan cheese, also from the commissary, delicious. Do you think I can just live on beans? They make my stomach happy. The commissary also restocked on Banza pasta. We went to the "Gucci" grocery store and bought beautiful Ranier Cherries and peaches....all from Washington! Plus blueberries from NJ. I love this time of the year.

Awww Donna... sorry you are still not feeling well. I have bought some Siete brand items before. They are good but pricey.

Got my internet provider switched today and it is blazing fast! My login issues with MFP that have been going on for a couple months appear to be over as well. Logged right in just now. Yay for internet that works properly!

I'm enjoying my day off today. Other than the internet tech guy (very nice and polite young man) I haven't had to deal with anybody or anything. I haven't even checked emails. I'm on strike! LOL

Tomorrow I will get some work done but will work from home. If I go to the office at all it will just be to check on things and go through the mail that would have been delivered today.

Soooo looking forward to this week and hope to do some catching up while the boss is away.

B - ezekiel english muffin with a smidge of PB, cantaloupe
    L - skipped it
D - lentil soup from the freezer stash, ezekiel toast, berries and almond yogurt

To finish off my "strike" day I'm going to read, nap, eat dinner, read some more, nap some more, go to bed. A lot to do yet today! LOL

I wasn't completely lazy. I did clean the kitchen this morning.

Thank you Mihani. Since the surgery my stomach has not been too happy. Then I really messed it up with the chowder.

Today I took it easy. I forgot last week we made a black bean soup and froze it. Yay.

Went to an Estate sale and a thrift store. I found a beautiful painting in a heavy wood frame that could be of Italy or France for $20.00 plus a heavy antique lamp. I was shopping and Brooks went on a 35 mile bike ride early this a.m. We walked all dogs at 6:00 a.m. The labs are older and not use to walking so we try to get them out early for a short walk. They just love it, smelling and looking at everything. Tomorrow we are meeting friends for the land bridge hike at 6:00 a.m. CB needs to rest up for that walk plus he might end up in the backpack again.

    Morning all...

I just have to tell you, cutting back on my hours by three (now I go home at 6 instead of 7) was the smartest move ever. Besides more Lulu time, eating dinner at home and not having to make sure I have prepped three meals for work takes a whole lot of stress off of me. I love it.

Things are a whole lot better with my coworker...I made sure she understood that the program was not for me, but I was happy that it was working for her AND that she looked great. THE END!
And ladies, thank you for your words of encouragement.

Sleeping better...not sure but these two things may have to do with it:

not having sweet desserts...but having something... a single serving of HIPPEAS. Gives me that "something" special after dinner without sugar.

AND...my hair stylist is using spray magnesium oil on her feet and suggested it to me. I have used it three times...it definitely relaxes you. So even if I don't get much sleep, I am much less restless. You spray mag oil on your feet, let it air dry in bed and voila...it kinda works.

Glad you took a "me" day, Mihani...you sure deserve it...and you got a fast internet supplier...that for sure will make life easier.

Sorry bout so many tummy issues, Donna. I must not have had as a severe case as you...my hernia was in the middle of my abdomen and after a few days of liquid, I was back on food. Hope things get better soon.

    Today...

    coffee
just egg folded with jam, cantaloupe
leftover taco meat with beans...into romaine boats! (I think...or a big taco salad)
Dr. Praeger veggie burger with LTO
    Hippeas and tea

Guy came to give me an estimate of patio...well, he has to email it after he figures out the cost, etc. I did not like him. I liked the company but he did not represent the company well. I told him I wanted WINDOWS and SCREENS.

Just screens, I still get dirt from the wind and the gardeners with their blowers.

He said, well, it's going to be very hot. He almost talked me out of it. I spent some time talking to a friend and realized he really did almost talk me out of what I WANTED.

I want to be able to sit out there whenever I wish WITHOUT HAVE TO CLEAN THE DANG PLACE UP.

It's so filthy out there...my new furniture hardly got used and it is so dirty. I have a gal coming over on Wednesday to help me clean it. The cushions are material but do not come off to wash. You have to use a brush and a damp rag or something. Well, in this heat I need help doing it.

We will clean up the whole patio and then I will cover the furniture.

The second guy is coming over on Tuesday for an estimate. THEY absolutely advertise THREE season rooms and windows with screens ...so hoping these peeps are better.

Housework and laundry to do today...thunder right now, rain coming soon.

    Making every day deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious!

Glad you were able to take things a little easy, Donna. Enjoy your black bean soup!

Nanc, glad you didn't get talked into something you don't want with the patio. Yay for the new hours working out so well.

I ran down to the office for a few hours just to get a jump on the week. Have some things to do around here like laundry and cooking, and some bookwork at my desk. I should be able to get everything done.

Bought an app called HabitNow. You can set up reminders to do things daily or certain days, and mark them off, and it keeps statistics on how well you are doing meeting your goals. Hoping it will help me with getting into a better routine with things like keeping up on housework, getting to bed on time, strength training twice a week, walking daily, etc. It was only $4.99 one-time purchase for the premium app which gives you unlimited tasks and habits, plus sub-goals and some other features. Figured why not. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on the app and I think it will be helpful.

As soon as the laundry goes into the dryer I'll head up to my desk and should be done by dinnertime. Definitely going to be an early to bed night.

B - ezekiel english muffin with a smidge of PB, cantaloupe
L - baked beans on ezekiel toast
D - big ol' salad, last of the cantaloupe (until I cut into the new one I just bought on the way home)

Feeling much better today. Did the hike starting at 0700. CB did end up in the backpack for a short distance. He just has little stubby grubby paws.

Went to one of my favorite Mexican food restaurant. I had refried black beans. Then black bean soup for lunch plus the delicious WA cherries...reds and Raniers.

Good for you Magic - telling your co worker she looks great but the diet isn't for you! Think of what you can do with all the money you are saving by not being on that diet. :D

I have a friend who put a sunroom on her back patio with screens and windows. She also has these inexpensive roll up shades on the outside of the sunroom plus a ceiling fan. It is so nice even when it is 105* here.

Mihani - you have had a very productive day!

Carla - I hope the fire by the border in eastern B.C. avoids your area.

Three Dr appointments next week plus a friend having surgery at BAMC (Brooke Army Medical Center). I keep finding beautiful crystal flower vases at the thrift stores....no one wants crystal anymore. I am buying some flowers at Trader Joes and arranging them in a vase for her.

Morning all...I just have to say, if you are restless at night...trying the magnesium oil spray on your feet might be worth a try.

Now, I am not sure if I am just in my cycle of sleeping better and it is coinciding with the spray, or if the spray is totally working. In either case, when I can get five hours of sleep, I am so happy, and that is how it has been since last Thursday night.

Bisky, love that you told me about your friend and her sunroom. The new people are now coming over tomorrow at 2pm to give me a quote and an idea.

The first people still have not gotten back to me with a quote.

Today, my organizer is helping me with the photo albums. Somehow I inherited all of my parent's pictures...which is fine. I bought an Epson scanner two years ago for the purpose of getting all the photos scanned in. Some of the very old pictures I will save...I mean how can I toss em and I have no one to give them to, unless my niece will take them. The newer albums from the 80s, I will toss. It will be hard to toss so many pictures from my childhood ... I will have to figure that out. I am using Wayne Fox on Youtube as my guide.

Mihani, I am intrigued by the app. Looking it up now. Not finding it on iPhone app store.

    Today's plan:

    coffee
    just egg folded with jam
    vegan pizza with organizer
stir fry broc, tofu and rice
    fruit
    Hippeas

    making life deeeeeeeeee licious.

Magic - these are the shades she had installed on the outside of her sunroom. They have been up for 3 years and looks great.https://www.lowes.com/pd/Coolaroo-Outback-Exterior-Roller-Shade-Mocha-Light-Filtering-Cordless-OutdoorRoller-Shade-Actual-122-75-in-x-72-in/50223029

Thanks, Bisky...I will show the new peeps to give them an idea of what I am trying to accomplish.

Just to make sure I understand...the shades are hooked up on the outside of the screens/windows? Not on the inside?

My guest room/office is once again all cute and very sweet. Very happy and the stress has faded away.

We got started on the picture project. She is coming back on the 21st to continue. She is a techie, besides being a super organizer. I never could have believed my home would be so organized. Now, with my knees all healthy...I am so very grateful.

Magic - Please send your organizer this way!

Yes, The shades are hung on the outside. The sun porch faces west and in the afternoon until sun goes down gets direct light. She did not have them before and her furniture was taking a hit plus it was still hot. With drapes it made her sunporch very dark (might as well stay inside). So around noon she lowers the outdoor shades. They filter in a little light. She has house plants in her sunroom and did not want to filter out all the light. It is pleasant in there now with just a ceiling fan even when it is 105* and humidity is up. Next time I am over there I will take pictures or I will ask her to send me a picture today. Also with shades inside....you have to clean them and they get dusty if windows are open.
