HOW IT ALL WORKS: The May challenge runs for five weeks, from April 28 - June 1.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get May underway!

Welcome to May 2024!
I am Liselyn, co-captain along with @ashleycarole86. After this month, @lauren_989 will be taking my place and I will be moving on to other pursuits. I am sure I'll drop by from time to time, though - I have been with this team for a long time, and it is very dear to me.
I know there are people on this team who have a lot to lose, others who have lost a lot and are closing in on their goals, and some who might be working on losses that are stubbornly resisting. There is much wisdom here, and the most important lesson we learn from each other time and time again is that it is not a straight shot, there will be trials and errors, and sticking with it when it feels like you have fallen off yet again is the best thing you can do for yourself. Plateaus can be good, but going back the way you came is not!
Some helpful information/tools:
Posting your daily updates
We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...
Weighing in
Please try to weigh in on time (but don't sweat it if you have to use a different day sometimes)! Put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, you can request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can be moved to the "Support Team" where you still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.
The F2F Habit Tracker
If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try. You can see how your teammates are doing too The link and how-to info are under "Announcements" on the main F2F page, or click here:

So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live (if you're willing to share that), what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. We're going to work hard together and enjoy ourselves2 -
Hey all! Co-captain here.
Ashley, late 30s, living in Alberta, Canada. My husband and I both work corporate jobs with a long commute. My mother who is not well lives in our basement. We have two cats and one dog and my mom has a dog too.
Both my husband and I have had weight issues for a long time. We were both at our highest weights when we hopped on this team. I'm nearly 50 pounds lower than that today but 70 pounds higher than where I'd like to be.
I did it once. Mindset is key. I like athletic pursuits and healthy food but I eat as a response to almost anything and I'm constantly fighting to rein that in.
Looking forward to a fun May!5 -

Thanks ☺️ excited to be here. I’m 42F, married, own 3 businesses, have 3 kids, 3 pets, and 2 volunteer positions (BBBS and St Jude’s). I’ve been recovering from a minor surgery (nothing serious) but I can’t tell you how eager I’ve been to get out of bed and do something! This is just what I need to kickstart May. I’ll do my best to be active here and support you all and can’t wait to see everyone’s improved health and wellness in 5 weeks! I’ll take before and after pics for fun, cause why not. Good luck everyone.

This month I am going back to basics and focusing on tracking everything I eat. I have been doing very well with exercise, going to a body pump class and a couch to 5k plan (my race is on Saturday!).
Welcome new folks and I hope we all have a great month!4 -

Hi team! How's everyone doing?
I'm Ruth, 65F retired IT manager. I've lost about 30 lbs since last fall but I still need to lose a lot more. I've started to drift back into bad habits, especially too much snacking. I remembered using MFP to log my food a long time ago, so I made a new account and here I am.
My current goals are to limit snacking, pay attention to protein and sugar, and to stop slacking on my activity rings.
I'm stuggling a bit with exercise atm. I started using a rowing machine last fall and was doing really well with it. Unfortunately (or stupidly) I ignored some mild pain in my left hamstring while I was rowing, and it's turned into tendonitis. I'm taking a break from the rower and doing some exercises to strengthen it, but not much else. I think I need to start doing some kind of full body strength training or maybe yoga.

GW 130, but realistically I'd be thrilled with anything under 1507 -

Hi team - can't believe it's May already!
I'm Kay, 29, living in Boston and working in finance. Struggle with binge eating and emotional eating, for the last decade or so - joined this team originally in Aug 2020 and took a few (ill-fated) breaks since then. I reached an all-time high weight in 2023 and I really want to be down some noticeable chunk by my 30th birthday (late October - a month when I am also in a wedding party). The last 2 months straight I have been stuck in the same 6lb range, and I am so done with that. Hoping to break through this month. Big on home workouts and meal prep - don't count calories anymore, primarily focus on protein.
@jugar and @EvMakesChanges so sorry for your loss - glad the last visit was a good one. you are both in my thoughts4 -
Great job team for coming in first for the last week in April and 3rd overall for the whole month! 🎉
So today was a good day. I ended up eating more than I thought I would at the wedding last night (not a huge shocker) but got back on track today! I posted a pic below of hubby and me from last night.
I did some weeding in the yard, transplanted some of my zuccini and yellow squash into bigger pots and am trying tomatoes again. My house doesn't have a lot of sunlight for peppers, do any of my gardening friends use an artificial sun lamp? What type or brand do you use?
I also was able to go for a walk/jog today. It was 79 and sunny out and absolutely gorgeous. My 2 neighbors on either side of us were outside so I got to say hi and chat a bit with them.

@jugar @ashleycarole86 @lauren_989 please add me to the regular team this month. I will weigh in on Saturday and my starting weight is 250.75

Hi, I'm Kristi, 41, married with 3 kids. I live near Spokane Washington in the US. I have 2 dogs and 4 guinea pigs. I work full time as a school based occupational therapist. I have made many attempts to lose weight and I usually lose about 20 or 30 lbs get completely stuck and regain. I tend to try the same method over and over again. I even worked with a wellness coach which I felt was confirmation I was doing things right since her method was similar to what I've tried. Unfortunately I had similar results with my wellness coach. I was frustrated and so was my coach.
I have been learning about metabolic adaptation and I think I might fall into this category. I reviewed some of my old data in my fitness pal and realized I drop weight for 10-12 weeks and then I stop. I'm going to try some different things. I'm going to use a diet break schedule. Eat in a deficit for 8-10 weeks, then maintenance for 1-2 weeks. I'm not doing any HIIT or cardio besides walking. I'm weight training 2 days a week for 1 hour each time. I'm using a phased weight training program. Eating more calories than I use to. My deficit calories are 500 calories higher than on previous plans. I'm keeping the same macros I've used in the past 30% protein 35% fat
35% carbs.
I'm really looking forward to trying something different and I hope I like the results.6 -
Hi I’m Michele. Soon to be 60!! Married, two grown children and a 6 year old granddaughter. I’m a teacher. I live in the Philadelphia, PA area in the US. Been with the team for over 5 years. I’m back after taking the last month off on support. I am currently at a near all time high and it just keeps going up. I do believe that lack of hormones may have something to do with it. But before I pursue that with a doctor, I need to get back to some of my good habits I know are still in there.
I’ve struggled with my weight all of my adult life. Being post menopausal and almost 60, my body does not react the way it used to. Frustrating. So…I plan to make little tweaks at first, starting with moving more. I went out and took a walk today. Proud of that. My neighborhood is beautiful. There will be more walks. Even if only 20 minutes. I also plan to find some weight program. Any suggestions are welcome. I’m a beginner beginner. No more constant gains. My saggy pouch is bothering me. Time to figure out how to get rid of it.
@conleywoods I’d love to hear more about what youve learned about metabolism and @Gidgitgoescrzy i think you may be onto something with the hormone suggestion. Thanks!
Looking forward to making changes for the good this month.5 -

Whew, you guys moved over the weekend, It's May already !
@jugar @Evemakeschanges My deepest condolences, I am glad you got to spend that time with him.
My weekend was good, I decided I wanted to grow cut flower/ wildflower gardens, so we made 3 boxes , I have a small yard and 2 very large dogs so I wanted to make sure there would be no running through the gardens, so they were initially going to be 24 inches high, but that was just ridiculous, so they are 12 - But at 8 feet, by 3 feet each, I have no idea where I am going to get all the dirt I need to fill them. I will get a pic once everything is done and planted, cause it's going to be quite neat.
Anyway, that was what my weekend entailed; we didn't get any hiking done.
I did not eat well this weekend, so I am in a race to get to my goal by the 15th. Because I leave on the 16th, so I want to be at my 1st goal by then.
Hi everyone, I'm Vikki, 52, Married, Baltimore, MD, work full time for a lumber company. 3 Grown kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat. I have been with the team for on and off for about 4 years now. I am almost to my 1st goal. Doen 40ish pounds from my highest. There were years of ups and a few moments of down, a major surgery, new jobs, and times of just flat out giving up. back in sept/oct, I decided to go off my hrt, once I did that, the weight came off, but it started a lot of other issues. So after a super scary panic attack, and basically realizing I was becoming a hermit, I am back on hrt, this time bioidentical hormones, and it's so much better, although the weight has been up and down, yet holding steady, so it will take a few more months to figure out if this type of hormones will cause the same issues.
On May 16th, I leave for an 11-day trip to Ireland, I have been wanting to go forever, I've had this booked twice, but Covid killed it both times, so this is it. It's an adventure tour, lots of hiking, and other outdoor activities, although I got the full, finalized itinerary yesterday, and there is a day with an E-bike tour in the countryside, I am not a bike person, I have terrible balance, and tend to hit parked cars. Anyway, it's the last day, so I'm thinking even if I wreck, at least I go home the next day, and it might just be worth it, to give it a try. There is also surfing, I've never attempted that in my life either, but it kind of sounds fun.
Have a great day! Lets kick some May butt!
