    New to Habit Building?

Please review our Newcomer’s Guide and our Nuts and Bolts of Habit Building as it will help you get started.

I have been mulling this over each day, when I come in here. I've put a lot of oars in the water (continuing my oars metaphor, heh), and I've ordered a bunch of journals, each of my new journals to focus on each one of my oars, to keep all my oars all moving together towards our goals (me and the oars, we're a pack, lol), so ... which 'tiny habit' to focus on?! *think ponder mull*

I have decided - my tiny habit will be journaling. In any one of them. They're all undated, I didn't want to (have a bunch of blank pages !), so filling them up will only be traveling on each of their paths. I don't intend to journal everybody every day. So ... everybody has arrived, last team member trickled in last night :D ... but I haven't written in anybody yet. Only have used an electronic journal that I started with a copy/paste from a Terri Richardson post :), and I haven't used that since before our mini spa getaway Jan 26 - Jan 28. Journaling it is! My tiny habit for February (and probably several mos after) will be journaling. I've been 'journal-curious' for several years now, but haven't started.
    • 1. My goal for this month (This February I will...) ... journal.
    • 2. The small, actionable steps I plan to take towards this goal ... will be to open one of my focus journals each day.
    • 3. My reminder or cue to keep up with my habit ... will be this group!
    • 5. My reward for maintaining the habit (anything from a self-compliment to a mark on the calendar) ... following Tes's Tiny Celebrations list 🥳 .
    • 6. How can we support you? ... by being here (love that this group exists!) 💜.
    • 7. What will success look like at the end of February? ... movement in my journals :).

What a great post, and a great list of tiny celebrations! You've got this!

I did get the main bathroom picked up. I don't know if I'm allergic to these aligners, but man I am SO drug out today and feel like I'm having an allergic reaction. :( I'm going to have to take allergy meds because I feel SO BAD. I don't even want to get my second walk done, but I will. I will still do 30 minutes, but at a lower speed. I have some wiggle room in my steps due to yesterday.

I'll probably get a hot bath after my walk. Keeping dinner simple, as the new tray is REALLY moving a lot of the front teeth, so biting isn't easy. Heck chewing ain't all that fun because my bite is so off..... ANYWAY... not going to whine too much.

    TY, luvvie! Xx

Oh, big hugs on the invisalign! Good job you, on the main bathroom! I have done an extraordinary job avoiding my two main tasks for today: get the two new laptops up and running, and start on the bathroom.

I've dried and folded darks laundry, washed and hung lights laundry, fed myself three times, heh (eating dinner now - light dinner, we had a big lunch), and did two grocery orders, one to pick up tomorrow, and one to finalize and pick up later in the week. I 'shopped' last week's Hogwarts Classroom 2A thread, for recipes posted, to make for this week's Hogwarts Classroom 3A tasks.

Tomorrow I will NOT avoid my main tasks of the day, even tho I've penciled in a grocery pickup and a gym workout, too. And I have the stack of Amazon Subscribe & Save monthly delivery boxes that arrived yesterday, but haven't opened/put away yet, too ...

    hm.

I've started my Costco list. I did a 30 min walk after work and that was about the end of me. I made a ham and cheese omelet for dinner. I need to find my allergy meds (thought they were on my desk, but that's a heap of mess right now).

I'll be going after work on Thursday to mom and dad's so I can get my dad to his appointment on Friday, so I need to get a little bag packed, and plan for food I'm going to take. They didn't like me being carnivore- thought it was disordered eating- until their dr confirmed it's a good diet and even SHE does it! :) LOL

Found out tonight we will be having a family reunion mid-June. Hopefully my weight loss continues and I'll be down a good amount by the time we go.

    anyway, time for bed

    Good morning!

Welp, got the two laptops up and running - sort of. MacBook Air is good to go, got two user profiles up, and a guest profile. Bit of a delay bc I couldn't find my password book, I have trouble sorting out all the iStuff IDs, passcodes, and passwords. :p. There's like .. Four of them, or something! hehe Anyway, it's done.

The HP EliteBook is a different story. The touchpad either doesn't work, or isn't enabled, I don't know which. I walked through the setup using the Tab button, Enter Key, Arrow Keys, etc. Super annoying, but got through. I thought I could fix the problem once it was up and going. Nope. Both Google suggestions (Use Function Key and Touchpad Icon Key at the same time; navigate to Settings - Devices - Bluetooth & Other - Touchpad, using keystrokes) were a bust. No Touchpad Icon key, no Touchpad option available anywhere in Settings (I searched), never mind in Bluetooth & Other. I messaged the place where I bought it, asking for assistance enabling the touchpad, if it can be enabled. If it's broken, I have to return the thing. Ugh.

I have two days of Amazon boxes to open, and put away, too. We get a monthly subscribe & save on the 3rd of every month, so there's that. But the iPad I bought a couple weeks ago should have arrived too, so that should be in there, too. I have to get those boxes all sorted, and get the iPad up and running, too.

I also have my grocery order to pick up. I was hoping to fit in a gym visit. A couple meals to cook (eating the letters, for Hogwarts). And. The Bathroom to start. heh The week won't end without me doing that, scouts honor!

Oh yea. Snow coming again, too. Another 3.8" coming tomorrow. So, snow clearing again.

bleh. Spent a couple+ hours working my way through troubleshooting list from BackMarket. No joy.

Compared the Device Settings options on my HP ProBook to the new (refurb) HP EliteBook. There is no "Mouse and other pointing devices" option on the EliteBook. Obvs the problem. On the ProBook, in between "Keyboards" and "Monitor", there is an option called "Mouse and other pointing devices".

Time to feed me. Only have had protein tea so far.

Man! I have missed the *Poof*! :) LOL Sounds like you've been technologically busy today! Get going on opening those boxes and putting them away! Sounds like you've been busy, though!

Been a sort of busy day at work, my momentum is waning, so I'm kicking my exercise butt back in gear! I did the Escape from Azkaban thing. I need to head over there next.

I got the bed made, lunch was simple (eggs and ground beef with cheese) so it was easy on my teeth. I am waiting for my sonic/uv cleaner to get here today. I'm hoping that helps with keeping these things clean.

2 more hours of "work" and then I will walk for an hour while Scott finishes up work. We'll go to Costco after he's off. I'm SOOOOO spoiled it's only 1 mile from my house! My focus today is Kitchen/Dining room, so I'll work in there some while listening to training and waiting for work to come in. I need to schedule 2 certification trainings (they are 2 days online each), to start getting me ready for the next phase of my "career"

    heading to the kitchen

LOL I've missed the *poof!* too! 😂💜
Good job on your work day, and Prisoner of Azkaban thing! (I haven't done that yet). Thx, I guess, on the technology :p ... stupid HP laptop ... grrrr. BackMarket Customer Svc has been excellent, very resposive, but their seller sucks twinkie *kitten*. They reached out to their seller, to see if they had any solutions to offer, when the troubleshooting list failed. The seller sent back to just hit the F8 or the F11 key, and it'd be all set. Uh, dude, that's the microphone key, and the airplane mode key. Are you high!?

Whatever. I tried it. Obviously did nothing when Win10 was loaded up. Tried each of them during startup too, in case they did something special, like F10 getting you in to the BIOS during startup. Nope! Nothing.

    Have to return it.

Did not do the Amazon boxes yet. The idea of setting up yet another device (the iPad) is giving me the willies. lol

Waiting to hear back one more time from BackMarket. Already phoned the UPS store, they're open until 6p. Want to hit the UPS store at the same time as the grocery store, they're both in the same strip mall.

You ARE lucky with CostCo!! We only JUST got one in Maine, last summer (fall, maybe?). But it's a half hour away, so I've never been. Don't want to drive that far to grocery shop :p

Hm. Just noticed the time. There's no way I'll get to the UPS store before 6p. So I guess, tmw morning for UPS store and grocery pickup (maybe gym too, we'll see).

It's supposed to snow starting around 11a tmw tho, so it'll have to be morning. I frittered my day away on this frustration.

Hitting the Amazon boxes. At least I won't have that to do too, tmw. I'll get it done now.

Back from Costco, spent $300, ugh. But got a lot of good food! :) Got home and put everything away while I cooked dinner. Different than what I had planned, but it worked! :)
I did a couple 20 min workouts- strength/flexibility- but no where near my steps goal, so, heading to the treadmill now! After that, heading to bed to try to chill out

Good Thursday morning! Picking up where I left off yesterday :p. Waiting on a response from BackMarket, hopefully soon-ish (maybe the guy doesn't start work til 9? We'll see). Snow starts here around 11a. Would love it if I could get the laptop dropped off at UPS, my grocery order picked up, and a bike ride/some weights machines done this morning. Ideally home before 11a, but home before noon or 1p would be ok too. Depends on when I hear from BackMarket.

Good morning! Got up and got my 5k in already. Heading to mom and dad's after work for the night. My parents live 45 minutes (in no traffic) across Nashville, so during rush hour it can be 1.5-2 hours. They can't drive right now, so I am helping with getting them to doctor's appts. My sister lives with them, but she can't take them to the million appointments they have (they are getting less appts now!). So, I usually go down the night before, work from there before/after appts, then head home after work.

I'm on call this weekend starting at 7pm CT until 6pm CT Sunday. We have a Super Bowl party to go to, so I'm trying to finalize what I'll be taking. I'm thinking dippy things: Tuna dip, got some brisket queso at Costco last night, home made pork rinds, maybe some sausage balls. There will be things there we shouldn't eat, so I usually over bring so that we have good for us foods.

Today's plan: Get packed for overnight, makeup. Figure out what I'm taking for lunch tomorrow and get it packed. I'll eat dinner before I leave. Shower at lunch. Keep picking away at the kitchen/dining room. I'm sure there's more I need to do or will do, but will see.

Lunch is done! I ended up with a 30 minute strength training video. It felt good, need to do it more! Got a good lunch and my shower done, started grabbing clothes for the overnight.

When all this happened last year, my parents had me sleeping on a couch, then a recliner. I was in that for the better part of a month. They had a guest room, but it was the "cat's room and she's terrified, so you can't sleep in there" Over January, my sister/mom got that room clean, so at least I know I have a bed to sleep in. For all I was doing for them (including 6 weeks away from my husband other than weekends, working from there, etc) they seemed to think *they* were the ones that were having such a hard time. That's one reason I'm digging my house out again. Scott taking care of the house alone, and then my need to rest/relax when not there along with weddings, graduations, and kitchen remodels, Oh MY!

So, this month will be one of those months. Scott and I will be staying with my parents for Valentines weekend because my sister is going on a "girls trip"- this is their planned trip every year- and I have to take care of her dog- the one that started all the garbage last year by pulling my dad off the deck and breaking 5 ribs. And there will be another day I think the 26th. They just don't understand why I have to stay overnight before the appt "it's after lunch, can't you just drive down and take them"? No.... I would have to take a 1/2 day off and I don't have near as much PTO as my sister does.....

Ok, stopping my whining. Off to drink more water and listen to learning
    Poof!

Back! Here! Well, actually I've been back for several hours, but I cleared snow for 1h 51m before coming in with groceries. I did a half hour/5+ miles on the bike at Planet Fitness; 26 mins on the weights machines (2 abs/core, 2 arms), went to pick up my grocery order (the roads were a mess! The snow came down so heavily while I was at PF).

I left just before 11a, bc of email about the stupid laptop (grrr). Drove soooooo slow, b/c the snow had already been coming down for about a half hour. Bike ride at 11:23 (per my Fitbit), weight machines workout at 12:00. Left around 12:30, had to clear car. Drive sooooooo slowly to the supermarket (not fun, roads were a mess, there were already 3+" on the ground, it was snowing pretty heavily at first, rate of 1+" per hr). Waited what seemed like forever, but was probably only 10 min, heh, for the Pickup and Go kid to bring the order out (went in to fetch him, he was messing with his phone 🙄). Snow workout started at 13:26, per my Fitbit. So I guess around 3:30p I started bringing in groceries. Was FAMISHED, b/c I'd only had 9 tootsie rolls (lol they're free at Planet Fitness), and a 12z Raw Generation Apple Celery Juice, oh, and a protein tea, too, since 6:30a, when I woke up. Gorged myself ... then took a looooong hot shower. Hair washing day, stayed in there forever.

Now I'm bundled up in cozy clothes. Hungry again, lol.

I don't know much about what happened last year for you. I knew your Dad was ill, or something, b/c you said you'd spent a long spell of time there, I think in your Hogwarts Entrance Hall intro. Sorry he's so sick, and sorry your fam is less-than appreciative of what is absolutely a huge sacrifice on your part. Hugs ...

I'm digging my house out bc it's out. of. control. Worse than it's ever been 😝😆🤷‍♀️

But I did open them this morning 😇.

The iPad was not in there ...😳🙄😖😤 ... I ordered it, what? like 2 weeks ago? It's not even shipped yet! I checked Amazon, it's expected to arrive somewhere between Feb 8 - 19. wth? I ordered it on Jan 23!

Oh boy! You have had a very busy day! I thought I did good the other day with 14,000 steps! I need to step up my game!!!

Glad you got out and home safely! Sounds like a lot of snow came down.. Meanwhile…. We are under tornado warnings! LOL Drive took about 45 minutes, but it intermittently went from bone dry to completly pouring! So, it was interesting. I started my way through the Audible of the Prisoner of Azkaban, but haven’t been consistent with it, so listened to it most of the way to their house.

    So, the sordid story:
Jan 2024 Stacey got a black lab/pit mix
May now and the dog is now 45+ pounds. My parents just can’t handle her being in a crate all day, so they go downstairs and get her, bring her upstairs to take her out to the bathroom. Because she’s a puppy my dad has to hang on to the deck post so she doesn’t pull him off. Well, one day she did and he ended up falling on his fist and breaking 5 ribs. A few weeks later he ended up in the hospital for a week with pneumonia, then to a rehab facility for 2 weeks because he lost a LOT of strength while in the hospital.
I was staying as much as I could to help get mom to the rehab place daily, help with moms appointments because her bloodwork was in the basement due to meds, and she was in constant a-fib. She was supposed to get an ablation, but dad was in the hospital, so she postponed it until October.
Dad gets back home beginning of July and was gaining strength, off oxygen, and then had a bad day of wheezing, followed by a 2am ambulance ride becaus he had a collapsed lung. More time in the hospital, but he could go straight home because he was stronger due to all the PT/OT he’d been doing.
End of September mom bent over to pick something up and got a compression fracture on her spine. She then had her a-fib surgery and was just working through the broken back pain (and not being a good patient). 2 weeks after her surgery, dad was going to take them to a dr apt in their new car and it was his first time driving since May. They had a roll over accident that totaled the car, mom got a broken rib and sternum on top of her back, dad broke more ribs and bruised his lungs so bad he had to be on high flow oxygen for over a week. Mom and dad were at separate hospitals for 3 days (I slept at the hospital with mom, stacey had dad). Mom did rehab for a week, dad went back into rehab for another week. I was at their house M-F for 6 weeks.
Its now Thanksgiving and it was really low key, 2 weeks later was Hannahs wedding and graduation, 2 weeks later was Christmas.

So, last yea sucked, hard. But, it really showed me I need to focus on my health, strength, flexibility from here moving forward. So, I really appreciate you reaching out to me and telling me about this challenge. It has really helped me a LOT!

    Goood morning !

Oh my, that is a lot. Gosh. Yea, I'm with you on realizing that I need to prioritize heart health and mobility, after watching parent struggles 🤍

I killed my sleep goal last night (yesss!) Asleep before midnight (amazing!) Over 7.5 hrs sleep (amazing!). Sleep Score (Fitbit) 88/Good (I'll take it!).

Sleep is NOT easy for me, and poor sleep negatively affects so much of our health. Love that I hit my sleep goal 3x this week. And FOUR times last week! I sleep like *kitten* during my Prolon Fasting week, but the couple weeks after, it's usually easier to sleep like a normal person, at normal person hours heh. Tomorrow is 2 weeks out from my last fast. Hope it continues through next week, then the week after, Fasting Week again!

Excited for the race to start!

Good Morning! I got a good sleep score last night. I really need to figure out why I can’t sleep at my house!! I really think it’s a combination of a chaotic bedroom and a cat sleeping on my head petting my face and neck all night. LOL

Since I’m at mom and dad’s I’m taking today as a rest day- my glutes are REALLY mad at me! LOL Not much house stuff today, due to location.

Good Morning! Back home and part of the Weekend challenge! I was up 30 minutes when I had to get a 60 minute dance workout done! LOL coming up in the next couple hours is 45 minutes of my favorite exercise (I will walk) then an hour later I will need to do 2 miles. LOL

Focus today is kitchen/dining (I'm soooo done with this being on the list daily!). Got another good night sleep- I slept sitting up for a couple hours so the cat couldn't snuggle my head. She ended up on my chest. LOL I then laid down and slept pretty decent the rest of the night. Will try again tonight, see if that's the winning move!

Off to work on the kitchen! POOF!

Well, then put it on your list this week- Get the bathroom shelves done, reward myself with a nice hot bath!

I need to make a menu to plan out what I want to cook tomorrow as prep, and then what I want for the week. Will work on that tomorrow. Feeling kind of like I want to read now, so I'll go and do that after putting up the chuck roast I cooked today! :)

Well, got some prepped food put away, Fussed at Scott and asked if he was going to help or was he going to play video games all weekend. LOL That got him off his butt and he came and got the dining room table cleaned up! whew!!! Feeling good about that at least!

I am working on updating my towels (my current ones are white, but look grey, are thin and just not nice any more). I got some red ones after Christmas I haven't used yet, and we found some at Costco tonight, so I have them all in the washer and put delay wash on so they start at 6am tomorrow! :)

Now we're going to watch some TV before we head to bed
