Good morning Shape Shifters. Tuesday was my intake at the gym. I had to get up a bit early because past me planned the appointment at 8 in the morning for some reason. Not much has changed at the gym which I like. The trainers I know are still there, they just added some more people. He asked me a bunch of questions about my exercise, food, goals etc. They also had a blood pressure reader and a new scale called Inbody 970 which is able to measure a lot of things very accurately. I will put an example of the sheet you can print out under the spoiler. (mine is in Dutch and only interesting for me anyway)Of course since I am obese, my numbers weren't very pretty. The only good thing was my blood pressure, but that has never been bad thankfully. I also downloaded the app for the scale, so I can look at my readings at home and over time it will be fun to compare. At my gym you get an evaluation and a new training schedule every 12 weeks, so that is also when I will get a second reading. After the paperwork and scale stuff, we did some exercises in the gym, starting with a walk on the treadmill. He also asked which things I enjoyed before, I told him it was easier to say what I didn't like which are lunges and squats, lol. They still print out your gym routine because it is easy to make notes about weights that way and they want to keep phones out of the gym. I really appreciate that. I asked if I could also get it on the mail because I think it is fun to look back later to see what you have done. I will share it with you guys when I get it. I will have my first real gym workout on Monday and I plan to go 3 times a week.
I had a killer headache all morning, probably from stress/anxiety, so the rest of my day was pretty quiet and thankfully I did feel better later in the day. Yesterday was a lazy day; I just got groceries. Happy Thursday everyone8 -
@jessicakrall8 could you please add me to the February Step Challenge.My favourite place to walk in the winter is around my neighbourhood.If the weather is bad the shopping centre is a good way of keeping dry whilst getting steps in.
I have just finished the last 100 day challenge on MFP I did find it helped me to make better choices if I saw my weight creep up.My progress was great until about Day 91 when my weight went up for no reason.I only lost 3.5 lbs from Day 1 to day 100.It is difficult that eventhough I continue to do everything I can I continue to yoyo.
I decided not to do the next 100 day challenge but I'm still going to weigh myself each day & hope that I can get to my goal soon.5 -

@izzyred9400 I don’t know how close you are to your goal weight. 3.5 lbs seems pretty significant over the holiday season and lazy winter months. I think that’s more than 2% of your body weight.4

@Pupowl I'm glad your gym intake went well and the anxiety is over, now you can get on the with fun part. I also hate lunges, but I love squats. I think I don't like lunges because my balance isn't the best and I wobble a lot. I know that means I should do them more rather than less but...

@DaffyGirl88 I just have weak, puny legs. I don't mind being sore from working out, but those two always wreck me for days! I have the same with lunges and balance as well. It's not an easy exercise imo.4

So I've had a stressful couple of weeks watching and waiting to see what was going to happen with my job. I may have indulged in a little comfort food and/or alcohol.I am returning to the office full time on Monday, we will have to wait and see what that does to my eating and exercising. What would be great is that if now that everyone is returning to the base (I work on a Navy base) if they restarted the morning group exercise classes. I used to go to spinning or other classes before work and loved that. Time will tell I guess.

So happy to see the number going down. Finally. I've been focusing on accurate tracking. Exercise has been a bit more consistent this week than last as well. And I've started eating a small breakfast that is worked into my calories to help curb the extra morning snacking. It's starting to feel like everything is clicking into place.

I’ll take it! I spent part of the week in NYC, visiting family and friends, and of course, eating lol. I love traveling, but I hate not being in full control of my food choices. While we did a lot of walking, every meal was a meal out. So I’m happy to see the numbers this morning. And I’m happy to be home, back in the warmth and sun!!9 -

Looks like I've mostly just been maintaining over the past week, which is fine by me. My PHN flare-up has finally died down and everyone in the house is over the flu, so I'll take that as a win9 -
@pupowl, My gym has an Inbody smart scale as well. My scale at home is similar (it's a Withings Body Plus), but it doesn't have the handheld sensor. I've also had a DEXA scan a few times, which has taught me to take my smart scale's readings with a grain of salt. I think it's value is in showing long-term trends rather than a day to day measurement. I've found that I can weigh myself before and after a shower and see ~5 pounds of fat magically transformed into 5 pounds of muscle. If it were only that easy! I'd shower five times a day! 😂
@izzyred9400, you did much better than I did on the 100 day challenge! At least you lost some weight. Weight loss can be a slow process, so be patient and persistent. Thank you for mentioning your shopping center as a place to walk. We've started getting rain here and I've been thinking I'll have to do more treadmill walks. But I was forgetting the local indoor shopping mall that is open to walkers in the early morning (~8am) prior to it's official opening (10am or 11am).

@frankwbrown That is nice! I have a scale that gives quite a bit of data as well (a Renpho), but it is not that easy to compare to the Inbody. It doesn't really track the same things or does it in percentages instead of weight. I did see my age was younger on the Inbody than my scale at home which is cool! But it is still 5 years older than it should be. I really like the tracking of muscle and separate body parts. I hope you can really see a difference after 12 weeks.3

Wednesday and Thursday were jury duty days. I was brown bagging it and we ended up with long lunch breaks so I walked outside around the courthouse both days.

Whew what a week in montana. We got hit by a snow storm Sunday, bad enough to cancel school. That is only the 3rd time that's happened in the 37 years I have been here. Then we had below 0 most the week. Had one nice day then another snow storm hit today. News said we would get 1 to 3 inches...try 6 in a matter of just a few hours, on top of the 9 we already had, it's a mess out there. I only worked out once this week only because it's been so cold, it will take an hour to heat up my garage enough to workout in it. So I just didn't. I did workout yesterday, and had a great stretch after, today I did not because I had an appointment that ended up taking 5 freaking hours, ugh. Now we have a cold front coming in and another inch or 2 of snow coming.9 -

hit up ye olde costco today and loaded up on healthy stuff. have to put on blinders not to get tempted by all the goodies. got blueberries, fresh figs, sumo oranges (very odd), lots of eggs, vegan protein drink, frozen grilled veggies (so good), chicken, soups. happy friday!7 -

Thanks @CasandraW & @frankwbrown & @Pupowl I know it's best not to get too worked up about the scale.I know it's always more difficult when you've not got that much to lose.I am happy that I have been losing for a few weeks now.Its just frustrating when I've put the effort in.So I will stop being a winging Pom (that's what the Aussies call us Brits btw ) & keep doing what I'm doing.
A great NSV this morning my BMI is now 25 & in the normal range 😀

We are in Houston for the weekend to visit my daughter. Getting steps in whether I like it or not-round trip from her parking garage is a quarter mile! I’m feeling it this morning but I brought some PT equipment to work on my legs. I’m considering this a trial run for our trip to Vegas in two weeks but I’m going to try not to push myself too hard this weekend-I don’t want to make things worse!7
